Will you please give your experience with win 6.5 build 11.
My experience:
Positives: Very cool: More storage
Negatives: Frequent crashes especially upon installation of new programs. Like I installed new version of spb keyboard, it crashed altogether and I had to hard reset.
It is more slower than 6.1.
i thought it was it was a kewl upgrade until i tried it .............
Its much slower than 6.1 not just a little but much slower, looks great but some of the options in the settings menu were missing that i was looking for but all in all i prefer the 6.1 over 6.5....which i loaded back a few mins ago(6.1)....cant wait for 7 next yr to see what tht has to offer but im assuming Viva's processor might its work cut out for it lolololol

Thanks for your reply!
Yes I am also of the same opinion. How can I go back to original ROM? Because we have changed the hard spl. I shall be thankful.
well, for me, it works great, except it doesnt have windows live and onenote mobile, i had to download it (except onenote cos i dont need it) on my own... speed is okay, not as fast as wm6.1, startup is slow, the new lock screen, honeycomb and titanium is cool, but the panel for email and text is EXTREMLY BUGGY (they show a X sign and nothing else), album and touchflo 2d seems to respond faster, theres a few bugs but they dont really show up much, the new touch engine (or watever the thing is called for the touch scrolling) is great, but theres touchflo scrolling which makes it really annoying (btw, is there any way to remove the scrolling? i changed the registry but its still there)... but for me, its okay for everyday use...
P.S according to the ORIGINAL POST ON PDAVIET, its based on the iolite rom(i think) and i DONT recommend you guys to upgrade to v12 but wait for v13, so in the meantime, use the v11 rom...

guys, when you say go back to the original rom, do you mean the version with 6.1? all you have to do is flash your viva again but using the
HTC OPAL ROM 6.1 V05 - Build 21014.1.6.0 version you can find in this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=494083
That rom is from PhamQuang too
its quite good enough,.. but sending message always notify me delivery report, and get load.... , i cant unchecked the box..

Hi,
I was active in the BA forum about a year ago, and have some free time now so would like to get my BA working again
When I was here last helmi had just released his first 6.0 rom. Could anyone advise me about how the ROMs have improved since then, i.e. improvements between 6.0 - 6.1 - 6.5, and recommend which version to install?
I'm mainly looking for stability and a clean and well organised interface. I tried a ROM just now out of curiosity and found it was completely messed up with coverflow picture viewers, oversized task managers etc. which did not look good.
Thanks for any help, or just general ROM discussion
hardingt0110
maybe i will recook latest 6.1
if you really look for stability do not try WM 6.5, about the speed the 6.5 roms are quite fast
i personally use 6.5 because i can handle the crashes here and there, but it is possible you never encounter a crach on 6.5
WM6.5 is still in beta stage thats why you may encounter bugs ...
try for yourself, i recomend if you use your device on daily basis and not just for toy use 6.1 until 6.5 becomes RTM
wm6.1 build 21032 or 21038 are waiting for ya
Cheers for the help
So which ROM would you guys reccomend for my requirements of fewest bugs / cleanest interface? I guess imatrix you were talking about xtreme's ROMS there, or sun_dreams?
@xplode: once wm6.5 is stable, will it have any improvements over 6.1? Would I be better with a 6.0 over 6.1 for that matter? That would be great if you could make a new version of 6.1
Thanks

