So I just got a great deal on two Touch phones from Sprint and one of them is great. The other has a terrible looking LCD with poor viewing angles and washed out colors. Does anyone else have a Touch with a crappy LCD?
well my Touch is about to be replaced, the last 2 had the same problem, where my LCD stoped working, like it would "stick" on one side and continuously press down. making the rest of the screen useless. 3rd replacement is on the way to the store. personaly.. im kinda tired of these phones. i might jump into a Pro

Well I got a "refurb" 8525 from ATT and it was sweet. Until the screen stopped responding to touch. So I had ATT send me another(at my charge first). Well the second one arrived quite quickly but it has the obvious yellow(pee'd on) looking screen. Next to my other 8525 the difference it very obvious. To me anyway. My broke 8525 has white whites. Whereas my replacement one has a yellowish white. I'm kind of miffed about it. I think I'm going to call and have them replace it one more time and see what happens. If I get another yellowish screen I guess I'll have to deal with it. Also I notice the speaker on the replacement is "louder" but more "muffled". Strange. I used the same Black rom on both units so there shouldn't have been any differences software wise.
Anyone else experience this? I'm thinking that maybe my replacement had a cracked screen and they replaced the screen with a lesser quality one...?
Hi all, I was wondering if anyone else is having the same issues as I am with my new 6800. I have noticed that on occasion the screen will change to a very light greenish hue when I press on the screen with the stylus. The screen immediately changes back to normal once I pull off the screen. This seems to happens several times throughout the day. Is this normal? Any possible fix? or return it? Thanks for your help!
Great forum BTW...
Yes, sometimes I do notice the hue change, but it doesn't happen very often. I don't believe it's a defect since I've seen it in more than one Mougls (though one had it worse than the other; the hue alternates with every tap or key press). Some expert opinion on this would be nice.
Not normal~! The first batch of Moguls did not have this issue and they came with a harder screen to the touch. the HTC replaced the screen to a inferior quality resulting to this issue. I am a witness to this. We have to live with it or nag enough about it. I personally made Sprint and HTC replace my Mogul4 time for this and every replacement had this issue. So to prevent myself from being dropped from, the service I will just suck it up. Sad indeed. But i least I gave them hell for it.
If what you're saying is true, then perhaps the three bright spots on my screen (from pressure against the carrying case) is also a result of this inferior screen. Curse HTC for their cheap antics!

I guess I'm going to go ahead and just live with it. I really don't want to go through the hassle of returning it just to get another that has the same issue or possibly something worse. Thanks all for your input.
WRONG.
not a hardware issue, really.
You'll notice the scroll wheel also sometimes causes it.
Its a driver issue... when any input is received (screen tap, hardware button, etc...), the screen hue shifts every so slightly. Most don't notice it.
Some people on ppcgeeks have reported that depending on the rom you use, sometimes it goes away.

Sorry, But I already went thru issue with HTC and SPrint. Neither both know why but they call it a defective unit. Reason why I state that the screen is different because I am furtunate to have bought 2 Mogul on the first day it was released. One for me and one for my GF. Then my Mogul ended up breaking its Stylus clip form the housing of the phone so like a moron I went over to have it replaced my Sprint thru the manufacture warranty. Spring decided to give me a onetime replacement thru the warranty. So when the phone got here first thing I noticed was a yellow color hue to the backlight and the screen kept changing from somewhat bluish tint to yellowish tint using any buttons including the scroll wheel and taping the screen. Immidietly I called Sprint and explained y frustration with this new usnit. They concluded that it was a defect. So the next mogul shipped had the same issue exept this one had a back backlight that kept shutting off. Again I sent it back and the forth mogul that I received had AGAIn a yellow look to it and dimmer backlight. I called Sprint and they said again that it was defective and to send it back. Now i finally got my 5th Mogul and this time the backlight was not yellow but more of a cold bluish color but more acceptable. It was not as brite as my first mogul but I just gave up on getting mogul after mogul and just decided to keep this one because I am sure If I send it back then Sprint will send me another yellow colored hue backlight again. How do I know that all my backlight on all those Moguls were kinda funny? Because I had my GF mogul in which was one of the first moguls sold. And comparing all the moguls to hers you can definately tell they are different. Also I must note that her screen is harder than all the new Moguls that i got. ALl my replacements including my current Mogul have a softer screen. Very noticable. That why I know for a fact that they changed screens to a inferior quality to cut cost. I must recommend everyone with this same issue to have them call Sprint and have them replace your unit. This way they can force HTS from replacing screens int he near future. Here is a pic of a mogul with a yellow hue backlight that flikers different colors when tapped or using the scroll wheel. You can see how the Mogul on the right is soo much whiter like it should be, this is my GF mogul. Her manufacture date is May 3 2007. One of the first batch of good moguls. Now you can see that my story is real and I am not lying or making up anything about the screen being different. So its not a driver issue. Its a DIFFERENT SCREEN all together. Remember when you break you mogul and have it replace.. compare both screen before you decide to stay with your replacement.
PS. My GF screen is very White and Bright and never flickers different colors when tapped. Its rock solid. And also if I tap it normaly I can really feel a different in how much harder her screen feel. Im 100% this is a very superior screen ALL moguls should come with. But we are not HTC and cant forced them to switch back

