Since couple of days I'm having problems with my sd card.
- I can copy from card without any problems
- I cant copy to card either in Active Sync or disk drive mode (the transfer window shows up but never moves)
I tried to use the card in the reader - same issue (reader is not protected), I havent installed anything recently, I formatted, scanned, chkdsked the card (found few problems) but it is still the same.
I dont know what is causing the problem but if that would be:
- cable - I wouldnt be able to connect phone to PC
- phone - I am planning to flash dutty 2.6 tomorrow as I am running 2.1 with uspl
- card - I wouldnt be able to move the data from the card also the data on the card is readable (music, pdfs)

my blackstone cant acces to the sd card anymore if i pull the sd card out and then pull back in the blackstone recognizes the sd card but i only can view the tings that are on the card
so i cant copy, install, remove or rewrite
does anyone know why this suddenly happend
is this a hardware problem?
Hello,
I had the same issue a few days ago. It was due to some bad files on my SD card.
What you can do:
- connect the HTC to a PC as an external disk (not with activesync) or put your SD card into a PC if you have a card reader
- try to copy what you can on a HDD
- try CHKDSK or format the SD card
It should then work again.
I just noticed that my phone is not seeing the MicroSD card in the system.
I have reseated the card and soft reset the phone so far, but cannot get the card to be seen again.
I was able to transfer some files to the card this morning so something must have happened after the transfer...
Anyone else see this problem?
I guess this has been moved here, so I'll mention this is the T-Mo US version. Stock ROM
Same issue...
I Have had the same issue... Figured it out when I wanted to run an app that was installed on my sd card... Had to Take out card, put it back and reboot the phone. If it happens again, will be taking phone back to T-Mobile to have them take care of issue.
Yea, that def. doesnt sound like how it's intended to be...
The card mounts in Windows, while its in the phone and I can transfer to it, but cant be viewed on the phone.

Check that you haven't got a 2nd 'Storage Card2' in the phone root folder - This sometimes happens if you try to reference the card while it isn't installed - another 'Storage Card' is generated.
If so, use file explorer, gsfinder or Total Commander to find your (correct) card and delete the temporary one.

