Dont know if its me, I find it looking like PocketCM. With a different theme but with a small additional feature, call history
I agree with you. It's way too similar... and they're developing a "sms chat"... I saw that before right here on the forums...
Would be a nasty abuse of tene's hard work. He did the work, he deserves the money!!
IMHO tene's version is still a lot better, but it does indeed look like theft.
I saw on their site they're develloping easy-type as well, which might be similar to PocketCM keyboard! If so... a bloody shame!

Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.
Did anyone tried it? is it good? for 19.95$ I hope it is
haven't tried it, why pay when i can use your version free
I gave this one a shot
Although there is no novelty as far the idea is concerned, the implementation is quite good!
Heres the difference between tene's version and this one :
1:> One tab assigned to Call Logs
2:> Animations are slightly different (Flip up/down instead of Flip Left/Right in tene's version)
3:> Setting a contact as a favourite is extremely easy
(On the contact detail screen , there is a star..you just have to select that star to set the contact as favourite..IMHO this is easier/quicker than two taps approach in tene's version)
4:> Animation seems slightly faster and even browsing through the alphabet index is very quick
5:> No support for SMS chats
Most important difference IMHO is that contacts can be edited/deleted through this app. This is a very nice feature as it allows you to change user information be it contact number/address/name etc. using its own input method/panel (Although creating contacts is still via normal way)
All in all,a good effort..but I wouldnt like to pay for this one especially when a free alternative is available and that too a very good alternative .Nevertheless,I would expect tene to give a look in to the features for his next version (if theres gonna be one)
I'll continue
6:> About 1,4mb installation
7:> Pretty slow to boot
8:> Weirdest built in keyboard ever.
9:> Much more fluid in use than pocketcm. (wizard)
10:> Scrolling works much better (slows down and accelerates more like an iphone)
you can download a trial version...
personal opinion, it sucks compared to tene's CM...
the only advantage is that it has a call log which probably tene can easily add.
- pictures do not show on the initial phonebook list
- also phone numbers do not show
- pager numbers do not show on contact details (i'm a doctor and use very frequently)
- no sms (my favorite part in tene's CM)
- you can only sort by either first, company or last name (CM you have an option to sort by city, category, company, sms....)
- comes in only one boring theme - (there are some excellent themes out there for CM and i like to change every few days)
- doesn't have the search option.
- address doesn't show in contact details (you have to press a button which takes you to the built-in contact manager for the address and more details!)
the list goes on and on...
so, NO way would I pay 20$ for that software... even if it was for free and I had to pay for Tene's CM I would still prefer tene's CM, his software is far more superior.
lol @ the built-in keyboard
I'll add:
11:> PCM looks much nicer not to mention PCM can use themes. Funcontact can't.
12:> PCM has a lot more features (although that's also exactly the same thing I hate about PCM.. it's starting to become bloatware). Funcontact works.. it does what it needs to do in a convenient and fast way.
13:> No support for landscape (it doesn't flip even if you slide the keyboard). It stays in portrait no matter what. It's good in a way because it keeps the app stable, unlike PCM which starts to screw up whenever I slide my keyboard out to type SMS.
14:> It caches everything on memory on program start
15:> So far, it's very stable
16:> It uses the WM GUI for sending messages
Well, maybe I'll play against myself, but as long as they don't use my binaries, that's fine. It seems to me that's another implementation of the same ideas, and I don't own the ideas.

PCM still better, but I agree with you it becomes bloatware if Tene keep adding unnecessary features.

hi tene, a bit off topic, but where can i get the basic theme for pocketcm? the one posted in the screenshots at your site.
You should ask the original poster DaVince about that bloatware
I just emphasized that.

It's obviously still in its infancy...
If you take a peek at the BMPs for the app. they show Call and End icons plus many others, waiting to be switched on!
It's been said already that there is development planned for SMS chat and a better keyboard (their current one is BIZZARE!).
I've put it on my phone to do a comparison and it does seem faster (once it's loaded). This might be inpart due to the lack of fades and zooms between some screens.
I like the contact detail screen and the simple option to SMS to any number. Very nice deign, but then it should be...they pay professional designers to do the work.
The switch to view the contact in the Windows app is almost INSTANT! so no worries for me about a lack of address.
Given some layout options and skins and maybe 6 months to develop, it could be excellent.
Does use a lot of RAM to run though and I miss the filter option at the moment. Like I say thgouh, time will tell which app comes out on top.
I'm very much looking forward to Tene's next release, due soon. If he's got any sense (and he has), some of the nice little touches may well find their way into PocketCM
Oh yes, if you want the Vito icons for your PocketCM theme, you know where to go ;-)
As some have noted, PocketCM is free. However, that should not stop you from supporting Quentin's (Tene's) hard work and donate *something* so that he CAN continue to support and refine it with your direct suggestions.
G.
Hey, I also tested this "funcontact".
Its not bad, and looks also nice, but the scrolling didnt work well on my prophet... PCM does...
I prefer PCM because it can handle my SMS and there are possibilities to customize.
The only thing better in funcontact is the callLog.
PS.: It looks really like PCM, but its not the orignial.
TENE U did a real goog job man, thanks

