I'm not sure I understand your problem: Are you talking about the fact that the page continues to move around WHILE LOADING the page? Or is the page moving around even after it is done loading?
its after the page finishes loading. when you zoom in on a pargraph and start reading, suddenly the browser would shift down a couple of line.
Its annoying because you dont know what happened or how many lines were skipped and you have to manually scroll back

That's odd, I don't think I ever encountered that. What version of Opera are you using?
The OP is saying that the browser re-renders the page on a pinch-to-zoom command, thus bypassing the intended view for some reason - which happens with me as well.
My suggestion would be (from the Opera browser) going into Menu-->Settings--Display and changing the default view to Mobile which should provide a better experience for you. Keep in mind that the ability to zoom is disabled in this feature.
when you view engadget via opera, the top area where they show their most popular news continues to rotate through the possible headers.
For some reason, on opera mobile these 'headers' have different size, so as it switches, the page moves 'up' and 'down.' I'm guessing this is the same issue on espn. I'm not sure if this is opera's fault or flash lite's.
Also, the other possibility is that sometimes opera might still be loading the images, so the page would move down (but never up).

If I try to search anything on Google Images, all I get is a blank page.
In single column view, I get everything except the pictures i.e. search field, page numbers, other little graphics etc.
In default view, I get a total blank page.
In desktop view I get a blank page again but I also a horizontal scrollbar with it.
The odd thing is that if I view the source of the results page, it's all there, it just doesn't load at all. I have checked by installing Opera and Google Images displays fine but I don't want to keep Opera.
Any ideas on what's causing this?
Thanks
Anyone have any ideas?
Sounds obvious but you have got PIE set to display images haven't you (Menu-View-Show Pictures).
Sorry if that sounds patronising but it usually is fogetting the obvious
Sounds to me like PIE is a bit screwed, either that or your registry settings are a bit fubared...
Personally I like to use both Opera and PIE, because PIE can load SWFs (provided you've installed the PPC Flash Player 7 cab, of course) so I can get my Weebl and Bob fix, but Opera is just so much better at rendering pages, and its download manager is far superior... And it feels less clunky... And it can do FTP... and... well, just use both side by side for a while and you'll realise it's not a bad investment
Weebl and bob on the phone, what a fantastic idea. <off to load Flash 7>
apologies for my previous post, when I wrote it my phone connection wasn't working so I couldn't try it out. I also am experiencing exactly the same problem as described. Would say it's most likely down to PIE not being able to interpret the script used by the Google Images page.
Yeah, i agree!

But why on some devices and not others? I used to be able to browse perfectly on my JAM.
Anyway, I wanted to avoid a reset but it looks like the only way it might fix whatever's gone wrong.
Thanks
Ok, running default Opera, which is 9.5 build 2682.
1. I can't click unless I zoom in. Very annoying. Any way to change this?
2. There are a few things, like now ability to have popups, I think and maybe page redirects that are preventing me from logging into my dispatch website. is there any info on this?

I have not received my HD yet but have used many versions of Opera 9.5. Some versions can do this, and some can't but you can check.
Type Opera:config into the address, then under adaptive zoom, see if you can find an entry called "Minimum overview zoom". Like I said, some version of opera 9.5 has this, and some don't. If it is there, then you're lucky. Just change it to 85%. You should be able to click and activate the links without zooming in now. (please exit and restart the browser first though).
Please let me know if that helps. I'm still waiting for my HD, which is supposed to arrive this morning.
Sweet, that seemed to work.
I see that it still chugs evrytime I visit my login page, which never changes. Shouldn't this be kept in the cache, so it pops right up?
Maybe I need to increase the browser cache from deafault?

Not sure about the inabiilty to use the pop up. Just taking a guess here, so please don't nail me for doing so. I think it may be that your website uses Java technology which has only works on PC?? I have some bank account logins which also do not work. May be the same kinds of problem.
If it is very important to use that website on your phone and Opera cannot do it, you might want to try other browsers to see if you have better luck. One such browser is Netfront 3.5.
Hope this helps. Sorry that I can't be of more useful assistanct.
That's all helpful info, bro, I appreciate it!
It could even have something to do with flash, I get the same erro rwith the installed version of IE.

