MediaPanel and storage card pics - XPERIA X1 General

I noticed that after I installed the R2A Rom, that the media panel is more streamlined and cleaner when it comes to pics. However it only shows pics on the device and not the storage card. Is there anyway to change this?

Just checked mine and it shows pics on my sd card... but I changed my pics location to sd via auto config, not sure if that has anything to do with it...

Whats "auto config?"

Weird
My photos are all on my card, I know that because my phone has been hard reset 3 or 4 times in the last day.
However, after giving the media panel a couple of minutes to detect all my images, the ones from my card are all there. Infact even the images from the phone are there, but they show at the END of my memory card images.
I am running GENERIC_UK R2AA_10, however behaviour has always been the same for me since R1AA.

Auto config is a fantastic tweaking app by a chap called Schaps... (sorry about the terrible rhymying it just came out that way...) its latest version is 3.3 and can be found on the board somewhere...

I solved this problem in this way:
My picas folder is StorageSD\Pictures
So i replace "DCIM" key with "Pictures" (not "StorageSD\Pictures" !!!) in system registry.
(something about "EXTERNAL_STORAGE_FOLDER" or like)
After that all picas become viewable thru MediaPanel

On R1A rom mine displays storage card files too.

Dopod 818pro camera seting can't save to SD card

Help please someone.
I can't seem to set the camera to save to save on SD card. the only option is main memory and network. I use registry hack so that network apear as a folder. it's courius that network would show up in camera settings but not storage card...
Does anyone know ways to go arround this.
Help appriciated
Huh, I have not found a place where to say the camera a folder to save photos, just the choice of the two: "Main Memory" and "Storage card". As I said to place to the storage card the camera stops to save pictures.
I found that I need to create right folders on the Storage card, from the SD root should be "My Documents", within one should be "My Pictures", just like frome the device root. As I created the folders, camers started to save pictures to "My Pictures" on the SD.
I guess the path is hardcoded, so you just can change the root. Am I wrong? Someone knows how to change the path?
It's just that the camera app is a little screwy. Basically if you disable the network patch you will be able to save to the Storage Card again. The same happens if you enable the extended rom as visible.
I can't remeber the exact cause in detail, but essentially the app looks for the first 'Special Folder' and it displays that plus 'Main Memory'. It assumes that the only 'Special Folder' will be the storage card which in most cases is true but as you found, not all!

Camera Image saving
My problem was I could not save images or video files to storage card (or main memory). My Ext ROM is still NOT Unlocked so I still have the Storage card option in the Camera Settings.
I have checked the Registry keys and they were correct. Eventually, I doubted the folder in the SD Card (My Documents\My Pictures) as it was created before the last ROM upgrade. I deleted the folder My Documents in the SD card and tried the camera again on Photo and Video and the problem was solved, even with saving to the Main Memory although I did not do anything with its folders. The Camera program created the folders again in the SD Card. My assumption that it tries to create the folder but it could not as they were already there and did not flag with error message. I noticed the same behaviour in PCs.
I had similar problems with Words and Camera even with older PPC's when using the SD card.
Registry keys should be:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Image\SaveFolder
= My Pictures
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\Saveto
= 1
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Video\SaveFolder
= My Videos
I heard about the issue with the absence of the Storage Card from the Camera Settings after Unlocking the Ext. ROM and I wonder if the above key value should change to 2 or 3 as the folder structure (logical drives) changes from 0-Main Memory, 1-Storage Card to 0-Main Memory, 1-Ext ROM, 2-Storage Card. (Try it at your own risk as I have not done this)

There's only 2 options: 0 or 1. If you change that key to 2, SaveTo will be empty/blank. I tried it.

All pics on SD card gone

The other day I took a whole lot of pictures and wanted to transfer them to my laptop only to discover that they were all gone. Completely! The folder still exists but there are no pictures whatsoever. Everything else on the SD card is untouched. The pictures were there before, I looked at them on the way home.
Has this ever happened to anyone else? I'm not sure what I did wrong and how this happened.
Does anybody know how to restore those pictures? I found some programs for data recovery but none of them work with SD cards inside PPCs.
Any help would be much appreciated!

