Ok guys - since my Molski.biz 2.26.10.2 rom has a few bugs (like the volume-control slider not working), I decided to reinstall a new rom. Ive seen already tons of threads including thousands of posts so it`s difficult to find out which rom is the best.
I heard of Faria released a cooked WM6-Rom but I m not sure if it`s working fine with the wizard and if there are still some bugs. In addition to that i don`t know if there are any incompatabilites with WM5 applications.
I`ve also seen a WM5 Rom tons auf WM5 Roms - but which one is working realy fine?
Oh forgot that: I`ve a G4 Device but it`s already CID unlocked.
LOL!!!!!!!
I haven't tried them all but Crossbow Reloaded 1.7 has been working great for me.
A couple of people, myself included had a problem where the built in phone dialer disappeared, but I fixed that by installing the Iphone dialer (can be found here by searching).
First Post.....
Yes, I as my post count would suggest I am new to flashing roms and setting up 3rd party softwares on my Wizard but I must say after hanging out on this forum for a couple of weeks I now feel somewhat like a veteran.
I first flashed with crossbow reloaded 1.7.1 I liked it and didn't notice any major problems at all.
But I was so impressed by XDA Mobile 6 that i had to try it and must say after about a week using it (since it was released) I'm much more impressed, wizard seems faster, i love the interface and the post offers great insight into problems and finding what configurations work for everyone.
I would suggest you try a few roms till you find what suits you best, here is the link to XDA Mobile 6
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=310954&highlight=weather+panel
ok guys first i've installed core 2.0 what seems to work fine but, well u know, it's like a clean vanilla rom - too clean for me. So next i wanted Titanium but it's not released yet. After looking over the programs Faria delivers with his rom, i've decided not to have this much software and installed XDA Mobile 6. Seems to work fine and it looks nice.
Just one more question: where the heck is some difference to WM5? I mean everything looks like the same in WM6. Well ok, there is maybe a new skin, and some new tones, but in the end, i've could also use WM5 with wisbar and the Vista Skin.
For me it seems to be the same sh** like Windows XP and Vista - no real changes at all.
There's a page somewhere on Microsoft.com that details all of the new features in wm6 (Im sure if you do a google search for wm6 review you will find it). The most important one in my opinion is the ability to display HTML with in emails.
Will you please give your experience with win 6.5 build 11.
My experience:
Positives: Very cool: More storage
Negatives: Frequent crashes especially upon installation of new programs. Like I installed new version of spb keyboard, it crashed altogether and I had to hard reset.
It is more slower than 6.1.
i thought it was it was a kewl upgrade until i tried it .............
Its much slower than 6.1 not just a little but much slower, looks great but some of the options in the settings menu were missing that i was looking for but all in all i prefer the 6.1 over 6.5....which i loaded back a few mins ago(6.1)....cant wait for 7 next yr to see what tht has to offer but im assuming Viva's processor might its work cut out for it lolololol

Thanks for your reply!
Yes I am also of the same opinion. How can I go back to original ROM? Because we have changed the hard spl. I shall be thankful.
well, for me, it works great, except it doesnt have windows live and onenote mobile, i had to download it (except onenote cos i dont need it) on my own... speed is okay, not as fast as wm6.1, startup is slow, the new lock screen, honeycomb and titanium is cool, but the panel for email and text is EXTREMLY BUGGY (they show a X sign and nothing else), album and touchflo 2d seems to respond faster, theres a few bugs but they dont really show up much, the new touch engine (or watever the thing is called for the touch scrolling) is great, but theres touchflo scrolling which makes it really annoying (btw, is there any way to remove the scrolling? i changed the registry but its still there)... but for me, its okay for everyday use...
P.S according to the ORIGINAL POST ON PDAVIET, its based on the iolite rom(i think) and i DONT recommend you guys to upgrade to v12 but wait for v13, so in the meantime, use the v11 rom...

i too am trying to find a way... too bad theres no solution yet to change to original spl...
guys, when you say go back to the original rom, do you mean the version with 6.1? all you have to do is flash your viva again but using the
HTC OPAL ROM 6.1 V05 - Build 21014.1.6.0 version you can find in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494083
That rom is from PhamQuang too
its quite good enough,.. but sending message always notify me delivery report, and get load.... , i cant unchecked the box..
MOD! please move to Vogue Upgrading Forum!
I just installed 6.5, but I think I am going back to 6.1
CONS
MD2 is far superior in every way, especially when it comes to email, you can view headers and check multiple accounts quickly, it is much nicer too.
I hate the fact that I cant quickly access my recently used programs.
PROS
it feels a bit faster
Bottom Line
I really think that 6.5 is no big deal, just a bit of eye candy, its funny how microsoft paid big bucks for fashion designers to design some themes instead of investing a couple of thousand dollars for a decent UI expert, they never cease to amaze me with their stupidity.
it is a shame that everybody is going along with it, as if this is the next big thing, it is really a very small baby step. MD2 not to speak of MD3 are far superior in every way.
Have I missed something? What do you guys think?
Which version of 6.5 did you install? The one nfsfan cooked up has m2d in it and thats what iam using... 6.5 w/ m2d as the GUI... i have noticed everything on my phone seems much easier/faster to work. No way id go back to 6.1...

