anybody have an issue with the letter mmmmmmmmmmm written on the sceen? the phone does that sometimes? any ideas?
no clue what you're talking about.
do you mean your phone screws up when typing the letter 'M' sometimes, or when you type mmmmmmmmmmm?
if the latter, then why the hell are you doing it anyway?
seriously though, maybe your M key is a little ****ed, i dunno

I have a Cingular 8125 that I've been using quite heavily for about a year now. Unfortunately, a lot of the keys on my Qwerty keyboard are starting to get EXTREMELY difficult to press, especially the Del, W, V, F, R, and a couple others.
What I was wondering is if anyone knows of any software I could download that will change the "on-screen" keyboard from the small windows one you have to tap with the stylus, to an iPhone looking one with larger keys you can actually tap with your fingers.

That was pretty good, but I wouldn't mind the keys being a little bigger. Those are still a little tough to press on. I do like how it doesn't accept the letter until you let off the screen tho, that IS nice.
Anyone else know of any such utilities out there?
Bumpity bump!! Anyone know of any other software keyboards I can try out?
I had the same problem
My 8125 keys started becoming very unresponsive and I had to call Cingular and they actually warrantied it... Now I have a new 8125 and the same problem is occurring but even worse now and even the 'red dot' key.
I am trying to flash now to a newer version that I had on my other phone. It showed a little display square on the bottom of the screen for when the red dot was on or off. Do you happen to know what flash version enables that or how to enable it?
Good luck getting yours warrantied

I'll give it a try, hopefully that works.
As for the firmware or whatever you're referring to goes, I believe that's what I have installed on mine. Lemme see if I can find which one it is.
EDIT: Found it. It's the Molski AKU3.3

Hi.
I frequently send text message, and I've noticed that over the duration I've had this phone (about 6 months) the response of the keys has dropped.
When I first got it, I could type messages quickly and with about 95% accuracy.
Now when I type. I though the keys and frequently they do NOT come up. It first started with the "Circle" Key, now it's across most of them now.
Is this normal? Just general wear and tear? Any solutions at this stage?
Cheers
Edit: Using a JasJam, With WM6 Shaminix Grass.
Well, No lag is going on. Don't really have to push it harder either.
It's more of a needing to press the key twice (mostly) for it to come up.
Which is most annyoing as you type a sentance and you look what you've typed and it dosen't make sense. So you have to go back and edit it and etc..

Well, unfortunately in a way, that sounds like a hardware issue. Maybe a touch of oxidization on the contacts. This does not normally happen though when the keyboard is used often. The keyboard could be replaced, though whether that's worth it would depend on how bad it seems to you.
Just to be sure it's a hardware issue you could do a full backup and a hard re-set. Before loading the backup back on you could test the keyboard responsiveness (self evidently if it's better then it's a software issue).
Mike
i have the same problem too
Maybe you can try to detach your keybord and then use alcohol to clean your keybord.Maybe it will help.Beacause if there is too much dust in your phone, it will cause the keys touching problem.

ohhh.. sounds scary! i dont know how to do that..
I too have a lazy key on my device that needs a harder press but i would second what Mike said and try a hard reset. Make sure you have about 20 megs of free memory or more when punching out emails texts etc or you may see it skip button presses or give lag...depending on how fast you type (in my experience)
This is the most bizarre that could happend...every single time i type the letter L my mogul froze, it doesnt matter if its from the screen or keyboard still do the same thing and it doesnt allow me to do anything AT ALL!! it start with opera, now i cant even send txt message...this is really annoying..

I'm guessing hardware failure. Something failed on a board that's under the L key. Pressing it flexes whatever is failed such that it causes a short or opens a connection/trace on the board.
its time to get 'er serviced/replaced.

how did you backup your contacts?
Sorry missed the soft keyboard bit.
My guess is corrupted word completion file, since it happens on the first letter.
I am having a similar problem with mine only when texting . I f I do a hard reset will I lose all of the registry tweaks I have made along with my aGPS fix? If so that would really suck.

this sounds like a possibility. if you're having this problem, try turning off word completion and see if the issue remains... may be able to rule that out.
it got worse..it got to a point that i couldnt type anything, not even see the keyboard on the screen..i had to hard reset and lose all my contacts...i install outlook to only backup my contacts but it gave me error message..really bad..now since i hard reset all synch goes fine...too bad i had to hard reset..
A few keys on the keyboard doesn't work when you just click it, you have to press down hard for them to work, and some of them enter in multiple times when i just press it once. Is it dirty or something, how can i fix this, outside of buying a new keyboard?
Mine does the same. There was a fix posted in another thread, but it doesn't seem to have fixed all of the problems I am having. I have to push ****ing hard on the period button for it to work.

