Hi there,
Using a German G1 updated with signed-kila-ota-126986.f6469a1e.zip
The update was working without any problems, but now, the G1 is completly in english (no problem so far), the settings for US, keeps sending SMS to a unknown number and so on.
Normally it is not possible to make an update if this is not for the same region or if it from a different carrie.r
I think this is a really bad bug, because this Update shouldn´t work on german devices, so someone of the Google-dev did some mistakes..
Or let me say, my device has now not the features that it should have and, I have to check my bill next month, it causes costs it shouldn´t.
Cheers,
brasax
My car has a similar bug as well:
If i drive really fast and pull the handbrake while stearing left or right I loose control over it. Thats a serious security issue...
No, seriously now:
It would be a bug, if one could make this update by accident. But NOBODY will ever do that. You did something to the device which it was originally never supposed to, so it`s your own fault.
Sorry, but this is wrong..
Normally there should be a version-control or a check.
For example Nokia or SE. They will check first the firmware-version (generic, carrier and so on) and then it is allowing an update or not. So it is impossible to flash an german version with an us-version and vice versa (if you do the legal way and not using davinci)
In this case, it was nowhere written that this update is not for german devices and it is an official update from google, downloaded from the website.
The update should not be possible at all if it is not for german devices..
Same is happening with other RC, they are not working, message appears: not allowed.
The update was working without any issues, no warnings at all.
hi brasax,
i too had the same problem with the weird essemsses. you are probably talking about something like this "Die Kurzwahl 72059 ist nicht vergeben." , well it hapened for about 18 hours and now all is fine. i read somewhere that you will not be charged for them. whatever the case, we are in the same boat.
otherwise, i am sort of enjoying the update
I don´t have any problems with this version, beside the sms..
But I think Google needs to now about that..
are you still receiving those smses? i am happy not to receive them any more.
if you consider it to be a bug that the update installs on the german g1, i find it a good bug because otherwise we wouldnt have had the pleasure of enjoying the update now.
and i am pretty sure that google is aware of the fact that we are able to update our devices to rc33 using "signed-kila-ota-126986.f6469a1e.zip"
i hope that you are aware that you are able to revert back to the official german version in case you find the update annoying
It is not a bug. You are referring to a US build. A US build that uses MyFaves. MyFaves that uses SMS to update. The country code on the outgoing isn't going through so no, you shouldn't be charged.

The only official way of updating the device is to wait for an OTA update and confirm it. When there is another (unofficial) way of flashing it and it takes even other languages (which actually are working without any fault) it is not necessarily a bug.
If you see it that way, it would be a hardware bug that you can run the device on Nokia Batteries as well.
This forum offers hundreds of ROMs, which were originally never designed to work on the devices we flash it to. Is that all just a bug which needs to be fixed?
Maybe there is misunderstanding.
If you use a ROM that is not from Google itself, then it is not a bug, then you defently do something you can, but you shouldn´t do.
Same with Davinci for SE-devices. You can use Davinci to flash any firmware you are not supposed to and you loosing your guaranty. If you flash it with a firmware that is delivered from SE directly for your phone and afterwards it is not working correctly, then it is a problem of SE and they have to deliver a solution to fix it. That is the reason that you only get, for example, firmwares only for the german market and not from US.
In this case, it was an official upgrade from Google and not a custum-build one.

well, i had just read this:
"Übrigens kann man mit einer Art Ctrl-Alt-Entfernen das G1 auf Werkseinstellungen zurücksetzen. Nachtrag: Allerdings werden hier nur die Daten und Einstellungen gelöscht, die Firmware-Version bleibt. Für ein Downgrade z.B. zurück auf RC29 muss man ein Image auf das G1 hochspielen und das Gerät falshen (hier die Anleitung)."
here: http://electrobabe.at/tag/t-mobile-g1/
which misled me to think that it is possible pretty simply, but upon further research to try and reply to your question, i have noticed that it's probably not that easily possible
sorry

I am about to take delivery of my new X1. Now, my prob is I am British but live in The Netherlands. As this is from a Dutch provider it is safe to assume that it will be in Dutch. Now my question is I have downloaded and installed a multilanguage file and converted my Omnia i900 to English. Can I do the same for the X1? Or is an ml file just for the os windows 6.1? Therefore I can use the same one? Or must it be specific to the X1? Any help much appreciated.

