HI,
I'm just discovering the RSS feeds for the HD and I'd like to use this feed
http://images.apple.com/trailers/home/rss/newtrailers.rss
it's an official apple feed for the newest movie trailers. The feed workd but when I click on the link to the trailer I can't seem to play it. I click on Small, medium or large trailer and then it asks me to open a 70 kb .mov file. I click on it and then I see the download screen that it downloaded the file and then nothing happens. I'm getting a little bit disappointed in the Opera browser. Most sites don't seem to be working correctly especially when you need to login, use a search function or play video. Very disappointing. Anyone of you guys any ideas how to play the latest apple trailers on my HD?
Thanks

I hope this hasn't been covered before. I DID search, so I apologize if it has directly been addressed.
I have some questions concerning streaming video. I have tcmp and have no problems with youtube, but I've got a list of some websites here that I believe are rstp. I tried the htc player from here, but still can't get these sites to load. Some of the sites on these links are network stations (NBC, Fox, etc), so I think it would be awesome to be able to watch these.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Another site that I'd like to play, but it's divx and I just can't get it to work

How did you get youtube and TCPMP to work together? I never understood how to get it to work, I have the flash plugin and TCPMP installed but whenever the Youtube video opens in TCPMP it is so jumpy and laggy that its unwatchable, and it never works in full screen.
problem seems to be you're using an MDA (wizard).
The MDA is more than capable of playing streaming media, but you have to remember that youtube videos are not encoded for the low-bandwidth and slow-cpu of a phone.
The Titan (Mogul, which forum you're posting in) has double the CPU power of the Wizard, and can connect over 4x as fast to the internet.
It works just fine on the mogul/Titan.
what are you talking about? I have both the Wizard and the Mogul from Sprint, I am talking about using my Mogul to play youtube videos using EVDO. I know that the Wizard cant play the videos. But I don't know how to setup youtube on my phone.
Go to http://www.gopckt.com/ they have the mobile version of youtube that works really well with tcpmp. all the youtube videos are available unlike the m.youtube.com version
Check this forum. Forget mobile youtube, it blows http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/ppc-6800-xv6800/90808-full-youtube-access.html
Holy Riviera
Nice found! It works like a charm on my 6800!

I've also been looking for decent streaming media links and applications especially ones that are free of charge. I happened to come across this one which I found on the Microsoft site. https://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/domore/msnbc.mspx It only plays MSNBC network media but it works quite nicely. Videos also seem to be formatted specifically for wide screen. They look awesome and they stream rather quickly in my location. Check it out, I think you may like this app and even if you don't at least it was FREE.
Hi, i know the touch diamond has a you tube application, but does it allow you actually download the videos and watch it later without any connections. or is there any other application that will allow me to download youtube videos??
Thanks !
Well I know you can paste the youtube url of the video on a site like keepvid.com and it lets u dl the file in mp4 format, and use the built in video player to play it smoothest
No, the YouTube application does not allow one to save the videos to the device, though I can say it is a great little application. They seem to have kept it rather basic, yet done a great job with it.
You have access to what I believe is all the videos from YouTube, so not like with the iPhone where you had videos compressed and put into a format suitable for iPhone.
With the YouTube application, you can Bookmark your favourite videos, search videos, see lists of top rated, featured and most popular videos, you can send someone links to the videos by email (not really looked at that feature) and there is the setting where you can have it on fast download or higher quality streaming and then there is auto which I think is based upon your internet connection speed.
To watch the videos, there is no better application out there that I am aware of. I also use CorePlayer occasionally too.
As the previous poster mentioned, you can access YouTube through your web browser, take the URL, copy and paste it in at Keepvid.com and then save the file to your device that way.
Here is Youtube downloader found on the xda

has anyone been able to get the HTC youtube player to work ?
when it tries to play a video on my vogue it just freezes ...
It works for me but the only problem is that the audio is always out of sync, always...

