Display

Hi there,
I bought my htc desire hd 1,5 mounths ago and i really love it.
My gf also love the phone and yes.. she bought the same one.
If we compare the 2 phones there is a huge display qualilty diffrence.
Example;
if i put the color yellow on full screen, my phone will make it more like green.
And on my gf phone it is bright yellow.
This hapen with every color.
Even on the homescreen you see a color diffrence.
You won't notice if you don't compare 2 phones.
Before i get the questions: yes both phones have the same display settings and software updates.
I send my phone to the repair center to solve the problem, guess what they coulden't find the problem.
I Send my phone again to the repair center and again they can't find the problem. All they say is: well, its normal.
I called htc and they said: htc use 2 different displays in the htc desire hd. Maybe that can be the problem. But in real you coulden't see a big diffrence between the 2 displays.
I have to make a photo to prove it, and then they will send the problem to the main office of HTC.
I will post here a photo to if i can make a photo with my crappy camera.
Sorry for my bad english language.

Download shoot me from the market and make screenshots to post here so we can have a proper look...If you can do the same with your GF phone that would be even better so we can compare..
Great idea i will do it when i recive my phone from the repair center. That will be today or tomorrow.
is there a difference in view angles between the two?
waw i didn't know they have two types, maybe one of them is SLCD another user was reporting issues with display driver when he installs a custom rom
i have the green yellow thing, i hope the new one is not SLCD, i dont want to switch again
if your girlfriend device has better view angles than its SLCD or IPS
and taking a screenshot using an app will not show the screen difference ofcourse!

NNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Please dont start that debate up again....I cant take it anymore...
I have a hard time believing that what he was told is true...two different types?? surely not.
Nope the view angles are the same.
And about the 2 displays thats what HTC says to me.
thank god its the same angles! i didnt want that misery again hehe
another question if you look at grey areas very closely can you see some so faint scanlines? is it the same between the two?

Why do people keep saying this in threads about display problems? If both phones are displaying the same thing, the screenshots will be identical, even if the difference displays mean that they look different when looking at the two phones...
Not to bring up the debate again or anything but my screens viewing angles are great, I've titled the screens to obscure angles and I can see the screens really well. To be honest the screen looks identical to my gf's Desire in terms of colours and saturation.
Fianlly i have my phone back and found some time to make pictures.
It is verry hard to make pictures of it.
But in real you will see the diffrence in a second.
I would like to post the screenshots here, but i can't upload link to the forum yet.
Hello, you can verify if your both DHD has different screens...
There are two manufacturers for DHD screen, SHARP and AUO. (AUO is a partner / sous dealing with SHARP)
You can verify: Bootloader/Fastboot/System Info
Mine is LCD-SHARP.
i have no idea how to. You can send a link ?
htc tells me they are using 2 screens. but there should be no diffrence in brightnes and color.

Well htc say: If the repair center can't find a problem, we can't do anything.
Perhaps the display falls within a tolerance the HTC have set.
I personally would keep at them, have you tried taking it back to your point of purchase with your GF's DHD as proof that something isn't quite right.
thats what i did 2 times, they send it 2 times back to the repair center.
Bought it by Vodafone NL
hi
you can do what Nvidia32 ask you please
check yours System Info's DHD
To get that you have to start your phone in bootloader mode (power+vol down) and power more for enter in fastboot mode and choose System Info
PS: your DHD must to have ENG Hboot installed if you want see these information
sorry for my english too
yeah I'm interested in knowing the difference between the two screens as well. Can you please check them?

pink spot camera solution

Hello you all,
I would like to ask: almost everybody has this pink spot on camera. Could someone confirm that KE7 upgrade solves this problem? or KF1 ? or how to get rid of it without always changing white balance, auto contrast etc?
Thanks
nope, got pink spots on both my front and rearcam on ke7and kf1 (latest cam firmware)
So where about`s is this pink spot , does the photo need to be dark or lite to see it or what?
you will only notice on white backgrounds such as ceilings in the light.
I can see it now , I have had enough of this phone it`s going back

This is the best camera on a mobile phone I have ever seen and the pink spot is barely noticeably and most likely just a bug not a hardware problem (since both my cameras are affected)
It's an Android bug, we have it too on DHD and N1
don't see it on my desire (running 2.3.3 w/ sense)
what pink spot?? I dont see it when using camera..
EDIT: crap..i do have a pink spot..damn!!! I was feeling good for a minute

Ive got KE7 and both the camera firmware upgrades, and testing indoors and outdoors, in great lighting conditions and bad ones, I do not have a pink red or any other colour dot or area on my photo's.
I have very good eyesight and spotted this on my HTC desire, but it is not present on my SGS 2. Photo's and video's on it are absolutely spot on.
I'm on O2 Galaxy S2 unlocked.
You only get the pink spot if you set the white balance to automatic, so if you are bothered with it change it in the camera dropdown menu

[Q] The Flashlight!

