Factory reset? - XPERIA X1 General

Hi All,
Just a quick question, how can I restore my phone back to original factory settings? (i.e, no photos, movies etc, original theme).
I have to take my X1 back to the store (and get another one).
Cheers!

Turn off the device.
Then hold both left and right silver buttons and press the power button

i think u can go to settings , there is a clear storage there.. seems to work the same.

Thanks for the help. Can you recommend a decent backup tool to back up my texts, phonebook etc?

spb backup.

Soft reset button?

I noticed that the SPB panel has a soft reset button under "tools".
Is it possible to get that in the launcher rows for Sony Ericsson Panel 2?
I wonder where the link/program is located?
Or is there a program/.cab that can be downloaded?
Everytime I search "soft reset", I get so many irrelevant post/threads.
Thanks in advance!
I don't understand why would you need it. Turning the device off and on again will do the same. And if the device is locked and unresponsive, launcher icon wouldn't help you.

cause it's a pain in the ass to have to switch panels to the spb panel, just to reset the phone.
I understand, what the op is talking about, I was going to look into a solution.
I use phm soft reset. Simple app and it's free. I don't remember where I got the cab, but just google for it.
I agree with the OP. I just prefer to press a shortcut instead of waiting for the phone to turn off and turning it back on again and this way you can put it anywhere you'd like. I keep mine in the start menu, even though I have at least five other ways to do the same thing on my phone, this is the only reset that I use.
edit: Smaberg's actionscreen is great too as it has both soft reset and power off (along with a ton of other useful functions) in an easy to reach place, but I still use phm for plain old soft resets. Highly recommend taking a look at it though.

thanks jhoffa for the link!
thanks mrbkkt1+jhoffa for understanding!
Dr. Sid, I am asking for something like this not because I want to reset when the X1 stalls. It's when I'm using it on the move and I only want to really dedicate one hand to the unit.
People can say I'm lazy, but I'm looking for some convenience. Convenience, isn't that what we're all after when we bought a beautiful unit like X1?
I use also phm soft reset. Anyway, there's a reset button under the cover battery on the right, for me it's the easiest and fastest way
Use smaberg's power button add on. It's here in the forum.

lol, the battery cover is the last thing I want to deal with.
Some people say it falls off from use, but mine seems like a pain to remove and it's actually the most "least liked" physical part of the phone.
Thanks all for the tips, I actually have phm soft reset and smaberg's power button add on.
Smaberg's power button add on, makes it feel like a true SE machine
Yeah you just take the battery cover off take the stylus out and you should see a hole to the right of the battery in which you can press the stylus into and your phone will soft reset
The battery cover is the worst part of the X1. I'm almost breaking my nails trying to open it. I wonder why didn't they put the soft reset button somewhere outside the battery area.
@Hisatsu, I have that in my launcher.
What I did - go to Windows/Start Menu > Copy "Reset PPC" > Click Programs > Edit > Paste Shortcut > Go to launcher and add it in.

Soft reset on phone

Hi, does anyone have a software solution for having an option to soft reset the phone from within tf3d or wm6.1 ? Right now i'm trying out all sorts of new software and it's quite annoying having to open the back cover each time I want to reset.

Try PsShutXP which will give you the options. Haven't tried it myself, but it worked on my blackstone a treat. Use the Touch Diamond version, its about the right fit.
Can you not just hold the power button down and switch it off? It's what I do.
I know it requires access to the touchscreen, but so would any software solution.
You can also install HD Tweak.
I can confirm it works on the TP2.
It also installs Soft Reset.
When you execute, it asks you if you want to soft reset and voila
H.
Devstate (short for device state) is what I use, excellent today plugin (as long as TF3D is disabled) it has options to turn off screen and other stuff too.