Same here with HTC Youtube on my Sprint Vogue. It's first screen is really nice, shows neat little summaries. But when one is selected to play, ugh! First of all, the player goes left handed on me, sort of upside down. And the aspect ratio of the area for video is rediculously w-i-d-e screen. Worst of all, it just freezes, curable only via soft reset.
So, my use of HTC Youtube is only to pick out a video. Next, I open up youtubeplay, enter keywords from HYt, and then download the FLV file rather than viewing it. Once D/L'd, I use TCPMP to play it nice and smooth, sync'd too.
Youtubeplay is available here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385227&highlight=youtubeplay
And TCPMP here:

Works perfect for me. First install the app, then the ravest fix.
I've found that the least troublesome way to use flash is to use Skyfire (mobile browser), plays pretty much any flash file inside the browser. It's also free.
http://www.skyfire.com/
http://www.opera.com/mobile/
You can also fire up Opera Mobile Ver 9.5 or higher and simply install the You Tube Widget.
I've got the 10.1 flash and it was updated today too but any flash videos I watch are often juddering. It's almost like stop motion animation. Does anyone else's player play ok? If I use skyfire browser they generally play ok but I prefer the stock browser.
Also, on previous phones if I click a YouTube link from a forum the YouTube app would open to play it. On my dhd it goes to the YouTube site to play and then I get the juddery issue above. Is there a way of making the YouTube app open automatically when clicking a link?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
On my phone all the flash videos play fine and in HD. (it played fine with the original flash that came with the phone, but I have now installed the one from the market to be sure to get the latest updates).
As for youtube, all the links open in full screen in the player (sometimes I need to click on the icon to get it to open in fullscreen).
The DHD comes with youtube 1.6, but I have updated it with version 2 from the market.
Could you post a link to a flash video youve watched that played smoothly so i can check mine?
EDIT: for example can you play this video smoothly?

Just judders for me

No, this one judders as well. But when you play it there is a popup text that says "This video is not optimized for mobile devices". So, the website is at fault for not providing a web optimized video.
But this is the first time I have a problem with a video, all of the other flash videos I have come across always play properly.
You can try the videos on bbc.com, cnn.com, youtube.com, etc... Either you will get a popup asking you if you want to play the video in the play or you can play it on the page.

It's there, the only youtube version I see on the market is version 2.0.26.
Usually when you can't see something in the market it's because it isn't avaialbe for your area. I don't know if this is the problem you are experiencing.
Google also provides it at m.google.com/youtube , but I don't know if it's the same version.
I just downloaded mobo player and the codec file for it. I wanted to play video's directly on the internet on my xoom. I thought downloading this would help me but video's are still not playing?
I do not understand the media directory thing is there anything I am missing.
I picked media directory to be my downloads in my Astro file. This is right out of the box. I have done nothing to unlock or root this device.
Can anyone please explain to me what I need to do to play video's from a web page on the net. For example I went to a site for Las Vegas wanted to play video of Terry Feder show would not play?
I'm pretty good at following directions. I understand PC very well just learning about cell phones and tablets.
I only downloaded the codec file because the video still wasn't playing.
I do not want to do anything that will mess up my xoom?
Sorry I think I should have posted this in questions forum.
Did you try tapping and holding the video you want to play then selecting soft decoding? You have to do that to a large majority of videos for the xoom.
Yes I did. When the video appears on the screen there is a small blue dice in the center with a ? on it. There seems to be lots of videos that won't play. Is there anything in the codec file that I need to change. I saw the soft decoding for one of the video extensions?
Just found something that says default using soft decoding in settings I checked it. Still no luck. You tube videos play fine
When I tap the video the screen turns light blue but nothing comes up and their are no options available to select.
you said your trying to play videos from a site. What site and what video format? Link?
Go to metacafe.com any video it does not work. That is just one of the sites. I cannot tell what the video format is? How can i see that. On the right hand bottom of my screen it says autoplay ON. I do not know if that is from Mobo app or something else.
took a spin around the world wide web and seems the videos on your site metacafe are FLV files.
go to the market.. install one of these in the list and see if any will work.
not sure which ones are compatible with the xoom so just go in and check on the tech details. better yet go there with your xoom so it will filter out which ones will work.
you can also just search "flv player" w/o quotes in the market and see what you come up with.
https://market.android.com/search?q=flv+player&so=1&c=apps
That site seems to use a bunch of different kinds of video. Hulu videos wont work, but the flash videos will if you install flash, obviously. Moboplayer is for mp4, avi, mpeg, and other types of video commonly not found streaming on websites.
Just called Motorola and figured out that Flash Player needed to be downloaded. Do I feel stupid. I thought it came with it and was on it when I got it. I then went back to the site and the video played.
Do you think MoboPlayer will interfere with anything on my tablet. Should I remove it?
Or should I leave it. Don't even know if it works on the xoom. It did not work to get the FLV file working that is supports. Any input would be appreciated.
keep it. it can play other movie formats.

amazing that an XDA member of a xoom tablet has not heard about moboplayer. thats wild.. rockplayer is made by the same dev that made moboplayer. mobo player is a really great video app! a must have..