Hey guys!
I have a problem with my Z1!
Everytime I take pictures in the dark, and the flash is enabled, there is a white area in my picture!!
I added pictures so that you can see what I mean!
Is it a hardware or a software problem!? I already talked to the Sony support but there was no solution!
Do you have the same problem??
Thanks for your help!
risogalo
Do you have the white version by any chance?
I know a few people have mentioned the placement of the camera flash causes some flashback, causing the white marks you see in the pictures, my camera is useless in my case, total whiteout.
Do you have a scrren protector sheet on the backside or a phone case? Try to remove both and check, if the Problem is gone.
I had this problem too, until I realized that it was caused by the protector sheet which scattered the flash light into the camera lens. I solved this by cutting the sheet area between camera and flash in shape of a V. Now the picture artefacts are gone.
Another cause for this effect can be light from the flash, reflected by your fingers. This can happen, even if the fingers are not in front of the lens itself, so you don't see them. I crippled a few photos that way, so now I take care not to touch the upper left corner of the phone while using the camera.

Yes, I have it by any chance when I take pictures in the dark! With the screen protector and without - with case and without!
And now, after 4.3 finally arrived for unbranded devices in Germany, I can slightly see an improvement of this problem!
But anyway its annoying!
But why does that happen? Will Sony send my a new phone when I send it to them? Or is this problem with every Xperia Z1??

Like I already mentioned above - this problem occurs with screen protector/case & without!!
And after updating to 4.3 I could see slightly improvements!
These pictures where taken with the intention not reflecting the light from my fingers!!!
So you can see I already tried almost everything!!
But also in general I expected a better performance of the camera!!
The HDR Mode can only be used with still objects!!??
Who came up with this s**t!?
With my mothers iPhone 4s I can take better HDR pictures!!
but anyway, is there any solution? Do you think Sony can solve this problem (by replacing my phone)?
Because I already talked to the Sony Support, and they said that I should update my phone or doing a reset!
So the support wasn't that problem-solving!

It's not Hardware or Software related, can be with software improved but the main reason is the position of the flash, it's too close to the lens. @Kirkymole already said this. Some people do not take in consideration this issue because with some settings can be improved the quality of the pictures but I actually do not paid a lot of money to waste my time to set up my camera all the time to avoid the white marks on my pictures. Nobody can said I am wrong if I said this, if the flash will be far away from the lens we will get better pictures in low light.
Try with reduced Exposure. In Manual mode you can decrease the Exposure. I tried with decreased Exposure and the picture was way better.

I can concur with the previous 2 posts that the issue is not with the phone but with the holding of the phone. I took pictures in low light and the flash reflected off my finger back onto the lens, even though my finger was not in front of the lens, I then took the same picture holding the phone by my finger nails and there was no interference. It just means that now i will have to hold the phone by the edges (slightly uncomfortable with the phone being so thin) Thanks for the input i couldn't for the life of me figure out what it was but discussing it here helped. It seems so trivial now but thanks guys.

14w19 XPERIA Front Camera Issue

Hi XDA,
I just bought my Xperia Z2 yesterday and i went to the batch numbers topic and checked for Issues reported by people there. Fortunatelly i dinot have any issues but today i noticed the front camera quality was very poor. There is a Yellowish reddish tint that appears on the front camera however the back cover is fine. The picture is like thousand of small dots flicker on the screen and if i keep it very close to my face then i can notice it. If I click the Picture the picture seems to be completely fine.
Can any one of you please check and let me know if you are also facing this kind of Issue?

Yes the finished picture is fine but while taking the picture it has a lot of noise. I have checked it with service center guys and they have called me tomorrow to update my firmware to see if issue is resolved otherwise they would replace the phone. However, talking to few people here in XDA it seems that noise issue is there with Sony camera and if the finished picture is fine it is not much of an Issue. So, I am thinking to get the software updated to latest build and then dont take replacement and keep using it.

Yes I agree. The video has hell lot of noise. But the picture comes out clear. I took the phone to service center and they reflashed the firmware and issue was still there. He told me he can replace the phone for me, but i refused as this is only the problem and i dont want to get a newphone which is of a different batch and has hell lot of other Issues.
Yeah, I've had this problem since I got the phone. I made a thread a couple weeks ago about it being an issue. I'm not updated to the current software, but I didn't think it would help, lol.
And it is very important to me as I'm a SnapChat whore in every meaning of the word, and, for some reason, the final image when taken in SnapChat is NOT made better as if it were taken with the Camera app.
I also have a 14w19, and I see what you mean. I don't mind so much as I don't use the front camera a whole lot (only with SnapChat, and the video quality isn't always the nest there anyway). I'm not bothered.
I'm bothered that for $700, the hardware and perhaps software in this case is so obviously flawed. I mean they really advertised the hell out of their camera prowess. But the front camera looks like the whole screen is dipped in sand.
It is clearly a software issue and I think it dosnt matter what batch you have, mine is 14W18 and in with really low light I have this issue but if there is some light left there is no problem at all and also the back camera did not have any kind of this issue in my case.
I'm sure that it's a software issue. Why else would the picture be correct after actually taking it with the built-in Camera app?

It's hard to tell what you mean exactly here. Are you saying the display on the screen has small dots on it or the picture it takes is not good.
is this something that comes across in a video chat or not as in the other person sees the same as well.

I have this too (and I suspect everyone does)
The front camera is quite simply not very good. The reason the captured image comes out slightly differently is most probably because it's a longer exposure (than realtime preview) and there's also some noise reduction in the post processing)
