bluetooth active sync - Touch HD General

I had alot of probs with my old atom doing this. I have a dell xps running xp3 and I just cant activesync over bluetooth. Running duttys rom VERY GOOD. The process fails because the pda doesn,t appear to have the correct services.

Having same problem brother. See my thread here for details. I can get AS working using Widcomm drivers but no way with the built in Windows XP SP2/SP3 BT stack. Since Widcomm drivers are interfering with some of my other drivers in my computer, Widcomm is a no-go for me neither If you find a solution how to make BT ActiveSync work with default windows BT stack under XP, please share! I would appreciate it very-very much

More info
I have done a bit more investigating. Tried it on two other computers and realise that bt is flaky.
Well it apears that the touch is not offering up active sync as a service. HAs any body tried this on stock rom. It would be really nice to put this one to bed. I feel that its definatley the phone. Blue tooth is great when it works. I have hands free kit in car and on the old atom it would only link from phone but with the new one it only links from kit. battery indicator doesnt work and if you transferr phone numbers the phone sends them to quickly for the kit to copy every one so it leaves of every other one and then some at the end. Heres the solution go and stand behing a tree away from the car which slows every thing down and makes it work. I call it my Treepatch.exe

I do have a stock ROM v1.14.401.2 WWE (1.09.25.14 radio) and my PC (using default windows BT stack and Windows XP) does not recognize neither ActiveSync, nor DUN BT services. However it DOES RECOGNIZE under Windows Vista. I'd say Windows XP BT drivers are either outdated or somehow not compatible or missing something... just my 2 cents
EDIT: And yes, I have the same problem with the battery indicator when connected to my car's bluetooth handsfree kit

and i can't get it to work with vista, but it works flawlessly with Windows 7 Beta (64-bit). simply amazing...

Is it really xp
I kept feeling that it was the phone but if its xp can we get a new stack i need to look. I really would like to move this post up so that we can get a definative answer and then maybe a solution. How do yo move post up?

problem solved
Uninstalled bt drivers on laptop and installed stock ms drivers. Had to restart a couple of times. searched for phone tried to set up com. Still no good restarted again and then suddenly the machine actually started the active sync saying do,t waste batteries and euraca its done. So stock drivers seem to be best. I say give it a go.

Would you be little-bit more specific ? What BT drivers have you uninstalled from your laptop ? Toshiba ? Widcomm ? And what do you mean by stock MS drivers ? How did you install them ? Would you mind post a step-by-step procedure you've done ?
Also you're claiming your problem is solved. Would you please double click on the BT icon in the system tray next to clock, go to Devices tab, double click on your paired phone icon and then Services tab. Would you post a screenshot similar to this one to see what you have in there ?
Many thanks in advance!
Regards,
S.

heres how i did it.
Sorry I do not know how to do a screen grab?.
First I uninstalled the supplied bt drivers which were widdcomms and I unistalled the widdcomm software from settings-install software. I am affraid I do not know what release. Next I restarted and made sure the phone was unpaired and cleared of link data. Next i restarted and in system-hardware i scanned for hardware changes. When xp asked to visit the web to download drivers i said NO. I guess that forced it to use the stock xp drivers. Restarted machine at prompt.
When the machine restarted blue tooth icon was on task bar. Looks slightly different to widcomms. I linked the phone via this bluetooth icon. I also set up a com link. This was all most slower than the old widdcomms system?
I then made a cup of green tea. When I came back I restarted the machine again and went into the phone-activesync-sync by bluetooth.
It then did just that. I did not set up com on phone. When I switched on laptop this morning I sync again and it worked.
The xp bt doesn't have all the bells and whistles of the widcomm but it works.
The widcomm program/drivers just could not be confinced that the phone was capable of activesync it would not show it as a service.
I hope this helps.

I have my HD connected to XP sp 3 with no issues.
I have a broadcomm modem, 2.2.14.241 firmware version.
It has been a while since I set it up so it will be hard to offers the details on how.
Just figured that I would post to let everyone know it works and I have full access to all of the files on the device.

