If I check in "Settings-System-Power-Advanced-On battery power" to turn my JAM off if it is not used for some time (e.g. 3 minutes), it goes off and then I can not turn it on. I tried to push/hold power button, nothing helped but soft reset. If I turn my JAM off manually by pushing power button I can turn it back on manually too. But after 3 or 4 times it acts just like it was turned off automatically, i.e. iregardless if I push or hold power or any button, LED flashes green and the phone does not turn on. The worst part of it is after I push Power button trying to turn my JAM on and LED indicator starts flashing green (and JAM still remains off) if somebody tries to call me he hears the signal as if my phone is ringing (not busy signal or "The number you dial is not available right now" etc.)
Does anybody know what the problem can be? I've got this problem even after hard reset with no third-party applications installed.
non functioning of on/off switch
Check the connectors of your battery on the inside of the JAM. I had the same problem and I found out that one of the connectors did not really "touch" the battery.
I checked it. The contacts on the battery look like they were scratched by contacts on the phone, so I'd think the connectors are in good contact. I even tried to put a small piece of paper between the battery and phone bodyon the left side to make sure it is really pushed to another side, it did not help either
JAM does not turn on after being turned off
Did anyone ever find out the answer to this??! I have the same problem with mine except it's a bit random - mostly doesn't turn back on again after an auto power off for a long(ish) period of time - like at night.
sounds like a possible fault is occurring. Best thing is to do a full backup of your system and then do a hard reset your device and see if the same thing is still happening. If it is, try the positioning of battery as suggested in earlier posts and if still happening, then a handheld service is required
Gday TyTN folk.
I have an iMate PDA2k and am thinking of moving to TyTN, but being a bit frustrated with my current unit I'd like to know whether TyTN makes a better phone than BA does.
My specific botherments are:
- notification light (green/red/orange) where the functions over-ride each other. e.g. if I miss a call while its charging, it starts flashing red, but then it completes charging and goes green. Actually, even if it's not charging it seems to stop flashing red after a while. I want it to keep flashing red until I actually handle the device and should have noticed.
To me it makes more sense to combine the bluetooth light with the charge light, and leave the phone notification as a separate item.
- notification icon space in start bar. Currently it's ALWAYS showing a multi-message bubble icon (I'm always in CDMA 1x coverage, and also have an app running that puts its own notification icon up) so I don't see a new one for SMS or voice message. It looks like the best answer might actually be a 3rd party start-bar app, but still.. is it any better under WM5?
- waking up. Incoming calls, messages, and bluetooth connections, wake up the device completely. If it's in the pouch, or worse, in my pocket, the screen then gets bumped, thereby performing actions I don't want to. Even getting it out of my pocket without bumping the screen is a challenge. I tried setting an unlock password (some time ago) but that wasn't satisfactory; I don't remember whether the screen still unlocked on incoming calls, or if unlocking was too much a nuisance.
Ideally, it should wake up enough so that the firm hardware buttons are unlocked but the screen isn't active until you've used a button.
The voice-recording button used to annoy me with accidental presses when removing from pouch; I changed that button to do screen rotate which I find more useful, and no big deal when pushed accidentally - just push it again.
- Sound quality, especially for the person on the other end of a call. I've had people tell me I'm faint on the iMate. Positioning is a little interesting as I don't really want to rub my face all over the screen. Does the TyTN pick up any better?
- turning the phone off. (Like Windows' contradictory "click start to shut down") I really don't like the fiddly actions required to "turn on flight mode" on pda2k, especially when I don't want to get out the stylus. People with normal mobile phones can turn them completely off using one hardware button, and they don't have to look hard to see whether it's on or off. Some have mentioned wanting an easy way to switch to/from silent mode.
Is there a quick, sensible, easy way to turn the phone on and off, preferably also to/from silent?
Thanks

First a corresponding icon (envelope, phone), after more notifications, you get a bubble (?). Not a bubble all the time.

One hardware button for standby, hold it to turn the device off completely. You get a window where you can just hit the d-pad button.
There's also a button for comm-manager, there you can select silent/vibrate mode and flight mode.
Hi, you speak of not wanting to rub your face on the screen, I actually use my TyTN in speaker phone mode to prevent this, I just quickly enable speaker on a call, and flip the phone to where the back is by my face, it puts the speaker in a good spot also, I know it sounds a bit weird, bit works pretty well.
Granted I don't do this with every call, mostly I use it when I know the call is gonna last for more than a few minutes.
notifications, buttons

You're right about the notification icon, but if I was watching the screen at the time of the additional notify then I'd already know what's there and wouldn't need the icon. On the pda2k cdma, being in a 1x coverage area generates a notification, plus mNotes puts one, so there's a bubble even before I receive any sms, voicemail etc. Combine that with the behaviour of the flashing light, it means if I missed something I may not know about it unless I go looking.
Thanks re the hardware button, that's good news.

Creative! I'll remember that one..
Sounds like you should check out PhoneAlarm
I have a weird issue with my mogul.
everything is dead on it (keyboard doesn't work, no LEDs, screen doesn't display).
yet it still works over bluetooth (can recieve calls, can listen to music, well before I reset it and closed media player).
I'm not worried as have sprint insurance so it will get replaced, just wondering if anyone has any idea what might have happened?
Maybe your blacklight died?
Try using a tool to remotely access your mogul and see if maybe the settings are turned off though, try this:
http://mymobiler.com/
I thought it could be the backlight. But, the keyboard is dead too, as are all the LEDs. Only thing that works visibly is the ringer, and bluetooth. So I can recieve calls. <shrug> going to take it to a sprint store today.
You are talking about keyboard lighting or when you press a key it doesn't work?
couldn't pick up or hangup calls with phone buttons.
couldn't get caps lock or num lock leds to light up.
only thing that seemed to work was "sound" on startup (due to reset), ringer and bluetooth for picking up calls.
phone's been replaced so can't analyze it more. sprint tech guy was like "wow, this is weird, never seen this before"
Did you try to hard reset it before you took it in?
yea, couldn't. buttons didnt work. held down the 2 soft buttons and it just booted normally (got the sound, no screen)
hey guyz,
having this strange problem last night...
my call screen, sms screen all auto rotate to horizontal and wont rotate back
when this happened, all phone calls will auto turn to loud speaker
i went home and recharge my phone, then things back to normal ...
after i unplug the power, the problem occurred again
then i try just connect the phone with the usb cable without any power on the other side... it goes normal ... until now...
(seems like something wrong with the power socket on the phone... is it possible? )
any1 met of this prob? plz help... not sure is hardware problem or software problem...
When on a call and using Bluetooth headset the screen dims or shuts off. This is very aggravating, especially when trying to use dialer for input.
Even more aggravating that happens when plugged in to power.
It dawned on me why the screen goes off on BT call. It must be because if phone is in pocket or holder it might react to screen being touched and do unwanted things, like hangup or...
BUT, if (as is the case for most of my day) the phone is in dash mounted holder and PLUGGED INTO CHARGER I want screen to stay on ALWAYS... no matter what. (which leads me to another post later)