Qwerty keyboard fix
They keyfix helped my problem with duplicate letters... hoowww arre youuu dooiing?
But, I had problems with certain keys not registering button presses. For me it was mostly the "Y" key. There is a thread over at PPCGeeks about this issue.
The keyfix does NOT fix this problem.
I am actually waiting on my replacement to arrive from fedex, got it replaced under warranty.
Call your customer support and let them know this IS a known issue with the hardware keyboard.
Enjoy your replacement.
Spray it wih contact cleaner. See near the bottom of this thread.

Verizon xv6800 slide out keyboard issues
I have some issues with the letters Q,L,O,A and Z. What seems to be happening is, when I push these letters in, it will come up with a little screen asking me if I use a different letter or symbol. For example, when Q is pressed, it comes up with a little window that says basically, do you want to use the @ sign or W. This only happens with the letters above. Everything else works fine. In the input settings, I turned off the enable auto correction and word suggestion. I even ran the fix and it still seems to do the same thing. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks in advance
Mike
Q and P are my biggest culprits.
I just received my third replacement in a little over a year for this exact problem. Somehow everytime I've called about it Verizon still says it's not a known issue... It should be a known issue from MY replacements alone.
The keys that aren't functioning correctly for me are A, Cap/Shift, the blue dotted button (function key I guess), P, Del, the Right arrow, and that's pretty much it.
Hello. I've searched all over, and haven't seen this problem anywhere. Once in awhile when I send a text, it'll send a bunch of gibberish. something like this: ???a???n???d and so on. some of the letters are there in between question marks and upside down question marks. Might be 3 or 4 lines of this. It used to only happen to one perticular recipiant, but now is doing it to several. Might not do it for days, or might happen 10 times in one day. It did it before I rooted my phone, and still does after. I've un- and rerooted. No change. I've rebooted when this happens, sometimes getting it to stop, but not always. I did a factory reset, and it didn't stop. This was all using the factory texting app, so I downloaded handcent. Guess what? Still did it yesterday. I'm about ready to throw this thing against a wall. Anyone have any fixes? Thanks in advance for any help!
Is the gibberish there using qwery or virtual keyboard? Is the gibberish the "alt" equivelent of the letters you are trying to type, as if the alt lock is on? Maybe you're just pressing alt twice and locking it on.
Sent from my T-Mobile G2 using telepathy and unicorn dust!
Its the qwerty keyboard. I don’t use the virtual one at all. The text is usually a question mark or an upside down question mark with the letters I'm trying to type in between. Like this: h?e?l?l?o?. And so on... Btw, it looks fine on my screen before I send it. Looks fine after I send it too.

In android you get the upside down question mark by holding the question mark key. But I'm guessing this is a problem with the phones receiving your message. Very often unrecognized characters (like apostrophes, or accẽnted symbols) will convert to the upside down question mark on ****ty phones. All smartphones can usually recognize these characters.
Are you sure their occurrence is random and not when you use certain characters? Are you sure this isn't just happening on one recipient with a ****ty phone? Can you recreate the issue so it is not random, or is it entirely random?
At first it was one person with a crappy phone, but its happened to 4 people, 2 are smart phones. It might only happen once or twice a week, but when it happens, it gets like stuck in a loop. It will happen every text that I send to the affected person, while other texts to other people are fine. Don’t really know how it finally goes away either. Restarting my phone worked the first few times, but makes no difference now.

Sounds like it might be their phone having trouble receiving the text correctly. but then at the same time if restarting your phone worked (possibly just a coincidence) then it has to be from your phone. you might try reprogramming to your network i think it's *228 and listen for the option to reprogram or you could just try updating the roaming and stuff with the same number different selection. idk if it will work but it couldn't hurt right?
