FMRadio problem - Touch HD General

By listening to the FM Radio, is the device after 10 min off (reboot)
Who has a problem with that?
--------------------------------
HTC Touch HD (NLD)
Rom: 1.14.404.3 (22273) (NLD)
Rom Date: 10/25/08
Radio: 1.09.25.14

I have a HD with the same specs and language and also experience the same problem. Device reboots while listening to FM radio. Not sure it happens every 10 minutes. Could be every 15-30 minutes.
Hope someone has a solution.

Thanks for the warning. He is the police radio guy...
It's kind of strange to say you have a solution, but not post a link or some other info.

police radio guy ??

In some other thread on this forum - which I cannot find right now - he said he has some software for using the HD to listen to the police band on FM. Various people asked for more info and/or a link, but he didn't deliver.

reboot
I have my HD since january. I never used frm radio too much. Today i used it for about 30 minutes and i experienced the device reboot. I 'm using 1.14 stock rom. I bought it in Miami but i think the phone is from UK.
Any idea if this is a software or hardware problem?
thanks

No idea if it's hardware or software. I'm using FM radio quite regularly. Over the past week I've experienced various reboots, but it also has been on twice for over 10 hours.

LOL.
The only reason people are paying atention to his crap now is because they were when he posted the police thread, but that just BS anyways

Hahaha...'Police Radio Guy'. Oh Man !! people do almost anything to be famous. Then there was one 'Multi Touch Screen application' Guy
BTW Police Radio was good one !!!

I need to check with my HD

I also have problems with the FM Radio. It doesn't reboot the device, but in 9 of then tries, I don't receive anything. For 2 or three days, it worked for me to enable/disable Bluetooth and WiFi. Afterwards everything was fine for about 15-20mins. Then suddenly the reception was gone again.. Only strange noise (no white noise!)... Since 3 days, I can't get it to work at all :-(((( Reset doesn't hep....
I also tried playing around with the registry keys.. but no success....
Any ideas would be great !!

Any one have the same Issue? when calling or receiving phonecall, no sound

I have a HTC, with Chinese version ROM, Radio. 1.64.08.21.
this bug happens from time to time.
when I make phonecalls, I can not hear any sounds, also the other side can not when the call connected.
sometimes it is the same when I receive the phoncalls.
this happens ofenly especially when I use BT or headsets.
any one has the same problem?
Any one knows how to solve it?
Looks like a lame BT stack messing up with everything
If you quickly have a glance at the whole forum for Polaris you'll notice lots of people are experiencing the same problem, including myself.
I believe the BT stack is messing up with it. I dunno...
One thing I am considering is loading Android into my TC and then making sure it is not a design flaw. None of my previous HTC phones had as many problems at the same time as my Polaris does.
And it seemed to be the perfect one!

Strongly recommend that you revert back to your factory Radio or 1.54.25.14

I already say to you - dont be stupid.
Factory Radio ROM is 21.23 and its not solve problem with BT.
Radio 25.14 was recreated from Kaiser and very bad for most reasons.
And for future - think before any posts.
I got the same problem in the past when use the factory radio.

Phone vibrates but crashes when recieving calls

After installing one of the WM6 images (The one at the top of the WM6 forum, can't remember its name) my phone now crashes when I recieve any calls. It vibrates and shows the caller on screen but then it crashes and freezes, can't do anything but hit the reset button on the back :/
Any theories on why this is happening?
(Edit: This only happens when its on standby)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=390888
It's a WM6 related problem.
Use WM5 and you'll have no problem.
I can confirm this. I had exactly the same problem with one of the WM6 roms. Phone would ring and vibrate, but I couldn't answer, and had to soft reset to stop the vibrating.
This problem disappeared with my changing to another of the wm6 ROMs. Seems it only affects one (or some) of them. It's definitely not a battery issue, as I've witnessed this with the old, original battery as well as with two brand new replacement batteries.
Thanks for the help guys!