Yes, could very well be the case.
If you're not dealing with very confidential information, there is also a possibilty of server based browser, which hopefully will be ble to handle some of those stuffs.
Note that disabling this "annoyance" also disables your ability to fire mouseover events, which are sometimes required to activate dropdown menus.
How do you mean?

I also wonder why they do not make it that way.
My guess is that most phone has very very small screen. At their screen size, it is impossible to read in zoom in mode, so they assume that you need to zoom in anyway before you click.
My present device is Athena (5 inch screen), so even at zoom out mode, we can read very clearly. It makes no sense to have to do the zooming in again before clicking on the link. HD's screen size is not quite that of Athena but is also big enough to read in zoom out mode. So, this tweak makes sense for us, although considered not necessary for the smaller screen phones.
Perhaps I would repost this in the tips and tricks thread.

A-ha! is there a way to disable the annoying "Exit Opera?" dialog box when tapping exit?
Anybody tell me why my Opera only shows history for today/yesterday, while any older selections are empty?
This needs to go into the tips and tricks thread.
Our browsing experience has gone up one more level.
Many Thanks!

I have a question.
Now that we can click links without zooming is there a way to enlarge the fonts bigger than "large" in the settings menu?

I would like to know whenever I go to us.gizmodo.com on my opera browser, why it won't show the comment sections when javascript has always been enabled on my THD? It always say something like loading, but it never does load anything. Also on some sites I completely missing all the navigations buttons so cannot move forward or backwards.

2 it doesnt support the hd's back button
So whats so great about this? How do I make it my default browser as opposed to the Opera already on my Pro?
Gotta wait till I leave this basement to test it with a good signal

it'll overwrite ur current opera
much much faster compared to previous version, imo, atleast on my diamond
Thanks. How do I keep this thing from starting up on boot? Its really annoying and I don't see it in the Windows startup folder.
using it now and there is a number of announces going on. I don't know it's the skin but:
1) if the page (in full screen) is loading and I scroll/pan it will jump out of full screen mode. however, if the page finished loading and I scroll/pan it stays in full screen mode.
2)screen/skin response is a bit laggy at times. I really feels it is skin related because if I click a link in my RSS reader to open in opera it would show that the page is loading but doesn't show that a new tab is open until after (roughly) 10 seconds (where as in earlier builds it is shown immediately). I think this is somehow related to the jumping out of full screen problem.
EDIT
3) when double tap to zoom in, the wait it to focus is a bit longer than usual. restarted and this problem went away.
4) I really prefer the zoom slider at the bottom of the page a) because it's much smoother and responsive, b) because I'm left handed so it's better access.
good things:
1) I like that as you type the text area follows along, even though I have a good size screen I know smaller screen users would appreciate this.
2)it seems faster but some of the discrepancies I mentioned above sort of made this improvement moot.
3) it uses sip that is set at default (tested with TouchPal)
4) got a 59/100 in acid3 test (I think the test is somewhat flawed because it seems network dependent, I ran the test 3 times, I got 59, 57, 60. so I took the middle value of the 3. if I should use the average of these 3 it would be 58.6666∞, technically 59)
5) scroll velocity is back. but it doesn't "refresh" the page as you scroll/pan, so you'll be seeing a lot of gray area even if your height and width buffers are set up to 1028 (although this size helps a lot while reducing velocity to 150).
all in all, I will be using it.
** for those who can't enter text/comment on xda after hitting the "post reply" button while using opera, all you have to do is set user agent spoof to 3 in the config. for the last 5 builds I had to do this to be able to post comments here. not everyone has this problem.
** can anyone post the "image.css" file that should be found in the folder "opera9\styles\"
Guys, if anyone of you used Opera 2520, how does this compare to it? Just wanted some insights that's all!
All the best!
What does "Full Flash support" mean? Youtube (and some other sites) only like in previous versions, or is it really FULL flash support now?
I really doubt it's full flash. It won't do CNN, Yahoo, ESPN, etc. videos. It does some of them at least on my 2520 version.
Yeah the flash addon just makes it really slow. Gonna disable it.
I cannot tell if it's flash that's making it slow, i know those darn stupid scripts make it slow! disabling it is real fast but only do it to websites that don't use those stupid scripts!