I for once don't agree with you! LOL Well I use R3 Your Creation... on a daily basis and beat the cheet out of it, and have had very few crashes... So... C'mon mate, trust your work Its going great. Getting ready to flash R5.1 . I just need to sync phone first. I had to re-format my pc and haven't installed Outlook yet, so, till I can find my Office CD and can Sync my contact I won't be flashing. Oh... I hate moving... Still have 1/2 my stuff in boxes and can't remember what is where.
@ hardingt0110: I can suggest Swampy's WM6.1 : BA_M2D_CE_OS_5220275__Build_20275.1.3.3_V3 I used it for quite a while, still have it on one of my other BA's and to me, it was pretty featured and stable. Use it with his ExtROM.
If you read a little on the top 10 threads, you will find most answers to your questions about 6.0 vrs .1 and .5
Happy Flashing!
@ Explode: Like I said, I haven't flashed 6.5 R5.1 yet, but just from what you've wrote, I can already say... Thank You! You've really put your time into this last ROM. My Respects to you and all the other great cookers.
@ Swampy: You've been a little quiet my friend. Waiting to see what's New @ Swamps Cooking
@ markanthonypr: Edit your signature lazy boy, you don't have a "working Tornado" anymore LOL
@ Rafyvitto: Thanks for suggesting BA its all your fault LOL
I will always try latest ROM, though I know it could be buggy, but I feel we are the persons to give true feedback to developers to resolve build related issues and finally make them solid. Developers are working for us and we should help them by pointing out bugs in decent ways ( not discouraging ways) I have installed xplode's 6.5.1

I'm totally agreed with that!
I tried Swampy's M2D CE_OS_5.2.20931, its fast but the folders are not really organized. I'm currently using xplode's Build 19209; slower but stable and looks pretty official.
Cheers to ROM developers!

@xplode,
You know mark is right, right? You should have more trust in your work buddy!! Your roms are normally great with a few bugs here and there.
@ hardingt0110
If I were you, I would jump directly to WM6.5. markanthonypr is right on the money... I use 6.5 for daily use and I beat it like a rented mule without any issues. I have had to do a series or SR in the past week, but it is not because of the rom itself but rather because of the latest release of PointUI2, which for some reason is buggy as hell. I uninstalled it and everything is back to normal. Try it, you may like it...
@ mark
Moving is always a pain in the a$$. Don't feel bad though, I moved about 2 years ago and I still have half of my stuff packed in boxes.
Thanks for all the help guys, you've saved me hours of ROM trying and the associated risks in flashing
I think I will try xplode's R5.1, as the screenshots of the interface look pretty neat. How does the honeycomb interface work? It always looks slightly too big for the screen?
Has anyone got any reccomendations for interface enhancements for wm6.5? S2P http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417511 looks a lot nicer than WMP along with all the other apps by A_C.
Thanks
EDIT: What are the fixed themes next to the ROM download? do I need these if I download the fixed rom?

The apps enhancements are really up to personal taste... Here's what I normally have
Main UI: Varies but currently using PointUI 2 Free v 2.018b (later releases are too buggy)
Music Player: S2P
Lock Program: either S2U2 or ThrottleLock
Browser: NetFront Browser Concept 3.5 and Iris Browser (both are light, pretty fast, and Iris can use true Flv video (youtube and such))
Contact Manager: Pocket CM
Keyboard: PCM keyboard
Mail Management: I use the stock Pocket Outlook. However, Flexmail isn't bad either (not free though)
Video Player: Either CorePlayer or TCPMP
Picture Viewer: S2P
Games: A bunch!!
GPS Program: IGo 6 (will change it to Google Navigate eventually, but this one works rather well).
Calendar: Thumbcal (not free)
Thanks i will look into those
By the way I figured out that the honeycomb scrolls
I still don't know what those fixed themes are :S can I still use my own background in wm6.5?
yes of course you can use customized backgrounds. if you pick a qvga jpg picture, open it with "pictures and videos" you can set it as today background and select transparency, that also makes it the start menu background and those abstract pictures, general dark background with colorful lightplay looks wonderful. i already tried a lot of custom backgrounds and can't even decide with which to go permanently. i wouldn't recommend .tsk today themes though, they didn't just change the title bar and menu bar, which i expected, they took away all the finger friendlyness and put back the ugly old menus and scrollbars.
MOD! please move to Vogue Upgrading Forum!
I just installed 6.5, but I think I am going back to 6.1
CONS
MD2 is far superior in every way, especially when it comes to email, you can view headers and check multiple accounts quickly, it is much nicer too.
I hate the fact that I cant quickly access my recently used programs.
PROS
it feels a bit faster
Bottom Line
I really think that 6.5 is no big deal, just a bit of eye candy, its funny how microsoft paid big bucks for fashion designers to design some themes instead of investing a couple of thousand dollars for a decent UI expert, they never cease to amaze me with their stupidity.
it is a shame that everybody is going along with it, as if this is the next big thing, it is really a very small baby step. MD2 not to speak of MD3 are far superior in every way.
Have I missed something? What do you guys think?