It might not be the ROM doing it. I downgrade from 1.15+ RADIO to the old jasjar OEM Radio 1.09 . I havent had issues with my Tomal/Ranju 7.7 since the last 14 hours or so..might help you guys as well.

i don't think that helps. i used radio rom 1.09. when i had that problem the first few times; then i flashed 1.15. and still have that problem.

My opinion and tried and tested solution - if you have HTC Home - remove it. It solved my problem, never even thought it was the culprit in the first place. But after a few latest ROM tests and subsequent re-flash back to Tomal's 7.7 with radio 1.15, I avoided installing HTC Home and had no failed calls since.
htc home was one of the first things i disabled. couldn't use it anyway; but it didn't help. flashing roms w/o htc home also didn't help, as well as upgrading to radio rom 1.18.00.
btw: my device is a G3 device. could that be a reason?
I had the same problem when I had installed HTC home, after a lot of radio and ROM testing, I found that using Ranju´s v7.6 and radio 1.09 problem disapear completly, and now I can use HTC Home!!! (The large version)
Hope this helps
Cheers

PROBLEM *HTC Touch HD Auto-Restarting*

Hi,
I'm having an issue with my HD where sometimes the phone restarts on its own..it doesn't happen often but it does occur..mainly when I am listening to the radio..is anyone else experiencing this or know why this is happening so i can fix it?
Thanks
Incase it helps the only 3rd Party Softwares I have installed are
Coreplayer
Tomtom 7 with USA maps
Gyrator 2
NoData
Voice Command 1.6
SD TuneUP
My ROM and Radio are original HTC
I've had exactly the same thing happen with me, the system restarts of its own accord. Again, listening with the radio. It's happened three times so far, over a two week period.
I know it doesn't help, but at least you know you are not alone!!
My ROM and Radio are original version.

Thanks for the reply..glad to know I'm not alone on this issue ..i do find that this issue does not occur if i have the phone charging via usb while listening to the radio
My versions are:
ROM: 1.14.405.3 (22273) WWE
Radio: 1.09.25.14
My restarted twice and i didn't do anything....one time was lying on the table and second time was connected while charging the battery....
If i woldn't have to enter pin after reboot i wouldn't worry much - but i have to do it so this is disturbing because i once didn' see it rebooted....
I also had it twice within one week time. It also happened when I was listening to the radio.
ROM: 1.14.404.3 (22273) NLD
Radio: 1.09.25.14
I've had my HD for a week now, and mine has done it every day so far!!! I dont listen to the FM radio, so its not that causing it - it has happened when I have been web browsing, texting, putting in a contact, and even when in my pocket doing nothing.
I take it that as this thread has received so few posts that this is not a common issue and I should simply return the handset for a replacement? Maybe we all have "friday afternoon" models?
I had the same problem. My HD worked fine, and then constantly auto-restarted.
I tried everything- reflashed the ROM, took all the programs off, hard-resetted. Nothing worked.
...Then I changed the battery, and the problem disappeared for a couple of weeks, but it's returned today!
For my few pence worth, it's something to do with the battery, or at least the way the battery talks to the device. Not an expert and no idea!
Had a similar problem where it just rebooted for no reason. Was like this for around 3 - 4 weeks and then completely died. Sent back to HTC for repair and had it returned with a new main board. After 2 hours of use it died again. Sent it back a second time, had another new main board, the FPC connector was re-seated and now all is ok so far. Just hope you guys are not going down my route.
Never had that happen to me. Sounds like a hardware issue.
...Interestingly (and I've read this somewhere before), I've tried switching my network from Auto to GSM, and I have had no more issues.
I travel across the country- a lot on trains, and I suspect one of the things triggering the failure is switching between bands.
I have also heard that it may not have anything to do with the handset, and is SIM related. I don't know enough to comment on that.
I had the same problem when i was listening to the radio. I thin i have found a way to go around the radio-problem. I installed powerradio and my phone haven't restarted all day. Hope i helps

