unreliable alarm! - XPERIA X1 General

ok so i set my alarm for 7:00am this morning and it just didnt go off...luckily my mum woke me up anyway but still its very unreliable...anyone else had this issue? maybe its linked to my sms message problem? thanks

the alarm on my X1i has been working flawlessly and waking me up every day at the specified time of 7am...i wish mine didn't work so i wouldn't have to wake up that early!

Be sure to have "Let Alarmsignal ring, even if the device is turned on silent or vibrate only" (i dont know what the official text is but im just losely translating from english.
You should find this option with the Clock and Alarmsignal settings under the Tab More.
Also i suggest setting 2 or 3 alarms.. maybe that will help.. ;P

Mine too, some times it simply doesn't go off (specially if more than one alarm are set).
i wake up before it has to anyway but it's still annoying!
and no, that option doesn't help at all, i tried it.

I'm using the free G-Alarm since October last year and it reliably woke me up every morning.
Maybe you want to try it: www.ageye.de

use G alarm

been using G alarm. no problem.

G Alarm has already failed me twice... helping me get late for work!
I really like it but if i have a real important apointment i use another cell phone with another alarm, i simply can't rely on any of the X1's alarm system alone...

Sorry to say that, but it seems to be your fault then.
G-Alarm works reliable and fine.
Just be sure the alarm is set active and at the right days and the ringtone is available and set to 100% volume.
Also let G-Alarm fix the Windows Mobile Alarm Bug and force to put the sound through the speaker even if the phone's set to silent or vibrate only.

Did you tell it to ring EVERY DAY? I forget this every "first" time on a new phone and the alarm dows not work. It only rings when you tell it to do.

I knew it wasn't just me!
Sometimes it will go off fine
Sometimes it will just vibrate and then do nothing else
Other times it won't go off at all
I can't seem to find a pattern to it, it just seems completely temperamental and is far to unreliable.
As for g-alarm that's far too annoying. It went off while my phone was on silent on a train. Had loads of puzzles and mazes and doesn't stop ringing until you have done them. I pulled out the battery, turned it back on and the alarm went off before the phone had even booted up!

sometimes this problem occurred for me with the custom roms being developed but with the original and the r2a roms I have not had an issue

yep, done all that and i have wm all fine tuned, and as i said, only failed twice over a month or so on a week day configuration with no changes made to it, but enough for me to not fully trust it anymore, be it problem with G Alarm or windows problem...

You can turn those snooze games off , it's just if you want it to really wake you up . Anyway G-Alarm works well for me so far. With the standard I had issuses, even on my older Magician. This one period it only sounded this ding sound repeatadly and refused to play the sound file which of course was in place. Weird stuff, but G-Alarm is awesome, it even allows you to set random MP3s from a playlist you set up. Waking up with a different DnB tune every day

Yes i have a feeling ill have the same issue as Elusivo...no alarm whether it be the standard or g-alarm will be 100% reliable on my X1. Glad i'm not alone but quite annoyed because that is one of my most important things...this along with text messages not always sounding or being displayed until messinging is opened up makes the phone a little difficult to love sometimes.
To me it seems everyone's X1 is slightly different....some have physical issues like cracking etc, whilst others have things that don't work as well as someone elses X1. I find it very strange. I guess these are my issues!

yes, exactelly
as far as i remember, i also faced this on my SE P910i, also same problem!
i barely sleep, and if the phone only vibrates i wake up, but mostly it doesnt!
i will try GAlarm, let's see.

+1 for G-alarm here.
I tried several different progs before settling with G.
I cannot think of an instance where it has let me down, without it being my own stupid fault.
As said before, you can switch off the mazes and puzzles, and just use it as a standard alarm, with/without snooze.
Best piece of freeware i have got, i think.
Why does WinMo standard alarm suck so badly?
Have MS forgotten to update it all this time?

Alarm
You have any idea how i can add in me xperia more alarm tone.?

I have never had any problems with the alarms. They are right on time.

i tried mine set for this morning. no problems yet. ill test it a whole week or so and see how it goes.
standard nam rom for my x1a.

I gave up on the built-in alarm and I've been using SPB Time which I'm very happy with!

