stylus issues - Mogul, XV6800 General

I just got my replacement phone and the stylus barely "clicks" into place and dosent have that "mushy" feeling as you slide it in to place, and it take nothing to jar it loose.
is there a quick fix in this situation?

Two quick fixes 1 you can put a small piece of electrical tape around it depending on how much you need you just can add or subtract or for a more permanent solution bend the stylus ever so slightly to make it fit snugly.
One fix that will cost soem money and take a bit long
Buy a thicker stylus of ebay by thicker i dont mean buy a different phone im saying buy those heavy duty ones they dont say but there fit is a little bit tighter than the normal ones. (my current stylus is a littler skinnier one with a thicker top but i can remove the black top and its a ball point pen

I lost mine and read to avoid the cheapies, so I searched for true OEM replacements. I bought these on eBay and they work very well. There are many offered as generics or clones, only a few have the real ones. oem stylus

there's a piece of plastic that holds it in there. it sits next to the battery.

Thanks, that was driving me nuts too. I just pushed on that piece a bit and now the stylus is back to being nice and secure!

DIY scratch protection

I noticed the first scratch on the corner of my Jam today. Since electronics always take the most abuse on the corners, I devised a quick and easy way to protect the corners of my Jam while I'm in Europe for the next 3 weeks. Take electrical tape or clear satin tape and place a piece over the corners. Works best if you cut a slit in the tape so you can fold it around the corner without wrinkles. In all probability the device will land on its corners if dropped or take the most abuse on the corners if scraped against something. Thus, problem solved; I did it to my digital camera too. It doesn't look half bad on either device, and if you can't stand the black corners, just use clear tape. Any tape works as long as the adhesive won't stick to the advice after you remove the tape.
damn that's dead sexy
Damn! Why didn't I think of that????
Why don't you run the tape all the way round? I think it will look somewhat better!...
I'm sorry, but that has to be the stupidest looking thing I've seen in a long time. Why don't you just get a silicon case for about $10 off of EBAY? I mean, if you REALLY need electrical tape and that's all you can find...great. But just get a cheap latex or silicon case such as the ones from JavoEdge.com.
Do you put electrical tape on the front and rear bumper of your car too?
GHETTOOOOOOO
Just curious, what specifically do you expect to happen in Europe over the next three weeks that would necessitate such a precaution when you don't prepare against similar risks at home  ?
hehehehe... Good point JPreston!!!
I don't get it! People seem to get very upset when they discover they scratched the ball mirror on the back of their JAM. Now we have a JAM covered in electrical tape. Should we all carry our devices in the original box? Or better yet never use them to keep them in pristine condition? I am not saying I didn't get a little ticked off when I found a nice big scratch in the corner after a small drop but come on! I think we're all getting a bit too precious. Anyway, to each their own.
Of far more concern is the gunk that gets on the screen from my face every time I hold the JAM to my head! I mean yuck! What the heck is up with that? Is there that much oil on my face??? I just washed it! I gave my phone to my friend the other day to make a call and his face left some sort of super oil on the screen that wouldn't scrub off for several minutes! Its gross and embarassing! I think we need some sort of face oil protector!
Does anybody have any idea for cheap screen protection? I think the prices are outrageous for the slices of film sold as protectors.
I use the cheapest of them all...
They are made for Palm devices and are sold on flea markets or "One Dollar" stores...
They cost $1 dollar the 12 Pack!
Just cut them to size and go!
scratch? i've droped my mini 2 times and got 3 dent edges. damn sad. The stupid casing they gave me is getting pretty loose. I put it on my belt.... so everytime i knock it seems that pouch just flings out. The screw and the plastic seems to have worn off.
I think i'm gonna go to a skinning shop to hide the dent edges.
try to buy a leather case for Nokia 7610. it fits.
You dont use that in the box lether case. It will easily fall of that tiny hook.
Wit the lether case of Nokia, it is mounted sideway into the belt by a leather that is sewed.
mine has never fallen. Even if it falls off the belt when you undress, the leather case is so stiff that it will not dent the mini.
@Emil...
Can you post a picture of your JAM in the Nokia case for us to see?