Really? I am gonna try this. Last time I tried 6.5, I did not see M2D
just try nfsfans v8 6.5 rom, if that isnt a good enough reason for you to keep 6.5, then you need to switch to a crackberry
yup... under the today options...uncheck the default and check touchflo...
I didnt like the 6.5 gui either and went straight back to m2d in the options. Just updated to v8 for 6.5 a few moments ago and the options are there... I believe nfsfan had it in is roms for the last few versions...

I use his rom, but MD2 is buggy in 6.5 (i tried v8 too)
I loved his ROM , it's best of both world, but i mainly use M2D , and also SPB Shell 3 , switch it back and forth.
I switched back to 6.1 simply because I hated 6.5's UI on the Today screen.

Buggy in which way? Can you eleborate?
I was using v6 r2 for almost two weeks and it was rock solid...then i switched over to v8 just the other day and again.... rock solid. If you find it "buggy" in his release you should make note of it so he can work on it and try and resolve those issues...
Personally it feels like m2d w6.1 but faster and more stable. Launching Garmin would take some time before hand, and now with 6.5, is 10x faster...
i dont particularly like the large icon start menu. is there anyway to change it to a smaller view of the icons?
I went back to 6.1.
Slingbox Mobile looks like ass using 6.5 unless I disabled both the 6.5 GUI and M2D. It's a big deal for me cause I use Sling a lot. Memory issues somewhere.
Other than that, I think 6.5 with M2D worked pretty good.

mine looks awesomee *_*
I don't know when you encountered that screen glitch, but I experienced a similar issue with NFSFAN's 6.5 rom after I changed themes. A soft reset always cleared up the problem for me.

What versions are you using?
Slingplayer mobile currently has these version that were just released
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Pocket PC 1.6.0.114 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Smartphone 1.6.0.62 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Palm OS 1.00.22 (US)
* Windows Mobile Downloads (UK)
As for an application not working correctly with a pre-release version of WinMO, thats hardly the Chefs fault as the Application might not have a version to even look at yet let alone develop for
What versions of WinMO 6.5 have you tried - different Chefs utilize different kitchens and different items and tweaks as well so without trying all of them you really dont know if one wouldnt work or all wouldnt
Up to you if you want the time to spend with it I dont use it as if I want to watch television, I watch it, if Im out and cant watch some show or event, well thats what bittorrent or hulu is for LOL

have to agree here - thats an incompatible version of some theme on that ROM
Have seen it a few times myself, not the ROM thats for sure as it didnt occur when you first flashed and used the device, just after something was installed

I tried searching and didn't find anything but is there any way to get the Titanium plugin from Windows Mobile 6.5 to work on Windows Mobile 6.1? Or the sliding panels that some smart phone have?
Sorry if this has been asked/answered elsewhere.

Well There is something similar to what you're asking but I believe you have to pay.
1.Bell UI is something similar
2.MyHome Interface is smartphone like panels
you have to pay for this software (unless you do it illegaly)
Hmm wow thanks. I'll try it out and see how it is thanks man .
ehhh id still rather have titanium but w/out an unstable 6.5 rom, which im considering. any reccomendations for the i910?
I'm sorry, but it's likely that nobody in this forum would be able to help you out. PPCGeeks has an Omnia forum, and I think there's an unofficial Omnia thread somewhere in General Discussion where you could ask your question.
I've had my TD2 for a few months now and notice that I can get the 6.5 updgrade from the HTS site but is it worth upgarading ? I'm happy with my phone as is - but find some of the sub menus tricky due to small icons etc.
Secondly whilst I've installed a few apps I'm wondering how easy and safe is it and will I lose all my apps. I use spb back up so will that allow me to re-install everything in 6.5?
Sorry for so many questions but dont want to brick my phone I'm no techie and just need some advice
Cheers guys
Well, let me put it this way.
I went from official 6.1, to official 6.5, then flashed a couple of cooked 6.5 roms and now im back to official 6.1 again.
And about your backup I have no clue sorry.
What apps are you referring to?
Some may be back'ed up, others cant.
As for the WM6.5 I think that it's way better than 6.1
Where can i get the official 6.1 rom?

I have a number of spb apps weather, wireless monitor, wallet, sprite backup ,quads(sorry not spb as stated does that make a difference?) and terminator, pocket informant, resco file explorer, divx player, td2 tools and a few games most I think stored on memory card
drax0r - Can I ask why you switched back?
If you still have the files, you can just transfer them to you computer, and later to your phone. I like wm6.5 on my TD2, but switched from 6.5 back to 6.1 on my ipaq, as the screen wasn't sensitive enough for the gestures, and 6.1 was finger friendly enough on a 4 inch screen

Me too.
Too much battery drain, RAM running 80% or more, phone feels more sluggish.. WM6.1 feels much much faster than WM6.5. Plus there are some bugs like battery info not working.

Reasons why I switched back are answered above.
6.5 drains so much more battery, I have to charge every night.
Phone feels more sluggish, and there are so many bugs in 6.5 right now.
Im happy with 6.1. I bet most users would be too.

Just download the official rom from the htc page and flash it.
i have upgraded to wm 6.5 and my diamond 2 runs better than with 6.1. battery consuming works better with 6.5
thanks guys think I'll leave well alone especially after reading other thread and no one has come on saying that WM6.5 is worth the issues it creates for X, Y or Z