I was setting here thinking , and came up with an idea. I'm not genius dev so I dont have a chance at it. But in my mind it sounds possible. But PLEAZ check this out , and let me know what you think about this idea.
Okay. One part of my idea is fairly simple, the next would be a challenge but , im sure one of the genius dev's here could do it. Here goes.
The simple part:
Pretty much strip iFonz down, no icons on it anywhere. Create a skin for it, with the diamond background, which can already be done. Then create a skin for the "DOCK" , that makes the bottom icons, look like the Home tabs on the diamond. This wouldn't be hard for a lot of you.
Next turn of the "slide" feature in the iFonz settings. Link the bottom icons to a different page each. That way when you hit one, it quickly pops up another page, pretty much like the htc home plug does. This right here takes care of one of the plugs used withthe diamond also. The program launcher tab. All you would have to do is setup your icons, and that part is done. This seems like it would be pretty simple. But now to the hard part.
The HARD part:
This is the parts that would be a challenge. I know some of you could do it, but its just getting someone interested. But anyway. Somehow create a plugin, or something, that will put apps like the clock, and messaging, and music, etc on the iFonz screen. I was thinking that for messaging and email, that you could somehow just make turn on like one icon on on iFonz, and link it to the proper size graphic. Then it would read whatever program it was linked too. I don't exactly know how to explain what I'm thinking here, but hopefully , you understand.
The way iFonz is set up, being able to choose links, and things. It seems like this would be very possible. Some things, like the clock, and messages, and maybe contacts, may be fairly simple to one of you devs. I myself would be happy , and I'm sure alot of you as well, with this , even if it was missing a couple of tabs, like the music, or something.
But anyway. Ponder on it, and let me know what you think. In my mind it seems extremely possible. And if someone was to do it, you'd have the smoothest working Diamond them around. The way iFonz would pop up a different page and things. But I hope you all give your ideas here. Maybe with some help this will become a reality
sounds like an idea
I'll be willing to pay for that even
Just try the latest beta of ThrottleLauncher
I think WAD2 is the best option....
The new beta version of Wisbar Advance Desktop 2 is amazing and I have had good results making a Diamond theme with it. Attached are some screen shots of what I have done so far. Goto www.lakeridgesoftware.com if you want more information or to download the latest (V8 as of 6/10/08) beta version of WAD2.
2manyphones, I certainly hope you'll be sharing that WisBar skin with us. Your skin alone is enough to make me wanna buy WAD!
I agree. Throttelauncher or SPB Shell w/the Diamond theme. Nice WAD setup though. I played around with it before. Great app but SPB Shell is easy to setup.
What about speed.
The throtllelauch and mobile shell slow down your device and are hungry for memory.
UL has nice possibilities if you want to keep speed and is highly customizable

But most people forget to look at Manila Theme for XIAMultiTheme
which is still in beta state tough, but works quite good.
Hi,
The only thing I miss from the regular WinMo interface is the fact that TF3D does not show what are my tasks or a todo list.
I'd love to have a tab show up in TF3D that would let me see my tasks (and their due times, if I add that), ways to add a new tasks, assign times to them, categories, reminders, etc. If it could sync with an online service like Remember The Milk(.com), that'd be even better.
I think an app like that is very important for productivity fanatics. Having a tab in the TF3D would reduce the need for anyone to explicitly call an app (like RTM has an app, but you need to open it to see tasks) and having a tab telling you at all times what your tasks/todos are would be amazing!
Now, I've searched for an app like this and couldn't find one. But if there is a TF3D app like this and I didn't see it, please forgive me for making a thread about it and post me a link to such an app if it exists.
If not, someone please contribute.
Thanks!
Dito!
Yeah... me too! I asked for this six months ago, but the response I must say, was slightly less than enthusiastic. It seems not many people care about seeing what tasks they have planned. Perhaps we're the only people in this forum that have anything planned?!

sigh, I guess no one's going to make anything.
Why not use SecondToday combined with TodayAgenda. Both are freely available. You can modify one of the buttons on your Today screen to link to SecondToday, which will than show you your full agenda (including tasks, birthdays, ...), up to 45 days in the future.
Yeah id love that too, well one could use Second today but the tab thingy sounds more appealing to me
yes, appealing
To me, about a month later, it also sounds very appealing...
Nothing's come up in the meantime?
the reason for no new tabs for tf3d is not the lack of interest, its more the high complexity required to build the required lua scripts
i do like the idea however!