Also Unable to Read SD Card
I am having a similar issue. Got my HD2 (TMO US, stock ROM) on launch day, SD card wasn't recognized starting last night. The phone asks me to format the SD card after a soft reset. When I connect to the PC via USB in Disk Drive mode, as soon as I try to explore the SD card the PC asks me to format it. Programs that I have installed to the storage card show up with a generic icon and do not start.
Maybe those of you having problems can provide some additional info about any changes to your device, and we may find something in common. Here's what I can think of that's associated with my phone:
- Customizations with BsB Tweaks and HD2Tweak (tried backing out the FAT cache settings already and resetting, card is still not recognized)
- A small number of manual registry changes which I can't verify because, of course, I wrote the backup files to the SD card *facepalm*
- Cookie's Home Tab
- Some additional games, Google Maps, Google Mobile App, Total Commander, PHM RegEdit, a few other random apps from O!Market
I also have Pointsec encryption on my laptop, which is notorious for trying to grab a hold of removable media and "protect" it.
My SD Card just showed up.
I had made no changes to the ROM at all. Completely stock, no CABs installed.
Since then I have installed some registry tweaks and some apps.
But thats my giving to a solution, which is nothing lol..
I have noticed however, that when the phone is mounted to my PC and Im in the folder, I cant browse to the SD Card on the phone...
Anyone else see that?
I believe I know the problem. IT happened to me several times, until I unplugged the USB cable, then the SD card magically appeared again.
When ever the phone is tethered, or connected to USB, the SD card is not vissible on the phone via file manager.
It should be visible via the laptop or PC explorer
Card Now Visible
I did have to format my storage card to get it to be recognized by the HD2. In case anyone else runs into the same problem, here are the steps I followed:
- Removed microSD card from device, put in adapter, and attached to computer
- Used TestDisk (www[.]cgsecurity[.]org/wiki/TestDisk) to view the data on the drive. I was able to recover all of the files and directories.
- Copied the recovered files to my computer's hard drive
- Removed microSD card from computer, put in phone, and allowed phone to format when the dialog box appeared
- Removed card from phone, attached to computer, copied recovered files to card
- Put card in phone and soft reset
Hopefully this helps someone out who runs into a similar problem.
Thanks for the above post - that definitely helped me this morning as I thought my storage card had stopped working.
Seems daft when you plug in the USB cable from PC that phone then shows storage card as not installed.
Hello!
I just installed "Android 2.1 (Eclair) On HTC [27 Jun 2010] (V2.5a)" and got the "waiting for SDCard"-message.
After adding "msmsdcc_1bit msmsdcc_fmax=14000000 msmsdcc_nopwrsave" it worked perfectly and I was able to start android.
After starting the photoalbum I restarted the phone to windows - but my sd-card wasn't recognized anymore
If I re-insert the card, it's there for about a second and then it's gone again...
I don't want to say that it has something to do with the installation of android, but it's kind of obvious, isn't it?
Format it with the hp tool (HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool) then try to reinstall Android.
The sd-card isn't even recognized by an extern sdhc-cardreader.
So I think it's dead.
How is that possible?
yup, it happened to me too, and i think that it does have to do with android
here is my fix:
set blackstone in card reader mode
remove the card from blackstone
connect blackstone to pc
prepare a command prompt window in windows and type format x: /q but do not press enter yet (x is the letter wich windows will alocate for card when connected)
insert the card into blackstone and fastly press enter on the earlier typed command (the card only stays visible for a second or two)
sometimes you can recover some of the files from the card with some undelete program
hmm, the problem is: my blackstone switches to activesync-mode automatically if there's no sd card present...
ok, got card reader mode working, but formatting fails due to an IOCTL error
try again, i may not remember the operations exactly but i got it fixed and i had exactly the same problem,
anyway, the ideea is important and not my tutorial exactly, the ideea is that card is formatable from windows in the first few seconds when it is visible in blackstone,
edit: i may also used wm5torage for this operation, try it too
Have the same problem... SD-card isn't recognized anymore by my Blackstone
Going to try the hints in this thread
hi,
my 16 gb sandisk card broke a while ago while trying android on my blackstone.
The phone sees the card only for like 5 seconds, same happens when plugging it to the computer.
In the card reader the drive shows up, but i cant do anything with it.
I have tried soo many things:
Tried the panasonic. hp and sd formatter
From the phone, tried flash format, storagetools, pocket mechanic
Also combined it with cardexport or wm5torage
Today i found out the drive stays available while connected to the card reader, im downloading a couple of partition managers, will report back.
Anyone successfully fixed their sd card?
EDIT
I put my card in a couple of compact camera's, one camera could format the card and it started working.
I bought a new sd card now
But i will try to format the old one with a camera, that's a very good idea!
Okay, formating with a camera actually worked!!
Thank you!
i cant access my 8gb card anymore
it shows as there briefly and then dissapears. i cant access it via the pc usb cable either.
ive tried another sd card (2gig) and it works fine. so im sure the issue lies with the card.
is there any application which may overcome this issue?
I have similar problem with my 8GB card. With original (2GB) card everything is ok.
When i access certain folders the Storage Card disappears from file explorer?!?
The only way to reapear is to restart the phone.
The only solution i found is to format the card.
Then everything is Ok for couple of weeks.
After that again corruption in the file system appears.
use the panasonic formatter.. it should fix it
1. I was checking files on my 8GB card in file exproler
2. I removed my 8GB card
3. Install of HSPL 3.03
4. Formatting new 2GB card with FAT32, copying radio rom on it, shutdown and pressing power+volume_down...
5. Boot loader or how its called came up but flashing did not begin...I'm guessing because of filename...
6. I've turned the device on and flashed the rom using USB with CustomRRU.exe
7. After that I flashed with energy rom, USB with CustomRRU.exe
8. Everything was fiine with flashing...going trough settings...
9. I inserted my 8GB card back but file exproler or any other application can't see it.
If I connect the device without card I get 2 options:
- ActiveSync
- Modem
If I connect it with card I get all 3 options
- ActiceSync
- Modem
- Disk Drive
So...the device obviously knows that the card is inserted but it can't access it...
I don't know if the problem is hardware or software...
put it into a card reader then use Easeus free edition to remove the partitions and reformat the card as primary fat 32 job done
I have fixed the problem...
I tried another microsd and it worked...then I tried my microsd again and somehow it worked too...miracle I guess...I tried taking out and putting it back before...reseting the device...but now it suddenly works...
I was just going to try you formatting advice but I decided to try another microsd before...thanks anyway
That's got something to do with data stored on SD by the old OS.
If you change OS you should format your SD with a card reader or at least you should delete Applicaton Data and Program Files folders on SD.
