Just saw on the WMPoweruser.com.
Youtube has created a native Windows Mobile application for displaying their videos on your phone, and its pretty good.
The user interface is attractive and uses fluid animations, and video quality is also very good, and apparently adaptive to the speed of your own connection
To download the app, visit http://m.youtube.com from your device. More cool features and app improvements are on the way, and the app will alert you as updates become available and allow you to upgrade with a single click.

I can't say wich is better as long as I couldnt test it thought
The "standard" youtube app on Diamond is good I know but there are some things I don't like. For example I would love to see the german videos on start not the english ones. Any clues?
Greetings, lordcoffee
Well all I can say this new official youtube app is ugly and slow compared to the default htc youtube app.
So thanks for saving my time!
I actually quite like the app. The app searches and loads video much faster than the standard HTC youtube app.
Edit: Second thought, some videos are jerky on the youtube app but not on the HTC one. It still needs some improvements.
Btw..you need to go to the International page using IE to get the download link
is it somehow possible to provide a cab here?

I found a way around this.
If you are using a ROM with PIE 6 on it, you will need to use Opera to download the app, as YouTube Mobile doesn't recognize PIE 6.
Pop open Opera, and go to opera:config, scroll down to User Prefs and click on it, scroll down to Custom User-Agent and change it to "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows CE; IEMobile 7.11)", scroll down to save and have it.
After that close out of Opera completely and open it back up. Browse to m.youtube.com and you should see the download link right below the search bar.
The default Raphael Opera User Agent should be "HTC-P4600/1.2 Opera/9.50 (Windows NT 5.1; U; en)"
Hah! Extreme Sheep LED Art is one of the best things on youtube!
+1 for adding the cab here
I installed this cab and I didn't like it any better than the original youtube client, when I went to uninstall it, it uninstalled the youtube client. Now I can't watch youtube videos anymore unless I do it through the "streaming media". Does anybody have the cab for the stock youtube client app for the diamond. Thanks.

Was wondering that myself. A bit silly. I just went into the Start Menu folder and deleted one of them. I think the smaller of the two. Still works fine.
I work for Veveo Inc. who provide the vTap service.
1. We are looking into the issue with the 2 icons in the programs folder. In the mean time, if you want to remove the vtap(1) icon, I have posted a process to remove it at this link: http://www.vtap.com/faq.html#rq11 .
2. We are looking into the upside down video on the Hermes phone. This has been seen now on a couple of HTC phones. I will post back when we have a solution for that problem.
Hi,
I have an issue with Vtap, it won't connect to the server, why??
It says "Server is temporary unavailable, please click 'retry' to try again.
It keeps saying that over and over again when I'm at home using WiFi. Interestingly, when I go to a hotspot location, it would work.
I have tried to reconfigure my router to put my phone in the DMZ to open all ports but it still won't work?
What is going on?
Btw, I'm living in Singapore, if it matters.
I really like vtap. I think its an awesome app and it pretty easy to use. Of course with T-mo US only being able to offer edge it kind of kills the overall experience for me. But I tried this with a WiFi connection and it works perfect with a high speed data connection.
Must say I haven't checked the wiki or the faq, but it is a real nice videoplayer for youtube etc.

Hello All.. We have posted a new version of the vTap client. This version has a number of bug Fixes:
1 - Storage Card - Previously if you requested vTap to be installed on a storage card, it would still get installed into the main memory of the phone. This has been fixed, and vTap will now be installed onto the storage card.
2 - Double Icon - Previosly when installing vTap, there would be 2 icons created in the Programs folder. Now after installing, there should be only one icon.
3 - Proxy Issue - There was an issue when connecting through some proxies where you would not be able to play clips. An error would be reported indicating the resolved clip is empty. This issue has been resolved.
You can install the latest version of the vTap client by pointing the browser on your phone to www.vtap.com, and downloading the appropriate application.