A quick solution could be to remap one of your softkeys to call your to do list.
In my case I have re-mapped the left soft key using a registry editor:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Softkeys:HomeLSKPath = \Program Files\Agenda One\Agenda One-tasks.lnk
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Softkeys:HomeLSKText = To Do List
Hope this helps

okay ive had a fair few htc devices, and im a fan of flashing custom roms etc.
i've just ordered an s740 as i think they look like lovely devices and have heard good reviews so far.
Now i've seen olipro's thread which went off topic..
so how shall we get the development ball rolling?
how about a collection to get olipro one of these devices
(going for about £180 - £230 on ebay)
and im sure if we all donate £5 - £10 (or more or less if need be) it wont take us long before we get some good custom roms etc
i know i can't be the only one out there thinking this!
Let me know what you guys think
comon guys
50 views and not one comment?
is everyone really that happy with their device???
Hi,
I only find 1 thing annoying. When the keypad is locked I am still able to use the keys for volume.
For the rest I think the device is pretty good.

I think it is pretty good as well but could still use a few tweaks. I would contribute to any of the following on an otherwise clean ROM...
OS
Windows Mobile 6.5 - Well this is an obvious update, especially if HTC never offers one.
Usability
Tx9 - Sometimes Tx9 is used and sometimes not in various applications on the ROM. Would be much better if it were one or the other.
Browser System Command Warning - Warning on dialing phone numbers from the browser seems unnecessary if the dialer is going to 'verify the number is correct' anyway.
Key backlighting - Frequently I get a reminder late at night and the phone is locked but the reminder doesn't turn on the key backlighting so I can see which option is which. Other applications are inconsistent as well.
Home start menu All Programs - I would prefer to have the option to not see 'all programs' there.
Home start menu scrolling - I don't like having to choose 'more' there. I would much prefer the scrolling through each panel of nine icons.
1,2,3,4 app - I suspect this is an HTC feature but I really dislike having one more UI to learn. When you flip the keybaord open it shouldn't prompt you with a 1 SMS, 2 email, 3 messenger and 4 exit menu even if it is for 5 seconds. Better to keep whatever menu you are in.
Features
Weather Panel - This seems like it should use the GPS and pick a city. Also, if you turn the phone off or in flight mode and turn it back on it should recheck the GPS and change the city or prompt to change the city.
Option to keep keyboard locked even if open - Well some of us have little kids and they figure out how to get the keyboard open pretty quickly
Codecs
I don't know what ships by default but some obvious codecs would be AAC, AC3 and any other standard codecs.
Additional Applications
Impromptu Meeting App - The automatic ring feature is great if you use exchange since your phone will go into vibrate mode in meetings. In fact you get kind of dependent on it handling that for you so if you go to the movies or dinner or an impromptu meeting you forget to switch to vibrate or afterward you forget to switch back. It would be nice to have an app to put a placeholder appointment on your calander for an hour or two (which would switch to vibrate) . Even better if it would remove the appointment afterward.
Shortcuts - It would be nice to create shortcuts to applications in something that shipped with the ROM.
Settings
Home Page - I know this can be changed in the registry but while someone is at it change the web homepage to igoogle or google mobile.
If I like something on Rose, it is boredom with her when setting/tweaking. Without any "exciting" seeking/trying/zilions of reflashings of ROMs.
And, to be honest, MOST of things on your list ARE included in basic settings and some others are easy to be changed by simple (permanent!) tweaks in registry. I'm lazy to collect here what's where, so just two examples:
Rose IN STANDARD supports not just AAC, but AAC+ and eAAC+ as well, others are H.263, H.264, MPEG-4...
Function of your lovely Impromptu Meeting App you can activate on standard Rose in seconds: just activate Auto in Profiles. OK, it does not vibrate (it switches into quiet mode), but it exactly switches automatically ringing behaviour based on calendar events IN STANDARD. And they're much more such things (avoiding Action Menu, keylock not deactivated by sliding of te keyboard)...
So instead of calling for extra ROM, which will do what's already there, my recommendation would be classic: Read the f..... manual first. And if anybody would see gimmicks like iGoogle on homescreen or GPS based weather as so exciting that it will deserve tens (if not hundreds) of working hours on extra ROM just for these - you'll be a lucky man.
IMHO, spending few hours with searching around for settings and these few tweaks would be much faster and time efficient...
we don't need HardSPL, SSPL would be fine. Perhaps we bribe Olipro
$10 each ? whats his price
I'm sure if one of you lent oli your rose for a bit he could work his magic and get the job done
fuk i am on board. can we have some info from olinex(olipro+cmonex) as to how much donations is needed to get this done! i am getting one but shocked as to the lack of dev activity here. come on guys support yourn device.........once we have some solid feedback from the olinex crew then we can get ball rolling! they would really need the device but it is so similar to the touch pro in form factor that HDSPL for touchpro might need slightly tweaking to work on s740
I think this forum is dead no one poast here no one wants to do something with this model..are you so happy with your phones as they are without any improvements?
Maybe if someone could give as a tutorial how to make an HSPL we could do it more fast and we could make the ball rolling can someone do this?i am would be glad to help and do something for this device cuz it`s too awsome :d

