TomTom Navigator 6 - XPERIA X1 General

Hi,
can anybody help- maybe I'm to stupid...
I bought an TomTom navigator 6 and followed the installation instructions. They say, that I should insert the device code. But whatever I do my X1 don't follows. There is nothing on the X1, no .cab or any other file that I could run to start TomTom at my X1. TomTomHome runs fine on my laptop but my X1 looks like it has never seen any TomTom file...
I got an CD with voices and maps and the install routine, also an micro sd card, this schould be inserted an TomTom can be started, but if I put it in my slot nothing ever happens.
Thanks for any idea what I could try...

give me your email address and i can send you the tomtom 7.910 CAB the latest compatible version for the X1

Can you please send me this .cab too?
MOD Edit: e-mail address removed.
Thanks.

TomTom is a licensed application, and cannot be distributed on/through XDA-Developers.

TOMTOM 5.21 and 8125 cant load map.

Ok I am trying to get TomTom running on my 8125. It seems as though I have everything set up right, but when it takes me to the choose a map page, it just hangs there. I have tried US maps, and a Great Britan map, but nothing happens. Anyone know what the problem could be? IT is really driving me insane. Also, I dont see anywhere where to set up GPS unit.
setup.dat?
Do you have a file called setup.dat in \storagecard\my documents\tomtom? You need this file for TomTom to work.
I have to check, I uninstalled it the other day, because i was getting very frustrated. You wouldnt have an installer, or know where to find one at would you?
What kind of TOMTOM are you using?
The maps are in specific format and secondly it depends what kind of tomtom you are using. I mean original or cracked. Post it and i can let you know how to set it up. It's not hard. Works fine on mine 8125 with Holux GpSlim 236.
Take care.
Hummer, I been trying to post my program here but it is too big. Are you running a cracked or a clean version? I have been trying to use a cracked one i found somewhere, but having trouble installing it.
How to...
I am using 5.21 cracked. got it from emule. What you need to do is copy the file on your sd card and then execute it in the pocket pc. then do not open it. Copy the cracked folder in my documents and then replace tomtom.exe file with the cracked exe file, which is inside the crack folder. You can find the original one in program--Navigator. Replace it and install whatever voice you want and then run it. You will be able to bypass activation. Copy the maps in the sd card and your software will detect the maps and you will be good to go.
let me know if it works.
take care.
TomTom 5.21 Success on 8125
The key to TomTom 5.21 is that most of the maps running around (at least for the US) are too old to be recognized by 5.21. The maps need to be 567 (that's V5.67) or greater.
Get everything you need right here:
http://www.gsmhosting.com/vbb/archive/index.php/t-270346.html
Initially I had problems with getting tom tom 5.21 to recognize the maps I copied over to the sd card. I actually had to install the maps from the setup cd from an earlier version. Everything is working smooth now.
Latest USA maps????
I have USA and Canda maps and they work fine with my 8125 but the only problem i have is that these maps are old and don't show my neighbourhood and many other places even though all these places are there for the past 3 years.
Can anyone tell me where can i get the latest maps or may be the recent one that will work.
Any help will be appreciated.
thanks
Latest USA maps????
I need latest US maps for my 8125. Please help! The version of TomTom is 5.21
Thanks!
Here you go - all the US maps can be downloaded from here : http://www.tomtom.com/plus/services/mds.php
in My documents >>> tomtom folder....
do you have a file called CurrentMap.Dat
it needs this file to recognise maps. the file does nothing but needs to be there.
you can make a file in notepad and send it to your ppc, just make sure the file name is correct

Tytn and Tomtom

Anyone managed to get tomtom installed and running, if so how did you do it, i want to install it on my storage card only
Thanks
Chris
I did nothing special, just follow the installer instructions. Which problem do you have?
It wont install on the sd card doesnt even ask then bombs out, did you install from an sd card or a cd rom and then it doesnt find the maps
I installed from cdrom and manually moved the map folders to miniSD card.
Hi,
Go to the TomTom site and download the latest update, then you can install it on the Storage Card....
You have to have legal version....
Thanks guys its all sorted, needed currentmap.dat in my docs works fine now
thanks for the pointers
Chris

Which version of TomTom do I need to purchase for my TyTn? I live in the US.
I am using 5.21, but with spanish maps. Don't know for the US, sorry.
Thats ok. Thanks for the reply. Are you talking about TomTom Mobile or TomTom Navigation?

TomTom Navigator 5.21, that's what I'm using.
TomTom 6 work for me with North America or USA/Canada maps. I think I am currently on TT 6.201 and map Usa and Canada v 675.1409. Support told me that TT 6 would not work on Windows Mobile 6, but its works for me so far....
i got tomtom 6.03 with aussie maps 675,
works brilliantly except for the POI freezing glitch.
the 675 maps has speeds certain roads which is a nice feature providing they dont change the speed limit on the roads it has mapped LOL
Slow startup
I installed Tomtom 5.21 to main memory, map to Storage card.
But it takes a very long time for the app to start, over 1 minute.
I am running official Dopod WM6.
Anybody else duffer from slow startup and any ideas as to what can be done to improve it?

