Wifi on after soft reset on Xperia - XPERIA X1 General

Lately my Xperia Comm Manager shows Wifi as on after I soft reset it. Maybe I didn't notice before but I think(!) it did not use to do this. I'm on the R2A ROM....not sure whether this is when it started. I don't think wireless is actually on so it's more like a cosmetic bug.
Does anyone else get this?
Cheers

Hello, I have the same problem, wifi is on after a soft reset or after a normal power off - power on. If you go in the Comm. Manager, it's really turned on.
I have noticed this but I am not sure it's related to firmware (I have generic french R2A008) or related to the install of Bluefire VPN Mobile client .
I'll try to test uninstalling and reinstalling VPN client on monday @ work to test this.

Ok, no need to wait for monday, I could find the credentials to reinstall my VPN access, so I have the answer : this problem is a bug due to the Bluefire VPN client on my X1. If I remove the VPN client, I don't have anymore this problem.

wifi help, yes again i know...

i read pages of threads on this forum, but im not getting nowhere fast!
I'll start at the begining, mda t-mobile original rom, working as it should, upgraded the rom several diff ones and not working, tryed the origainal rom and not working!
rom now on the mda,
ROM version 2.8.7.1WWE
radio version 01.13.10
protocal version 4.0.13.24
ExtROM version 2.8.7.101
ive intsalled DJVW WLAN 302.11g Activator 1.0.cab
Now the problem, when the wifis switched on it takes awhile to even detect the network, my old ipaq would be conected as soon as switched on?
when it does detect the network it trys to conect for about 2mins then gives up ( in same room as router )
it wont conect but i can see the mda has downloaded about 20kbs of info, but can get no further?
Am i missing something here?
Also where do you go to check you have the latest drivers, updates, newest rom etc
Thanks for taking the time to read this
Hello,
I have found that i am having similiar problems with Wifi after updating to the latest qtek 9100 ship ROM on my qtek 9100 device.
the device can "see" the WIFI but it will not/connot "use" it.
Ya same here. I can turn on the wifi but it doesnt connect anymore ! I know fopr sure that there are at least 4 wifi connections around me normally but I dont see any of them !
I had this problem but was able to fix it by giving my router my DNS settings (that I got from my ISP).
For some reason, certian routers will not serve the MDA with any sites unless it has the IP address of your ISP's DNS server.
This should take care of your problem.
If this doesn't work, go to your public library and see if you can get on their wifi. This will help you troubleshoot to see if there's actually a hardware problem.
Actually the problem i had is unusual in that i could connect to any open WIFI zone aswell as our work and home one, BUT it will not carry any traffic AT ALL. Only uses GPRS NO wifi.
I actually hard reset the device yesterday and ensured that Push email was switched off - WIFI is functioning fine now.
There is still one problem. When i cannot the device to my PC for an active sync. It will sync with the PC but throw an error when trying to sync with exchange server via the WIFI.
The error on the PC active sync is
"The server could not be reached. This can be caused by temporary network conditions
SUpport code:85002003"
It also throws an error on the device.
This is a right pain and did not happen on the previous version of the ROM. It means i have to do a seperate exchange server sync when disconnected from the PC. ANyone have ideas on how to fix this.
Incidently, another thing I have noticed with the NEw ROM is that contact lookup is noticeably slower - sometimes I have to wait for a few seconds
before the contact i am searching for actually comes up. This is in comparison to the immediate results of searches in my old ROM.
Jass
right ive reload a rom, and the wifi works, then after adding each of my aplications, ive tested the wifi conection, i found wififofum being the problem.
now i know the developer of wififofum has an wizard himself , that runs this aplication no problems, ut on mine it seems to just freeze the wifi, giving a rssi signal of 90 no matter how close or far im from the source?

