I have formatted the phone. I have the contacts synced with the active sync. Now when i connect the X1 to the computer and sync will the computer copy all the contacts to the phone or will it do the vice versa.
As the phone has been formatted it has no contacts on it. So it might be possible it will sync with the active sync and clear out all the contacts on the computer which i so dont want to happen.
Please guide me with the same.

Can someone please tell me how to backup my contacts so I can hard reset my phone.
Orange supplied a copy of outlook 2002 and activesync on the get started cd to manage contacts, but from the activesync help file it states
"ActiveSync does not support synchronizing Contacts or Calendar subfolders."
When I connect my phone activesync shows the contacts icon in the bottom screen but what do I do?
And what is Outlook for?
When I open outlook it shows all the connected drives A: C: D: etc, but it does not show the mobile device.
How can I backup my contacts? It took hours to manually type them in first time as I could not import them from my old phone.

I've lost all the contacts on my wm6 address book... Is there any way i could get them back?
Here's what i did.. basically i connected my mobile trough activesync (using windows xp) and i though it would be neat to backup my contacts also (i didn't have the contacts checked in the sync options of activesync). After i checked the contacts and clicked the sync button all the contacts from my mobile were gone.
I don't use outlook even though i have outlook 2007 installed.
Also everything that was checked to sync has gone (notes, tasks etc)
first you may check if _pim.vol_ file in the root directory exist. you may open it with excel on the computer and try to read your contacts. if no, say good bye to your contacts
second: it was said to WM users many times !!always backup your data!!
use _contacts backup_ utility on your pda, or save it in outlook, and you'll never have problems.
Check the deleted folder in outlook. Assuming u sync with outlook. They may all be there - worked for me before, just copy them back into contact and let it sync back...
Ok so i have my touch synced to my hotmail account and on my laptop i have the outlook plugin to sync my hotmail account.
i have a copy of my contacts on my outlook for back up so when my phone sync i get double contacts from syncing to the hotmail account and when i plug my phone to the laptop to sync.
is there anything i can do so i wont have to keep deleting double contacts? every time it sync's to either one.
what i have done:
when i do start / programs and go under activesync when i click on menu / options then uncheck contacts it give me
to proceed activesync must remove all contacts synchronized to our device, i dont want to remove them from my device.
should i remove them and then sync to hotmail and then when i plug to the laptop it will not sync my outlook?
I cannot get the android to PC sync to save my contacts on my PC. I go thru and sync it but I dont get anything under the summary. Any idea?

Did you go into settings on the HTC Sync program and check the box to "sync this catagory"? You can also do it for your Calander. Also you can tell the sync program if you wish the pc to overwrite the phone or vise, versa.
The HTC Sync program only works with Windows Outlook, not sure about Outlook Lite or any other such program.

I have IMAP setup on both outlook on PC and PPC. Im having problem with both showing what ive replied to already.
Sync works fine with marking as read and updating both sides, but when i reply to something on the phone, it doesnt update on the PC that ive replaied, and vise versa.
Is there something i can do to make it sync and show reply icons on the pc or the phone if i reply to an email on one or the other so i dont have to be confused?