I believe the latest Official release for PPC is Tomtom version 6.03.8320 although there was a version 6.032.8351 which was distributed with HTC P3600i phones. Make sure that you get as a minimum version 6.030.8320 as it is faster...more stable and recognises the built-in GPS. Of the earlier versions only version 6.00 and 6.01 were official releases...6.1 and 6.2 were not "Official" release.
I bought TomTom6 a week ago from www.gpscanada.com and my version is 6.01, paid 145.00 + 10.00 CAD for shipping. I have a tilt and GPS works perfect

Cool. Now on the query is where I can find the 6.03.8320 or the later 6.032.8351. I've tried googling for it but to little avail.
I've browsed the Tom Tom website in the PDA/pocket pc section and still can't find it.

Thanks. I prefer to purchase the latest though. I also need the maps for the UK. By the way, I take it you bought the DVD version?
Hi all. Update:
I've just got off the phone with a TomTom adviser from TomTom company (www.tomtom.com). They have told me the following.
I was told by by the advisor that I have to create account with TomTom. I then have to select navigator 6 model on the website and select the map types I want to purchase.
They told me that the latest updated maps for the UK cost £29.95 and maps for western europe cost £39.95.
I signed up with them and gave them email. Here is what they sent me by email:

I was also told that I can update my maps daily with a function called 'mapshare'. This tool allows users to download the latest maps from other users.
I was also told that the maximum memory card size I can use to put my maps on is 2 GB. I was told if I was to purchase an 8GB memory card, that I won't be able to put the maps on there, and that I would have to switch memory cards to access the maps if I was using an 8GB memory card

Just so you are aware..."mapshare" only works with the Tomtom 7 series maps (and only certain ones) and 7 series software which is for Tomtom devices such as One XL, 910 etc.
It will not work for PPC devices.
Also....version 6.01 will certainly work well on the Kaiser, but 6.03 and 6.032 are later versions...more stable...faster etc. the only downside is that there is a known bug which starts TT in muted mode (no sound) if you have a data session going when you start the TT application. Version 6.01 does not do this.
You should find that when you buy 6.01 you will be able to download software updates from the TT home log in.
Yes I bought the DVD. I do not think that only 2 GB cards can be used as I have installed mine on a 6 GB card and working fine. Also, I just received an email from TomTom stating that version 6 is the latest and there are no upgrades to it

Thanks for that info about Mapshare. It seems the info you’re given by TomTom varies according to the advisor you speak to.

Thanks. Having two memory cards, one for TomTom and an 8GB memory card for other stuff does seem inconvenient.
I do find it odd that some with the TyTN II are claiming to have bought the Minisd version of TomTom even though Minisd cards cannot fit in the TyTNII....

That should be correct. I used TomTom Navigator 5 on my old HP iPAQ hw6515, and when I wanted to upgrade my maps last year I was told that new maps were not available, but I could upgrade to TomTom Navigator 6 for $50. I took the upgrade deal, and I am currently running TomTom Navigator 6.010 on my HTC Tilt with a 4gb storage card. I can put the entire North American map on it and I can go anywhere in the US or Canada without switching maps.
Even if you could find TomTom 5 on Ebay, or elsewhere TomTom has stopped supporting it and there will not be any new maps available.

I previously had my tomtom and maps installed on a 2gb card for my PPC, but i got USA and Canada maps also as i travel there sometimes and tomtom can be quite handy. So as i have UK, france, spain, italy, portugal, germany maps (which i use alot) the USA and Canada wouldnt fit. Got an 8GB card, used the included card reaser to copy all my stuff and it works as well as before. So you can use an 8GB card on PPC for tomtom app and maps

Has anyone gotten TomTom to work on this device yet?

I just got the T-Mobile USA version of the TP2. Here's my issue:
Ok, I have legal maps and software from when I purchased TT6 that I used with my P3300. I tried to use the same TT6 program on the TP2, but it screwed up my BT stack and it wouldn't run anyway. So I downloaded two different versions of TT7 (7.450 & 7.910) that will run, but neither of them can find my US & Canada maps. Is there a way to use TT7 with TT6 maps or is there another version of TT6 that will work with the TP2?
I also went to the TomTom website to see if I could buy new maps. They don't even give you an option to buy it if your phone didn't come preinstalled with TomTom. SUCKS!
TomTom 7.915 installed and working fine here with Western European maps.

