Has anyone got embedded flash content working? - Touch HD General

I have read several threads on this subject, but the issue still appears to be largely unresolved...
Can you access embedded flash content within Opera using a stock ROM?
Only solution appears to be using Skyfire unless someone can tell me different?
Thanks to clarify...

Bump... I'll take that as a 'no' then?

use skyfire that resolves the embedded flash problem, other browsers are hit and miss at this time, macromedia hasnt developed a working flash application that doesnt work sparingly, flash lite works but only on some sites not all

I keep being told that Flash is a feature of the new Opera and is rife on the HD, so whats the problem?

I'm referring to content like the embedded videos on the BBC website. If you try and play them on a stock ROM it points you to download Flash. Having done this the Adobe website says that the device is not supported...
I did download a mobile version of FlashPlayer but it seems to have made little or no difference.
Skyfire is okay, but I reckon it needs some refinement to be at its best for the HD.
Ho hum...

Adobe Flash for Pocket IE

Does anyone know if Adobe Flash is available for Pocket IE?
I thought this was going to be part of Win Mobile 6.1

I use Flash Player 7 (fp7_ppc_en.cab). I am not sure if it can be uploaded here so search for the cab first if you might. If you can't find it on the Adobe site, perhaps there are other options.
Just a couple of items. FP7 is a hog, but it does work for simple Flash sites, (YMMV). Also, there seems to be an installation dependency if you are using the TCPMP/FlashVideoBundle to view streaming video, YouTube and such.

Hi Bill -- can you elaborate on the installation dependency? For example, I'm using the TCPMP/FlashVideoBundle. Are there known issues with subsequently installing the Flash Player on top of that?
Thanks in advance for any info you can provide.

The only issue I had was to ensure that the TCPMP/FlashVideoBundle was installed before the Flash Player 7.0. In this order everything fuctions normally.
Bad Idea for me
I installed the flash player 7 on my Mogul, and it made my phone freeze every time to the point of reset each time I visited a highly based flash site like Youtube. I believe it just tries to act as a flash player and the processor cannot handle that. Or maybe it is a conflict with the already installed FlashBundle/TCMP Player. I do not know if anyone has had the same problem
Thanks! Working OK so far.

How to see flash?

I tried to find an answer in the forum, but either it is an obvious question or i did not understand it (i am new to the WM world).
I simply do not see the whole page content, and i can not "click" on some of the visible content, probably because it is flash.
I checked at macro-media site and found there is an application but according to their info it supports only WM5.
Can someone help?
I am using many applications designed for WM 2002 which work just fine. I suggest you to try that one.
Can name few?
Ok. I installed the marcomedia flash support for IE, and works. Yet IE is by far slower than Opera. Is there a solution for Opera?
there is flash lite 3.1 in the development and hacking section of the forums, but i'm not sure if it works for diamond yet. :/
you can try though.
I am having this problem too, for example on Facebook if someone has posted a video that is not hosted on Youtube i cannot veiw it as my browser doesnt support flash. I have had this problem on a lot of web pages that have anysort of video on them even tho i have installed the latest flash.cab on my device is there a work around or is it just something we will have to make do with untill a newer version of opera is released?
Install this cab :

I'm confused about opera and flash, can anyone enlighten me?

I know that not being able to view flash in opera browser has been an issue before, but I thought that with the latest version of opera you can? If this is the case why is it when I view certain websites it says I need flash to view it?
Cheers
You need to install Flash Lite and enable plugins in Opera. But I don't recommend you to do that, because the Flash Lite is full of bugs.
If you need flash just use IE instead. Still not perfect but much better.
Skyfire is a good one for embedded video, not quite so finger friendly, but well worth having installed to run along side ie and opera
I've tried both IE and syfire, and not a great fan of either to be honest. I'm guessing I was wrong then and you can't view flash on opera?

