Videocall fails! Help! - Touch HD General

Hi there!
Got a problem: making a videocall from the Touch HD doesn't work at all. It gives some kind of message like 'videocall failed, try again?'. I am in a 3G area.
The strange thing is that I CAN make a videocall FROM my K850i TO the Blackstone (and then videocall works fine!) but NOT the other direction. I have tried both a T-mob sim and Vodafone Sim. They both work in the K850 but not in the Touch HD..
So, what's the problem?
Thanks in advance,
Ivo

I have the exact same problem! I've contacted my provider but they didn't know what it was either. I asked if it was a feature on my SIM or phone that needed enabling but they couldn't help me. This is very frustrating. Anyone got any answers?

I have the same problem and provider says that is the phone, because i bought it unlocked and not to them... But in my case, N95 and N97 can´t contact me, with same provider.
thanks in advance to whom may help us...

I have had this problem
And in my case, I found a solution:
The other phone was not "registered" as videocall-enabled by my provider... I made calls to other phones and I confirmed it worked fine !!
It depends on the videocall configuration of your provider: which phones they "accept" for videocall

mda compact........no service help needed

Hi, just purchased tmobile compact from my mate who is off to a sunnier place, ive unlocked it and put in a pay and go o2 sim, everything worked fine, i installed tom tom 5 and that works fine but now on the phone side it says no service. everything was fine before, gprs etc (manually put in details supplied by o2).I have done a hard reset but the problem still exsists. the sim works fine in my other phone and my vodafone sim works fine in the mda.Is there something really simple im missing here, your help would be appriciated, cheers
Cant anyone help.?????????????
Hmm, I've never heard of this one before..
Have you tried unlocking your phone again? Or do you perhaps have a Duo Simcard pack? You know, where you get 2 simcards so you can always have a backup in another phone (I had that with my previous Vodafone subscription). If so, are you sure you don't have the other phone turned on?
Your "mate" didn't call up his phone company and get the IMEI number blocked after he sold it to you, did he? Man, now that would suck!
I had the same problem, I fixed it by upgrading reflashing radio rom. It might work for you.
i have unlocked it again.no joy........not using duel sim holder and it hasnt been blocked, just seems strange it was ok as i said then this....no service message,
update..... the mda seems to accept all network simms apart from o2........as i said it did work fine ........i just dont understand it, can you ?????

Did your "mate" also have the phone on the O2 network? If so, they may have somehow locked the IMEI. If so, you should be able to call them to allow your phone to work. Having their network know that the SIM card doesn't match who they think owns the Mini is the only thing that makes sense to me...
o2 sim works in my samsung d500........my bt (vodafone )sim works in the mda, i just cant see why the o2 sim wont work in the mda anymore.
I guess this has got us all beat, thanks for trying though.
Just spoken to o2 who say the mda has no blocks at all on it, and they couldnt figure out why the o2 sim no longer works in it.

No Video Calls with Trinity?

I have a Trinity and my phone provider is vodafone Germany. I tried everything to get a Video call to work but it just doesn't work. I have the 3g symbol on the display all the time and I live in Cologne which has UMTS everywhere. But if I call a number (my wifes number same provider and standing next to me so she has UMTS too) it seems as it should be ringing at the other end but it doesn't even ring there ...
Did anyone manage to make a video call with the trinity?
I HAVE THE SAME problem... I was thinking was signal problem.... but....
btw I can't send and receive mms too )))
Video Call and MMS works on mine =)
Works here...
video calling works with mine (O2, UK)

I couldnt send mms too. so i completely resetted (hard reset) and followed the vodafone mms instructions. Now it works. But still no video call.
Still no video calls on german vodafone?
so no one has managed to make a video call with the trinity on vodafone germany?
Today I made my first video call with T-Mobile Netherlands, so it does work.
still no video calls
I tried with my trinity with several vodafone germany cards and it does not work. It seems my device is defective.
Tried it last week with a video-call to my brother (he using a SE K800i on Orange), and it seems to work great Had to change the dial-pad back to the default HTC one though, cause the M$ one doesn't show the buttons to initiate a video-call
i have made a videocall with t-mobile nl, but the other person did not see me.. i could see him on my screen., and myself in the lower corner. And no, we were not filming eachother. ;-)
what about that ? we both were on umts network, standing next to eachother.
is it something on my phone i forgot to turn on ?
i have a orange spv m700, (yes officially unlocked, thnx to the nice man in the orange shop!)
he has a nokia N73
It seems the Vodafone network in germany does not "see" that my trinity is on UMTS. If I try to use Vodafone TV it says that I am currently not on UMTS which I am.... very strange... any help is much appreciated
I am having the same problem with Telsra in Australia. I have the 3G symbol, the service says it is on UMTS Telstra, can browse the net with HSDPA, everything else seems fine.
Maybe a lame question, but you have the video call service enabled by your operator/contract? Maybe you require some settings on the phone to be recognized as video call enabled/ to operate on the network?
MMS
I can not send MMS too. It drives me really crazy!!!
I have a dutch KPN provider