The easiest way to install vTap is to just open the Browser on your phone, and go to the site www.vtap.com. You will then be prompted to download the correct .cab file and the installation should start automatically.
HOW do I watch YouTube vids on my Mogul by HTC? I tried downloading the flash player. Didn't work. PLEASE HELP!
Search The Threads!!!!
You are looking for TCPMP player and flash video bundle.
HTC's Streaming Media is good too. It uses YouTube Mobile quality, (a good amount more compressed,) but it streams great. I prefer TCPMP.
I followed the article written at Treo Central and it works great on my XV6800.

Attached is FlashVideoBundle 1.4.4 and TCPMP 0.72RC1 for PocketPC. I used these CAB on my phone.

Yes, as of now these are the newest versions. In terms of performance I have not tried any other versions.
I used Opera Mobile before my trial ran out (after the rom upgrade I can use it for another 30 days, then might pay the $24). There's an option to identify your device to websites as a desktop computer, so you don't automatically get forced into a "mobile" version of a site such as YouTube. Opera Mobile also supposedly has a flash player built in, but I haven't tried it.

Why isn't anyone adding Skyfire as the default browser on any of these ROMS? Just asking. I've heard great things about Skyfire but I'm guessing you guys must know something that I don't. I'm sure there has to be a reason. Would it work with the Push Internet function on Rhodium?
When I had my smartphone I used skyfire all the time, but when I started using HTC devices skyfire just looked crappy to be honest. Its pretty low resolution and opera looks soo much better.
Yup yup!
Low res
Crappy looking
I ONLY use it for flash player to stream videos off websites.
i knew there was a reason.
but does Opera support flash and play videos on as many sites as Skyfire?
Robes1,
Opera doesn't support flash, but you can stream off it. I have Coreplayer so when I click on a video off a website like youtube. Coreplayer would open up and play the video. Unlike Skyfire it would open right from the site and play.
I have a different problem, ive had my TP2 for 2 days now and flashed my first ever rom onto a phone just last night (thanks to the great walkthrough on this site)
So I went to put skyfire on my phone but when I go to the skyfire site on my phone it tells me it's not compatible with my phone? I don't think I'm doing something right. I downloaded the skyfire software to my computer, same with google maps, and I guess I just dont know how to add applications to my phone. I couldn't find a walkthrough on how to add apps through any faq or with the search function (including google searching lol)
I apologize for being such a noob but can anyone help? I imagine adding an app should be as simple as clicking dragging and setting up but I guess I'm just not technologically smart enough to grasp this. Any help would be appreciated!
make sure that you are installing the cab file. If I remember correctly, you can download a pc installer and a cab file. the cab file is what you install on the phone. I use skyfire all the time even though it looks terrible on my beautiful TP2 screen.

roms not having manila folder
about everyone adding opera as default browser having it embedded in the rom is a bit of a pain. it seems that a lot of them are removing the manila folder out from application data folder and also removing the internetportal.xml file. that file was able to be edited and have you launch whatever browser you wanted from the internet tab in touchflo3d. only rom i have found that still has this folder and file is Romeos rom v1.04 which is available to download. u can then go here http://www.fuzemobility.com/how-to-change-the-tf3d-default-browser/ and make skyfire your default. works with romeo rom

I have IE, Opera 9.7 and Opera Mobile. Not sure if I should try to uninstall one of the previous and install skyfire.

Opera runs smoother than Skyfire, Stick with Opera.
A short time back Skyfire did come out with a version that greatly improves the resolution on VGA and WVGA devices.
Skyfire uses a proxy server. So your data all travels to and from someone elses storage. There is the potential of them collecting personal info on you. Not that I'm paranoid, but it is a good reason for a manufacturer not to build it into a device.
Skyfire tends (IMHO) to not handle a lot of different web sites. I have more issues with it then Opera.
But I keep it installed in case I want to visit a flash enabled site.
It looks ugly and it doesn't use the zoom bar.
Wait, so it supports silverlight? Does that mean I can watch netflix on my phone?

