Would the Motorola HT820 headphones work on Trinity?
They're working fine for me; the only tweak I did was to disable the JointStereo so I have proper stereo audio - there are a million threads about that around here, it's in the registry.
I have the SYN0948D model of the HT820, which I think is the newest, for previous ones there's a flash firmware update that may fix some skipping.
oh! Mind answering some questions for me?
How are they for music? Sound good? Any major problems? I use TCPMP for music.... will the controls work that are on the headphones themselves? How about the battery life (of the phone and the headphones?).
It seems the headphones also have a mic? Does that work with the phone?
Id appreciate if you could answer these for me... thanks!
The sound quality for music is certainly not what I'd call perfect.
Put it this way: I attached them using the supplied 2.5 -> 3.5 mil connector to my high-end audio card in my PC, and they sounded pretty good for headphones of their size.
However, when running over Bluetooth there is a noticeable drop in audio fidelity. I don't know whether to attribute that to the Trinity or to the headphones, but I suspect the Trinity. Maybe it's downmixing the audio?
There is a lot of A2DP tweaking you can do to find the best balance between audio quality and skipping/reception; I left it fairly close to the defaults for now, and I'll probably play with it more later.
The mic works with the phone and the audio quality for voice calling is outstanding. It sure makes a difference to hear a person in both ears - when I use them I almost never have to ask a person to repeat themselves. I haven't heard what anyone else sounds like when calling from the Ht820s, but friends say that they can hear a slight echo depending on the room I'm in. Makes sense because the room I usually call from is a smallish office/den with wood floors and lots of echoes.
I am going to fire up TCPMP right now to try to play a song with it. I've been using PocketMusic but it sucks balls...
Plays the song just fine, but it doesn't seem to support the next/prev track buttons at all. I tried to map them in the Hot Keys section, no dice.
PocketMusic and WMP both seem to work with the buttons, for what that's worth.
If you need anything else, just PM me like last time.
Yah I tried pocketmusic... it blows. I use tcpmp for everything. I suppose I can just use the controls on the phone itself.
I currently use the shure buds.... I hope Im not too used to the great quality ive been getting on them.
Had my g1 a few days now and have to say its brilliant!
My only gripe and its a big one is the thin tinny sound the device outputs.
I wouldn't mind more bass out of the thing if that's possible,
I can't find an equalizer in music player or settings does one exist?
I've tried market place but coundnt find anythging there either.
Anyone else think this or help?
I find the ringtone abit too quiet.. have been missing calls all weekend, not fun!!!
Coming from the Artemis, this is a very loud fone on full pelt.
I've found myself using the loudest mp3 I could find so's I can hear the phone when its in its case. Let's hope we get a solution either in an update or app?
Cheers

Your correct mate sound is really tinny needs a lot more bass. There isnt a equilizer app at the mo but if i find one will post results up here!!
thanks mate, that would be great!
my solution is to increase or Amplify the mp3 using Audacity.
u can;t increase it too much cause it gets distored but u can test it until it sound decent and loud enough.
i wish they put the speak at the top or something..
sorry if this is already on forum..
so.. when i was recording in the club with n95, e71.. sound was ok.. but with HTC HD2, sound is terrible!!!!!
is there some tip? tweak to reduce microphone sensitivity, etc??
thank you very much.
bump pls....
thnx
Another bump from me for this
Older PPC devices used to have a Control Panel setting for microphone AGC or manual level settings but I can't find anything in the registry that looks likely.
I've tried using the HD2 to record video at both a rock concert (very loud) and a folk concert (not very loud!) and both had good video but highly distorted sound levels.
Apart from sticking some blutack over the microphone, are there any other suggestions?

Same problem here.
With the n95 i had no problem geting good sound on my video when recording at a party with loud music. But with all my HTC phones i get crapy sound.
Is there any solution to this, exept asking the dj to turn the music down?
I know that this thread is old, but... has anyone found any solution on this?
I was in a Guns'n'Roses European Tour last night in Barcelona, and today i've been watching the videos. All videos have the sound distorted and useless, i'm very dissapointed on it.
I know that Samsung Galaxy S has the same problem , but seems that audiobooster solves it
showthread.php?t=758326
Is there any similar on the HD2?
not only nokia n95 but iphone users enjoy very good sound while recording
on our HTC HD2 it's seems like the mic gain to much volume and alot of bass enter the mic
which cause bad sound like the speaker going to ripoff from the device
any suggestion?
When I talk on this phone, the sound is very poor... Although not too loud (like other complaints) but the sound crackles at high frequencies... The speakerphone is even worse...
Is anyone aware of some tweaks to improve communication sound on this phone?
Can AudioBooster be set up to work with the phone's sound not only the music player? Any other options ???
Thank you in advance.

I think the high volume on this phone is artificially boosted over what it's meant to be, i.e. HTC have modified the audiopara (or something like that) in the Windows folder to try and boost the speakers sound over what it's meant to be.
(Something that ROM coookers figured out on the Diamond I think).
I think, maybe someone can reduce those values back to normal? The speaker will be a little quieter, but it won't crackle or distort as much.