C'mon Criag! You live here and you don't wanna learn Dutch? Haha, how's that gonna help you with the ladies?
I don't think it's gonna be too much of a problem to operate the phone, most functions speak for themselves, some of the advanced settings will be harder to set, just ask someone to translate or use a good old Dutch to English dictionary!
If you're too lazy for that (like me, lol)... Just wait for the super CID and flash it with another ROM. Just be a little more patient. In the meantime enjoy the phone!

Heel goed jongen!
I agree with you, and to be honest I'd like to have my X1 in English as well, since I hate the Dutch on the phone... It seems awkward.
Craig,
In regard to your first post, it's possible to flash your X1 with another rom now!
I've done mine today (from T-Mobile NL) and I've flashed it with an unbranded UK rom. Check out the procedure here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407148
After you've installed the modified hardSPL follow these steps (and find the ROM there):

Goodluck and enjoy your Xperia in English!

Well no insult to my Dutch friends...but this is all double Dutch to me!! So, I run the 3 parts of the RUU straight to my X1, then run the X1 hard spl also straight to it via Sync. Thats it or do I have to download and run all the files in here

Hi!
I'm planning to buy a Transformer asap and saw that Paul succeeded in rooting his device.
But I'm a little confused. Didn't ASUS officially state that bootloader and root access will be open from stock?
Saw that on the official german ASUS blog:
Holger (ASUS employee) said:
Hallo Mo, laut den Aussagen aus dem Produktmanagement ist der Bootloader offen, ein eigenes ROM kann also installiert werden. [...] Viele Grüße Holger

Seems like these informations are incorrect, right? At least root rights weren't open after all... This is a pretty serious false statement then because it was a big reason to get that device, besides great screen and docking station It really differed ASUS from most other companies' policy.
You know the burnt child dreads the fire... I'm using an SE Xperia X10 whose bootloader couldn't be cracked/bypassed for a whole year!
Can anyone please comment on current bootloader state? Rooting isn't really enough for me as long as there's no full kernel customizability.
Regards

The state of the bootloader will be THE deciding factor on whether or not I buy this device. If it's locked, I will (sadly) leave it on the shelf at the store.
Sent from my Milestone using XDA App
Asus Poland said on Facebook that "the bootloader won't be unlocked" - but they usually don't know anything and just guess (they also claimed that Trasnformer is capable of playing high profile videos).
I hard-bricked my phone. Every step brought me deeper into the black hole which the phone is now. The last operation was to flash a rom per "dd in= out=/dev/sd..". Only the qualcomm modem is recognized now. I asked the experts from gsm-europe.de for unbricking service but got negative answer. Is there really no way to resurrect it?

"To my knowledge there is no solution available for this model yet, unfortunately." (No reply on phone calls)
My exact question was "LG G2 (ls980) hard-bricked: I hard-bricked my phone with the attempt to flash it with dd. Now it reports as modem only under Linux. Can you fix it?"
I consider to ask another service. Cannot believe that rewriting the bootsector is that difficult.
Hi XDA!
So I recently acquired (about 4 days ago) the unlocked, single-sim version of the Huawei P9 Lite VNS-L31. I remember that as soon as I connected it to the Wi-Fi, it download an OTA update to the version VNS-L31C33B105. After that I did some browsing around here, and I found out that there was a new version the B130 for the European variant. Silly me, decided to download and flash it via SD-Card. I noticed the region was diferent than mine but I still went ahead. After the update I checked the version and to my surprise it wasn't the VNS-L31C432B130, but instead it shows has VNS-L31C900B130.
My question is if I should be worried about this, as I may be cut off from OTA updates? If yes how do I fix this.
Thank you in advance

Heyho,
so far i know, to solve this problem, u need to the aligned custom.bin and maybe also the aligned oeminfo... To flash/copy both of them u'll need an unlocked boot-loader and root rights.
To solve ur problem, and also unlock dual-sim on ur single-sim device, u can use my toolkit. Just proceed with the steps under Dual-Sim.
PS: If u have any questions, feel free to contact me.