Dropped mine on a concrete floor from about 1.5 meters and got a really ugly dent on one of the corners of the battery cover. The cover wouldn't even go back on!
Easy fixed though. Just took a plastic pen and pushed the dent out from the inside. It still shows a slight dent and small scratches if you look closely, but what the heck...
Anyone know of any metallic paint (model, SKU, UPC code) that I could use on my JAM? I rarely put on my seatbelt, and the one time that I decide to play safe, I scratch up the corner of my JAM. I'd never go "ghetto" as one person put it in the thread, but I'm sure there's something out there to match it up. Any ideas?
Get the jam off of your belt and put it in a proper car holder and you will not only protect it from getting scratches from your seatbelt, you will also get it charged while driving. And also one less reason not to wear a seatbelt that could save your life in the case of an accident.
Incidentally, can anyone recommend a decent car kit for the JAM? I want one I can mount with some amount of ease somewhere on the console... I don't like those ones that stick on the windscreen.

www.brodit.com
Just don't order it from Expansys as all their product descriptions for Brodit are messed up. Does anyone know where else to buy Brodit because I still need the mounting clip for my car (Expansys kept sending the wrong one). Can you buy from them (Brodit) directly?
Thanks.

Little Cap covering Car Antenna Connector missing, suggestions?

Don't know how it happened, but just looked at the back of my Tytn, and it is missing that little plastic/rubber cap that goes over the Car Angenna Connector (that's what they call it in the manual). Can anyone suggest how I could get/buy a new/used one ? I haven't seen any posts of this type of thing happening to anyone else..not sure why? I now realize that it must be a removeable cap. I am surprised that nobody else, seems to lose theirs. Anyways, any suggestions are appreciated. It certainly shouldn't cost a fortune for such a puny thing!..
see if you can find it here..
good luck.
If all else fails, try the end cap from a Bic Stic ballpoint pen -- the little plastic bit plugging the non-writing end of the pen's barrel. Should be pretty close to the right size.
Thank you for your suggestions
Will try your link,, and try your Bic suggestions.
One thing you could also do is use a piece of black electrical tape to cover the antenna hole underneath the battery door. When you put the battery door back on, it will look just as it did before as the tape will be underneath it.
I think I found an almost perfect substitute
I went to the Home Depot and bought a package of Self-Adhesive Foam and Vinyl Pads. Different sizes, but the one that I bought had black ones, different sizes. I just had to trim ,make a smaller circle out of any of the black ones, to slightly ,but barely overcover the hole, then I placed back the back cover on top of it. You should make sure that the pad isn't too thick. Mine were fine. I suppose, instead of even taking off the back, you could approach it by keeping the back on, cutting a round piece that would fit snuggly into the hole. Too boot, the sticky part, should more or less adhere to the exposed bits that are in the hole. I prefered the other way, because it adhered to the actual back of the phone, near the hole a lot better. Hopefully I helped those people find a better way, than using bic pens blunt end. I tried that , but not nearly as good as my method.

Help Stylus Stuck

I'm hoping someone might have a helpful suggestion other than "take it apart." I've been using a stylus / pen that I got off ebay. The ball point pen is hidden under a cap at the opposite end of where the stylus point is.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=190199301645&ssPageName=STRK:MEWN:IT&ih=009
It works great except that the cap came off while the stylus was inside my advantage --- and now, I can't get the stylus out. It's stuck, and there's no way to reach in and get it.
Any thoughts??
Thanks
I think you could put some glue (very little) inside the cap and then put it (the cap) into the HTC stylus hole. After a time take it out and then try to remove the glue (dissolving or smthg like that). Peter.
Thanks, I'll try that!