Which radio do you recommend? I have Leo_RADIO_2.07.50.27_2 and a terrible sound while on the phone.
Sound is to loud, impossible to lower volume enough. Much distortion even at lowest volume (which still is to loud). Bad sound in cable handsfree and BT handsfree.
Soundquality while playing music on the other hand is perfect in speaker, handsfree and BT handsfree.
Suggestions?
Since sound is often a pretty subjective matter, so I'd like to interject that the phone network only transmits from around 300 Hz to 3,000 Hz. Therefore the sound of a voice over your phone will never sound as clear and nice as it should, let alone like the 192 kbps-MP3-file you are playing
If it's worse compared to other phones however it's, as stated above, likely a problem with the radio. I use the 2.08.50.08_2 from [REF]The HTC HD2 Radio ROM Thread and have a quite decent quality.
I agree totally - if it sounds good or bad is individually. But, the sound quality in my HD2 is far worse than in my 5 years old SonyEricsson, and when I borrowed a Nokia the other day I was surprised how good (clear, crisp, distorsion free) a cell phone can sound.
I have a lot of distorsion and all too loud sound. Often I have to hold my phone 20 cm away from my ear just to avoid getting half deaf..
Thanks for the tip, I'll try the 2.08.50.08_2 Radio and hope for a better sound
you can try this hotfix...worked very well @my hd2
i got this from another forum.
little info: some users said that the soundlevel is now always set up to 100%...but try it on your own!

Thanks, trying it now, will report back after tomorrow's hardcore testing at work..
Return it if you can...
I had Nokia E71 before and it's speaker is fo another level better than HD2... BUT, question is: when I'm gonna use speakerphone on my HD2? ... almost never
Seems better, but a little to subjective at the moment. Will keep trying and report back!
Definitely better after the patch. Quite good actually. I have not seen any side effects yet, only clear sound, and better volume.
Thanks for the hotfix!
Will try it on my colleague's phone also now.
sound quality
I used the hotfix as well but it appears to have made no difference whatsoever to the quality of sound during calls , so my phone is going back to htc again and if it returns with the same issues i will ask for a replacement as due to the ammoun of posts on here this is a major flaw in the phone and a highly irritating one too , i love this phone but the audio quality during calls is appalling in comparison to all my previous phones .
After a couple more days of testing I found out that the patch gave no effect at all. BUT: I found out another thing: Even though the system volume is at lowest according to the meter, if you increase, you actually lower the volume. So, if you during a call first increase and then decrease the volume, it gets acceptable. Still to loud though.
So, it seems like what HTC really should do is to get the dialer use the sound mixer properly. Today it is obviously oversteering which creates distorsion.
this is a war we won't win

I've bought my HD2 back in Dec the 11th and since then I've been in contact with HTC about fixing this problem. They've given me a debug tool to run on my device, sent the logs twice and so far they've done nothing about it. I've given up. What I do for outgoing calls, while it rings I turn the volume all the way up and then all the way down before the other party answers. doing this you get a decent sound. Can't do much about the incoming calls,
As far as flashing different radios and roms... I've flashed about 30time already. tried all the possible radio/rom combinations but with only slight different results. Nothing to brag about!
the fix I attached helps a little bit!
If anybody finds and cure let us all know! please!!!!!
I bet some of HTC HD2 owners have been trying to improve the dedicated music player with the audio booster app.
Audio booster in my opinion provides a better sound quality overall when switched "ON" and for some picky sound gurus is still not good enough to satisfy.
The recommended option over the htc hd2 forums is to use SRS WOW app for htc but still I think there is a distortion in order to get the better bass,treble,3D sound and music stage level.
I have flashed my t-mobile phone has been flashed about 30 times and most was because in between the all good and stable roms there was a sound quality after has been eq-ed by the booster.
Here what I found out and I don't have a technical explanation since I don't cook and roms.
I install the rom X and then advanced conf utility and then I do audio booster but an old version and restart.
Audio booster older is a bit hard to adjust on HD2 but once you do it you suddenly realizing the music quality is better in terms of bass, treble and stage.
How come? I always ask myself and the closest answer i get is the different driver in the Win MO 6.5 system.
If anybody has any thoughts and willing to share I'll be happy to listen.
I have to tell you guys even on a very low volume the bass is vibrating and your ears shaking. I have my UE Pro 10 professional musician phones sound amazing like there is an additional amplifier for boosting the eq settings.
This is the audio booster.cab I'm using making a big difference:
Htc_Audio Booster-VGA-OldMod
My adv. config has audio booster settings changed to very high on treble, bass and 3D.
Give me your thoughts and advise what is the reason I get a better sound with an older HTC audio booster app.
Get SRS WOW app. You can tweak all of the auso settings.

Understood and many thanks for all your advices guys!
Question:
I tried a few different versions of SRS including the latest one to my knowledge 2.3 and I noticed the balance moves to the left.
Anybody has the same problem?
The sound is great and 3D takes great effect.
Any thoughts?