Since no one has answered this question yet: Yes, it works, albeit not to my satisfaction.
I'm using a Vodafone compact GPS (which should be identical to the HTC 3600=Trinity) on Vodafone Germany on the other (dark) side of the Rhine with good UMTS coverage (at least two bars). When phoning to, say, a Samsung UMTS mobile phone, I receive good picture quality and reasonable sound quality. However, the other side fails to receive decent sound; what is arriving there is regularly sort of "chopped" and hardly understandable. I'm not sure about the reason for this, but I suspect that it is my "Trinity" that is misbehaving (too slow? inadequate configuration settings?), as the Samsung's video arrives nicely and has good quality. It could also be the other way, of course, or it could be a Vodafone network problem.
Does anyone have any experience (good or bad) with the video call quality on the Trinity?
PS: Hello to everybody, I'm new to this forum, and I apologise for any misbehaviour in advance as it is not intended , and yes, I have used the "search" option .

A hard reset involves deleting all data, right? I'm not looking forward to configuring the ppc again, really. But I guess it's worth a try, as the AEG-principle hardly ever fails...

Hi Elfriede. Welcome to the forum. Case you are german (der Name klingt danach) try this forum too: http://www.ppc-welt.info/community/forumdisplay.php?f=174
I sold my P3600 which I had bought from amazon just for the not working video calls. I then bought a Vodafone compact GPS... guess what... the video calls didn't work too. The guys at vodafone (which I had phoned 10 times for this problem and which had told me it must be my p3600's fault) just forgot to switch UMTS on!!! Now it works (I lost a few 100 € just because of vodafone-no-competence-service...)

Unable to make or receive calls

I wonder if anyone can help with a fault on my M3100. So far I've searched this website for answers with no luck. I have Hard Reset the phone, upgraded the Radio, all without any luck.
About 6 days ago my M3100 suddenly stopped being able to make or receive calls. Whenever I try to dial out the call drops out before being established, and if I try to call in to the phone the caller receives a series of beeps.
At first it seems to be a SIM problem, but the Vodaphone SIM is fine in any other phone. If I put my Orange SIM in the phone it just comes up as "No Service".
I'm at the end of the line in what to do and it doesn't seems to make any sense.
Any comments, suggestions, advice or help very much appreciated.
..... Further symptom details:
I can send and receive text message with my Vodaphone SIM installed and access WiFi and GPRS networks. Orange SIM won't connect at all! Both SIMS work fine in a standard phone ! Only clue I can think of here is that the Vodaphone SIM is UMPTS and GSM where the Orange is GSM only. The spare phone I tested them in was GSM only.
Could the GSM part of the M3100 be stuffed ?
I'm stumped for the time being!! It doesn't seem to make any logical sense. Maybe any of you who know the in's and out's of how the device communicates might find some clues in that...
Heeeeelp !
More details..
I've just added a few more details on the symtoms.. maybe the few extra clues might yeild some thoughts from someone !
Have you checked the band selection in Settings > Phone?
Is it possible that the phone could have become blacklisted? How long have you had it? How did you buy it? (This is probably NOT it, since the text still works.)
Have you tried a tweaker to enable HSPDA?
Had the phone for over 12 months so Blacklisted shouldn't be the issue. I've tried all the band selections including Auto but no luck.
Haven't tried the Tweaker... do you have any details on that...
Up until it suddenly stopped working it worked on all networks..
Another possible clue is that I was "Roaming" in France for a month and it was there that I made my last successful call. I have UK SIMS... I have an Australian SIM which I'll try now to see if that makes any difference..
Tried an Australian SIM roaming in the UK ! The service connects on two available networks,Vodaphone and TMobile but not on Orange and O2 (like with the Orange UK SIM). Same fault as the before with the networks it will connect to.
This seems to eliminate the SIM or Network being the fault and isolate the fault to the Device...
probably not the issues, but worth a try?
I live in a very strong 3G + HSPDA ares, but cant make or recieve anycalls tho texts work on T-mobile, i need to have my phone in 2G mode, and calls work fine???
If i leave my house and go a few miles 3G works as it should able to call and recieve etc!
Can't seem to work out how to force the phone onto 2G or 3G ... if anyone can advise I'll give that a try!
I have had very similar problems to this.
Please see my post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=325149
I do think this is some sort of network problem as after I posted the issues in the thread above, I left home and travelled about 6 miles and the signal came back and the phone worked fine.
Today, I have been able to make and receice calls but all of a sudden I got cut off from a call then could not make or receive calls (incoming goes straight to voicemail).
I can however use my Orange SIM without problem and both Vodafone and Orange SIMs work fine in other phones.