Wow from reading people's comments I didn't think it was that bad. After seeing your picture though, that is completely unacceptable. Send a letter to HTC along with the photo and demand they send a replacement!
You know... im sick of having to wait a week for replacement AFTER REPLACEMENT from sprint and the same bad screen i get. But i will emal HTC and see what they say.
I saw an interesting issue with 2 G2 Phones when I went to upgrade today and I wanted to see if others saw the same artifacts.
1.) When holding the screen under bright light, it looks like you can see "through" something and it appears like you can see a pattern of some sort either on the LCD itself or maybe some sort of polarizer. If this was the only thing I noticed it wouldn't have been an issue.
2.) When on a dark or black screen, you can see vertical "stripes" of dotted white lines. This was the deal breaker for me. I purchased the upgrade, they handed it to me and all I could see were these vertical stripes of white dots across the screen.
The other G2 did this as well. Were these a bad batch of G2s? Is this some sort of artifact of the IPS screen? I was coming from a Droid HD which had nothing of the sort but it isn't nearly as high resolution of a screen.
I ended up with a Note 3 because of this. It wasn't my first choice, but there was no way I could look at those stripes for 2 years!
Are any others seeing this artifact on the screen?
Thanks!
It's the digitizer. All G2's are that way I believe. Not a defect. Some phones you can just see it more than others.
OP let me get this straight, you don't like the phone because of the dot matrix you see when the phone is off and in direct sunlight?
You are right I couldn't live with looking at my phone while off for 2 years

It's when the screen is BLACK or DARK while the screen is on. I think whomever suggested the digitizer is probably right.
One of the artifacts didn't really bother me, I was more so fascinated by the pattern than anything else. To see that one the light had to be intense and direct (screen on or off) so very low likelihood of that impacting day to day use.
The artifact that really bothered me was, for lack of a better explanation, the white dots on the screen that looked like backlight bleeding through tiny vertical perforations in the LCD panel. I'm sure that's not actually what it was, but that's what it looked like to me. I'll probably end up with a G2 in addition to the Note, but I wanted to know if the ones I looked at were part of a defective batch or not.
Thanks
Hi,
Dropping my phone was the worst thing that could happen with my phone.
I found someone who would do the screen replacement and after nearly two months he finally returned the phone two me.
At first glance it seemed ok but closer inspection have shown me that:
- the panel used was JDI instead of LGD so a japanese panel instead of the 'original' LG
- serious screen bleed contouring the whole screen
- highlights on the screen, points in the screen where I can clearly see the backlight being brighter than everywhere else
- luminosity is lower than the original.
The last two points are very annoying. I compared my phone with a phone displayed in a shop and I see that the screen on the shop's phone is brighter that mine, even without adaptive brightness and @ 100% luminosity.
Could this be due to different panel manufacturer (JDI instead of LGD)?
The screen bleed could be due to the screen being badly glued but I am not sure...
But the bright speckels are annoying also. In bright areas this is very much noticable, a white picture shows two small areas brighter which indicates to me that the back of the panel has something behind that 'pushes', hard to explain.
Anybody had similar issues or had his screen repaired?
You can see my issues in the attached screenshots...

I don't think your issues is the panel type, i replaced mine and got a JDI from eBay. I don't notice any difference from my old one, which was not JDI. I would say you just got a poor screen. Not the fault of the installer either, i would try to get hold of the screen seller, or just accept the loss and replace it again.

I can agree that the panel type is not the culprit but the screen bleed is definitely the installers fault.
I am not very happy replacing it again as the total cost would mean that I could have bought a new phone for the same price...
My feeling is that the seller of the screen has delivered a used screen and damaged the silver back of the panel by removing it from the old device (the bright highlights could be from a prying tool used while recuperating the screen.). Too bad , lesson learned = do not drop the phone as the screen shatters very easily and when repairing, find a reliable repairsman...
Accept the loss seems to be the only option in this case...
Maybe I will have to disassemble/assemble the phone myself and do with with extra love and care and sense of detail....

Since the digitizer comes glued to the glass I'm more inclined to blame the screen/seller than the installer. But you know the saying... "If you want it done right...". All the best on getting it sorted and working properly.
So how is everyone's experience with regards to display uniformity of the Asus ZMPM1? My screen has some issues and I want to know how common these are and if getting a replacement would be wise.
The only reason I went for an IPS LCD display this time instead of an AMOLED was because I was sick of the AMOLED screen lottery where a lot of screens have tints / uneven backlight/ visible mura effects (and also because the Asus was dirt cheap). My previous phones (SGS4, SGS6) both had these kinds of issues and I hoped things would be different this time. But unfortunately the Pro M1 I got from Flipkart is slightly darker/yellower at the bottom. It's noticeable only when brightness is pretty low, but it's still distracting. Should I get a replacement? Or is it not worth the hassle/risk (since the replacement might be worse, as was the case with my SGS6).

I have the 6 gb variant. So far i didn't have any issues with the display.
Yes my screen is also slightly darker n has kind of black blur on the bottom of the nav bar a bit yellowish too on the bottom part, but if u turn it upside down the upper part will also be the same, i have the 4gb version, but interestingly its more vivid and contrasty than other ips lcd, almost like an amoled display, cmiiw