WIfi - DHCP - WPA-PSK issue

Hi,
My wizard connects to my home-network via wifi secured with wpa-psk key and should receive an IP by DHCP.
This works fine but I noticed lately that sometimes after a while (let say half a day) no IP address is being assigned anymore when I connect.
Renewing the IP address has no effect either.
The only thing that works is a soft-reset.
Since it used to work fine I'm afraid that one of the packages I installed is the cause of this.
Now I was wondering whether someone has had the same problem and figured out which tool caused the problem for him.
Thanks in advance
I did had the same problem.
It was solved if I changed the slider to full power on the kjam.
Maybe it solves your problem?
that did not work for me anyone else please...
I don't have a solution, but I do have the same problem. I went a step farther than you: I disabled DHCP and use a fixed IP, but even then I still have to soft reset almost every time I want to use my wifi network. I have to hard reset for other reasons, I will keep you posted if it solves the problem
I had a problem like that, I disabled QoS on my router and now it works every time
I tried to fix it by clearing double entries with memmaid but that didn't work either.
Has anyone found the root cause yet?
after more than a month stuggling with this I still don't have a solution for this.
Anyone else found the problem?

WI-FI network adapter disappered

I installed AnthaVPN but it was causing my wifi to stuck every second time, so I uninstalled and now my wifi doesn't work at all. actually my wifi adapter seems not to be present anymore and the self diagnostic gives fail on wlan module test. I have seen that in the registry anthavpn is still present in many places and also in network adapter I can still se AnthaVPN wireless adapter.
Please help me to get my wifi back.
Next time, do a google search for your app BEFORE you install it.
http://www.aximsite.com/boards/showthread.php?t=107949 - people trying to get rid of AnthaVPN.
About the only thing you can do now is a hard reset, since Antha seems to have successfully hijacked your wifi stack. Hard resetting should bring the device back to factory condition, which means NO AnthaVPN reg entries.
The alternative is reinstalling Antha so that your wifi stack will work again. <_<
I confirm unfortunately!
Only way to get rid of Antha VPN has been hard reset. Really a bad experience with that piece of software!

VPN over GPRS/3G

Hi there,
I have a serious problem which I need to solve because it is crucial.
I've used VPN for very long time without any problem with my Trinity.
Few days ago I tried to connect my VPN and the phone just continue to dial forever. The connections application in Settings became inresponsive i.e. I was unable to cancel the dial. After several soft resets and many swears I found that the GPRS/3G/HSDPA connection work perfect and the problem is not the network. I test the VPN with my PC and it worked too. I've deleted the settings from the connections panel and from the registry itself and recreated it all again. No luck at all.
I've totaled my options ... so I'm asking anyone willing to help with this issue.
No specific network applications are currently installed on my device except WMWifiRouter. I've tried Hamachi but it is now uninstalled. The VPN was working perfectly with or without WMWifiRouter & Hamachi. I'm sure of it.
I have a similar Problem, try this: delete all your WiFi Settings and reboot then the VPN over GPRS will probably work, till you connect to any WiFi next time..... I am also stuck in the next here.
I hard reset several times while it start working again.
The problem was not the wifi because after first few HR (they delete everything) the VPN was still not working.
This was a mystery for me.
P.S. It seems that this OS was written in the breaks between classes by retarded students. Although it has no real alternative for the moment.

Can't connect to WiFi using Touch HD

Hi everyone.
First off, I know there are a million and one other threads.. believe me.. I have searched!
Basically my phone won't connect to my network. It was working fine earlier today. I've tried changing all the security settings in my router (turning off encryption for example). I've tried soft resetting and hard resetting the phone.
Nothing seems to be working. It finds the network fine, but it just says 'Connecting' then goes to 'Available' but it won't use the wifi connection.
Any ideas?
Thanks!
Have you tried connecting your device using a friends wifi router to see if this connect you
Nope. I forgot to add that I will try connecting to work's WiFi tomorrow!
Anything to try in the mean time?
Try these:
1) disable frame bursting
2) disable big packets and other methods of wifi speeding
3) force 11b
4) use WPA-PSK TKIP only
5) check if you have MAC or other access filtering
than let us know

1) Can't see any settings under my router.
2) Tried disabling gnitro (Belkin router), no difference.
3) No difference
4) Already on that.
5) Turned off.
It's so odd. Works fine with an N95.
I don't think it's anything to do with my router because like I said it worked fine earlier on in the day then suddenly stopped. The router settings hadn't changed.
Edit: I've tried turning the router security off altogether also. I really don't feel it's an issue with my router.
Tested the phone at work. It works fine.. so I don't have a clue why it's not working at home? Surely the router can't be incompatible with the phone.. especially considering it worked at one point.
Very weird! I got fed up with my router so decided to restore the factory defaults and start from scratch.. worked straight away! So I restored the settings back to exactly how they were before (using a backup file I made).. and it worked!
Just posting incase it happens to anyone else anyway.