Just be careful not to touch the sides while sliding the pen in, or it will get very messy in there and harsh when the glue dries and come time to put a new stylus in. Thanks for the heads up because I was going to purchase a pack of 3 in 1 pens. I won't now due to the fact that it can come apart.

WOW!! IT WORKED!!!! THANKS!
Of course, do what you think is best, but I'm going to keep using it. I think the fault was mine, not the pen's.
THANKS AGAIN!
Does that stylus actually fit completley into your advantage? I have the exact same 3 pack sitting at home, ordered off ebay, and its just not capable of fitting into the slide on the advantage. Not to mention how shoddy the quality appeared to be with regards to how the 3 pieces stick together. I mean its obvious when you mix metal with plastic threads...things are gonna work loose very quickly. Anyway, I just ordered a 3 pack of 3in1 stylus from expansys that they are advertising as an exact fit, made specifically for the advantage, as well as a 3 pack of oem stylus just to make sure heh.

Body Glove Case Issues

Anyone else buy and have problems with it? I searched around after thinking I saw a complaint on it like I've got but couldn't find.
Basicly, I put it on started noticing the top was putting pressure onto the screen I think. THe touch screen got extremely laggy, unresponsivess, and just seemed to go crazy. I'm going to try sanding it down on the inside but I think that just sucks.
On top of that the phone fell out of the back/belt clip half one night and caused a nice freakin dent in my phone and allowed the battery to flip out almost down a sewer.
Anyone care to give me a positive review so I don't just throw this thing out?
Also - is it possible to buy a new physical case to replace a scratched/dented case? Not the body glove I mean the actual phone casing.

I have this case and had the same problem. I have read that many others have had it too. Honestly I dont know why a company would put out a product like this. They all should be recalled, however me being me decided to just fix it by Taking a dremel tool and shaving some of the inside part of the screen protector off, making it put less pressure on the screen. It fixed it immediately. The case does a great job in protecting the phone, just a major flaw that can be fixed if you have the time and tools. If you dont, ***** to the company and get your money back and try something else.

Yes I could see that the inside casing was a bit rough so sanding should stop the problem - but seriously that's a major issue.
Have you found that it holds the phone well though? Because I'm very upset that my phone fell out of it once already but maybe it was an error on my part and it wasn't secure enough...
I've never had the phone fall out of the body glove case.
i mangled my body glove case.
someone bumped into me and the phone fell out of the case AGAIN.
i ripped it to shreds and left it on the side of the road to rot into plastic hell.
i dont recommend this product.
I returned mine. I had the exact same issues (screen and phone falling out). It also didn't attach properly on the top left corner, it was always bowed out. I don't recommend it either.
Anyone got any else to share?
I was THIS CLOSE ( || ) to buying it. lol
Is there anything out there that's similar to it in design, but better?
returned
When all the way snapped on, mine pushed the top left corner so hard the entire screen would not respond to touch. Returned it.
My friend and i had the same issue. We just took it off messed around with it and put it back and it works fine, SOMETIMES it happens again but we just take it off and put it on.
Since there is not any other case that provides this type of protection we are keeping it. I rather my phone be safe than anything else.
I just ordered mine yesterday so I'm anxiously awaiting its arrival.
What exactly did you have to mod to get it to work? According to my readings, you just need to sand down the edges that connect with the screen right?
I may just buy the case and sand down what was mentioned. I like the design of the case..only one so far I really like.
I've been using one for about two weeks and am very happy with it. Had read about the screen pressure issue on other posts (searching helps folks), and scraped down the top corners before I put it on. Don't need a dremel tool or sandpaper. No problems, fits perfectly. The only warning is that it's a little dicey to take off once it's on -- it really fits snugly.
Yout're talking about the "sand texture" clip-on case, right? If so, yes, I bought the case too. The top cover was too tight and caused the screen issue people are mentioning. That was an easy fix by shaving down the edges that were pressing too hard (actually, I just cleaned off the coating from the plastic that was causing it... The bottom of the case however wouldn't fit at all. no matter what I tried, I couldn't get all of the clips to lock over the edges of the phone. I removed the felt lining and still had issues. I got around it by using thin double sided tape (for a temporary fix until I got a new case). I wouldn't trust the belt clip with the double stick tape though. I ordered the rubberized case on ebay and the fit is perfect. Just get that one. I sent an e-mail in to Body Glove and have had no response yet. We should all get our money back on these cases, or at least a redesigned bottom case that fits correctly. Right now it was just a complete waste of money. It's a shame, because I really liked the feel of the case.

