Repetitive warning sound when battery low - Touch Diamond, MDA Compact IV Themes and Apps

Need a repetitive loud warning sound (Wav.) when my battery needs recharging.
I do have the freeware Batti 2.4 however this only gives me a single warning sound at Battery-low and one further single warning at critical, and then only when it’s not asleep. As I often leave my Diamond on my desk at home for two or three days at a time without even going to it (unless someone rings me) I forget to check if it needs re-charging, previously it has gone flat and turned itself off without me realising.
By playing with the registry I did manage to make visible under Sounds & Notifications /Event: the Low Battery warning settings (which has since disappeared again?) however when it was there I set a loud sound and checked repeat, but then the sounds at first come every few seconds (most annoying) when the battery had droped to 10% with their frequency gradually diminishing and then desisting after about 15 minutes (no good to me if I’m not in earshot during that 15 minutes) I would prefer them to continue indefinitely until I interact on the low battery warning.
Can anyone either help with the Reg Settings or suggest something to help please?

How to control the Low Battery warning
This should be a fairly coherent way of displaying/controlling the Low Battery warning on a Windows-6 PPC
1. Search for the key HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\.
2. If you find this key, within it create a new String value, name it Default and set its value to Low battery warning.
3. Set Available Options to decimal (31)
4. Set Options to decimal (9) for a single warning, (25) for a repeated warning.
5. Now move to Start -> Settings -> Personal tab -> Sounds & Notifications applet -> Notifications tab, choose Low battery warning value from the Select an event drop-down menu and set whatever you want.
However the repeated warning is rubbish as at first it repeats annoyingly every 20 seconds tapering off to a final 5 minutes and then totally ceases. If someone could tell us how to amend this to repeating a warning perhaps only every 4 minutes this would be superb.

Notification & Alarm sounds

On WM2003SE you could disable most of the sounds, but have things like the text message alert still sound.. WM5 appears to not allow this: turn off Notifications and new incoming text messages are also disabled.
This is really irritating because it means you either have sounds on, and get irritating bleeps WHENEVER you hit ANY button (it seems) - including the start button and any program you hit in the menu..... OR you have no sounds when using the device - but no warning of incoming texts.
Can this be solved??
start>settings>sound&notifications>notifications tab then untick the "play sound" box

If you mean the page with the drop down list of events..... there isn't an option for "Start menu"...
Currently trying (on the 'Sounds' Tab)
Events - unchecked
Programs - checked
- Notifications - checked
Screen Taps - unchecked
Hardware Buttons - unchecked
I THINK this is the way it should be for what I want: silent machine unless there's a message/call incoming.
Hi,
Check Sound Schemes and Waveform Audio registry settings @Microsoft (see below)
Works from CE4+. I use an empty sound scheme. Use tascal TRE for editting those REGSZ_MULTI's. Keep 21 lines (events in the scheme (even if the lines are empty!
Or set HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Volume\Mute to 0x03.
Only use only WAV-files in \Windows. Sound schemes can be fun.
Why has nobody vere made a Sound Scheme Editor for Windows CE4+?
Should be easy to make.

Hiding System Sound Events
The following system sound events are available through the shell:
Asterisk

Exclam
Infbeg

Netbeg
Netend
Netintr

The Wceshellfe.reg file contains a mask you can use to hide system sound events that do not apply to a target device. The following registry key allows you to set the mask to disable sound events.
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Snd\Event
".Scheme"=".DefaultSounds"
"EventMask"=dword:FFFFFF
"EventCache"=dword:300
;Scheme descriptions
".NoSounds"=multi_sz:"","","","","","","","","","","","", "","","","","","","","",""
".DefaultSounds"=multi_sz:"Asterisk","","critical","default","","exclam","infbeg","infend","infintr","","","","question","Netbeg","Netend","Netintr","startup","","",""
".AllSounds"=multi_sz:"Asterisk","Close","critical","default","Empty","exclam","infbeg","infend","infintr","MenuPop","MenuSel","OpenProg","question","Netbeg","Netend","Netintr","startup","WindMax","WindMin","RecStart","RecEnd"
;
In the registry key, the Scheme setting specifies the current sound scheme. The NoSounds, DefaultSounds, and AllSounds schemes are defined, and DefaultSounds is specified as the current scheme.
The EventMask allows events that do not apply to a target device to be hidden. The mask is a DWORD initially set to FFFFFF, which means all sounds are enabled. The following example shows show to set EventMask to disable Asterisk.
"EventMask"=dword:FFFFFE
The EventCache setting specifies the cache menu popup and menu select.

remove sounds on events as the first tab in sounds and notifications.
I only have the second one down, the first disable screen taps and menu activations
i dont even like the phone tap sounds. i only have programs and notifications, but not events, screen taps or hardware buttons.
then i can control the sounds via the notification tab to choose custom sounds for every event i want.