ps. sorry for my bad english
my htc hd auto restart at the window 6.1 green screen
what could go wrong?
it was OK in the past....
i try to swap battery with other HD, same problem
I hard reset ,same problem, keep auto restart at green window screen
i use boot loader flash to new ROM, 6.1 still have the same auto restart problem
i have to believe hardware failure, where could go wrong?
i suspect reset button stuck, ...before the green screen appear, i presss restart button, no response. Strange.. because my other set HTC HD reset button response before green window screen
I've had the same problem a number of times. It seems to depend on the Rom. I just tried Laurentius's final Blackstone Rom and it would happen 4 -5 times a day. Dutty's Leo 9 Rom does it too but his R2 seems stable. Am going to try out the Dusk-More Rom now
Yep I am having a similar problem though has nothing to do with the radio. I have posted a thread on it also "HD Touch On/Off Problem".
Happens usually once or twice after taking it off charge for the night and then it's fine for the rest of the day.
I had something like that with mine, the problem was the battery, I switched with a new genuine battery and until now i did't had more problems, but it was in my case....
Flashing stock rom solves hard reset issue
Flashed a stock Rom 1 week ago before flashing a cooked rom again. It's been a week and it seems to have solved the problem.....touch wood.
If anyone else tries this, post a message to let others know if it works.
Hopefully, I won't be posting here again
i had the same problem.
i reflashed original spl, rom, radio then i put again the custom stuff, and the problem has gone!
now its 1 month without problems
Youtube freezes on HD2
I can validate your frustration. I am having problems with my HD2 freezing up as well and doing a soft reset on it's own. So the YouTube app opens up the HTC player and then it will play a few seconds and then freeze up. I also opened an MP4 movie file and view it with the HTC player and that also froze it. Last but not least, I have TomTom and that froze it after 15 minutes last night.
I have seen some postings that Tmobile and HTC will be releasing a new rom to fix some memory leaking issues so perhaps that might be it.
It started happening about a week ago for me. Please post any solutions you might find.
I am on:
OS v.5.2.21889
Mania v.2.5.20121412.1
ROM v.2.10.531.1 WWE
Radio v. 2.08.50.08.2
I have the same problem, but not related to fm radio.
It just happens...
It also happens when the phone is trying to start. It restarts, a few times when it shows "smart mobility" just before the radio, rom and other information at the right bottom.
I only rolled back to the official rom and radio, many hard resets, but it still happens..
I'll try to specify under what conditions it's happening, and will post again..
...I do not know what to do...
Hi everybody, I have the same problem on my HD.
It's restart on its own and some times if it's turned off then it turns on by its own
I've tried the following test without solve the problem :
- several hard reset
- with and without SIM
- with and without memory card
- with another battery (new)
- upgrade with original firmware
I add that the problem appeared suddenly
Unfortunately it's no longer under warranty then I would like to know if there's a solution different from send it to HTC.
Thanks to all.

MY solution for crackling speaker... BUT...!

hi there. i made an interesting experience today:
i tested several roms to satisfy my needs while i always used radio rom 2.07. this was the best for me in battery life and sound quality... but like on all other radio roms i had the annoying cracks while i speak to my girlfriend (or every other woman).
some days ago i found the right rom for me: rtt shock rom rc7i german. i still tried to use radio rom 2.07 but there was a problem with it:
i can't hear the people talking on other side and my hd2 freezes when ending a call after that i gave one of the newest radio roms a try. it's 2.08... with a _02 at the end, and korean or chinese setup! my problems were gone.
but i gained another problem: the quality of calls was decreased - i have much more noise when talking to someone than with other roms. but what can i say:
i phoned several times with my girlfriend and all the cracklings are gone!!! i'm very happy and confident that there will be a radio rom and rom combination that will have no crackling and no noise.
maybe you just want to try out my combination (as there also exists a wwe version of rtt rom!) - but surely i can't promise that it also works for you! on the other hand you maybe share my confidence for next roms developed for our hd2!
thx for your attention!
p.s: excuse my english - as you can read above i'm from germany
radio 2.08 is optimised for T-Mobile USA and therefore some performance degredation can be expected in Europe. The poor call qaulity has made me go back to the 1.66 radio.
well i thought there will be more interest on this topic since there have a lot of people the crackling speaker issue!
but i'm not sure if i stick with the 2.08 radio, not because of the poor quality. it's the faster battery drain and the changes from hsdpa to GPRS even if i stay at the same place.
hopefully there will be a better radio soon!
even if nobody cares, i have to inform you that i found a good compromise
just installed radio rom 2.07.50.27_2. with it the battery drain is much better and call quality even has improved!
heard of a new radio rom 2.08.xx coming next week! it always can be better so i can't wait for it!
Have tried 2.07 and 2.08 radios and problem still there. I am just trying to live with it until a solution is found

