I am not sure how that happened but I presume you accidently tap "Lauch Browser" or "Youtube" in the Internet tab of TF2D. If that's the case, then you should disable the Internet tab (using M2DC). If you really need to use the browser or Youtube, then use the conventional way, i.e. Start Programs.

I've not tried the advanced one. But for me, the basic M2DC works fine for me all these while. It's not a good idea to have both.

Create a new data connection. I usually give it name "None". Set invalid settings, so your phone is unable to connect to GPRS with it. Set your data connection to this invalid profile . If you need more step-by-step instructions, let me know.

What is sluggish? The M2DC or the new Manilla theme? I've got no problem. M2DC completes in <10 secs after apply. I installed M2DC on my SD card too. See this lead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3307819&postcount=15

2) In "My ISP", select "Add a new..."
3) Select "Cellular line" and name "None" (or whatever you like).
4) Set invalid name of access point (or leave blank)
5) Do not fill anything else, click finish
6) Go back to settings and click "Manage existing..."
7) Select "None" if you would like to disable your data connection (or select your previous connection if you would like to use it, in my case named "Vodafone")
8) When "None" data connection is active and some app is trying to get data connection, you will get this error. The data connection will not work, so it will not cost you anything .

Yes, Questions!
I'm not really waiting for a data-connection bill, So I'd like to know something: Does this Completely the 3G/GPRS connection untill you switch to another setting again? And can I use Wi-Fi without touching this 'Blockade'? Since my parents pay my monthly fee, I'm not really looking forward to accidently getting a data-connection bill, so I'd like to have some verification

1) This should completely disable your data connection. I tested it on GPRS and it worked with my service provider. It basically prevents you to reach GPRS access point. You can download SPB Wireless Monitor (evaluation 30 days) and try for yourself. But I know that PocketPCs sometime act in a very strange way, so even when I am 99% sure, no guaranties from me, sorry .
2) Sure, you can. That is exactly how I used it.
Thanxs Fenikso for the info and guide.....
at last i solve my initial problem......
- Applied "Any Button Wake-Up "
- Then my "Accidently" problem appears....
- Applied the Fenikso step guide.- Solve the problem...
- And another thing that i realize that i also "accidently" call someone from the contact.
- Found the Softkey Lock Phone - Solve all my problem.....
But still thinking is there Autolock function built-in , tried the Diamond step but no luck.....
Thanks Fenikso for the info and guideness.....

It is possible that you might have deleted the SETTINGS FOLDER from the File explorer/ or thru EXPLORER Sync.
The Best option would be to go for a hard reset.
There is something else you can try after taking a backup though ( I am not sure whether u shall get back all the Setting Icons though)
Simply Create a Folder <SETTINGS> in \windows\startmenu\
I HAVE NOT TRIED THE LATTER METHOD EVER THOUGH !!
PLEASE DO TAKE BACKUPS BEFORE THIS......

Jeasbe is right add settings folder to windows\startmenu and all will be well. No need to hard reset.

Simply adding the folder "Sedttings" to the start menu done the trick !!!

On a related note, anyone know how to create a link to the "Memory" settings entry? I went to the "Settings" folder but there were no links in there.
I use task manager to kill processes I no longer want that dont have an "Exit" button, but I dont know if the memory manager cleans up better than task manager....

I dont know why you lost the memory tab on settings - i guess your cpl (control panel applet) must be corrupt. You can add a link to memory via startmenu or phm traylaunch using the attached link.