Really? I am gonna try this. Last time I tried 6.5, I did not see M2D
just try nfsfans v8 6.5 rom, if that isnt a good enough reason for you to keep 6.5, then you need to switch to a crackberry
yup... under the today options...uncheck the default and check touchflo...
I didnt like the 6.5 gui either and went straight back to m2d in the options. Just updated to v8 for 6.5 a few moments ago and the options are there... I believe nfsfan had it in is roms for the last few versions...

I loved his ROM , it's best of both world, but i mainly use M2D , and also SPB Shell 3 , switch it back and forth.
I switched back to 6.1 simply because I hated 6.5's UI on the Today screen.

Buggy in which way? Can you eleborate?
I was using v6 r2 for almost two weeks and it was rock solid...then i switched over to v8 just the other day and again.... rock solid. If you find it "buggy" in his release you should make note of it so he can work on it and try and resolve those issues...
Personally it feels like m2d w6.1 but faster and more stable. Launching Garmin would take some time before hand, and now with 6.5, is 10x faster...
i dont particularly like the large icon start menu. is there anyway to change it to a smaller view of the icons?
I went back to 6.1.
Slingbox Mobile looks like ass using 6.5 unless I disabled both the 6.5 GUI and M2D. It's a big deal for me cause I use Sling a lot. Memory issues somewhere.
Other than that, I think 6.5 with M2D worked pretty good.

Slingplayer mobile currently has these version that were just released
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Pocket PC 1.6.0.114 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Windows Smartphone 1.6.0.62 (US)
* SlingPlayer Mobile for Palm OS 1.00.22 (US)
* Windows Mobile Downloads (UK)
As for an application not working correctly with a pre-release version of WinMO, thats hardly the Chefs fault as the Application might not have a version to even look at yet let alone develop for
What versions of WinMO 6.5 have you tried - different Chefs utilize different kitchens and different items and tweaks as well so without trying all of them you really dont know if one wouldnt work or all wouldnt
Up to you if you want the time to spend with it I dont use it as if I want to watch television, I watch it, if Im out and cant watch some show or event, well thats what bittorrent or hulu is for LOL

thanks a lot again for the answers guys
This question has been bothering me for a while now as there is nothing wrong with my current build rom with 6.1. I have been wondering if it is worth upgrading to 6.5 (apart from testing/ hassle of reinstalling all my applications).
Apart from the UI change are there any other noticable differences worth the upgrade? Would you say the 6.5 brings new life to the device (because of the UI) or are there other changes such as the way it manages the battery, gps etc.
I hear there is a small performance hit but that is understandable to power all the new ui but apart from that the new cooked up roms are pretty much there in terms of a near perfect rom.
The only things I noticed and found useful are better finger-scrolling (however, I can't select or drag&drop icons in Total commander when scrollbar is visible) and larger menus. No big changes, still "just Windows mobile".
Just like with any software upgrade, generally it's worth it - you get new features and bugfixes, etc... Likewise, the downside is higher resource utilization and new bugs What's of more value in your universe?
The answer is... 47.
You'll have to try it and then you'll find an answer that you may like better.
No!
The answer is 42!!!
Know the facts...
i think i know exactly what you mean, oh well i will have a look tonight at the 6.5 roms and see what has been cooked up. Who knows i may like it.
Does the touchflo work on 6.5 or does it use the default windows system?

