Hi there!
I got a problem with my X1, especially when I use the Sony Ericsson Panel 1 (the one with the analogue clock and the web feeds).
I added two hosts for feeds (gulli and heise). The phone refreshes the feeds, displays them also, but when i tap on one of them to read the different news of it the panel just hangs and after a few milliseconds I get asked if I want to send a error report. It was working for a something about a week, then i added a second feed. But even after deleting all feeds and setting them newly up the problem wasn't fixed.
I would be very happy if anybody got an idea.
Greetings

Hey all has anybody else experienced this? when I open up outlook to check emails or text messages outlook's background doesn't load up, I can see on the top bar the name of the inbox I'm currently supposed to be looking at but the background is my today screen. I can send new messages but basically I can't read new ones if I try to touch the screen I activate whatever I hit on my today screen. I took off all my today screen plugins, but nothing, if anyone has any suggestions or ideas, I would appreciate it.
Sounds obvious and stupid but have you turned the device (hold power button) and back on again? This happens to me sometimes and after a reboot it seems to fix it.
Yeah I do the same thing, the only problem is that it's doing it too often and it's a pain to reset my phone 3 - 4 times a day.
Oh i see. Mine has never done it that often, sorry I can't help any more!
You have a software conflict somewhere - it will be v hard to track down. You could try uninstalling some especially if you have spb products installed as they often are the culprits. But you probably need to hard reset and add programs one by one to find the one.
I had this problem in the past (with old ROMs though)
The way I managed to overcome this is to keep outlook running in the background.
I'm using the Spb Pocket Plus and in the "close button configuration" I added the outlook to the exceptions list. By keeping it running, it always come back with a complete screen (not just top and bottom).
But then again, I didn't see this behavior since I upgraded the ROM; I'm on the 2.26 ROM now.
@gilbnx
Yeah was just thinking of doing something like that more or less.
@meschle
The only spb software I have is spb backup, I always works at first it's just at some point after I've been using the system for a while that it starts doing it. It could be after opening some application and I just haven't noticed. I'll try opening one application at a time and checking to see if it stops working after a certain one, yes tedious I know, but tell you the truth I don't use a whole lotta applications, so I'll stick to the ones I usually open up.
For those of you having this problem, if you are using smartkey, make sure outlook, MMS, Text messaging, are set to be ignored, just like it is in the default smartkey.ini. I had altered the ini and taken out all the programs since I wanted them all to close, but I noticed it started happening after closing outlook with smartkey, so I put it back on ignore and haven't had any problems since (and I hope I won't).
Hi guys, apologies if this is covered elsewhere but search is bringing up too many random similarities for it to adequately solve this for me and after reading the majority of threads in their entirety, times a ticking and I could do with more concrete data before finally committing to this beast myself
I would have thought that by now there would be a single thread listing the confirmed issues that multiple user's have with their device. Obviously the camera issue is well documented but are there other "issue's" ,that could be accurately described as a fault ,that affect many users?
I appreciate that what would appear to be an awful lot of the claimed faults in the Leo section seem to be down to owners not knowing how to do something that the hd2 is perfectly capable of and as such are usually solved quickly by the knowledgeable dudes on here and also that guy's/gal's aren't likely to start posting that they're perfectly happy with the hd2 therein skewing the general perception of its performance when you browse through the threads on here!

What ROM? UK O2 is fine.
I've got a problem with the youtube links. When in opera or IE, clicking on a video doesn't load up the stock youtube client on the HD2.
Nor does the stock client have a log in so you can see your favourites.
I cant find the stopwatch or the timer app, I've been looking for like 2 days I might just be blind. Any ideas?

I have read about this issue but not had it happen to me once yet, I have sent about 40 messages since I got the phone from O2 on Friday and I have received about 30. All of them without issue.
Did you get yours from O2 or is it a sim free model from elsewhere with your O2 sim in it?