Quiet Time

Any way to setup a time (sleep window/quiet time) where all notification sounds will be muted? Let's say between midnight and 6am.
Ideally I would like to mute email alerts / notification alerts during this time, but keep the ringer available in case there was a call.
I'm looking for a solution to getting email alerts at 3am.
Thanks!
I had this same annoyance.
I'd recommend you check out PhoneAlarm. Lets you set exactly this sort of thing. Now my phone goes into mute mode at 121pm and back to normal at 6:45am. It also lets you have a very handy visual guide to SMS/MMS/Missed Calls/Voice Mails/Emails and more.
Not free but well worth it IMHO.
Edit: Oh yeah, and you can choose to individually mute certain alarms and not other, exactly as you want.
tyvm - I was hoping for maybe something a little less complex.. simple profile with a timer would be perfect. The phone doesn't have any built in 'profile' functionality.. pretty lame.
If you have memmaid or some other way to put in a schedule timer everyday, you could try using the Phone Profile here. I find it to be not working well with my Charmer (WM5), so I've stopped using it. Can't remmeber what's the problem.
There is also a pocketPhoneZen, which I've tried the older version, but doesn't work well with WM5 too. Perhaps the latest version will be alright. Let me know.

PhoneAlarm rocks.
It will do just what you are asking for and more.
I personally can't live without it.
Only problem with phonealarm is that it absolutely kills your battery! I installed it (primarily for the location-based profiles*) but found my battery died overnight and ended up having to do the 'scissors + USB cable' manual battery charge malarky.
* Was a great idea, but failed miserably when it turned out that my home and office are both on the same cell.

Help Me, alarms are driving me absolutely nuts!!!!

Hi guys, please help save my sanity, I use my T-Mobile MDA as my alarm clock in the mornings and have done so since I got it on Ebay about 4 months ago.
The problems started this morning though, when the alarm activated it didn't give me the option to cancel with the left soft key or snooze with the right soft key - it just kept going....and going....and going!!!!! Even after a soft reset.....so I turned it off and removed the battery, refitted the battery and turned it on and the alarm started to go again... and again... and again I managed to stop it after a while but I dont know how because I'd restarted it and soft started it and switched off the alarms so many times I lost track of what I did!
Then this afternoon when I disconnected the MDA from my PC at work it locked out (it does this quite frequently - a different problem but still annoying though) I normally fix this by carrying out a soft reset, which I did....then the bloody alarm thing started all over again EVEN THOUGH THE ALARMS WERE ALL DISABLED, 45 minutes of mucking about again and now it has finally stopped again....please please please can anyone suggest how I fix this cos if I can't the phones going in the bin - I mean the unit is a useful little business tool but its got lots of problems that make it a pain in the as* sometimes. I dont know what software its running or anaything like that cos I'm not sure where to get these details - sorry.
Many many many thanks in advance.

use clear_notify.exe and remove duplicates of "clock" events.
or
check_notifications.exe
Try to use SPB Time http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/time/?en , they did have few bugs with their alrm system, but in this new version they have rectified all the bugs, and it is really working fine, keep it in mind that once u use any other software for alarm then DO NOT use the basic windows alarm. SPB Time has also got a nice ScreenSaver functionality with your own picture support.
GoodLuck

No problem - i have tried a few alarms and they all use the same notification system for setting up an alarm so i do not think one has any benefit from another in terms of reliability (although you will always have diff people swaring by their paricular alarm) but diff ones have extra features - eg. play mp3, wma's etc...
IMHO you can have a reliable alarm by
1. Keeping the notification queue clean - i feel these errors occur when the NQ becomes large/corrupt
2. If it is for a morning alarm - plug your device into the mains and do not let it go into standby - this will give you a reliable alarm.

Problem with one alarm going off twice.