You can also go into Settings > Phone > Band.
If the band tab does not appear (to the right of the network tab), then you may need to do a registry tweak.
From the very helpful wiki:
Enable/Disable GSM/UMTS Band Selection
Cingular kindly disables anything useful about the network on the 8525. To enable the Band Selection Tab on your Phone settings page, set the following:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000001
To disable, simply clear the value to 0:
[\HKLM\Software\OEM\PhoneSetting\]
"ShowUMTSBandPage"=dword:00000000

Have travelled outside England again this week and... well the phone works fine roaming on my UK Vodaphone SIM. Seems very ODD.. only thing I can put any logic to is a problem with the GSM part of the phone. It's working here in Stockholm on the 3G network no problem.
Anyone advise how I force the phone to be on GSM and 3G so I can test this theory. The BAND settings under SETTINGS>PHONE don't seem to give you this control over how it connects..
Hey i got the same problem anyone solved it yet!
Hi Sunnyb1
Since my last post I returned to England where the phone was useless. No SIM cards would work, some would not register at all but my Vodaphone SIM seemed to register but as before it would not receive calls, nor could I make calls out.
Now I'm in Australia with an Australian SIM card. NO PROBLEMS AT ALL !!
The phone works just fine !!
It's a mystery indeed...
Without any knowledge of the ins & Outs of how a SIM card / Network / and the phone work together it's impossible for me to arrive at any conclusive logic.
Hopefully someone might stand up to the plate and offer some explanation !
Anyone from HTC out there ??????
Steve

I got the phone and it was working perfectly on Orange then i tried unlocking it and ever since it has come up with "NO Service" like you everytime i put a Orange Sim in the phone it does not show up.. but when i put a Vodafone sim it works perfectly i tried reflashing the radio's many times
I unlocked this particular phone 6months before this problem showed up so I don't think the Unlock on it's own is the cause. What's particularly baffling is that a SIM may not work with the phone in one country.. but in another it works fine.
..... another country that is !
Hey Steve i have found out what the problem is after hours of research
I found this of another website
Orange & O2:
If you place an active orange or
O2 sim into a blacklisted handset you
phone will not show any signal strength
at all! If the handset is a Nokia then a
"SIM card registration failed" message
will also be displayed. If your handset is an
Ericsson then an "Invalid Mobile" message
will be displayed. For most other manufacturers
the handset will simply show no signal!
Vodafone & T-Mobile
If you place an active Vodafone or T-Mobile sim into a blacklisted handset, the phone will appear to function perfectly UNTIL you try to make an outgoing call. When you try to call out from the handset you will hear a sequence of beeps and then the call will be dropped!!
........
This means the handset you got is stolen or someone has blacklisted it ... i got mine of EBAY! and reading that i figured that it is stolen
It wont work in the UK but it will work everywhere else in the world
Mmmm... that's interesting Sunnyb1. If my phone is blacklisted then happened in JULY this year which was 8 months after I bought the phone. I bought the phone legit .
Can anyone advise what the "Blacklisting" process is.. I assume its done by using the IMEI number.
Who is the rightful owner of a handset and can any phone be blacklisted by anyone, and possibly by mistake ?
Would unlocking the phone from Orange cause a phone to be blacklisted ??
How can you "Un-blacklist" a phone.
Answered my own question here......
This website seems to have the answers
http://www.unlockme.co.uk/blacklist.html
OK... still on this thread. Can anyone advise how you find out which network in the UK has blocked your an IMEI number. I gather any of the UK networks can block any IMEI and it's not unknown for errors to be made. But only the network that blocks the IMEI can Unblock it.
Thought I'd post this before waiting forever for some call centre dimwit to give me the runaround.
Thanks...

HTC HD2, cannot register on selected network

Hi all, maybe someone has an answer here. Tried other threads, but some are slightly different then mine. I've bought this phone second-handed. Had it unlocked but it wong register on 3mobile network. The phone was a T-mobile, and its sim-card works fine. The 3mobile sim-card work fine in my xperia x10. Thinking about being branded, i debranded the phone, but still no luck. Still giving me the exclamation marc by the antenna with an "X" beside it.
So what i want (need) if no one has an answer for this is: Can i go back to the T-Mobile brand again? Again, i read some threads, but they are a bit confusing for a newby as me! Sorry!!
If i can do so, how it has to be done, so i can send to T-mobile or HTC itself so they can have a look..
Thank you very much for your help!

any updates on this? same problem here.
tried hard reset, soft reset, reinstalled new ROM, flashed back to TMOUS stock rom... no go.
if i do a manual search for networks, HD2 finds them, but can't register.
phone connection is ON.
band set to Auto.
There is a thread similar to this on this forum about a month ago. They found out that that the phone was registered as stolen and the ieme was blocked. There is nothing that you can do about it.
has anyone found a solution to this problem yet?
My gf just started having this problem today. She's had the phone for almost 3-4 months now, so I don't understand if someone mixed up IMEI's or what?

[Q] lost calls and sms access still have APN

Hi folks,
I have lost access to phone and sms access from T-mobile uk on my unlocked SF.
I have tried the SIM on another handset, which worked fine and I have tried a different SIM in the SF handset but i'm having the same issue, so it seems to be a fault with the handset.
Has anone else had these issues? Did you find a solution?
Thanks