Could you give us the link for the ebay one please!

That is the one I ordered, and the fit is perfect. The only thing I wish it had was the belt clip insert for the case included. I don't know where to find one, but I mostly keep it in my pocket anyway.
you guys want a good case that protects? check out the monaco aluminum case, it comes with a clear lens on it which I haven't removed but you could if you wanted quick access to the touchscreen. I work in the construction field and have yet to have it fall off my clip. I also dropped my tilt (when I used it) from about 8" off a ladder and it was perfectly fine. The aluminum case for the fuze isn't any more bulky than the body glove case either.

I've got one of these as well...and while it does protect the phone very well it will also lower your signal strength. I've had these type cases for the Wizard and Tilt and now the Fuze...whenever I'm in an area where the signal was a little iffy to begin with I WILL either drop the call or be unable to answer with the metal case. So, stay away from the aluminum ones if you go into lower coverage areas (and no...the slots they cut in the back to help improve the signal don't actually help.)

crack phone case and case covers.

i though i would share my thoughts on this case cover that i just bought. cost less than 5 bucks shipped from hong kong shipped (sambo-store). got it in 8 days from the time i ordered it.
fit was nice, not loose and easy to clip on. i was a bit concerned when i bought this because of the cross bar. i though it would interfere with the soft keys but to my suprise it really didnt. i press the soft keys anyways with the nail on my thumb so its no bother. if you use just the flesh of your thumb, then it will interfere. there is another case cover that you can buy without the cross bar. i bought one of those too but havent got it yet. i bought the case cover without the cross bar from a california company (ebay), for less than 8 bucks shipped and w/ california taxes. right now im happy with the cover i got on know and if for some reason it brakes, i got a spare.
even though the ad didnt say it, the case has a rubber coating on it that makes it feel grippy. also, the case does not add a lot of bulk to the phone.
my phone, x1a silver, and does not have any cracks. i can see that this case, nicely fit, can protect the phone and maybe prevent cracks. i say this because the case covers the area prone to cracking. i can see how phones may crack near the area of the battery cover because of the way the plastic angles to a thin point. i can imagine this area getting caught on the fabric of the pants or coat pocket and maybe causing the cracks. also maybe it can protect the area by the stylus by the way it kind of adds additional support around the area. it though may not help if you kind of stress the area if you happen to reinsert your stylus in a wrong manner.
if you have cracks in your phone already and tired of shipping or dont want to ship your phone back for repairs, then this case would pretty much cover the cracks. either that, get your phone repaired and then try one of these cases.
as for durability, i read that these cases break easily. i can see some truth to it becasue just by feeling around the case, i can feel and see how the edge of the case could get caught on something and would tend to pull the top cover and snap the little flimsy clips that holds it to the phone.
as mentioned, i have an x1a silver and the black case really acents the phone nicely. also, if wanted a black x1 but for some reason or another you got a silver one, putting this black case on pretty much makes it look like a black x1. most of the silver is covered and the chrome trimming is what is mostly showing.
the picture below is the type of cover that i bought even though it was from that paticular vendor. i just use the photo because it mostly matches what my phone looks like with the black case on. heck for 5 bucks, what have i got to lose.
View attachment 165334
i have the same case.. but that case cracked relatively easy.. so i bought another one. it's the same kind but it's transparent. the material for the transparent ones are different in the sense that it's stronger and i must say it looks better too. it reveals a lot of the x1a's shine.
