Opera browser closes when loading a website!? - Touch HD General

I've been having some serious problems with browsing the net as while opening some websites that used to be ok in the past, now the Opera explorer closes. If I try to do it again same thing happens and after that the phone seems to be unable to open Opera all together. Also before closing, it keeps bringing up the virtual keyboard again and again even tho I keep pressing "minimize"... is there a way to reinstall opera or sort this out in an easier way?
Thanks for any help.

same here
I have the same trouble, gets very annoying, especially when it wont load at all and you have to soft reset to get opera to load again. How can a company like HTC release a product with so many faults and problems, i think my htc days are coming to an end, no support from them, what a bunch of idiots. very disapionted. what could have been a great product has turned out to be quite crap.

come on guys somebody must know how to sort this out?!

Having the same problem but i reckon its a result of an app i may have installed...dont have a clue which one could be the culprit!!
Installed some more apps 2day and now my Opera wount even load
Any got ay ideas??

Hey guys, any of you has intalled a replacement for the top bar? There are some UI improvements that are designed for the Diamond and not for the blackstone. As a result, you can't rotate the screen, and Opera gets minimized when you try to do that. I have this issue with a 'Vista-like' top bar.

I think that might have been it. I also had a vista like top bar which looked good and at first sight didnt seem to cause any problems but i guess there were some complications when it came to opera.

Low Memory All The Time

Hi guys,
just got my self an O2 XDA Mini S. Getting along great so far with it, still learning how to do some things. The only problem i have found so far is the very low ROM that it comes with. After opening about 5-6 programs, i find it to become very sluggish and simple things such as the phone dialer wont open up. I know how to close down unused programs, it just its such a pain having to keep an eye on this. Makes it worse if you forget to close them, and you get someone trying to call you it all goes wrong. Is there any way to increase the physical rom on this or am i stuck with having to close the programs fully everytime?
Cheers
Chris
I have the same problem with low memory & slow performance.
I use Magic Button; which is free and helps a lot. It allows you to really close apps (rather than "minimise") either with the close button or by selecting them from the top menu bar.
Search this forum / google to find it.
Thanks for your reply, looked at the website and seems like the right program. Havent got my link cable at the mo so will try when i get home. Ill let you know of the result.
Cheers
Chris
you mention the phone app not loading - i have this problem but but i'm pretty sure it's nothing to do with low memory as a warning would appear. I'm yet toi pinpoint the causes of this problem :-(
Ive found that if i reset the phone the app worked because it freed up all the used memory. Because of this, after i use some apps on the phone i use the memory manager, get it to close all programs, and this speeds up the phone alot and everything works the way it should. Im going to install the magic button software tonight that was mentioned to close the programs rather than minimise them each time. Hopefully this should sort all the problems out. Ill let you know tommorrow the outcome on this.

Tabbed browsing for internet explorer?

The best thing about Opera for me is the tabs, which is a godsend for GPRS usage. However due to the lastest version of Opera being a buggy piece of crap (worse than the beta imo), i am forced to use IE again.
I remember reading something about a program that added tabbed browsing to IE, but have forgotten what it's called. Does anyone have any idea's?
PIEPlus 2.0
are you using any other programs on the background?
Opera final has been very stable for me, it does not lock up when loading pages like the beta, doesnt have the landscape change mode bug as well.. Double spacing bug is also gone... The rendering is simply amazing and comes close to my desktop version of firefox easily!
I got my device overclocked, though (240mhz), and i dont have much else installed like themes memory-hogging apps like wisbar advance 2.
I used it for 2 days almost all the time and i was so impressed i didnt even wait for the trial to run out, i already bought it. Very very impressed with it.
spb pocket plus does it and a lot of other stuff
ftxbrowser is a free pie addon with tabs - see here http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=44177&highlight=
a bit old but still works and you dont have that annoying keyboard popup problem!

No, nothing else running. Takes 30+ seconds to load up and then constantly freezes on pages for a few seconds or just crashs. I'm not the only one either. Shame, because it does render pages much quicker than IE and copes with java better too
MultiIE v4.0.d71
MultiIE v4.0.d71 does a nice job.