Maybe uve tried this already but could be the fact that your home internet access point is listed as Work rather than internet, used to have an issue with mine cause of that.
I also have this problem.
Reset did not help.
Listed as internet or work did not help in both cases.
Real weird!!
I've got the same problem, all of a sudden my hd won't connect to my router.
I can connect to open networks (wi-fi hotspots etc) so i know the wifi in the phone is working ok and my partners diamond can connect ok to my router, so the router is obviously ok.
Have reset the router as well and haven't changed any settings on the phone.
Don't understand!!!!
as other users point out within other threads, it seems that Blackstone has a problem connecting to wifi networks when WPA Authentification is enabled
try to disable it. it worked for me and soem other guys
good luck!
I could connect to my router fine using my laptop.. but I still had to reset my router to the factory settings before it worked again on my Touch HD.. then I could enable WPA and everything back again. So try that!
i thought i had a similiar problem, mine wouldnt connect to wifi, kept switching itself off. figured this is normal when its connected to usb. unplug usb and it turns back on!
I own an HTC Touch HD since January and have a similar problem, only it surfaced last week. Before I had only used the WiFi connectivity briefly. The problems started after I installed an AP on my house expressively for the new PDA. The node is fully open and set to B/G/N protocols.
After a couple days of medium (couple hours per day) use the WiFi connection suddenly quit, the device would try to connect (the top bar showing the WiFi connection animation continuously) and after a few moments gave up with a dialog box stating the current network settings were wrong (even thou they worked fine a few hours earlier).
I tried several hot and cold resets, but only solved the problem after flashing a new ROM; even then the same symptoms reappeared after a couple of days of regular use. Again no re-setting would cure the problem, and now not even flashing the ROM again would work. Nonetheless, some hours latter the WiFi would connect perfectly with the same nodes it refused to before, and in very short time.
I have witnessed this cycle twice and have yet not been able to find a trigger for it, but will keep my eyes open for any tell tale signs, and post any findings here.
Hi
I used to have problem using any secure wireless connection. Then I realized that you need a personal certificate to use secure wireless networks. It uses certificate to encrypt connection between access point. I have access to a windows certificate server so I created a personal certificate with private key and import it to my mobile. Now I can login to any secure wireless network.
A solution has been posted for data connection problems. Can be found here
This may help, may not. Let me know

That solution doesn't seem to work for this problem.
Resetting the router does seem to work.
I don't get why resetting the router works.... other devices can still connect no problems before resetting, so it only seems to be aproblem with the hd.
It also sux when you are using a public router with this problem that you can't reset.
Connecting to Belkin router
Guys, I had the same problem as well. HTC touch HD used to connect to the router fine but after installing an update/upgrade it would pick the signal from the router but would not connect. (I was using WEP authentication at this time)
SOLUTION:
Go to belkin router configuration on the web.
Under security change the Securtiy Mode to WPA/WPA2-Personal(PSK)
Change authentication to WPA-PSK
Select Encryption to TKIP and enter your password.
GO to your HTC touch HD's WiFi setting and turn Wifi ON. Select your home network SSID and edit it using the information you used on the router i.e. WPA-PSK ; TKIP, enter your key/password and click next, next and finish.
Worked for me....hope it helps.
WIFI not connecting
That truly is extremly nasty.
I have the same issue - wifi found, correct password (WEP, WPA all settings) but no successful connection.
Took an old HTC 3xxx - runs immediately.
I can not reset the router - there are too many users, they will kill me then.
So I installed an Access point (Sparklan WX 7800A) to play with.
Notebooks (HP, MSI and ASUS) have successful internet access, also the old HTC 3xxx.
But still the HTC HD does not connect.
Tried "WIFI Monster" - shows the wifi, but does not connect.
(But it deletes all wifi entries easily - so you can set them up new)
Tried with NO security/password: same issue.
WEP, WPA (all kinds): no connection
There must be something to be changed in the registry - but I have no idea what & where.
Or is the wifi that useless ?????
Maybe someone can help
Ciao
Mike
I had the same problem. But the problem stopped when i connect my htc HD to my laptop and used activesync to connect to internet. After i disconnected it, open wifi and... works ok!!