Im well aware of your toolkit and let me congratulate you on that. Excelent job on it. Thank you so much for your time and dedication. :good: Yes I figured i'd had to unlock the BL and root to fix it. There's people over at the P9 section saying they went through the same but the OTA updates still came anyway.
But anyways I'll still unlock the bootloader. Another question since we're talking about it? With unlocked BL, but stock recovery, there will be no problems with flashing future updates through SD-Card right?
Once again thank you so much for your contribution to our device. Keep it up

Hey again. I went ahead and unlocked the BL, Rooted, Flashed the stock recovery, and enabled dual-sim. The processed went smoothly without any problems what so ever. (Ther was a bump at the storage encryption asking for a password because for some dumb reason the keyboard wouldn't open, but i rebooted and then it showed up)
You were right, the device now reports as VNS-L31C432B130, and the 2nd slot for the SIM Card is working perfectly well.
You are the MAN! Thank you so much for the reply and the fix. Keep up the good work Sebastian!

Heyho,
yes it's possible to update via SD-Card/internal storage with an unlocked boot-loader. The only problem u'll have after an OTA or manual flashed update, u'll loose the unlocked boot-loader and ur root rights. So after an update u need to unlock and re-root again.
(But dual-sim and custom.bin will stay as before )

Heyho,
yes it's possible, but u must change to the C432 build in order to archive the dual-sim with an working build number (not C900). In this case u only need to follow the instructions right under dual-sim. (Update to L21C432B130, unlock the bootloader + root the device, do the dual-sim upgrade, and flash the L21C432B130 agian, that's all.)
(As u can see in my signature i had also an C150 [T-Mobile] device, now it's an "open" device with dual-sim.)

Recovery Flash HTC M9 Prime camera edition
Hallo Schmidt,

Only Download No Recovery
I keep getting the red warning if I try put the HTC one M9 Prime Camera edition into recovery
This build is for development purposes only. Do not distribute outside of HTC without HTC's consent...
It can only go into download mode.
Did anyone ever get around this lack of Prime camera edition ROM?
I'm on
OS-2.32.401.1
This was not too dreadful a pain when I bought the phone. Now however I can't even wipe it clean for resale. That's as good as a brick to me.
LAST HTC I EVER BUY.
Got a new Lenovo for less and 1 000 000 x better.
Still would love to be able to reset everything and pass on to a pal or family member... I can't even delete my gmail account from the phone.
Painful

I had -2 chances left to get the right password before my data was wiped and phone reset .... I wish
I took a photo if you want to see the ridiculous funny warning...
Help me kill my phone please please

I tried 42 wrong passwords ... Nova wasn't an administrator, an antivirus software was. I removed that as administrator and chose factory reset.
Brick. Nothing. Dead.
OK now It's not only not reusable as a phone it's going to be very hard to recycle as I'm going to have to kill parts of it.
HTC this phone was a total disaster
zombie phone

Oh darn, It's come back to life. vol up + vol don + pwr for 30 seconds it buzzes and asks for the decrypt password again... accounts all still there.
Removed all administrators and tried again with factory reset...
looked bricked again but same ... vol up + vol don + pwr for 30 seconds it buzzes and asks for the decrypt password again... accounts all still there.
Did I mention not liking and not being able to kill the contents of this phone.
That's a serious secutiy risk Mr and Miss HTC. It seems I can now never get rid of this phone without using real world hammer, axe and grinder apps.
Really disappointing. Infuriating, unsustainable, illogical, environmentally irresponsible, unsafe, data insecure piece of ...