**Real Dollars Paid** Request - Opening & Closing Launcher Tabs at Timed Intervals
To set the scene; I have used advanced google search to see if I could find what I am looking for here and also trawled through the entire mortscript thread (painful) but to no avail.
What I am looking for is either a small app or a mortscript that will allow me to automatically open and close a tab within a today screen launcher (eg UltimateLaunch, SPB PocketPlus, etc) so that the contents of that tab are displayed on scren for a set period of time then closed off.
Within the app or script I would like to be able to set the following parameters:
- Select the tabs I want to open and close be it sequentially (ie tab 1 to tab "n", or tab "n" to tab 1), have an option to have random selection of the tabs, or be able to set a sequence of tabs myself to be opened, eg tab 1, tab 3, tab 2 or tab 4, tab1, or tab 2, tab 5, tab 6, tab 3, and so on) or simply be able to set any number of tabs to be opened (ie if I have 6 tabs but only want to open 2 of them then the tool should allow me to do so. The unselected tabs should remain closed).
- Select the length of time each tab should be open for (in seconds, minimum 10 seconds, maximum "n" seconds) before being closed (this will be a global parameter impacting all selected tabs at once, rather than being set individually for each tab).
- Select or deselect a tone to alert me when a tab has been opened. It would also be nice to be able to set vibrate on its own and/or with a sound as an alert.
- Sound and/or vibrate rules should comply with whatever phone ringtone profile I have setup on my PPC. So for example if I have a silent profile running then I would expect the tool to automatically also drop to silent mode.
- A toggle facility to allow me to turn the whole application on or off whenever required without losing my settings.
There are probably other parameters that would be useful; however this is the minimum I am looking for at this time.
Is there anyone on this forum who is able to write up a script or an app that will do this? I am more than happy to make a handsome donation to anyone willing to give it a go.
Although I have siad the tool should be compatible with any launcher, I am looking for initial compatibility to be with SPB PocketPlus as that is what I use at the moment.
I hope I have made it clear what I am looking for.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Custom events/profile manager - user interface design

