Offline Messaging in Windows Mobile Live Messenger - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

I was just wondering if anyone has come accross anything that enables one to be able to chat whilst appearing offline on Windows Live Messenger for Windows Mobile that I have on my diamond.. works a treat.. only sometimes you just dont want to have to say 'sorry can't talk to you right now' when you sign in to lots of people!!

well with live I know you could sign in and appear offline but I don't know if you could converse with others while in that state.

Thats right.. you can log in however you cannot converse while remaining offline.. is there nothing that can be done to enable this feature?

I would like to know it too!

You can try others free istant messengers like this http://www.lonelycatgames.com/?app=slick. Whit it when you appear offline you can speak with other peoples and send nudges too

Messenger 4 wizzard!!!

I realy need a good messenger like IM+...or something like Yahoo.Go(i know it's for symbian only)..but a messenger thet realy work...
By the way...i use only Yahoo Messenger.
Tnx in advance...
I have tried all of them. Most people seem to like Agile and I even thought I did at first. Problem is, with GPRS/EDGE it disconnects constantly. If you receive a phone call, your connection drops and you will still appear online for a little while after. So if someone sends you a message when in this state, you never receive it. I have an issue with dropped messages.
I found the most stable backend IM client to use is Verichat. It is both TCPIP and SMS based from what I have seen. You always appear online no matter what state your phone is in. If you receive a message when your phone is off or on a call, the message will be sent via SMS. If your device is on and you have the app open, you will receive the message via TCPIP. It also has BOTS that can be added to your bud list for handy things like movie times, driving directions, etc. It also supports all major IM services.

MSN Messenger

Hi,
I am really new to Windows Messenger on the PC but a couple of friends use it and we had a video link over Xmas which was great. It dawned on me that the Exec would be great for this instead of the PC as it has everything needed (ie camera and mic) built in. However, when I got it working with MSN Messenger I found I could only do text messaging. Is this correct and if so is there any way round it? It seems rather stupid to have all the hardware but not be able to achieve this.
Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a stupid question
Simon
as far as i aware it is not yet possible to have a "webcam chat" over mobile messenger.....as for the mic.....windows live mobile messenger will let you send voice clips to people. i have found this to be very usefull.

Apache : AIM

i'm wondering, i always see people on these forums talking about aim, i know theres ALOT of programmers on here, why doesn't anyone just make one for the apache? something like tmobile sidekicks aim. with balloon tips telling you when someone im's while the app is minimized... anyways just a thought.
I just use IM+ from Shape services,
http://www.shapeservices.com/en/index.php
Either that or, if you don't wanna pay for anything, look up Palringo.
It lets you use multiple accounts at once, doesn't popup and ruin what you're doing when you get a new IM, and it's FREE. The only problem is the fact that it doesn't save conversations, so once you close out of a window, you had better remember what that conversation was about.
AIM for WM 6
I have AIM running on WM6-- Works great!

Instant Messagers

are there any free IM's for yahoo messager that will alert you when you get an instant message?
mmmmm Instant massages.
Did you try Fring?
I am using Palringo. It's free and does some nice things, can quickly capture and send a picture (url to it), send voice files.
It also supports Google Talk, Hotmail (i think?).
goto beejive.com and try jivetalk. its a little buggy alpha but still pretty good.
the best one is Agile. it does all the messaging services, it has been around a LONG time, no bugs, very trimmed down but supports video, voice, and it's free...here's a link: http://www.agilemobile.com/

i must have downloaded an already regg'ed CAB file then, cause ive used mine for over 2 months.
#10, thanks for the info on Slick. I've been using it for a few days and I like it.
Best of all, for me at least, it supports custom status messages and "Idle" time on Yahoo.
Thanks again, I didn't come across it when I was searching for IM clients.
Id use slick but it has problems with away messages and does not play nice with clients such as trillian or pidgin. People dont receive your messages at all. IM+ seems to be the best solution. I tried jivetalk it crashed too much. Palringo was okay but did not support tabbed ims . My only gripe with IM+ is the screen flashes as you hit enter during typing. Almost like flickering. Slick or the others didnt do that.
But IM+ feature wise is very good, and has a today plugin for listing new received ims.
IM+ .Parlingo. Both very good programs.

my one gripe with IM+ is that when the person you are talking to is using the "official" AIM client it will randomly lock up when they send you a messege
i love that i can do voice chat over agile. it rocks. glad i downloaded a free version on accident, lol. works like a charm.

I've been using slick 0.38. I can explain to you how to uninstall .42 and install .38(it involves a reg edit). PM me if you want, or someone reply here if there's enough interest and I'll write up a quick doc for it.
On a more serious note. I am using Fring. But memory consumption is a problem.
Does anybody out there know if there is a way for you to be offline, and shown in your buddies contact list but in away mode, and then when they send you a message maybe it pops up a message on their contact list saying that you are currently away but if they would like to page you that the program would call your phone with an sms message to jump online and log into your IM program?
Confused yet? Me too.

I have uninstalled Fring and am now using Palringo. Much happier. The memory footprint is way smaller. I like the threaded messages and the ability to send recorded voice messages and photos thru IM. I dont use Skype so Fring is just more program than I need.

Can anyone recommend me...?

Can anyone recommend me a good completely free aim for the htc 8525? I would like to have my full buddy list, work on 3g not texts and have a good notification like screen pop up and vibration with ever new im. Also please dont make it that you show up as online on a mobile fone and dont make it that u have to refresh your buddy list like oz messenger.
Does anyone know of a program like this?