I get the "disable all Wireless connectionss" here too. Can't say a typo bothers me, but it's a little surprising.
Sim free hd2, ROM 1.43.405.1 (70124) No other problems i've noticed though, but I don't send all that many TXTs.

If you rely on WM to wake you up at morning you are a brave man.
Background intermittent hiss when talking
Well its looking good so far then..till now we seem to have:
A) camera pink blobby issue with a hotfix on the way..
B) sms' doing what they want but not what you want also with a hotfix in the wings apparently..
C) some background noise for a few of you
and it's looking good for me as a camera on a phone is a gimmick,I hardly ever send sms and if the background noise can be heard in my truck it'll have to be louder than its volume
Thanks for the comments guys and if anyone else has any others please feel free to add them on
I've managed to lose my opera's multitouch after a bit of tweaking and program installing, though that may well be my fault....
I also have the calendar bug
And I have a weird texting bug whereby sometimes when replying to messages, when I'm trying to type a message in phone keypad mode, when i press the button for a,b,c only 2 comes up and if i try and press another key, then the same. basically, it only outputs numbers.... its very annoying and very hard to solve!
My 'issues' so far....
Camera, pink, and unusable viewer in low light (almost cant see anything).
Battery life, maybe 1 day at best.
WM tick box's way too small for finger touch.
Volume rocker, doesnt work in 50% of my games/apps including you tube!
No haptic feedback in Opera.
No pinch zoom in IE.
Lag when entering text in sms conversation mode.
No sent sms confirmation sound or on screen notification (sent the same message 3 times before i realised it had actually gone!!).
If used to solve above problem delivery reports stay in inbox like messages so every other message is a DR!
Emails do not mark as read unless opened in WM viewer not the sense UI.
No easily accessible task manager.
Programs do not close on exit but minimize so stay running in RAM.
Screen does not rotate in all menu's/apps etc...
Opening internet based Apps does not prompt you as to how to connect ie:WiFi or OTA instead defaulting to OTA unless you have already turned WiFi on.
Facebook App is nigh on pointless, cannot 'like' anything or see comments left, etc..
Windows Mobile is way to prominent and should be buried deep behind the Sense UI, specially as we do not have a stylus!
Whole UI feels messy being not really a WM UI and not 100% Sense UI.
Thats a brutal unbiased honest opinion!
The phone itself, hardware, asthetics, etc... are all excellent but the OS and UI are a long way from the polished experience I expected from a flag ship phone.
Some of these can be fixed with Reg tweaks or 3rd party Apps but............ we shouldnt have to!
Karlos
- Battery drain,
- FM radio reception quality,
- Of course, camera,
- Opera : sometimes displays web pages like Google cache: only text, no images/background
Of all listed problems, the only one I have is the camera. Not even the SMS, every time I send a message, it's delivered right away.
I have one more issue for you. After I changed timezone to Russia which don't have AM/PM time division(clock range is from 00:00 to 24:00), I can't create a new appointment later than 12:00, because in the HTC calendar I don't have an option to setup time later than 12:00 This is very very annoying.
Hi,
I bought a HTC mini for my wife to replace her HTC diamond ( which was mine actually)
She is not that happy with the device mainly because the touch screen is not very responsive nor accurate and also because facebook on winmo is crap as hell ( I don't understand actually why facebook is so good on iphone and android and not on winmo)
But lately she go mad with it because of the weather app on UI sense
Each time she goes on this tab it displays the animated thing and you can see that it is going slower and slower to move
Then when she try to go for instance on the mail tab, she can't see the mail as usual. You can see that there is something and you can scroll up and down and see in the dark that the mail are changing but the mail itself doesn't appear
Did you already have this issue ?
For information , I checked the task manager and there was nothing.
WHen I remove the weather tab and it gets back to normal
thanks a lot
Try hardreset.
We had one with a software or hardware bug, if you opend the fav. contacts and go to your contacts it takes several minutes to open, hardreset didn´t help, so we send it back.