I think you missed my point, sorry for not being clear.
I opened up windows/start menu/settings and there are no shortcuts in there (and I dont think there are meant to be).
If I click start-> settings it has three tabs and I can get to the "Memory" option in the System tab.
I have Task Manager as one of the 6 or 7 at the top of the Sart Menu, but I would rather the Memory item was there, but it doesnt seem to be an option and I cant find the .cpl file (if it exists) to make the shortcut manually.
Anyway, thanks for your shortcut, I shall see if I can use it to do what I am trying to achieve.
[Edit] Spot on. Works like a charm, thank you. Where did you get that link from? Get the info out of the registry? [/edit]

oh ok you can place the link i gave you - rename it memory if you want and place it in \windows\startmenu (not start menu\programs) - may need to delete one of the other links as it only allows a few.
Yeah, I threw it into start menu/programs and it is then available from the "Menus" link in settings which sets it as one of the six or seven entries at the top.
As I said, works like a charm, thank you very very much.
This is the wireless router for wireless internet sharing that has been floating around. It is not working 100% on the TP2, however the basic functions do work.

What precisely did you find not working in this WiFi Router?
Additional button - Row
Hi At0mAng
Personally, I use the Microsoft Direct Push button/row so wouldn't want to loose it to this. Is there any possibility of making a version that adds an additional button to the Comm Manager?
Cheers

If I have uesed the ruter it is inposible to get conect to internet after.
In the begining I thourgh it was low 3g /hi but I found if I conect my tp2 as a modem or use the ruter again, it is no problem surfing whit the computer but still not whit the phone.
Any out there who has a solution or an idea?

From what I recall on the Touch Pro it was easier to start the router and did not have to enable the settings to automatically use the settings when starting. Othe than that it has been working well for me.
Yes I can make a version where direct push is left alonr or you can install this and use advance config to place direct push back on comm manager.
What's different from THIS version? That version works just fine on my Vario V.
Don't have the CommManager link but it works just fine running it from the connections tab.
works nice!!!
thanks you very much i really
will use this!!
- Not found 3g connection. Only slow GSM.
- Delete Direct Push button, not adds an additional button to the Comm Manager
0n my tp the app dosent start from the com manager - i thought it didnt install until i found it in a new folder within the programs folder called network center...
so, when i start the app its interface is too tall for the tp - the checkbox is below/behind the software keyboard icon...
so,i dont knnow how to get it to work since what i see is so different from the instructions. can someone offer any guidance? seems t me that the wifi chip needs to be on but it keeps finding available networks and th wifi router doesnt seem to do anything.... yep, am having issues!
Be sure to install it on the TouchPro2, not TouchPro. Even though I think it could work on both VGA and WVGA.
You could give some more information about your device or provide a screenshot.
@general
I've created a Dutch HERE version from wich is a Hybrid from 0.9.2 and 1.0.0.
Already asked what the differences are compared to the file in the first post but so far no response yet. Previous thread can be found HERE.
V1.0.0 can be found HERE.

The following CAB will also place the WiFi Router on the Comm Manager, it will replace Microsoft Direct Push.
Please follow instructions for it to work properly:
Install At0mAng WiFi Router.cab
Restart your phone
Open Comm Manager
Tap where it reads Internet Sharing to bring up WiFi Internet Sharing, if you tap the On/Off button it will bring up the USB Internet Sharing
Set the Router name and password you would like.
Set the option to always use these settings without asking
Close WiFi Router
Go back to Comm Manager
Restart WiFi Router
You should be able to connect now.

No, the phone has WiFi that should work fine with your home router. This program turns your phone into a WiFi router, so you can connect a laptop to your phone (by WiFi) and get internet access for the laptop when away from home.

Does it provide the tethering charge workaround too? and does it have a crash cleanup? (TP2 is in the mail so I can't test )
When I change the settings, set always use and close, on returning the settings have gone back to default.
How do I change the settings permanently?
A new version is out in the Development and Hacking forum that resolves some issues of this one.