Just tested on my Mogul...daimond keypad still does not work for text input outside of the address bar. Seems to use memory like a *****. I went from 65% to 83% usage, it also kept informing me I was out of memory, though it kept running.
Problems for many with it. It constantly defaults to the standard on screen keyboard every time you need to type something in. You change it back to the keyboard you want but every time it won't stay. I went back to 1522 myself.
the keyboard problem is fine for me, all i do is type 1 key and the on screen goes away.
better then the old ones, which like stopped typing after i type more than 4 characters.
I like it a lot if im honest
Scrolling and over all rendering seems to be better though. It's beta what are you going to do?
eactly, i have played round with it a bit more, and im liking it now, the bug for keyboard oesnt bother me, but another thign i found is closing it one of the times made it rotate
but seeing as i can literally flick me athena so the keyboard disconnects and reconnects to switch it, im not bothered

Messed up Opera

Ok I fiddeled around too much and end of story deleted the settings file in the opera folder Settings.
Well I'd really love to get that file back, or even better the standard shipped opera touch hd version.
Can someone upload or tell me where to get it? Would be awesome.
Buttons are too small and the zoom levels are wrong.
Thanks.

I seem to be getting a messed up opera.
Everytime I open opera, it loads the page correctly in potrait, but then rotate the HD to get a fuller view of the web page that I am browsing, but all the sudden my phone pad opens. It seems that everytime that I am in opera and then I turn the phone sideways, the phone pad opens. How can I stop that? Its so annoying!!!
Previously, I had installed gyrator 2, but this app completely messed up everything, so I've decided uninstalled gyrator 2. Afterwards, I hard reset to make sure I got rid of gyrator 2 and did the usual of sync with my pc, etc.
I have also uninstalled HDtweaks, not sure what good would that be (maybe someone could clarify).
I have installed and customised my HD with:
S2U2-1.35-VGA.cab
1SdkCerts.cab
Colored Top bar WWE.cab
TFL3DIconsV3.cab
CorePlayer. V1.2.5 Build 4506
I noticed S2U2 on your software list... All I know is that S2U2 has Always, on Every phone I have tried it on, screwed something up. Don't get me wrong it is great software and probably not even the cause of your particular problem, but S2U2 has given me very strange and too much annoying problems to rule it out of anything.
The worst thing was lately when I decided to try it on the HD... I just hard reset my HD after having tried a million applications, tweaks, driver changes etc. So a clean start, and since S2U2 was so buggy for me in the past I decided to install it first, to completely rule out that it would perform crap because of any other aftermarket software.
For a little while it worked. Changed some settings, the thing always tended to get confused... so changed the settings to default. Couple of unlocks later... Nice, now I only see the background when I am trying to unlock my phone to make a friggin phone call... The program is called Slide To Unlock and ironically the slider is missing meaning I cannot access my phone. Not a single area on the screen responds, of course. Pressed home key, showing TouchFLO for 100ms before S2U2 takes over again. So in a window of 100ms, I had to press the tasks button on the top right to invoke the close all apps button... crap.
So I decided I'd wait for a more stable version, and tried to uninstall it, lol yes I said tried... On the Diamond, and also on the HD, somehow this has to take like 5 or 10 minutes, for a friggin tiny itsy bitsy <1mb installer package. It just hangs and hangs and you wonder has my phone crashed. Nice. This is just a small pick from the problems I had with the software.
Edit: This is probably not the fault of S2U2, but rather my phone not wanting any iPhone-lookalike software on it
problems still persist with opera. everytime i rotate the HD, it switches to phone pad.
i think as you said it may be a bug with S2U2, im gonna uninstall S2U2.
So far so good....

I'm not sure I understand your problem: Are you talking about the fact that the page continues to move around WHILE LOADING the page? Or is the page moving around even after it is done loading?
its after the page finishes loading. when you zoom in on a pargraph and start reading, suddenly the browser would shift down a couple of line.
Its annoying because you dont know what happened or how many lines were skipped and you have to manually scroll back

That's odd, I don't think I ever encountered that. What version of Opera are you using?
The OP is saying that the browser re-renders the page on a pinch-to-zoom command, thus bypassing the intended view for some reason - which happens with me as well.
My suggestion would be (from the Opera browser) going into Menu-->Settings--Display and changing the default view to Mobile which should provide a better experience for you. Keep in mind that the ability to zoom is disabled in this feature.
when you view engadget via opera, the top area where they show their most popular news continues to rotate through the possible headers.
For some reason, on opera mobile these 'headers' have different size, so as it switches, the page moves 'up' and 'down.' I'm guessing this is the same issue on espn. I'm not sure if this is opera's fault or flash lite's.
Also, the other possibility is that sometimes opera might still be loading the images, so the page would move down (but never up).