UPDATE:
I just saw that the camera saves to the device but not to the SD car at all. Anybody know how to fix this?
Hanmin: GetBackData can't be installed on the Prophet and if I install it on my laptop there is no option to restore data on a device that's plugged in. At least I didn't find any...
This happend to me too. I don't know why. I could not recover my pictures. To allow the Camera function to save new pictures in the memory card again I had to delete the already empty 'My Pictures' folder in the memory card.
I looked at the Registry and found the paths in saveto for pictures and videos were different, I edited it to point to the memory card.
Jayxz: you're supposed to use the Data Recovery software on your PC, using a memory card reader to access the card.
You should be aware though, if you've used the card at all since the problem, you may have permanently lost your data.
You can find specialist apps to go through, sector by sector, finding jpgs etc, but if the original data is corrupted, it'll be messy.

[Q] Redirecting My Documents and My pictures to Storage Card does not seem to "stick"

[Q] Redirecting My Documents and My pictures to Storage Card does not seem to "stick"
Hi,
got my HD2 yesterday and have been toying since to set it up the way I'm used to with my previous Touch Pro and TytnII before that.
This shows again how spoiled we've been with excellent roms like the Energy Series!
I'm using the same 4GB microSD card I had on the TouchPRo since all my pictures etc are on there but I can't get the pictures displayed in the picture tab of Touchflo.
I redirected all relevant 'location' folders using Advanced Config but after soft reset, the HD2 is still displaying the demo pictures that come with the phone.
New pictures get stored on the storage card, but in the DCIM folder although I also specified the store location to be 'My Pictures'.
I tried both the pre-defined storage card locations in Advance Config, as well as the browse option to go to the relevant folder.
I though maybe it is because I have the Dutch HD2 version (yes, I could not wait as the WWE is only available on the 13th) but I checked and the storage card is named 'storage card', not some Dutch translation.
Anybody have any pointers where I could change this?
thanks a lot.
DicE
nobody who could help me? Been looking into the registry past couple of days at HKLM\Software\HTC\Camera\image; HKLM\Services\Picture etc... every key seems to point to the right locations; but still when I take a picture, it doesn't show up in the TouchFlo3D interface...
help anyone?
DicE
the manual says that you must add a "album" as "favorite album" to show the pics in manila on todayscreen. maybe this is the solution?

I'm not sure this is what you're asking, but here's a quote from the manual:
Captured photos are named using the convention IMAGnnnn.jpg (where ‘nnnn’ is the counter), and are saved to the \DCIM\100MEDIA folder on the storage card.
and
To set a favorite album
The Photos & Videos tab on the Home screen displays photos and video files from the current favorite album. By default, the Camera Shots album which stores the photos and videos you captured using the Camera is set as the favorite album. You can change to another favorite album, if preferred.
1. On the Albums main screen, tap Albums.
2. On the Albums tab ( ), tap the album you want to set as your favorite.
3. Tap Menu > Set Album as Favorite, and then tap OK.
It looks to me like the pictures can be stored on the card, but only in one location and you must specify the location.
Sorry if I misinterpreted your question (I don't have an HD2 to play with yet).
-Bob-
@rebecker - you have almost miss understood The OP wants the Camera software to SAVE the photos into \storage card\My Documents\My Pictures - this does not work, none of the usual reg key changes work.
Default camea picture folder - DCIM vs My Pictures
I also have a similar problem. I've changed HKLM\software\HTC\camera\general\EnableDCIM = 0, so that I can use date/time prefix.
After the change, the HTC Album recognize \Storage Card\My Documents\My Pictures as the default camera folder. However, when I actually took a photo it went to DCIM folder... Not a big deal, but it is just a little annoying.
Any expert here know how to solve this?
Exactly the same problem. The camera saves its shoots to DCIM\100media, and not to My pictures, even if DCIM = 0...
I have 1.43 rom and I have also wanted to change default my picture and my documents folder to the folder on storage card. I didn't made it.
For the photo tab...yes I wanted few thing here too...because everytime I've set the favourite album to the storage card/photos...that was reset everytime I've connected hd2 to pc or when i removed microsd card and put it back...
The only way that I kept my favourite album fixed was with not connecting with usb or removing the card.
Ok...it takes only few seconds to change the favourite album back, but it is very annoying that hd2 doesnt remember the folder...
looks like live mesh mobile works pretty good.
I did something stupid and installed it on the storage card. I'm going to do a whole new install, and try on device to see if there's a difference. I got an error about invalid config, blah blah. it seems to loop on sync since i got the error, but the documents appear to sync anyhow.