Is there a way to turn off 3g, if not using on the tilt 2? it's draining my battery. wktask failed on me, gave me errors and froze the phone. are there other similar apps like wktask?
Install the advanced configurator tool (search) and enable Band Selection in the phone settings.
Just go to the built in comm manager and switch it off....
well Im using NGGz 6.5 rom and the last option on the list is 3G, just tap the little on/off switch works great for me.
Although by the sounds of it maybe this option is not available on your rom?
not sure where the built in comm manager in...
i'm using the standard rom..i just got this phone a few days ago.l havent flashed it yet.
settings
if its anything like the stock TMOUS ROM slide over to the settings tab and look for communications tap that and down at the bottom it should be there.
so i'm noticing that my data connection always get turned on by itself. any i dea why? i set all my outlook exchange and email to manual sync...
if not, i did find this cab that can disable it..i'll give it a go and see if it will work
I think WMLongLife should do what you want. I haven't tried it, but there are reports of it working with various TP2s.
Hi folks
tech savvy and search friendly i may be BUT,,, i cant get the 3g to go off on a htc tilt 2.. ive tried about all and searched till i have no fingers ..i cant get the communications manager to stop to imout a new one .. nothing.. anyone PLEASE help.. i got this phone free new for a fuze and im really happy EXEPT at&t or whomevers right that revoved the ability to switch bands ..i hate to be flamed,, but if thatas the way you guys want to be u r loss.... i have searched.. even with windows longlife it reverts to 3g...i loved the fuze,, and thanks to you guys here ,, you made it very nice.. i put a new manager and snaps in the other and it worked .. my two new ones no luck..anyway i have a tilt 2.. st7377.. anyones help is appreciated as i like the phone.. just no d pad..
On my European TP2 with stock ROM I do this to switch off 3G:
Settings tab > Communication > Telephone (not the on/off switch!! Just tap the phone icon or title) > Band > GSM
and you are done. If it switches on 3G after that, it's bugged somehow.
hello
thanks for the input ,, any fix for the issue ? that is exactly what im seeing ,, it goes right back to 3g.. i have tried it all just about..cant get the communications manager to stop or id try duttys 10 button.. but it refuses to install..not really wanting to swap the rom ,,,YET.. just want 3g to go to h*ll. imput hill if you wanna.. but you know what i mean!!
Just got my Tilt 2. I couldn't believe there is no way to turn off 3G in the stock ROM settings as there was on my Treo 750. I looked into the Advanced Configuration Tool and the WMLongLife tool. They are both incredible but are overkill for me. I just want to be able to manually turn 3G off and on. I found something on Handango dot com that seems to work well. It is called Bandswitch and is made specifically for HTC windows phones. Only problem is its ridiculous price, $14. But it seems to keep 3G off until I enable it again. It also has some other features regarding wifi and bluetooth. It has a trial version so I hope some of you try it out and let me know your pros and cons. I am surprised by how little discussion there is on this subject.
install that cab from the previous post and soft reset your phone. it should work. if not, you will need to go to comm. manager and turn off 3g.
anyone have the 3g toggle for comm manager download? i found some but they replace the microsoft direct push rather than just putting in the blank space below data connection.

Hey man...I actually enabled that switch in comm manager with a setting that was buried in one of the regular config apps we use (total commander, HD tweak, Rhodium settings tool), I just can't remember which right now.
It put the switch you're talking about on the comm manager screen, right below the data connection spot. But...on my 6.1 ROM it doesn't have any effect, I suspect it'll work properly on a later WM/Sense build.
I'll dig in a bit and see if I can remember/discover which one had the setting..
well if you find out, let me know. i looked through the registry with total commander and then entrys in hklm\software\htc\commmanager arent there. i think itll take more than a simple registry edit.

I found it In Advanced Config, hit the "menu" softbutton (bottom right), then choose "more settings", then "comm manager"....you'll get a list of all the switches you can add/remove from the comm manager.

Yeah...I don't really know how to get past that, I didn't know it had that limit because even with the 3g switch I was still only using 6.
However, when I just tested it by adding the "beaming" button, it threw up that same error, but the button still showed up, giving me a total of 7 switches in the comm manager screen. I have no idea how/why. I checked in Advanced Config again, and the beaming button was un-checked.
and yes, I get the same results when I change it from switches to large or default buttons, comm manager won't open at all.
I can't even seem to find my comm manager on the updated Tilt2 ROM.....!