Skyfire 1.5 is nicer to look at and will allow you flash on over 90% of the internet sites.
if it worked with games i would be all over it, otherwise my broswer of choice is opera mini.
i've noticed most flash content on websites are in the form of advertisement anyway lol
This is the latest and greatest skyfire for tp2.. its a close 2nd to opera.. looks nice now and loads quicker.. Enjoy!
I was struggling with the flashOperafix - it didnt work properly, was crashing my browser, etc. I also did not find any plugin which would start the videos in the build-in YT app. But by pure luck I found a solution which is... Opera 9.7 .
Actually it is not the same Opera 9.7 which is provided in HTC HD2 - it is some tweaked or newer version which I think is available only in some networks. Anyway I installed this Opera as mine stopped working completely...
The first thing I did after install was checking out YT and the funny thing - it works like charm! But the best thing is that the video starts in the YT app and when you close it it goes back to the browser! So it works even better than on Safari and the iPhone!
Maybe sb already found it but if not... you need to check it out . Now I'm really happy with my Opera browser and I will try some more pages . I wanted Flash only for YT videos anyway...
I couldn't attach the file (bigger than 8MB) so here's a direct link:
http://www.mediafire.com/?kmtwjynzn4m
If the link stops working it's called "Miri_Opera97_TMO201" so you can google for it.
EDIT: Dailymotion works too! It says it is not compatible with our devices but I ignored and all videos work . The only downside is it does not support embeded videos on other sites but you can't have everything .
Does it support all the functions of the default Opera on the HD2,like multy touch or text page rendering etc.
Does it replace the original opera or I can install it on the storage card an have the best of the two worlds!! as is the case with the Opera 10 which I have installed it on my SC.

Works exactly like standard Opera 9.7, supports multi-touch, etc. - and it seems to be a little bit faster and more stable. On my phone it replaced the original Opera 9.7 and I'm very happy with that - I think you can install it without worrying as it is exactly the same Opera only better .
Thanks i am already downloading it and will try it soon,my only concern was that if i dont like it I had to HR my device to get back the original Opera, now that seem to be unecessary.
thanks.
I installed it and it works like a breeze!
Just for your information:
The concept it uses is very simple. It adds a m. in front of the youtube link like: m.youtube.com so it basically redirects you to the mobile version of youtube and saves you the hassle of adding the m. yourself (wich worked very well in the original version of Opera)
I tested the ROM artemis 26 ESN, but seems to no work.
I must say that I have customized registration User Agents to be "Desktop" and can influence it, to others of other changes ...
Maybe that's what you do not work for me, anyway thanks for the link.
Greetings.

I don't use Opera 10, but I know the m.youtube problem is also present in Opera 9.7. In the m.youtube homepage, you should see a "Show Full Version" (something like that) at the very bottom of the page.
Just a thought: Do you have anything in the Opera 10 Settings/Menu page that says "View Mobile pages"? If so, make sure that is unchecked.
I have both Opera browsers on the HD2. Not sure what opera version is the default, but I have no issues with getting the mobile sites. The default Opera will go to the real sites "non-mobile." I decided to get Opera 10 because a saw a video of it installed and you could enable flash, show I can watch "real' youtube videos. I really want flash so I can watch TV from fancast.com. I didn't see and full version option, but there is a check box for "mobile view;" checked off or on there is no difference.

opera 10 doesn't play flash any better than opera 9.7. Youtube and a select few other videos can be watched, but something like fancast will probably require skyfire.
Opera 10 issue
I have recently had a problem with Opera 10. I no always get an error message stating 'could not find proxy server' or 'the url address is busy' etc. Reverting to opera mobile 9.7 removed this problem. Something to consider.
(If anyone knows how to fix this I'd be chuffed. I don't want to hi-jack the thread).

Facebook started doing that to me - I don't want to use m.facebook, but it's quite hard (even with bookmarks) to stay on the full web site.
It was working fine - and I didn't change my version of the browser - so I assume facebook themselves changed something, but it must still be something to do with the way opera mobile identifies itself with a web site.
And certainly don't want to use the Microsoft fb app - what a stunning demonstration of how not to write an app that was