disable "delay script execution" in config maybe that will help.
I notice that sometimes android will automatically refresh a web page, one situation that it happens the most is when I am browsing the internet and open a new window from my current page, after browsing the new window and closing it, the original page gets refreshed.
Is there a way to disable this? I dont want it to refresh unless I tell it to, and its really annoying.
I guess the browser simply give up previous page when you open a new window. this is a measure to save memory and increase efficiency. a simple solution is to use a third party broswer like opera mobile.
What's worse is sites that do a perma refresh on a page. The new faceook (non mobile) is an example of that. Totally unuseable with the Android browser
i hate the auto refresh crap. especially if im google reader.
Any news on this?

Except that is SHOWS you the entire page just fine for a second, then refreshes.
Extremely annoying on EDGE especially.
I have no idea how one would go about fixing this, get into the browser code I guess.
I, alas, am no developer, but I'll donate 10 bux toward a developer fixing this, lol.
Ya that auto refresh is terrible, all it does is slow everything down since i only get edge
Most annoying part of android. I hate it to an unmeasurable degree.
I hate opera, as well as any other browser I have seen so far.
I hate this crap too. If someone can hack multi-touch into the browser, surely this can be fixed.

This is a caching issue. It has been discussed many times. Use the swapper script if it really is that important to you.
and "we" need to fix this? Yeah, I'm sure you're going to contribute a whole lot.
wow i'm really sorry, i know i can't do **** about it thats why i hope you guys help me i couldn't find a link with the swapper script
so if you could tell me that and how to apply it i would love you
+1 this problem also really bothers me, hopefully someone can put something together.
generic node i'm waiting fofr your help
Search the forums.
thank you so much generic node i owe you one for that
so i searched for g1 swapper script so if i just run that script the webpage won't auto refresh or what
Hey folks ... first post, and I did try to search for this but came up with nothing.
Wondering if there's a fix or workaround for this. Some pages, when I load them, are not resized correctly for the browser. I would post a link, but ... you can google search for "best of the web today" and the first match is a page that does this wrong-resize behavior.
While it's loading, it is sized correctly. But once it completes loading, it resizes and it's too wide, so I have to scroll horizontally to read it.
This is just one example, but there are many pages that do this.
If I stop the page load before it's 100%, then it stays sized correctly for the browser (well, the block indents still run off the right side, but this seems to be true for every single thing that has block indents). So something that happens when it completes the loading is the problem. FWIW stopping it at like 95% doesn't seem to affect the content.
Any of you seen this, or know how to get around it? It's becoming quite annoying.
have you tried an alternate browser?
no ... is there an alternate browser that 1. doesn't embed ads and 2. supports flash?
tried it in skyfire, same problem.
flash isn't supported with android except the new 2.2 froyo build. even then, most official froyo builds haven't been released. there is a froyo build for the aria built from cyanogen mod source, but flash hasn't been figured out yet.
a lot of people like dolphin browser. opera mini is pretty popular as well.
@mattbollenbach, I think the OP may have meant "FlashLITE support", one of the nicer HTC features, if you ask me. I don't know if there are other browsers that support HTC's FlashLITE, but it shouldn't take too much to test that out.
Personally, the only thing that annoys me about the browser is when I load it, google is my homepage and it never displays correctly... haha, always way to big for the screen. Obviously, this is nothing more than the tiniest of gripes.