Bluetooth PC App Installation Problems

mates,
having some issues with the bluetooth function in my laptop and i'd appreciate it if anyone can give me some tips on what to do.
i bought a difusi bluetooth dongle (via usb), installed the software and everything worked fine. activesync was working great, remote display, pocket tablet, etc...in other words all apps using bluetooth worked flawlessly.
last week my laptop was reformatted; it was already using windows xp but we had to have it reformatted to accomodate a new software to be used in the office. anyway, so i reinstalled all the apps i use like audiograbber, etc, and of course difusi bluetooth.
strange; a window kept popping up saying something about the windows xp logo compatibility; which could explain why the app wouldn't work properly?? sure i was able to install bluetooth; but i can't seem to get activesync working anymore. aside from this; the guide for bonding the xda2 and the laptop shows that the first window to configure is "my bluetooth places"...i can't access this anymore. clicking on the icon on my desktop; nothing happens.
i searched around the internet and came upon an article saying that you needed the windows xp service pack 2 (sp2). did that via windows updates; removed the bluetooth software, reboot, reinstall and still the app doesn't work right.
any tips would be much appreciated.
cheers
robson
almost solved
okay, after extensive research and web searching both in the forum and the internet; i finally found out what was wrong with my windows xp. apparently after my laptop was reformatted i'm now using windows xp sp2. i've been reading a lot of posts and apparently sp2 isn't as good; the recommendation was to go back to sp1. which i did; and finally i was able to access "my bluetooth places". everything is okay so far; the screens that i wanted to see came up.
however; my problem now lies in the com ports. i followed the guide in syncing the xda with the laptop; the first part is to take note of the port corresponding to the bluetooth serial port. fair enough. the next one is to configure activesync so that both of them will have the same com ports.
now here's where my problem starts. the bluetooth configuration shows that the com port used is 15; while that of activesync only uses com port 1 or 3.
my questions is; how do i change either com ports from either applications so that i can match them?? i've been trying but so far the drop down menus for com ports doesn't allow much.
cheers

Wizard and 3rd party BT

Hey all,
I have some generic BT dongle for my computer that I bought a year or so ago to use with my old HTC Typhoon. The dongle allowed my phone at the time to ActiveSync over BT using the BluSoleil software that came with the dongle. However, with the HTC Wizard (MDA vario body with the AKU 3.3), I cannot for the life of me sync over BT. I have no idea what I need to set up and every time I try and do a new "partnership" in the phone for syncing over BT - i select my computer in the devices, yet nothing happens. I cannot establish any COM port communication with the computer and the only type of services that i can push are the vCard from the computer and a "personal area network"...
HOWEVER, if I take my Wizard and connect it to my Thinkpad T60 laptop that has native BT; I can sync to my hearts content... so... someone please give me a clue as to wtf I am supposed to do here to get this to work over BT
Thanks!!!
Anyone? Plweeze?
C'mon, someone must have an idea!
Gave up
I had the same dongle, or at least mine also came with Blue Soleil. I hated that software - it runs a dozen different programs that clog the computer and still doesn't connect properly. I took it off and tried the native MS XP software. It would work once, but when I put the PC to sleep I would have to reboot to get it to connect again. I finally realized that it was much easier to use a cable and gave up. I'll try again when I get a PC with built-in bluetooth.

WMDC and 8125

I cannot seem to get my 8125 to sync with windows mobile device center in Vista. I have tried both bluetooth and usb cable, and I have turned off Windows Firewall.
When I connected it via the cable, the only thing that installed and appeared my device manager was a Smartphone USB Sync under mobile devices. I have read other people are getting a windows mobile device under portable devices, among other things.
When I try connecting via bluetooth, Activesync just does not show up when I pair my phone and my computer as a service.
Are there drivers I can get from somewhere, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be greatly appriciated.
Thanks!
You have to update the WMDC in vista inorder to sync. Had the same problem me self.. kinda crazy if u ask me eh...
I know it has been a long time but I have wmdc 6.1 and an 8125 with the most recent HTC cingular rom. How do I get bluetooth sync working? My activesync on my phone says that the service is not installed and I am kind of stuck there.
A ton of google searches have illicited no help. I figurd I would try here...
I am paired properly with the laptop as I am able to use the modem as DUN and get internet working with no problems. I cant seem to get the device center to recognize the phone for syncing my outlook with bluetooth.
Same boat
I am right there with you man. I have tried everything and still no joy. I am going to try and up date my bluetooth software and try it out. I'll let you know if it works for me.
I did it!!
Ok the key is to use the same Comm port in WMDC that the wizard uses. For example try to set up a bluetooth partnership with your PC via your wizard. When you see a popup on your desktop that you wizard is trying to connect make a not on which Comm port it is trying to use. (for me it was COM4.) from there go into your setting in WMDC and check the second box to allow the wizard to use differant ports. Select your port and click ok. You should be good to go. Let me know if that did or didn't work for you. Best of luck!

