Free hosting for all developers - Android Software Development

Hey all
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=712404
Just wanted to bring my other thread up to light here, started in the Desire section.
I have a server that i could host different ROMs for many different phones on and easy download for all users here.
And uploader account for all the developers and sections for each phone and such.
What you all think?
I will be getting a domain for this also.
Name suggestions are welcome
A name that maybe not refers to custom roms to much

To Haykuro, Jesusfreke, DudeOfLife & other rom developers

I have a few ideas for the troubles developers are having here
1. Each rom developer should work together and have one area that only developers can give ideas and input, only select people would be allowed to post to the area but we could all view what is in the works, a semi private forum or community, this would cut down on spam and allow for uninterupted development
2. Developers shouldn't have to handle being customer care/support, they shouldn't have to deal with idiots that cannot rtfm or search, this takes time from their own ideas and development process as well as their own lives having to keep up with thousands of people.
3. In organized places like the linux kernel project developers are seperated from the community to a point to avoid such issues that turn away good developers. Basically the developers know what need to be done, its a passion of theirs and we are all lucky to take part in the experience
4. There is already communication between developers and maybe the mods could create a read only area for non-developers, and read/write for rom developers and trusted helpers
So if xda cannot create a seperate forum just for the developers to use and for people to view but not spam/other things I say the devs should just create another rom mod community
Thanks,
defcon

The xda forum has been here for very long time. And that proves there's nothing wrong with the working model we're having here right now. Otherwise you wouldn't see an active forum like this, amirite?
Part of the problem here is that evryone in the community who has an interest in modding KNOWS that this is the place all the modders go. I agree if we created a tech support forum (or a sepperate website) with threads that can only be started by privilaged users then the madness would be contained within a logical structure.
I agree with this completely! This will force those that don't research (search and read appropriate topic) into doing some studying! We need to resolve this issue ASAP before we lose more of our top devs! I appreciate their hard work and the countless hours of effort they put in! I've read some of these long threads and they just keep getting longer by posters that ask a question that was answered at or near the beginning of the topics! Pretty ridiculous? I call it laziness!
I think this is a great idea. And also maybe an irc for devs and trusted helpers.

2 development forums?

Whats the difference between the two development forums one says original and the other android? Can you only use stuff from one forum or the other. I've had other android devices but never seen anything like this on the forums.
I noticed this a week ago and was confused by it also, so I Google'd it and apparently it started with the Galaxy S 3. Essentially what I got out of it was that original development is for completely new ROMs from established developers and Android development is for ROMs based off of other ROMs done by both established and new developers. It's kind of a stupid and confusing classification if you ask me.
I saw a suggestion in then thread that I was reading and I thought it was a great idea: instead of splitting it like this make a few different sub-forums under the dev section for the likes of kernels, ROMs, mods, themes and other stuff. It would make it so much easier to find stuff.

To xda please create a separate forum for us.!!!

i didnt know where do i make this request so i made it here.
as a request to avoid all the confusion going arount in htc one forum due to two different models being forumed on the same forum.
i would like to say that htc 801e and htc 802d/w/t both are totally different in terms of specs.
so their development must also be separate hence it would make it easy and hassle free for all the xda members.
:good: hope to hear the best.
Hello,
To request a new device forum please ask on this thread. It will then be looked into by a forum admin.
Many thanks,
Ghost

Welcome & Introduction

To all forum readers and lurkers, welcome to a new and experimental section of the forums! The PC Hardware forums are part of our expansion into a limited discussion of PC hardware for our enthusiasts and developers. So while the normal forum rules apply you may notice that things here will be slightly different and a work in progress.
Here's what you can expect in each of the forums within here:
PC Hardware Portal Article Discussion is where the portal team will be posting a new thread for each article on the category. While Disqus isn't a bad option it's also a very limited one in comparison to our forum membership - and so we'd like to try moving some of that discussion here. It also gives us the ability to give some behind-the-scenes updates and additional content that may not fit the Portal well, such as build logs and photos of projects we're working on for Portal articles.
Forum members are more than welcome to continue the discussion but new threads will only be created by us here. If you want to carry on a discussion of a different topic, we have you covered.
The PC Hardware For Linux Developers section is ideally for continuing the discussion and talking about topics near and dear to our developers' hearts. Whether you're just starting out and want to know how to build your own kernel/ROM, set up a kitchen to theme, or something more advanced... if it's about Linux this is the place to talk about it!
While the name doesn't call it out specifically it's well known that a subset of developers use Mac OS X instead - feel free to post in here too on your topics. To help clarify we ask that the prefix [OSX] be used so readers know this deals with a Mac-specific topic.
Lastly our PC Hardware General is for all other discussions under the sun and related to the topic. We're not looking to replace your go-to sites but rather foster a conversation in addition to that. And while we certainly understand that these discussions can get "heated" we ask that people treat each other with the same civility and respect as you would anywhere else on the XDA forums.
Your moderation team can be found in the upper right hand corner under "Moderators." Please feel free to contact us if there are any questions/concerns. In addition you will likely find me around here quite often - part of my job as PC Hardware Editor is to help foster those discussions. And we'll be watching to see how this develops - if we need to split this up further you may see additional forums being added or moved here to better keep the related discussions together!
Thank you for your continued time and support of XDA!
Excited...!!!

Why telegram??

This forum ([email protected]) is dying.
We can't find roms and threads are not updated with links and last rom version.
Why developers prefer to use telegram instead of XDA??
I think it's horrible: forum is a single access point for everything about our device. Also forum posts will remain forever and will help everyone in the future, because everything is categorized in sections and threads, and there is a search function!
With telegram every developer have his own channel, everyone can write stupid uninformative messages and it's a ***** mess.
At least, I hope it's not a trend for every device but just for markw.
Devs preferring Telegram because there's quick response/interaction available, one can immediately report and get a problem resolved. Xda is slower in that context, but, it's a very essential platform.
So, what we can do is take the responsibility on ourselves to keep this subforum up to date by increasing interactions, not just relying on the devs.
It's not just markw, my friend. The situation is the same with my other device (kenzo). There are lots of roms which don't have a thread on XDA and are only available on Telegram. I guess the flashers just have to follow the devs. It's up to them.
I think it's really a bad direction for the internet in general.
Forums are like books, they stay forever (until the site is maintained at least..).
Instant messaging are like words, they fly.