Push internet was a new feature introduced that made it so pages you specify on the internet tab would automatically be downloaded in the background according to a schedule. When you visit the link on the internet tab, you bring up a cached (and reasonably updated based on schedule) version that loads much faster.
Disabling push internet disables your phone from downloading the pages, which results in better battery (less data transfer) and more memory (less instructions sitting in memory.)
So what have people been disabling...please specify the file instead of telling me like push internet..cause there isn't a file that says push internet. I've been trying to figure out what services, and startup programs I can do without. Thanks in advance!

Using Touch Commander you can select the exe file then go to File and >>>>>>>>> on the menu. Pick Create shortcut. Click on Tree and browse to \Windows\Startup and say OK. You now have a shortcut (.lnk file) to that exe in the Startup folder which will start on next boot.

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I am no where near the level of computer knowledge some of you guys have so be patient.
1) when looking for these programs, are you finding them in the file explorer?
2) if they are deleted, are then gone for good. I would hate to get rid of something and then realize I needed it cause if I screw it up, there is no way I am fixing it right back like some of you guys or gals can do.
My imagio though was running around 60% when I had sense UI on it, but with the HTC touch flo home screen on, it is running around 70-80% so getting it down will be a big help.
Thanks in advance.

I have deleted the Items you have recomended on my start up and it works good so far.
I Googled the services you have recommended and they seem to be of use, "I'm no expert on them" so I have left them for the time being.

I being using SKTools, is basicly a full suit of diferent tools, including one I would say resembles msconfig from Xp/Vista/Win7 where you can disable items and re-enable them in case you need too. I disabled TouchFlow and the TV Icon thing and that alone freed about 20% of memory.
Here is what I have. Even with Shozu running, I am running at about 57-60%

Not sure, but I can think of a few things. How are you installing it? Did you get the .cab for SKfile or a exe? Also I suggest updating your .Net Framework to version 3.5

Make sure it's for PocketPC (touchscreen) and not Smartphone (non-touchscreen).

Go to the settings tab and click the menu option (bottom right), which will be either "Menu" or "More" (I think they're the only 2 options). Then select "All settings" (the only menu option), System, Screen and finally the "Align Screen" button.
It's annoying that HTC decided to mess with the settings icon in the start menu. Along with getting a proper task manager (drop-down in sense style) for switching tasks, one of the first things I did with my HD2 was to enable the REAL settings icon in the start menu. You can do that with BsB Tweaks now though. But I digress
Let us know how you get on.

TMo USA HD2's don't have that item! I agree with other poster that we have been left out of that feature!
Can anyone tell me what file the icon points to so I can see if maybe Tmo USA just didn't give us an icon on the system screen?
Thanks,
Gordo
screen settings (and indeed any control panel items) arent files you can point a direct link to.
If you really can't find the screen options, then you can make your own link, the code is
24#ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,7
paste into a notepad doc on the pc, save it, (example align.txt) change the align.txt to align.lnk , move the file to your phone and run it.
Better still read THIS for how and why.

Fantastic! Thanks, it worked!

Ahh, thank goodness. My screen alignment was driving me crazy, and of course, having a weird Tmous phone, the setting was nowhere where one would expect it to live in WinMo. You just made my phone 100% more lovable.
I have a problem with my screen alignment although I'm not sure it's the same problem as above.
Since updating my phone to the latest official ROM yesterday my home screen has shifted up by about 3mm.
My network indication is now partially hidden by the Start and notification bar at the top and a small strip of the basic WinMo wallpaper is visible below the Home/People/Messages/etc bar at the bottom.
Any suggestions?
The screen option in settings is hidden on the T-Mobile HTC HD2. You can make it visible in the registry
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\Pen
Set the value of "Hide" to 0 (currently it is 1). Then the screen option will be visible in the system folder under all settings.
hopes it helps