Thanx for all the info guys. I'll def use it in the future, but I was able to get US & Canada maps, vers 660 recognizable with TT7.450 by changing the vers#, build#, and ID#. I also had to reregister my maps using my product code. I didn't have any problems after that.
FYI, I could not get some versions of TT7.910 to install as a CAB. Those had to be unbacked first. I did get TT7.450 to install with no problems, but I had to:
1) install it to the SD card first
2) hard reset my device (because the install screws up your BT stack on TP2)
3) then make my short cuts from the storage card
Now all is working fine. I just don't get update features and the better looking maps.
TomTom 7 indeed seems to mess up your BT stack. However removing the dlls it adds on installation fixes this issue, a hard reset is not necessary (I know this won't help you anymore, but it might benefit the next guy )
I've been using TT7 for a while now, it works perfectly and so does my bluetooth.
The files you need to remove/rename are:
\Windows\BtSdkCE30.dll
\Windows\BtCoreIf.dll
There, my first post. I'm new but I quite like this place already.

You should have a "voices" folder on the root of your storage card. If you can connect to TomTom Home on your desktop, you can down load them to your phone. Or you can find them on the net. They're not hard to come by. But you should check to see if your voices folder is on your storage card somewhere.

Were you able to copy the Garmin maps to another storage card or did you have to keep it on the storage card that came with the software? I was looking at buying the Garmin software but that uncertainty made me hesitant.

Ow yes, you'd need something like Total Commander to view/remove .dll files in the /Windows directory. Neither the default WM Explorer or the W7 explorer when USB-linked could do that here.
TT7 works fine here, just some GPS lag and hardware keyboard adds some weird 'a' character after each normal character.
Had BT troubles with some older version, downloaded the latest I could find and had no troubles at all.

Got TomTom 7.915 working fine on TP2, with no issues with BT. Australian and US/Canada maps installed. Installed onto device, with maps on SD card. With voice working.
i have tt7 working for me, here is what I did.
installed tt7 to my sd card then hard reset (because i have all sorts of problems with the bluetooth)
copy my voices files to sd card\program files\navigator\voices
my maps are in the root of the sd card
then use total commander to create a short cut to the program.
I havent had anymore problems at all and it works first time I have flashed my phone 6 times so far and I dont have to reinstall it.
I hope this helps someone here
I read the issues with TT7 so tried to do Garmin XT - City Navigator 2010.10 install. I have it working successfully with Voice, Traffic and Fuel prices.

TomTom on this phone?

How do I install TomTom on this phone? I have tried to install from a cab file that I used successfully on a Touch Pro but the installation fails on the Touch2 reporting the application as incompatible.
Can you please point to a TomTom cab file that works with WM6.5?
Even better if it is a version where I can activate a free local map as in fact that's all is need on this phone....
Thanks.
There are certain sources that provide QVGA cabs, google is your friend.
The QVGA version easily found googling has problems with WM6.5: it screws the Bluetooth stack.
Ah that explains why my bluetooth isnt working anymore, well Navigation is more useful then bluetooth for me.

Do this and both bluetooth and tomtom will work.
i didn't have a problem with tomtom 7 installing on the htc touch 2 aka mega.
I even got it working with my external gps. so bluetooth doesn't stop working with my cellphone. I will try tomtom 7 + bluetooth external GPS + Bluetooth earphone this evening to test if even that will work
After installing TT7 just delete these 2 files BtSdkCE30.dll & BtCoreIf.dll from Windows directory. Bluetooth stack will work again

You can make the visual map screen bigger by selecting less elements in the statusbar....I use only remaining distance, arrival time and speed.....
Also the colorscheme you use makes quite a difference in visibility...can recommend you "default contrast" for the day and Vapno for the night. Via TomTom website many many schemes available.

The Tomtom web site says that the Touch 2 is compatible with Navigator 7 but when I tried to install the software it said my device was incompatible with the version of software. Strangely, given that Navigator 7 is supposed to be new, the newest “modified” date of any of the software on the memory card is June 2009, more than a year ago.
I logged a question with Tomtom support after logging into my account on their web site. After asking me to send them a copy of my invoice for purchasing Navigator 7 they said there was a software update ttn7.zip which I could download from the web site. The support response was very prompt – less than half an hour – but their installation instructions were poor and it took several rounds of questioning to figure out what actually had to be done.
I had copied the contents of the Tomtom memory card on to my own card. The correct instructions for the update are as follows:
- with ttn7.zip downloaded from Tomtom and on the PC, click on it in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- This is a folder called ttn7. Click on it again in Windows Explorer to display the contents.
- You will see two items – start.exe and a folder called “2577”
- Delete the existing folder “2577” on the memory card (which had been copied from the Tomtom memory card earlier
- copy the new “2577” folder from the Tomtom download on to the memory card so it takes the place of the old “2577”
- there is no need to copy start, exe as a version with the same date is on the memory card
- With the Touch 2 off, load the memory card
- Power the Touch 2 on.
- During the power up process the Tomtom software will auto-install
- Worryingly my Touch 2 gave the same old warning message that the device is incompatible with the version of the Navigator but the installation process ignored this and carried on.
- Tomtom will prompt for the usual installation questions including the activation code that came on a sheet of paper with the memory card
- From now on it’s a case of answering the questions and configuring the various options to taste. Navigator 7 seems to work fine although I haven’t taken it out in the car yet.