Yeah but the fact is: I also tried this radio several times and the crackling didnt disappear. But it DID in combination with the RTT ROM. Dont have any clue why but there are some users in a german forum reporting the same... Maybe you want to give it a try... Do a FullBackup, flash RTTs ROM and the Radio... If it doesnt help go back and use your Full Backup. I dont know how annoyed you are of the crackling but this might solve it even for you
@Fruchtfliege: Taking it over from pocketpc.ch to the Devs huh? Good idea Always nice to meet the same people in different forums

i don't know if it works for everyone in combination with a different rom, but maybe i would give it a try. the main reason why i have posted here (and on other forums) is the fact, that it is possible to fix the crackling since i thought long time that it is a hardware issue (posted on different forums too )
But it DID in combination with the RTT ROM. Dont have any clue why but there are some users in a german forum reporting the same...

nice to hear that it is fixed for you too! i thought it only worked for me until now.
I've tried two separate ROM now with the 2.08 radio and the problem is still there. Guess we'll just have to wait for a radio optimised for the UK/Europe...

FM Radio Issue (Low Sound problem after using FM Radio)

I noticed one bug. After I'm finished listen FM radio when i close it off, all sound on the phone suddenly becomes very low. I need then to go to Music player options and enable Dolby Mobile then the sound comes back to normal and then I can deactivate Dolby Mobile. It happens not every time but most of the times.
This happens only after listening to FM Radio not Music Player.
Same problem here :-(
yeah this bug has been mentioned in another thread around here. We need to inform HTC about this. I've already sent them an email. Everybody else should so they will realize this issue is quite widespread.
Have just send mail to HTC as well.
Got similar problem but a bit of twist. I've got a call while listening to the FM Radio. After the call, the phone won't switch back to FM or to be more specific, the FM app seems to be running but there was no sound.
On the side note, can any confirm the radio is really stereo? I am a bit skeptical but my ears ain't the best. It is certainly Hi-fi. Having been bite by SGS with their first FM radio version being Mono, I am just curious. I must also say that the Radio quality is not as good as SGS's.
(WOW: HTC CS called me back admitting the bugs but of course has no solid date for a fix ....it really doesn't bother me much as the phone is really great when compare to SGS. Besides, I used a BT with radio anyway. They have also noted my question about Gingerbread upgrade which they gave me an expected official answer...i.e. "As the OS was just released yesterday, we are getting more information. We shall let you know soonest possible once the situation clears up."...well, less than 8 hours of response time, what do you expected.)
I told them about this when I noticed it a couple of weeks after the phone came out. They fobbed me off with the 'do a hard reset' response.

at least they answered you HTC is too busy updating its old phones to 2.2 right now
and i'm sure they are delaying any coming update for the DHD to include gingerbread
one thing worries me though about gingerbread, i hope it doesn't come with its own set of bugs the Desire froyo update broke the SD card read speed for example, thank god we have custom kernels
Wrote to HTC yesterday in evening today got email:
"Dear XXXXXXX,
We are aware of this and are currently investigating the issue, Hopefully we will be able to find a root cause and resolve it as soon as possible. Keep an eye on our webpage for update announcements."