I think that Duttys 6.5 ROM includes TF3D 2.5 - the latest - but don't quote me.
TF3D (ver 2.0 and 2.1) works with WM 6.5. if you don't want/like TF3D, there are several cooked ROMs that exclude TF3D.
Definately flash this, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=524032, i did a couple of months ago and been updating regularly, the speed difference is awesome.
I have had major issues with battery life since I upgraded to the new SPL and WM 6.5.
I have noticed no less than a 40% decrease in battery life standby and talk time.
I have tried to go back to wm6.1 but still have the same issue so maybe its something to do with the SPL level?
Is there an easy way to go back to the original factory load? (warranty load)
G
i think the 6.5 interface is awful, with icons spread all over the place. Not clean at all. i think its a step backwards. dutty 3.9 is my fav rom
I tried it out last night for a few hours and i have to say with the HTC touch flo and other things there is not much difference really to make me want to stick with 6.5. Ok there is a new menu system and the windows have a little ui improvement. Other than that its all the same + with the new bugs that xda devs are dealing with.
I am too going to stick with 6.1 as its been out longer and more bugs have been ironed out.
If it had some worth while features apart from ui i would give it a longer try and post bugs to chefs etc but its hard to test and continue using my phone, especially when i use constantly for call, txt, email, web and gps. It takes ages to reinstall all my apps and apply config.
i say it is worth it....... i hav the energyrom which in my own opinion is the best...... energyrom 6.5 with titunium
The only interest would be to access the "settings" menu in 2 clicks.
But I hate titanium and their ugly honeycomb menus.
I stay on Manila.
So for me : no interest.
i tried it and got a little confused with the menus as i did not know where anything was, the new menu system is also finger friendly but a sure waste of space.

I agree, step backward's,like it's been changed, just for changes sake.
But you can organize them, using reSTART or do it manually
Ok then,an organized bunch of icon's all over the place.
6.5 seems to me,to be trying to appeal to both finger and stylus camp's,and doing neither particularly well.......TF3D on 6.1 is far better compromise for finger and stylus imo.
I use WM because I like the vastly larger amount of info that can be viewed and used on screen that stylus use afford's,bloating the size of menu's for finger use like in the app drop down menu's so that I have to scroll to find what I want and move twice as far up the screen because of the oversized space's,is not what I want....thus backward's step for me.
There's also a CAB makes the menu smaller too.
No doubt, probably will be one to give back the list start menu also.......question is "is WM6.5 worth the upgrade"
If they had gone back to pre WM5 volatile storage, and sped it up 50% it would for me,as it stand's,it's just the same 6.1/6/5 OS with a few more changes
Is there a way to change the start menu in wm6.5 back to 6.1 style? I like the scrolling and a few little effects but apart from the ui i do not see it worthwhile.
Its good to have something new and playwith but from the roms being released, the bugs still need to be ironed out.
Well guys, after a couple weeks with the stock TMOBILE rom I conclude that it's just USELESS.
I can't even use the phone... It's getting stuck when I'm trying to call someone, stuck when viewing images, stuck stuck stuck, at least 5 times a day.
Plus a million SOD's a day... I tried everything, from losing all apps, to modifying the registry.
I NEED A NEW ROM
But there are so many over there, I do not know what to choose.
I need:
1. As little visual tweaks as possible, i'd like to take care of that myself (CHT Cooked in is fine though)
2. Maximum system stability and performance, I DON'T WANT HANGS FROM SIMPLE OPERATIONS SUCH AS CALLING SOMEONE
3. No bloatware
4. Not much bugs (ie good support, constantly worked on, not a 1 time "job" )
Basically If it can resemble the stock one, but with more stability, tweaks and performance boosts, then i'm happy.
I have the sticky flashing manual in hand, so all I need is a recommendation.
Looking forward to flashing this thing today, thank you very much XDA.

this is a custom rom close to stock as you're going to get, please make sure you read loads before flashing.