Hi,
As some of you already know, I'm working on a touch UI (www.touchxperience.com) which will include an integrated profile manager. But it won't be a simple profile manager, it will allow you to create what I called "Custom Events", to execute predefined actions when a certain event occurs.
I would like to hear suggestions or advises from software design experts as well as end users about how should be designed user interface.
The principle is simple, each custom event is defined by:
A basic event (application changed, location changed, new message, new incoming call, battery charging, device cradled, headset connected, Wi-Fi network detected, internet connection detected, keyboard open,...)
Eventually some conditions (date/time, current application, current location, specific words in message, caller identity,...)
An action (launch application, display notification, enable flight mode, turn on Wi-Fi, change profile, send message,...)
There will be hundreds of events and actions, so possibilities are very large! Here are some examples:
Enable flight mode during nights
Connect to Wi-Fi while battery is charging
Deactivate alarm when I turn my device face down
Put phone in silent mode at workplace
Remind me to buy bread when I’m near to the bakery
Events, conditions and actions may eventually need some additional info: specific time, application to launch, bluetooth mode (on/off/visible), active application title, message text,...
Also there may be an option to revert back some executed actions, for example:
If you defined a custom event to set max brightness in media player, it will set default brightness once active application changed
If you defined a custom event to turn on WiFi when device is charging, it will turn off WiFi when it's not charging anymore
There will be some predefined custom events that you can activate and customize (commonly used custom events, to be determined, in this way you don't have to create them from scratch).
Finally, you can create profiles and switch between different profiles in one touch. Each profile defines some system settings: volume, ringtones, connections, backlight brightness,...
The user interface should cover any type of usage, for novice or advanced users, so it must be simple but powerful. And of course, it must be finger-friendly!
Don't hesitate if you have any suggestion regarding user interface design or mechanism in general. Thank you!
just wifi
you are smarter than me.
your imagination is stronger than mine.
dreaming from empty is impossible for me.
i would be happy trying out what you offer, when you feel it is ready for that.
at least then i could have base line.
the events you describe when phone is in certain positions (orientation) is
is unbelievable to me.. Majic
when my phone detects wifi, it would be fine if it connects to prescribed known network. if none available, then the strongest Open one would be choice.
and so forth down the tree..
im sorry to start the clutter of useless posts here and you can delete if you want.
as thousands who know you better, i am very anxious for your release..
EDIT EDIT :: i do have one question.. with all these options, how many minutes will many battery last?
even 60min?
Nice idea!
I would love to have this app replace "phonealarm"! Will it be possible to have multiple alarms? I really would love it when my phone would ring every 5 minutes if I have an unread message/missed call. This is one of the most important features. Are You planning on implementing such an option?
Greetz
korbi
This may be implemented in a future version.
Definitely some timed events ie:
From 9 am to 5 pm (typical US workday) the phone goes to vibrate.
From 11 pm to 6 am the phone goes silent for people sleeping.
Is it possible to program the sound to turn on 1 minute before an alarm so that you don't have to keep the sound on the whole time just for the alarm?
That's all I got so far.
- If a meeting is scheduled in the calendar, the phone should set itself to vibrate during the meeting and turn the ringer back on when the meeting is over.
- Activesync.exe can be killed as soon as the phone is unplugged from the USB cable.
- The interface can change its skin depending on the amount of light (Diamond's light sensor can be used) or time of day. (Darker environment = Darker skin so its easy on the eyes)
a few things
1. it is gorgeous! I have never seen an interface like that and I would love for it to be in any rom that comes out. That said
will this be released on legacy devices (titan specifically)
2. I assume also the menu will have scrolling elements
I have more technical questions though but this is a start
Good to see you're taking suggestions from everyone from designers, engineers and everyday users to advanced users. I have some suggestions which I'll just throw out there [some may be stupid but brainstorming works wonders with intuition and innovation]
Rotate to Activate Camera
- Event: Rotate device to landscape (whatever degree it is)
- Condition: Whilst in Home screen (or in any other screen in TF3D - not limited to just Home and which can be customized by the user as to which screens this will be enabled)
- Execute: Camera Application
Stylus Retrieval Activates Notepad:
- Event: Remove stylus from device
- Conditions: Only when in stand-by mode
- Execute: Unlock device > Open Notepad application
Alternative means of unlocking device
- Event: Double tap screen OR Long pressure hold of thumb/finger on screen - amount of pressure to be defined by user and being able to define this will ensure that accidental unlocks do not occur (e.g. whilst in pocket)
- Condition: Device locked AND Double taps/long holds on screen must be in a certain area of the screen - also definable by user
- Event: Unlock device
Inserting wired Headset opens menu for Phone/Music/Radio selection
- Event: Insert wired headset into phone
- Conditions: Wireless headset is not already paired AND Phone/Music/Radio applications are not already running [in relation to TF3D tab - music is not already playing]
- Action: Open up a dialogue menu for user to select either Phone, Music (user definable music application whether it goes to TF3D Music tab or opens another application like WMP), or Radio application
If I can come up with more suggestions, I will let you know.
hey i think the best thing for you to indigrate into your beautiful ui would be the lock and unlock screen of the Android OS (if possible)
here is the link
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JGCIlAwrpvI
Great idea! I've been playing with automatically switching to silent mode when I'm in the vicinity of some cellular towers since 2001, never got it to work though
From a technical design perspective: I would strongly suggest that your application only registers itself to those events the user specified in some configuration. If your program is going to listen to all possible types of events at all times, it will become slow and battery draining. Your program should hook to events as necessary. You could check which events to hook to as soon as configuration changes. You could disable a hook to a specific event once all occurrences of actions listening for that event are done (to check on the moment the event action is executed), such as a one-time alarm.
Keep up the good word, I'm curious about the results in the future
- Daan
Edit: oops, you're asking for user interface design comments. Ghe, look at Apple? Nah, what I've seen from the videos the new interface looks very promising. For the profiles, you might consider letting the user configure some events very user friendly, like enabling some default often-used actions, and let specific events (such as defining the location of the bakery store) be entered by having to draw a stylus (if much user input is required).
Noooo!!! Schaps this is awesome! I hope I'm within 30 days to get a refund on Spb Phone Suite !
Hi Schaps,
Here is my idea: Add function key + shake to do more. Like:
1) Hold Down the Vol Down Key + shake horizontal = Play Next Music/SMS/Email/Photo (As user config)
2) Hold Down the Vol Up Key + shake horizontal = Play Previous Music/SMS/Email/Photo (As user config)
3) Hold Down the Action Key [The Round Button] + shake to Right = Move the TouchFLO3D Tab to Next Right Tap
4) Hold Down the Action Key [The Round Button] + shake to Left = Move the TouchFLO3D Tab to Next Left Tap
5) Hold Down the End Key + shake = Close all application
6) Hold Down the Phone Key + shake = Open the Contacts List
7) Hold Down the Back Key [←] + shake = Switch to Next Running application
8) Hold Down the Home Key + shake = Open your favorite application
9) Hold Down the Power Key + shake = Turn the LCD in WHITE and MAX the Backlight, So Diamond become a supper flashlight!
10) When not press any key + Rotation = Auto-Rotation just like GSen
See the Diamond can do a lot of things and iPhone can go back to home
What did you think?
Can you make it so that the phone can be set to turn on and off automatically like a blackberry?
Backwards compatibility and another idea
Will this be backwards compatible in any way in order to use on the Wing/Herald, until I can convince the wife that the HTC Diamond is the way to go...not the idrone?
Second, how about the ability for the phone to activate a specific program or two when it detects my bluetooth gps in the vicinity? Or to go to a specific mode when my bluetooth headset connects and to port all audio to the headset (another program activation)?
Maybe to activate a program, like a mapping program when the gps is active and moving over 20 mph... like an automatic navigation system.
*****
The biggest feature is the automatic profile changes... screen brightness, volume, ringtone, maybe a program, based on time of day or location.
It must also never interfere with the regular operation : Phonealarm would make my screen go blank when I looked at incoming messages. It would then interfere with the solid orange "charging" light quite often, making me wonder if my cord was bad.

