When a known contact is calling it shows me the contact picture. Can I set a picture for contacts that are unknown???
I think it uses this graphic "Avatar-01.png" in \windows. Try to put another picture (maintain pix size) and see. Let us know if it works.
Noop!
I tried that 64x64 pixels, reset the device, but no new avatar!
I am sorry. Could be this one predefined_image_male.png
Try and see. Let us know the outcome.
GRRRRRR it is in ROM
Because of that I can't change it... But the tip was good!

Im having fun with the XDA 2 camera, even though its not a megapixel one but it still produce quality pictures.
What i'm into right now are the templates for the camera, like the magazine and totem templates built-in.
My question is, these templates are GIF in natures, How can they be created and do they have special formats if a make a GIF file in any picture/photo/drawing software?
Also, where can we download additional templates?
Thanks
The Templates were offered by Ia Style http://www.iastyle.com/
But now it is out of market..and site is down.
Unfortunately I don't have any copy of it..Only some templates for Called ID
I've got a copy, but I don't have a server to upload and host it.
If someone can tell me where I can upload it, I'll put it in a RAR-file for you guys.
i would also like to know the specifics for creating these files and does anybody out there have any tips oh and the templates for Called ID where can we get them or create our own
Maybe this can help
thanks do you have any caller id templates there the ones i want to be able to create from those samples of the camera templates it seems that the picture area is defined by a white border in the last frame and you can create the multi photo template by adding an extra frame so in total you would have 3 frames the 1 st picture or main picture in the first frame then the second picture in the 2 nd frame and then the picture area frame the 3rd hope this makes sence
R_AL_Sim...i don't quite understand with what you said...Maybe you can make it clearer ? Sorry for that...But i have caller id templates though. Hope it will help ! Cheerz !
right then if you open one of the gif files in a animation/gif editing program such as animation shop which comes with paintshop pro you will see that it is made up of at least 2 seperate frames these seperate frames define diferent parts of the template
contents of a 2 frame template
Frame 1
This defines the design of the template basicly what you see when you use a template with the camera
Frame 2
This defines the area where the photo will be visble using a white line marking the area
for more than 2 frames
Every frame after the second shows what area the next phot will be placed in
i have included a sample jpg of what the difference in the frames should be
hope this makes more sence to you

I'm sorry! As far as I know this forum is for user helping another user, when they need help... People ask to seek help and to learn somethings new. Why we got one coz we can afford one.
Hello!
I discover just yesterday that I can take a photo using the preset image "WOMAN-MEN" that allow me to make 2 shots to make one picture.
Someone known the name of that archive? I want to modify that image to make anothers presets. Something like one photo to shot the body and another to shot the face so I can mix peoples body and faces.
If i remember correctly, this is done by using a .gif template. The first frame of the .gif animation is the first "shot", the second frame is the second shot and so on.
I believe the templates are in my documents.
Thanks!! I found the templates. Now I having trouble editing my owns. Sometimes they dont even appear in the list. I think its 'cause i'm editing them with ImageReady and perhaps its 'optimizing' them in a way that the camera dont recognize them as valid.
try photoshop
I've been searching for an answer to this question for a while with no luck so far.
Outlook 2003 has a placeholder for a photo on each contact's details page. This picture can be used in the People tab on the Touch HD.
What is the ideal specification for such a picture (resolution and actual size)?
It may be obvious to others but it isn't to me!
TIA
I don't know what the optimum size is, but if you add the contact photo from within the contacts app it will be small and at low resolution.
The best option for me is to resize the desired image to the same size as the screen and then add it to a contact from A_C's S2V program. This then allows a full screen photo for caller ID with another of A_Cs programs S2U2. This works fine on my Kaiser and I see no reason it wont work on my Blackstone when it finally arrives.
Hope this helps.
i just got my touch hd yesterday and i instantly had to figure out the same problem.
i recommend to sync all your contact with your pc and then add the pictures later at the "people tab" on your device.
anyways,
the contact pictures in the "people tab" are 268x268 pixels.
that works pretty good, just try it.
Most people seem to agree 256x256 is the best resolution to use, however if you import the picture from Outlook it'll be horrible quality no matter what the original resolution was.
You need to select the picture from TouchFlo on the contacts tab to get the best quality (which still isn't fantastic).
some clues here:

Is it still 256x256 in PNG format for HTC Sense ?
Try 400x400 pixel size. I use a 400x400 JPG and work fine for me.

Should have read up higher. I can confirm that is still the exact resolution for HTC Sense.
All,
Can anyone help me here? I am trying to figure out the idea size of a picture for a contact in Outlook that will look best in the Sense UI. Anyone know? The contact pics that are picked up from face book look great, the ones I created look like crap. What is the trick here? Thanks!
Yes I have wondered this as well, I dont use the favorites tab b/c of this, every pic I have is blurry.
Anyone know?
A lot of views but no answers...anyone?
200x200 pixels
Try 200x200 pixels.
Use S2V (freeware) to assign pics to contacts. I always create 300x300 jpeg pictures (for future use). After you assigned the contacts they will also sync just fine with Outlook.
Even full screen caller ID's look wonderful!
S2V
Thanks that works well.
Hi All,
I dont have an HD2 (Wish I did but monies tight) but I have a question that I and trying to find an answer to. It requires a test if no one has done it yet.
Can someone please go into the camera Set it to its highest setting with superfine selected for quality and take a picture and then see what the size of the file is. Then Go to the HTC msg app, and create a new msg tap the paperclip to attach a picture and then take the same picture, and tell me what the size of the file is? (If this has already been done I am sorry).
It seems that with the Touch Pro 2, and my guess the HD2 as well have two different settings for the camera to take pictures. The reason I asked for this info is because I am trying to see if there is a way to stop the re-sizing of the pictures to such a drastic small size. If this has been covered please direct me to the link cause I havent seen a thread about it yet anywhere.
If not, would someone try that and get back to me?
I got 718.9 kb for a non mms picture, when I went to add one to mms it was 41.8 kb..hopefully that helps
It helps confirm my suspicison that there is two camera settings, but I dont know if the p1-p10 setting under HKLM/Software/HTC/Camera is where the msg camera setting is located.
Thanks for doing that, now that its confirmed that HD2 and TP2 both have two different camera settings, now to find out where, because under ATT you have a 600K limit to send MMS, so why doesnt it re-size it to a decent size instead of so small.