[Q] Installed ES File Explorer, but Gallery won't display moved images

I bought the Aquos (reluctantly) a couple of weeks ago and am not overall impressed, but am stuck with it for now...so am dealing.
But I have having major anxiety (OK, maybe just major annoyance) about the storage issue. I have a 64gb card attached and it is fairly useless. I can't move apps over since the firmware doesn't support app2sd (i think that is what i saw one Dev put on their site).
OK, so I downloaded ES File Explorer and I can move things between the device storage and the SD card easy enough, but as soon as I move images - the gallery won't show them anymore.. They are there... I can navigate to them from apps... But just not the gallery.
In my gallery you can see folders i moved onto the card via taking the card our and putting it in a reader. So I know the gallery 'sees' the card.
I have even moved and/or saved a file into one of the folders on the card that is already showing... And they don't show in the gallery.
Is anyone else having this issue? Or is this maybe just my phone.. (I have tried 2 different SD cards, a 32gb and the 64gb and get the same results)

I have used ES File Explorer for years and haven't had this issue, even on the Crystal...
Are they images that other Image Browsers can view also? If the Gallery app is set to default, clear it, and try viewing the photos with ES, Google Photos, or other apps when it prompts you to choose an app to display the pic.
If that fails, try formatting the card through the phone and moving the photos again.
I use quickpic always an it always registers when I move anything over through es.
Always is a loaded word... If it always worked then why isn't It still working?
Before you give up on this phone I think you should try my above post or something else. Instead of factory resetting the phone as a last resort I think you should do so anyways to see if that will fix the freezes you've been having.
My personal opinion is that you should see if your problems go away by trying X (whatever that might be). My philosophy is that if something is broken I try and fix it. If I can fix it I'll be cautious to not repeat the initial problem. If I can't, whether it's not worth fixing after evaluation or too expensive to do so, I can have a clear-ish conscious towards disposing of it. In the end this is my opinion and you can do whatever you want with your stuff.
Well in the past 4 years quickpic is THE ONLY gallery app I'll use. ES and Quickpic are the first 2 things I install on any new ROM and phone. As far as always goes I just said that because I have never had an issue with it or es.
I don't know what to tell you...
I too use ES as my file manager and previously used that to transfer most of my images to my SD card. After I installed Quickpic I was able to view all the images I transferred to my SD card.

I had this same problem and with ES files. Look through you're files and if you find files " .nomedia " delete them . I still don't know how the .nomedia files got on my phone but soon as I deleted them all my photos in Gallery showed back up. No more problems with photos.
Back last February I had a problem with files named
.nomedia and they caused problems with my photos stored on my phone. After I realized it was nomedia files causing the problem I deleted all nomedia files and all was good until last week. Now the nomedia files are showing up again. I delete them only to have the nomedia files return. Delete the file and it shows back up in a different place,in a different file. It's always someplace on my SD Card and I can't get rid of it.
I'm not sure what to do?

Your photos and videos should be under Camera if taken with it, there is a little icon on the folder if it's external. Otherwise in their respective folders. The Gallery has both your internal and external medias per default (not even sure it can be changed, unless you manually hide them). I'm thinking your SD card might be bad, which would also explain the high memory notification you get on reboot. Backup what's on it to your pc or other device, format it and copy the stuff that you need/want back on it.

Do you still get the high memory notification after formatting? If so, test something: Format the sd card, put it in your phone with nothing on it and reboot to see if you get the notification. If you don't, the issue is one or a few of your files on it. If you do tho, the sd card is faulty or simply doesn't play well with the S7.

Sounds like you had a faulty device. The issue you've experienced are quite isolated. Sucks though cause it's a great device
