Changing Language from French to English

Hello,
I am a complete noobie to this so apologies if this offends anyone, I have spent the last 2 hours on this site trying to find information about how to change the language on a QTEK9100 from French to English...
The reason I ask is I want to get a QTEK9100 for my father for his birthday next week but he doesnt speak french and so this would be totally pointless unless I could change the phone into english...
Please could someone help me! Step by step instructions would be most useful as I say I have no real knowledge on how to do this, its taken me 25mins to discover that my phone is a "Wizard..." whatever that means....

I think you will find you will have to put a English rom on the PPC, i do not think there is another way!
Edit Stop the presses,
Ok if you go to Start/Settings/System/Regional Settings
But this will not change all the folder names and things like that! The only things that chnage are the calendar day and month etc

What is the PPC?
and also where do I find the said english rom? I have been trying to figure this out all day!

If this is not the most up to date does that mean that it wont be able to be installed over the software version that is already on the QTEK 9100?

Go to this site and have a look for yourself. Since you did not provide us with a little more information (ie provider, country) it's hard to help you here. Normally you can downgrade to an older firmware, but it's not that easy. Watch out for a tool with romupgrade and noID in the name. But as always, dealing with this not official tools can brick your device.

PS: RUU and WWE shows it's an english ROM

You can flash to a new version of RoM which should be in English and your Qtek would be in English. The bootloader would still be in french but it really does not matter. The Keyboard is also problamatic since the French Keys layout remains, although it works as a QWERTY one. You can remap the keys but not worth it, its easier to memorize them.
you can check your Rom from start/settings/system/device information
just use a RoM which is newer than the installed french RoM

How to change language? Swedish to English

I bought qtek9100 and was told that it has English version of the Windows Mobile 5 in English, but it was in Swedish. Now I want to change the langauge, how to do it?
I have already unlocked the CID and phone using the lockiwiz.
I am completely new to the Mobile PDA stuffs, so try to be explicit like how to get into the ROM. I am whining also because of the linguistic reasons.
Help solicited and will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

im having the same problem with mine only mines in dutch.
but i figured i just moved here a month ago and its a good way to learn a bit of the language.
I've had my phone about 3 weeks and can now pretty much negotiate it all and picking up some dutch on the way. its all good.

Um, the question sorta confused me... I think you were asking how to change the language from Sweedish TO english... I feel the easiest way would be to flash a new rom (ok, maybee it is not the easiest, but it is the easiest I know of, it will be the most complete and you upgrade the thing at the same time, so why not?) I would flash the T-Mo 2.26, simply because it is the latest and I like it. I am not sure if it is worldwide English or American English (or what the heck the difference is anyway...) but I know it is english b/c I can read it... This rom is available somewhere around here, or PM me and I will email it to you... Hope this helps

Will changing ROM image change language?
Thank you everyone who replied to my question, yet I have some questions as below before proceeding (I used the lokiwiz0.2b to unlock sim and cid, do I still need to run the 0.3a version of lockiwiz?).

Now my question (of course newbie) is how to install it? And will Changing the ROM will change the language of the Windows Mobile 5.0 too?
Please be explicit (because I am lost in my qtek in a language which I don't understand and I am doing a guess work all the time). Thanks again.

I tried to execute the ROM image I downloaded as stated above but held back because the ROM seems to be downgrading from 2.17.7.203 SVE to 2.17.2.202 WWE. So I held back.
In the meantime, I came across three posts and got confused which one to follow?

Guys, got a 4350 in Dutch and I want to have this toy in english.
Download a lot o S*** and nothing work, can some point me to the right place and help me out.

You can try installing an english rom from here :
Available Original Shipped ROM Versions
But I suggest that you have your original RUU from your carrier before in case you brick your phone.

The answer to your question is remarkably simple; a search thru the different forums would have answered your question. But we're not to lame the help you on your way
You can find all original RUU, including the WWE edition, in these forum and the wikipage. If you flash this WWE edition RUU version to you p3450 you have the english toy. Since your flashing, you might try the Touch-It version. The same OS but enhanced and slimmed down to make it more userfriendly.
One warning before you start flashing; make sure you have read enough to be sure you know what you're doingand you don't brick your phone.
If you have a "vendor-id" error; you will first have to unlock your CID lock. Chech the Mobile 6 subforum and look for a post by canonyang_China on how to flash without CID-unlock

Someone correct me if i'm wrong, but couldnt he have flashed his original rom, used the aserg method and reflashed something like touch it in order to get it into english?

I do agree with u 100% although i did not have more patient and time to spend on this issue, please accept my appoligies for sure i made something wrong and did not work with my "old" toy, at the moment i have the new one, is working as it is suposted, i'm happy and move on.

Can i make my G4 Dutch 6915 English with this?
I read in another topic a user had issues trying to convert his dutch phone to englsih. I don't think he used this rom-update though.
Is this an official hp rom? or a custom made package?

It's not really about the language that i want the english rom, i want it, because the dutch rom just is very slow. It seems the UK rom has better performance. (lots of discussion about this in dutch forums also).
But i'm not really known with the tools i should use to create a proper backup of my hw6915.
Should i use awizard? or mtty 1.4 in bootloader mode? (those were the two main options i read about in the forum here).
A little help to get me in the good direction would be appreciated.

Absolutely this is english WM5.0 rom,but u gotta make sure ur device is G4(G3.9),otherwise u can't upgrade ur device version with this which I provided.

I bought a HD2 from duty free Paris without paying attention it has the french stock ROM
Is there anyway I can install a cab or anything helpful to switch the language to English ?

Yeah thanks but I think I cannot use the other shipped ROMs without HSPL. Correct me if I am wrong.

Since there's no Soft/Hard SPL for HD2 yet you won't be able to just flash a different language ROM.
What you could try in the mean time, is have a look here:

Unfortunately, this is a workaround only for Manila and not the entire OS. I really feel sad as I've read somewhere that cracking the SPL is becoming harder and harder and still not sure if it is going to happen anytime soon. I doubt that even HTC support will care.

Theres not much you can do then as im pretty sure the Roms language cant be changed without flashing a different Rom, which yo ucant do without HardSPL.
Hopefully HardSPL can be done soon but I havent heard much news on it for a while.

I know, we havent had any update recently, the reason why I am afraid that HSPL will not show up anytime soon. If only we can manage to get some good news from Olinex...

I'm from Belgium and if you are not to far away in Germany, I don't mind too to change it with yours!

i think they are just saying that you can install different apps like spb shell that will be in english... i dont think that they are refereeing to some kind of application that can translate the entire rom.
guess we have to wait for hardspl or until QMAT 5.07 and create a goldcard...

The windows mobile arabizer can translate all the OS menus to Arabic language.
I am not sure why such thing is not yet available for English users. The cab is like 5MBs.