Thanks for the quick replies !
I don't like the option of keeping the power button pressed, because it requires me to confirm the shutdown and to power it up again when it has shut down, in the end taking longer if you reset the device about 10 times a day...
As for the PsShutXP, I can confirm it works on the Touch Pro 2.
I will give the HD Tweaks a try and see how that works.
I tried HD Tweaks as well and the reboot function works fine as well. I think I'll go for PsShutXP though since you can skin it. I am also using Advanced Config 3.3 so the added functionality in HD tweaks is not useful either.
I like this one:
http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-a-a-reset-manager.html
You can schedule also when you want to perform a soft reset
Pocketpowermanager is wonderful. Three little icons at the foot of my today screen, allowing me to power-off, rotate screen and soft reset.
Here is what i've used since my touch pro. Hope it helps
here is monxdified simple & neat soft-reset. cab in the zip file.

Handy menu is best I think. U get very nice menu with many short cuts in it and also soft reset. U can have an icon in top bar, but for that U have to install Handy switcher too. Try them and see if U gonna like them, but they are just free to try...

[Q] Black screen on unlock - notification bar OK

Hi,
I have an odd issue. I got a Legend as a loaner for my samsung SGS i9000m (don't get it...).
Anyhow the phone died from low battery last night and now when I turn it on I get the lockscreen fine (screen in full colour etc etc) but when I unlock it the screen goes black. I cann't get any menu to come up either unless I've used a program that I have accessed some other way. For example I can access e-mail if a notification shows up but I can't use it on its own because I cannot get to any home pages and I can access search from the buttons and the keyboard from the buttons but nothing else.
I've tried a battery/sd card/sim out reboot but no dice. I'll try another sd card in a bit but it seems like the sense ui is not loading or something.
Any thoughts or suggestions. I can't access market or any apps so please keep that in mind with suggestions. It was not rooted or modified in any way as its just a loaner.
Thanks, G
If somehow you can get access to "manage application", you could try doing a clear data/clear on HTC Sense and see if that brings back the home screen.
Or go to http://market.android.com and get ADW Launcher or Launcher Pro (remote Install)
And/or try to do a factory reset?
Thanks

Thanks for the reply but its now in a bag waiting to go to the post office. I told them not to bother and send another. I tried to get to the menus but no dice, and since I could not use the dialer, even any phone line commands I think would not have worked.
I had thought about looking into a remote install but thats too much effort to learn for a phone I was only going to have for a few weeks and it may not have worked still. Went back to just a plain old cell for now....

1. Go to market.android.com
2. Find LauncherPro/ADWLauncher.
3. Click install.
Was it really that hard? |:
At the most all you have to do is login to your GMail account.
Ohh- right from the phone, Duh!
Yeah that might have worked but I was thinking on the PC and then having to push it to the phone somehow.
Yeah could have tried that but its in an envelope now...

Go to settings, then applications, then click manage applications, find your launcher in the list, click on it, and go to clear data. This will only clear the data for the launcher, and reset it to default settings.

[Q] Gingerdx v17 issues home button /camera button not working

hi Gang.
I have beenusing gingerdx for about 1 month, all ok. today i updated to v17. had to reinstall email.apk, facebook and soundcloud as they were FC'ing all the time. now they are fixed.
I have the following 2 issues
1 camera button not open camera
2 home button not working as expected. I have set it to open homescreen on short press and open app list on long press. neither work.
when phone in standby, pressing the home jey turns the screen on. nothing else.
any help?
thanks
I can answer only for question 1, because I dont use preinstaled launcher.
For camera button: I must long press camera button (about 1,5 sec. - phone must short vibrate) to start camera app.
I have also recently given GDX a second attempt from FB. I am also facing the same problem with the home button not working, exactly as you explain it. Wierd. I've got a E15a if that helps...
I also can't get any of the lock screen options to work, pattern, pin or password work. Everything's enabled but when I bring the phone off stand-by there is no unlocking option, just goes straight to home screen.
Edit: After someone testing, I think I figured out why this was happening. The issue happens when I flash GDX from FB or if I do a full wipe and use titanium backup to restore system data. So I believe there was some sort of incompatibility between GDX and FB settings. At the moment it seems more stable (or so I hope). If you want to keep your contacts, call log, messages etc, on TB just tick contacts storage, dialer storage and media storage and leave the rest unchecked.