Some phones maybe have a software/hardware problem, the phone is realy fast, so if something works strange slow it is defect.
I hope Motorola reads this thread so they can start working on the next update. I reserve the next post for adding future updates by me or other members.
Fingerprint Scanner
Pros
It works pretty good to the point I have decided to actually use it again. In Froyo you had to unlock the screen before using the scanner but in Gingerbread the scanner automatically unlocks the screen too which is very nice and practical.
Only if Motorola made it to work on Froyo then they didn't need to remove this feature in Atrix 2 because of the bad feedback.
Cons
When the screen is unlocked the left icon on the bottom dock gets highlighted with a rectangular border around it.
Email
Pros
I have never managed to get hotmail to sent emails on Froyo. Everything started to work on Gingerbread with very easy way to setup hotmail accounts -- just enter the email and password and the email client does the rest. I'm very pleased to have one account per email now instead of two in Froyo.
The emails in Outbox that requires to be resend due to a connection failure for instance has a new feature that let the user to know what the app is doing. A green arrow on the left side of the email appears while being send. Also a long press on an email would pop-up a menu with various options including Resend option.
Cons
Disabling the suggestions does not stop the email client to show suggestions. I always found Motorola does this where disabling something does not work until the next update. I wonder why? Are you collecting data on us Motorola?
I preferred the ability to add email(s) at composition time from contacts in Froyo. If I am sending an email to someone that don't remember any part of the email Motorola has made it very difficult by using the suggestions feature. Now Motorola force me to think contacts before think about the email itself. How about sending to multiple recipients? Not a good implementation Motorola. Please return the old style please.
Launcher & Menus
Pros
I like the new Dock far better than the old one that I was even embarrassed to show my old screen to anyone. The simplicity of it works for me very well and if I needed something more fancy I know where to find one.
Haptic feedback now works correctly when is disabled. I often disable this feature to save battery (every mV counts).
Cons
Putting Battery Manager and Data Manager under the same menu item didn't appear the best of options.
Cellular Radio
Pros
I really can't comment about the signal quality as I think T-Mobile have major network issues in central London, UK. However, I'm yet to notice battery overheating due to signal problems.
Cons
Noticed this a couple of times where setting the Network to 2G only didn't change the cellular icon on status bar.
Wifi
Pros
The slow download with Market app is solved.
The Wifi appears to play much better coming back from sleep.
Battery
Pros
The battery life noticeably last longer than before. I would estimate additional 2 to 3 hours over the same usage pattern. I'm very pleased about this improvement. Still carry three spare batteries though.
Cons
Even though the new battery driver manages the faulty batteries Motorola produced and sold, hundred of thousands of them, better but the problem is still there. The improvement can be found when the phone is restarted. The new driver reads the correct charge level but still fails to maintain the charge level correctly during the use.
Dialpad
Pros
Just did a quick test for this review and very pleased to report the previous problem with punching numbers during a call is sorted now.
I don't mind the new look either.
Contacts
Cons
I don't like the integrated contacts the way has been implemented. The old one was much better.
I don't like the bold fonts with contact names. Any chance an option is added to the settings to turn it off please?
Those also don't like the new contacts have you managed to find alternatives?
Camera
Pros
I have previously mentioned about the noise level the camera app adds to the taken pictures in comparison to other camera applications. It seems the problem is gone.
Cons
The new camera driver seems too sensitive to the lights now. Cameras are not the subject I'm good at maybe someone else with better understanding of cameras can contribute to this thread please.
Performance
I don't feel any noticeable difference between the two in home launcher term. I freeze a lot of applications that is why.
Opera Mobile on Gingerbread is incredible. With strong 3G signal I cannot tell if I'm on Wifi or 3G really.
Apps opens up much quicker, very noticeable with heavy duty apps like camera, navigation, and media players. First time ran quadrant benchmark I scored 2501.
I'm really happy with the performance of my Atrix for the remaining of my contract, over a year to go.