Touch HD: Vista bluetooth driver issue

Hi,
Having my HD since a week, I am doing synchronisation with windows mobile on vista x64.
Everything is fine using the usb data cable but not using bluetooth.
The HD is recognized as I can see HTC50 but as soon vista starts, I am requested to provide a driver that I have found nowhere.
If I go in the vista device control panel, there is a bluetooth device not working properly as no driver available.
Contacted the HTC hotline, they told me they will call me back within 48 hours.
It was 5 days ago...
Anyone having the same problem or a solution?
Friend of mine with Vista64bit also had problems, and bought Bluesoleil 64bit for better profile support. You can testdrive it with 2mb limit.
http://dontknowme.at/http://www.bluesoleil.com/
Thanks Lucas but for me it is the job of HTC to have a smooth integration within an OS like vista.
If not I will sell this device and go for an iphone.

The problem is probably the driver on windows vista, so switching to another phone will not help much. Besides..."smooth integration within an OS like vista" and "iphone" you have got to be joking!!!

Please guys,
Could someone tells me he succeeds to synchronise the touch hd with a vista x64 through bluetooth?
The HTC support finally called me back asking to reinstall windows mobile 6.1 vista x64 but didn't work...
AFAIK this will not work with Vista. At least not with the Vista bluetooth stack.
I have the same problem you describe with my Wizard and my Diamond.
After switching to the Widcomm bluetooth stack I remember being able to synchronize my phones over BT.
I don't know exactly where the problem lies and if only HTC is to blame here.
I'm sorry, I can't give you a solution here.
Still, if you like to give it a try, go to

I sync my Hermes with my Vista 64bit.
But I don't know wich BT-Stack is installed.
My laptop is an Asus V1S.
HTC customer support line
Dont hold your breath waiting for them to get back to you, i waited two months to get a reply email asking me to call their helpline.
Absolutely useless!!!!!!!
yeah, same problem at my side......
I'm using IBM T61p, and the update from broadcom site doesnt work......
Yesterday I have come across something interesting.
I had to hard-reset my device and afterwards it would not be recognized in Windows Mobile Device Center when connecting via USB cable. I heard the sound from the Device Manager, so Vista knew the device was connected, but it wouldn't show up in WMDC.
So I reinstalled WMDC, but still no luck.
But - and here comes - I was able to pair my HD over bluetooth with my PC and Vista installed the bluetooth drivers for the phone! I am now able to synchronize over bluetooth!
Sadly synchronizing over USB cable does not work any more.
For all of you having trouble with WMDC and bluetooth, try reinstalling WMDC 6.1, maybe this helps.
Regards
K_Hismoom
I too could never get a connection initiated from WMDC to the HD, with standard Vista Bluetooth. Pairing the the Vista desktop pc with the HD never was a problem, but Activesync. Then I tried to start the sync from the HD - and it worked.
Go the the Settings tab in TouchFlo3D, and use the first tab "Sync data" (Daten synchronisieren in German), and the HD connected itself to the WMDC, via the Hama Nano bluetooth dongle using standard Vista drivers. Give it a try!
OK, finally I got it work successfully.
The way to connect HD with PC, have to from HD to PC, can't from PC to HD.
I'm doing steps as follow:
1. set your PC's bluetooth as discoverable.
2. at HD side, search PC with bluetooth
3. after that, pair HD with PC
4. open your active sync on the HD, and select connect with bluetooth
5. after connected, everything works
Now I can explore my HD on my PC, everything is OK.
I have the same issue. I keep getting a message on my vista pc that Windows cannot install the device driver for a bluetooth peripheral.....very annoying!!
i also have this problem (vista cant find drivers). i'm trying to get the beta sideshow app workinng.
any help would be great.
thanks
Touch HD driver problem
I am having some bluetooth problems too but not exactly as you describe. I have a Touch HD and have it syncing over bluetooth with my Lenovo laptop (Vista32) and my PC (Vista64) fine. However, everytime I connet the phone, Windows tries to install drivers for it but can't find them. The drivers seem to be bluetooth related because if I go into Bluetooth Devices and click the Touch HD and search services, either nothing is listed or sometimes just "telephony". So I can't use any of my phones bluetooth profiles like internet sharing.
I have a weird feeling that it has something to do with the Touch HD Hotfixes that HTC has released recently.
Has anyone out there been able to fix the issue?????
luketoms, I have exactly the same problem as yours with my HTC Touch Pro and vista x64. This related to bluetooth driver in my point of view.
I haven't found any solution for that.
Has anyone a clue ?
Thx
I share your problem too, luketoms & gbouille. Espescially annoying, since I have connected my HD before sucessfully, with Vista locating the right drivers from Windows Update, displaying it as a HTC Touch HD T8282. Independent from WMDC.
Now, it seems my HD and laptop are no longer friends.
Does it say 'Missing bluetooth peripheral device'? If it does, right click on the device for properties. Click on update driver OR
Go to device manager, you'll see an unknown device named bluetooth peripheral device. Double click it to open its properties
Click 're-install driver' on the second tab.
Click Browse my computer for driver software' button
Click 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'
There may be a list asking for device type, select 'bluetooth radios'
On the next page there will be a list of company names on the left side and a list of drivers on the right. In the company list choose 'Microsoft Corporation' ... not 'Microsoft'. Confirm selection is microsoft corporation.
On the drivers list there may be one or more driver versions for the mobile phone, select a newer version.
Click next, and ignore any warnings and keep pressing next
Then it shows successfully installed drivers
phabreel : it does indeed! Thankyou. Still, windows will not recognize the HD as a PAN compatible device when searching for it through the bluetooth wizard. And it has done just that before!