No, not by default.
When HTML 5 really takes hold, Flash will dry up and die... I truly hope it will.
With some hacking and some luck you can get flash lite support in Opera Mobile 9.5 and 9.7 versions (not in Opera Mobile 10 yet!). Internet Explorer mobile supports flash lite by default (on recent roms/devices).
The thing is, is that flash lite itself is very slow, buggy, and incomplete. Barely any flash content will work with it.
Adobe should release full Flash 10.1 for Windows Mobile within a few months. When that happens, we will see full and complete Flash in probably all windows mobile browsers.
Skyfire already supports all flash content, but in a different way. Nothing is rendered on your device. All content is downloaded and rendered on their servers, and then compressed forwarded to your phone. When their server is down that means you can't browse the internet on your phone, and that situation happened a few weeks ago in fact. Besides, browsing with skyfire is not nearly as good as with Opera Mobile.
Flash Lite only supports older versions of Flash which are very basic. Streaming and most Flash based games use the newer Flash versions so that's why you always see the non-compatibility.
For older stuff, try the methods listed above. For newer stuff... forget about it.

Full Flash support

Good day guys,
I'm in the process of getting the wonderful HTC LEO , my question is there any application or future plans for full flash support like for websites; for example to be able to browse Beatport. For instance I know that the Nokia N900 has this feature.
Thanks.
With a little searching you would have found the answer.
In short; it is kinda already possible with the skyfire browser. It is not real flash support though, but it does allow you to view websites that use flash. Do a search for skyfire to read how it works.
Full and real flash support is coming to hd2, and this will be a thousand times better than the solution with skyfire. It's confirmed by adobe that this will be released within a few months time.
There's plans for everything, but as of yet, they have not materialized. Honestly, I am not all that excited about it. Steve Jobs had it right to say that Adobe was lazy. They are. Soon enough, flash will make way for HTML 5, which does all that flash can do, only better and easier to implement. Flash is the cause of almost every browser crash, specifically on the Mac platform at least, and without flash, we get few banner adds, etc. If I want to watch a video online, there are other solutions rather than playing them inline with the browser, etc. I prefer it that way, actually. It keeps the browser more stable and faster.

u mean that opera will have full flash support on hd2 in next couple of months?
The default Internet Explorer on leo has Flash Suport. Works pretty good.
I also hope, when there is full flash support, there is also support for adblock, noscript and flashblock. I hate webpages that have flash ads.

It's slow, buggy and only some older flash content works. The website that the OP wants to see will most likely not work (though I don't know the site)

Yes. Nothing in the future can be said with 100% certainty, but yes I'd almost bet my life on it. Don't worry, adobe already confirmed it and opera will follow with an update when flash has been released.
Adobe is rolling out Flash 10.1 for mobile (including WinMo) in the upcoming weeks/month. That's full flash for you.

[Q] Problem with Adobe Flash Iconia A500

I have a problem with Flash not working on my A500. I have tried to install various versions to no avail. All I want it to do is view video content on the local news websites. I have had a live chat with local Acer support and they couldn't help me. ( Australia ) Does anyone have any idea on how to get it working ?????
All suggestions taken on board !

do you see any type of flash at all? or is it just the live video content which is not shown? please provide more details, such as a link to the website you seen not to have flash enabled?
flash should work fine, i got it running with live content for danish websites and tv stations broadcasting live video.
i feel flash works great (that is on 3.1) but 3.0.1 was working fine too.
what doesn't work? ive found that flash on Opera browser doesn't work at all, but viewing flash in stock browser works fine.
i read somewhere that you have to "tell" opera to use flash, however i looked and couldnt see how it was done.
More information
Thanks to you both for assisting. I have 10.3 installed, can play flash based games, but Opera, Dolphin or Firefox will not play video content. The browser that came with the unit can. Another curious thing, if I navigate to the home page of XDA-Developers I cannot play the video XDA TV Video, it says "download Plug in" but nothing happens when I click this .
Ok, your problems are the support of the apps, not the actual stock release.
I read somewhere Opera can be made working on 3.x with flash, but how, i dont know and i can be wrong..
you can only ask the apps makers for support here, asking Acer is really not much help..so go around Opera website and ask, or firefox forums..
All good, I suspected it was a proprietory issue rather than the Iconia so I will see what I can do with Firefox / Opera forums.
Cheers, Tom
Opera mobile does'nt support flash!
i think i use the default browser and works fine....