Also there is an advantage with the full version in that if you wish to update the rom in future you can backup your settings using the energy settings exporter and then reimport them.
regarding the builds mentioned - can you expand ? links ?
thanks !
Exporter sounds GREAT.
Basically there are two builds of almost all the custom roms. One build will be the latest 6.5 build (21907, same WM version as the stock roms but with some bug fixes) then there is the 23569 (or higher) builds. These are WM 6.5.5. Some big changes here to the way the start menu works and also to the UI to make it more finger friendly. It's also a little quicker than WM 6.5 but (apparently. i've not found any yet) more buggy then WM 6.5. Also as i said (and i've now checked this) custom roms also include newer, less buggy, versions of sense (AKA manilla)
I suggest EnergyROM
Great, I think I will go for Energy.Leo.23569.Sense2.5.Cookie.Reference.Jun.26.7z
Is that OK for me ? (well, is it better than what i have now )
Is there a settings exporter in Energy.Leo.21907 ?
If you have the T-Mobile US HD2, make sure you use the right radio for your device.
That would do nicely although i don't know if it includes the exporter tool. You may want to look at the full cht version.
Good point about the radio. I have a UK version so i can use whatever i want. The right radio roms for the TMOUS devices have verison numbers that look like this: 2.xx.50.xx. the 50 bit is important as radios with the 50 in it have the unlock code for the extra ram in them and are compatible with the 1024MB rom chips. Also never ever use a radio with a version number like this: 2.xx.51.xx. The 51 radios will brick your phone and they can not be recovered as far as i am aware.
And yes afaik there is a setting exporter in the WM 6.5 builds
My radio is 2.10.50.26
Is that OK ?
Just how much faster is the 6.5.5 over the regular one ? I'm not liking that lower start button anyway so if it's not really faster i'll pass.
Looks kinda like an iPhone.. Less " serious "
m3ph - what ROM have you had in mind with the Exporter build in and the upper start button and CHT ?
I thank you for all the help... I am feeling positive about my HD2 again.. Can't wait to flash it !
Just making sure I get everything right about all the different Energies so I don't reflash and reflash a thousand times... Making a concious decision

the radio will be fine.
The difference in speed is not massive so i wouldn't worry about it.
The rom i'm thinking of will be at this link: http://hotfile.com/dl/50755734/bde591c/Energy.Leo.21907.Sense2.5.Cookie.Jun.26.Take2.7z.html
Sorry if i'm being a little slow. i'm trying to eat my din, while texting the mrs, getting nfs world beta to work and figure out why sense will not show around 3500 of my messages and thinks my sister is my best mate
Deal, I will burn that ROM then, in the 21907 version and settle down.
Does it have the exporter for future upgrades ?
Looks like i'm fixed then ! Thanks ! What version is the faulty Sense that thinks your sister is your best mate ? hahah
Sorry to hear that... my stock ROM still works fine... I did not even update it yet - this one was right from the get-go
Well, I'm on Energy CHT now and IT'S A DIFFERENT PHONE !
WOW.
Thanks guys. You saved my phone and my money !
Now install chainfires 3D driver patch v2 on it and leocpuspeed v4 you'll be shocked.
Wooo Hoo ! This phone is ON FIRE now
Now we're talking !!
Thanks man ! Any more tips ? hehe
What a coincidence. I'm also having lots of problems with my TMobile UK Rom, same freezing, etc.
I have seen quite a few Roms that I'd be interested, but most of them don't mention whether they will work with a locked T-Mobile handset, and if they do, it only refers to TMobile US version.
Will any Rom work on a T-Mobile UK locked handset, or would I also have to flash a new radio. I have 2.07.50 at the moment.
Like I said, I've seen quite a few Roms that I like, but just concerned in case I flash a Rom that's not compatible.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

if you have a wifi router in your house get wifi remote access. It allows you to transfer files to and from the phone using a web interface over the wifi. It also allows you to edit the registry "remotely". Really handy little tool that.
Also have a look at omarket. some handy tools can be got from there but be careful not everything is Leo compatible.
Coreplayer is handy if you wanna watch tv shows or movies. just set the video mode to raw frambuffer if the picture looks scrambled. This one isn't free but is definitely worth paying for coz tcpmp (it's free cousin) isn't as good. I also use srs WOWHD with this to improve the sound. look for 1.5 V2.
The only more i can say is use a PIM backup tool regularly. something like MS myphone or PIMBackup. Saves some time if you don't have an exchange server to store you contacts, mail etc

My advice to you would be to stick to a rom that says it is tmous compatible. that way it will work on any leo but the phone will still be sim locked. so if you wanted to sim unlock it you would need to get an unlock code from TMOUK