Imagine...
HTC Sense with your own widgets.
HTC sense already includes the following:
Home, SMS, Mail, Weather, Twitter, Footprints, Settings, and more.
But what if they would finally made it possible to let us make our own widgets?
This would seriously beat the crap our every other phone!
We would have:
Radio, ebay, MusicID, Newspapers, webcam view, translator and alot more.
Or a simple "Applications" Tab, where we find another bar with more tabs for putting apps into "folders"(tabs).
Its real sad htc have not made a SDK, or other kind of function to create our own tabs.
I personally think HTC sense is the best UI out there. the best i have seen on any mobile phone, but lacks the ability to customize it ourselfs.
Is it possible to hack the Sense UI to make this possible? (if someone can do this im happy to donate about 20 dollars, and i think more people are)
If not, we should make a large email, or online voting system to anyways draw the attention of HTC as a large company.
And yes, i know the other UI's available for windows mobile. But HTC sense is just....quietly brilliant
it seems to be possible to add new bars to the sense / touch flo.
as you can see when you use the manila tv player!
i think people should just start designing their apps for it, and maybe some experienced dev. could give an short tut how to find what you need to fasten the development

Okay, I'll make it a simple choice for you then.
No, you cannot currently add your own tabs to the Sense UI. It may become possible in the future, but it is highly unlikely, and the most likely event is that you get 1 or 2 additions to the tabs, but not something that you specifically want.
If you want either your iPhone or customizable tabs on the HD2, stick with your iPhone.

Personally, I don't have any interest in this happening. Since I can have lots of apps running at the same time and flick between them with a couple of clicks, it's actually easier to do that than it would be to put everything on the Sense UI.
Also, the Start menu is always 1 simple button click away, and that has everything on the phone listed.
I just don't think that this is a big deal.
It is possible, there's just no SDK, so it is complicated. If you want an SDK, please turn to HTC.
Personally, I don't use Sense at all, so I would not want that people develop pages for Sense instead of real WM applications.
I use the WM Default interface and TaskFacade to switch between open programs, which is much more convenient than scrolling through HTC Sense tabs, at least for me.
And by the way, if you need a reason to switch to the HD2, watch this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IsQHRtUtW0c&feature=player_embedded
That alone is enough of a reason to switch.

well as i said i like the sense feel, theme and Gui the most of all things i have tried on all phones.
And im not talking about task switching here but improving htc sense by adding custom tabs.
i like the windows mobile default interface for task switching, but i will use HTC sense for launching a app, and watching the weather, twitter, newspapers, TV, and many stuff like that, if it was possible.
I found Max Manilla makes customizing the HTC sense possible a bit, but not completly. Il try contacting him but i think its gonna be hard to implent.
As I said, you can add your own tabs, there's just no SDK to make it easy.
Look at stuff like this:

It would be so great to have one page where all your programs were. Where you could organize them in folders and launch widgets from. We totally need to make this happen.
Oh wait, anyone ever hear of THE START MENU? It's faster than sliding to a Manila tab and has more functionality in one location.

Starting a program is definately not the same, as if the information you r lookin for was directly shown in a sense tab. Its not just the look but also the feeling, that it is somehow integrated in your home screen and you dont have to start a program for that (always hated the app-binded UI on iphone). But the major factor is, that sense-functionalities might be connected with each other (p.ex. calendar and home-tab, footprints and album), which has not been done too well yet .
In my opinion it would for example just be nice to have a newspaper-tab where you can slide through different newspapers (like the accounts in email-tab) with a little overview of whats inside today, tap to chose one and scroll through the articles, be notified if theres somethin you are interested in and so on...
But i also have to state, that i am already quite happy with sense as it is and that wishes like these might be too far away...
I hope many new tabs will be created in the future.
I just need one more tab that list current running programs. So i don't have to press any buttons.

I´d like a tab with applications, that includes another bar with more tabs for categories.

That creates a Manila tab where you can add any standard Windows Mobile today screen plugins (like RSS readers etc.).