You understood good custom events mechanism, this some examples of actions which will be possible. Now the challenge is to design a clear user interface to manage custom events.

I have been working on it, but it's still experimental.
Hi Schaps,
One more things, At point 10) maybe the TouchXperience UI should be have a config manual to list out all installed application in Diamond (Listed on \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\ & \Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games) Let user choose (Make a tick box?) what application have Auto-Rotation function or not. Because as I try some application is not good or not support Auto-Rotation like below:
- Manila
- Teeter (Game)
- Opera
- htcalbum
- cprog.exe
See you later

HD2: Change Low battery notification sound?

Hi, my first post here.
I hope this hasn't been asked before, but I have searched and not found the answer.
Yesterday, my HD2 rang it's usual ringtone several times, but no caller was displayed. I then realised it was actually the low battery notification. I have no idea how it came to be using my ringtone as the notifier, as this is a custom MP3, not one of the on board tones, but is there any way to change this?
Thanks in advance,
Simon.
Can anyone help with this, please?
Yes, I'd like to know how to change low battery warning sound too. Right now, mine is just a short beep.
Modify the Low battery warning
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Notifications\{A877D663-239C-47a7-9304-0D347F580408}\
Create a String value named "Default" and set its value to "Low battery warning".
Now go to Start > Settings > Personal tab > Sounds & Notifications applet > Notifications tab, select "Low battery warning" in the "Select an event" drop-down list and you can customize it.
the simplest way is go to Setting => Sounds & Display => Notification sounds => Reminders then you can pick one you like for low battery warning

No, it isn't, because the option isn't there until you perform the reg hack above.

Excellent tip. Thanks a lot!
HD2, default notification message open when battery level is 10%, how to change this value to 15% or 20%?
So...
The other day my HTC HD2 spoke to me and told me the battery was low... it was a real voice and others heard it too. I have had this phone for well over 6 months and I have drained the battery before, but it has NEVER spoken before.... I am going to try your ideas for changing the notification, but I didn't know that you could change the low battery notification nor that having a spoken notification was an option- it is a little creepy...

unlock?

how do you reset the automatic lock i disabled it but can not reinable it? thanks
Click on the top bar (where the battery indicator is, just to the left of the task mgr)-->press the button to the right of the battery charge percentage (looks like the previous battery indicator)-->Select the "advanced" tab-->Adjust as you wish, just make sure all boxes are checked and you select an appropriate delay. I currently have mine set at 10 seconds and 1 minute for both "on battery power" and "on external power." This should cause the phone to auto-lock after each respective delay period.
thats how i have it set right now. and its still only going to sleep after a period of time its not locking .
i ran this program
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4996782&postcount=2961
then i uninstalled it cause i didnt like the lock screen on s2u2 all boxes are checked.
i ran the same .cab awhile back. the only thing that put it back was a hard reset.
also just so you know, installing the dusk slider screen will revert you to the old winmo locker when you uninstall it. so beware of that too
how do i do that? will it wipe the data?
You will need to reverse the registry changes that the cab made, then your lock will work again, make the following changes in your registry:
HKCU - ControlPanel - Keybd - DeviceLockWhenSuspend - change value to "1" from "0" (no quotes)
HKCU - ControlPanel - Backlight - AutoDeviceLockEnable - change value to "1" from "0" (no quotes)
Hope that helps, had the same problem
thank you very much
well i have not gotten this fixed but that is ok i have tried alot and i am used to the manual lock which isnt bad and the screen shuts of in 10s and it goes to the last screen which isnt to bad.