Bluetooth Peripheral Device (Other devices)

Hello.
When I plug in the HTC HD2 I got a new device in Windows 7 Ultimate - Bluetooth Peripheral Device with a yellow mark (code 28).
Windows mobile center is working.
Tested some typical actions (update drivers, uninstall, disable PAN, ...) without success.
Any idea?
Thanks.
SOLVED
Update drivers in device manager.
what make is your laptop/pc and what bluetooth stack do you have on your pc/laptop?
INFO
Sony Vaio VGX-TP3/Z (No bluetooth integrated)
External Bluetooth MSI Dongle (old)
I have exactly the same problem with my HD2 and Fujitsu Siemens Amilo with windows 7, built in bluetooth. (peripheral bluetooth device exclamation mark and error 28)
I tried the broadcom update but it wont install. I dont really know what bluetooth stack is on this laptop but I've been hunting around for a driver for a few days now but nothing seems to work.
Anyone any ideas how to get this paired succesfully?
Cheers
Try seaching ALL OF C:\ when looking for a driver
I've had the same issue, just browse for the driver yourself, and when you
can enter an location, enter c:\ and have it run for a few minutes.
For me, my comp. found the driver on my c:\ drive, even when auto-update and look for drivers on my computer failed.
Please report
Cheers. I'll give that a try tommorrow at work
Still cant get this to work.
Can anyone else help?
Cheers
Hi mates,
I had the same problem as you. But I don't think that driver is that important. But however I figured it out.
- First you have got to install the driver for your Bluetooth Device (either it's integrated or a seperate device)
- Then you go to Device Manager and double click on that yellow marked driver
- You go to Driver->Update Driver-> Browse My Computer for Driver Software-> Let me Pick From a List of Device Drivers on My Computer-> Mobile Devices->
- Then you find Microsoft Corporation and and install Windows Mobile-based Device ..... (something)
That will fix your problem...
And to activate the ActiveSync or HandFree or Stereo Sound (music playing through your PC's speakers, you go to Settings, in the righ corner Menu and then advanced. There you will have the Bluetooth Manager thingy.
You know the rest....
I have the same problem, I was following the guide above and when I chode the mobile devices there was no list of the manufacturers and the only option is to "Have a disc".
Any idea please ?
sorry misstyped - not "chode" but "chose".

I have 5 choices under Microsoft there: Windows Smartphone 2002 and 2003, Windows PocketPC 2002 and 2003, and Microsoft USB Sync. I tried PocketPC 2003 - no luck. Tried some other ones for fun, no luck. Tried HTC as manufacturer but all the drivers there are for USB Sync.
I have a Dell E6500/Dell Wireless 370 Bluetooth Mini-card, Windows 7 Pro.
Anyone have any other ideas? At this point, I just want to sync via Bluetooth...
I have the same issue. Can't get bluetooth to work on Windows 7, 64 bit. I get the same options as the reply above.
Tried the bluetooth.zip file in this thread but the computer does not recognize the files.
Haven't found anything on the HTC-website either.

Here's what I found: connect via bluetooth, ignore the missing driver warnings, and start the sync from ActiveSync on the phone. This seems to work for me...
Thanks! It solved my problem.

What are we meant to do with these files exactly? My computer doesn't recognise them.
I'm still having this problem too.
I've tried all suggestions including the one to select Microsoft Corporation for both the Mobile Devices and Bluetooth Radio categories. However, Microsoft Corporation is not listed as a manufacturer for either of those categories.