Task Manager (OS feature)
Pros
It looks better than the same offering in Froyo.
Cons
Am I the only one thinks some apps are actually not being shown when view the list but a minute or so later the app shows up in the list?
Market App
Pros
For one very strange reason I was never able to view the second screenshot of the app in the gallery. This problem has been resolved.
Unexplainable Issues
1. Rebooted the phone and the startup process never passed the boot animation. Pulling the battery didn't solve anything but wiping the cache from Android Recovery Mode did.
2. After changing a hotmail email settings all email accounts stopped sending out emails including non-hotmails. Wiping the cache and resetting up the emails solved the problem out. I removed all the accounts before wiped out the cache, maybe that wasn't necessary. Also maybe at that very moment T-Mobile had issues. Took me a while to re-setup everything again.
3. Out of the blue the phone restarted itself. I have frozen many apps so I didn't expect that one. I have noticed one reboot so far. Is there any boot logger app where I can monitor if my phone reboot itself when I'm not using it? I guess a good project for me as soon as I get the time to learn the Android development environment.
Boot time
Cons
The startup of Atrix on Gingerbread is considerably slower than when it was on Froyo.
Also examining the dmesg log using OSMonitor app I noticed constant warnings about the CPU clock speed, all sort of debug messages, and error messages. Is anyone else has noticed them and are these messages something to worry about?
Edit: attached few screenshots for the sharp eyes of kernel developers. Thanks.
Text Messaging App
Pros
The layout improvement are a welcome and always liked what Motorola offered.
Cons
The character counter disappears while typing. It is an important feature to work properly all the time.
Home Launcher #2
Cons
While in Messaging app upon returing to the home screen the shortcuts disappear. Navigating to next or previous home screen and then returing back to the original screen then the shortcuts reappear again. I have experienced this twice so far.
Further testing revealed defrosting blur.res was not the solution. Also the shortcuts disappearance has nothing to do with which app was being active.
I hate to burst your bubble but I doubt Motorola checks here without reason...
And this was sent to my email from motorola when I wanted to get them the idea of selling Factory Cables and SBK's to fix hard bricked Atrix's:

Plus: People have made custom ROM's that fix the problems that you listed...
Hey guys,
I don't know another place to ask for this.
I have my phone since Nov...
Before I had two iPhones for five years, so I wasn't informed about Android and that there are problems with some manufacturers because they don't want to unlock the bootloader and anything else. My first smartphone was a Galaxy S and at this time it was no problem to get root and install Cyanogen. So I thought it would be the same thing this time. But this is another problem. Just a little introduction about my bad knowledge about Android. Maybe it helps to solve my problems...
I want my phone to notificate me, if it is necessary. For example when I receive a Message(WhatsApp, Telegram, you know these). But most of the time Whatsapp doesn't want to check for new messages for itself. Sometimes I receive the notification instantly. Telegram doesn't inform me most of the time. So I have to open the App to see if there are new messages, but this cannot be the way it's meant.
When I open Telegram, the LED lights up und I get the notification in my notification bar.
In another forum a possible solution was to change the energy saving settings.
So I deactived most of them for Telegram. ->mustn't automatic start is off | planned activation in background is off | deep-sleep-mode is off
Only thing that I allowed is closing the app when I lock my phone. (I hope you understand the translation of the settings.. I can only read the german name for them)
Tapatalk, Wunderlist, FB Messenger(not important, I want to delete it some day), sometimes Youtube a list of the apps where I want to receive notifications but I don't.
Another strange problem has the standard clock widget. I installed Nova Launcher and put the clock widget on the first homescreen. But it updates the time only a few times a day. I didn't find a setting to "activate" the widget, like the energy savings or something similar. Now I have a weather widget at that place and this works. I can see the correct time and weather.
I don't know why this doesn't work properly. I hope that you guys can solve my problem with your big knowledge of Android.
Thanks for reading.