Hi everybody
I've got a small problem with my HTC TyTN. I've got an alarm set for
07:03am every mon,tue,wed,thur,fri.
Wednesday about 3 weeks ago that alarm went off twice at the same time, the wav sound that is set to the alarm goes off and is heard with a echo.
And i had to close the alarm twice on the screen.
Thinking it was a onetime-thing i didn't care that much.
But on the thursday after the same thing happend again. I then removed the alarm completely and set a new time (07:05) with one of the other alarm check-boxes.
Strange thing, now i get a double-alarm at 07:03 mon-fri, and a single working just fine at 07:05. Even tough there is no alarm set at 07:03 anymore.
I've rebooted the phone, with all alarms off.
Still the double-alarm is there. I've managed to live with it for 3 weeks now, but it's getting a bit too much now
I do not wish to do a factory-reset. Are there any registers that could have been f-ckup?
If so, what can i do and how?
Any points, tips, tricks are welcome.
Thank you.
We need some info dude, what apps have you installed and also what format is the sound file in, also where is it? (SD card or device memory).
Update your signature with the details of your device (rom version, radio version etc... and also update your profile with your provider and country...it helps to have them in your sig so we can diagnose anything a bit quicker )

This problem has been written about many times and from many different angles. They all point to clearing your "notifications" queue that can accumulate all kinds of duplicates and junk causing alarms to go off twice, not stop going off and no notification to pop up etc etc:
To do this use:
Scarybear - Freeware
Or
SKtools - not freeware
Or
Memmaid - not freeware
These links will give you links to the above applications.

mrvanx : Thank you for your input, i'm quite new at this game as you might see by my post-count. I'm working on the signature now. Thank you for your input.
mikechannon : Thank you, i'm going to try Scarybear first to see that it solves the problem, then i'll look into purchasing one of the others.
Thank you all for your help.
be careful, very careful.
scary bear is to good, you can delete or change stuff you shouldnt, and never get it back.
i tried and failed. hard reset to fix.... it starts to happen i find when you soft reset a device when notifications are happening, and thus duplicates the original and a new one.
I tried out a few, and found that TaskMgr2.7 was perfect for me.
Scarybear, well i never even got working
But thank you for the warning.

Crazy Triny - alarm malfunction?

Since three weeks my alarm function doesn´t work right. My Triny should ring at 6:25pm but does it one hour later. Watch this:
What is going on here?
Elwood
Check your Clock&Alarms Settings. Perhaps you have switched to the Visiting-Time?
or changed some regional code setting?
Yes, I switched to the visitors time, because I live for a half year in Australia. Nevertheless this has worked for one month now and then suddenly occurred problems. When I activate the visitors time, then the alarm should also ring according to this time?!
As you can see in the picture, he really rings at 7:25 and informs me with the screen "6:25 alarm".
I forgot the worst issue: Sometimes the alarm doesn´t appear at all, even though I configured all settings well!

Can't silence alarm

I've experienced about a dozen instances over the past month and a half when the HTC alarm goes off at the specified time but I'm unable to dismiss/silence it. It has been only an intermittent problem and I've yet understand the exact conditions that cause this to occur or been able to reproduce it under controlled conditions. In any case it is quite annoying as I'm forced to completely power off the phone just to make the alarm stop (not fun when you're just trying to hit snooze for an extra ten minutes). I've experienced the issue from both the "alarms" and "timer" feature of the HTC clock. I do use a task manager, but have Clock on its ignore list and don't notice anything on the auto-kill list that would be related.
Has anyone else experienced this or have any insights? I'll keep ya posted if I discover what conditions are causing this.
Thanks,
Darren
Happened to me as well, i hit dismiss and the window went away but the alarm noise kept playing and wouldnt stop... so then i opened up task killer and killed off the clock task and it still kept playing! even with no programs running! had to turn it completely off to stop
I had the same happen. Still have yet to figure out why .
Sent from my HTC Incredible using Tapatalk
same thing happened to me. i received a text while the alarm was sounding, but when i closed handcent i couldn't turn the alarm off.
Interesting to hear the problem isn't limited to my device. For what its worth, I submitted a report to HTC; we'll see if they give any useful response.
Actually experienced the problem again this morning. It was interesting in that I had just powered-on the phone immediately before going to bed, so the issue seems to be unrelated to anything I'm manually running on the phone. Spent a few minutes in task manager seeing if I could kill the sound but with no luck; decided for the sake of my roommate that I'd just power off and work on it at a more convenient time.
Will let you know if HTC says anything, although with the new senseless rom's coming out this will likely become a non-issue for me.
Its a known issue. I started a thread about this the week the phone was released. It happens when anything comes up at the same time as the alarm such as texts or other alerts. I had it happen where an alarm was sounding then a calendar even came up and both got stuck. Its a Sense UI issue. Good thing that's a thing of the past. Getting rid of Sense this weekend and flashing a new ROM
