Hello,
yes, basically I am hoping someone could provide some information on how to create or at least modify a cooked a rom Like the Russian rom or the one from pdaclan specifically for the HP iPAQ 614c/612c.
I would like to make modifications to the existing 614c roms and re-build a flashable flash.dio. I've already bricked my iPAQ once and would like to avoid going thru that pain again.
I want to be able to do the following:-
1-
Example, the Chinese rom has a nice feature showing the battery status in percentage, I think thats the Windows\battdrvr.dll that is responsible for this, I'd like to learn how I can extract that file and integrate it with another Rom.
2-
The Chinese rom has some Chinese left overs so If I knew how I can rebuild the flash.dio, I could overwrite those file from the English one and fix the Chinese rom myself.
3- I would like to dictate what software I want to install as part of the rom.
I don't know where to begin, most of the information related to this PDA are either in Chinees or Russian and I am still a newbie.
I am sure if someone posts some tips, I can get started.
please share your knowledge, I am sure a lot of use would find this info useful.

Maybe this can be usefull
It is a Dutch ROM
*I will post a working image soon.
For anyone who is interested in cooking a Dutch ROM, here are the OEM en SYS files, extracted from the ROM.

Also for creating a Dutch xt9 cab file, these files are usefull. Creating the cab file myself wasn't successfull. This is a package ready to be cooked for Dutch xt9 files.

First of all i want to thank you very much for this rom, however
i downloaded this, and flashed it on my device, flashing went perfectly but as soon as the windows mobile screen pops up along with that ''trendy'' beep sound, it gets stuck on it.
i left it a couple a minutes, i stays on the screen showing the ''please wait''
spinning logo of WM 6.
i also tried to reflash it, also re downloaded it in case something went wrong downloading.
anyone else facing this problem to?
and 1 other question,
i made a dump of a hp 614 i have, wich is Dutch, now i got the following files :
- diskimage_Ver.nbo
- part2.nb0.payload
- part2.nb0.payload.part1
- part02.raw
when i whas searching forums i found out that i have to change the
diskimage_Ver.nb0 to FLASH.DIO
i tried this and the device got stuck at the ''clean boot'' part.
obviousley i don't know alot and i'm sorry to ask anyone's help.
but what do i have to do with those other files? how do i make those files to a complete working ROM?
any help appreciated,
thanks to all people that helped me comming this far
I see the problem... I didn't have time to test it thoroughly.
Here is the link for a new (and hopefully a good working) ROM image.
http://rapidshare.com/files/278647058/original_dutch_1.00.rar
The problem is that I myself am still trying to learn to cook, so don't expect any miracles... That's why the first one didn't function properly. But normally this ROM schould function, as it is an copy of a Dutch Ipaq 614c.
If anyone is interested in cooking an up-to-date Dutch ROM, all the necessary tools and dumps are (normally) available. I already posted the OEM and SYS folders separately or they can be extracted from this ROM image.
At the moment I am not able to create a good working up-to-date Dutch ROM image, hopefully somebody is able to create one with the help of this ROM image.

Hi everyone
just bought a G910, i was so enthusiast of my bargain...UNTIL I SWITCHED IT ON... It's like an obese elephant disguised as an handeld [and i have the latest official rom, the .36 one]. It's slow, really heavvy, it crashes continuously, ecc.
I've searched for something that could help me, but i haven't found absolutely nothing about cooked stuff or similar for my G910.
I need an help, if it doesn't exists anything already done, and is it possible to create a cooked rom for the g910, i'm ready to learn.
In addiction, I have some troubles that i'd like to clarify.
1) Does it exists a REALLY WORKING fix for the annoying low volume?
2) Are there some rom for others handeld that could fit and work with succes on my G910?
3) Does it exists some software for overclocking my device?
4) Are there some kind of updates that i can do? I've got WM6 installed, i was asking myself if is it possible, in some way, to install WM 6.5 or similar.
5) Please HEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEELP me
It's a watch, that's a phone.... how can you expect it to do much?
Thanks for your reply but... i've not understood what do you wanna say :/ Sorry but i'm not english ))
Little update.
Found "TSW TOOLS" software, from Cotulla [the forum doesn't allows me to post links but it's so easy to find]
This tool decrypts/encrypts .bin to .tsw and .tsw to .bin.
So now i have a .bin file with my rom.
Tried to "split" it with ImgFstools but it says
"
ImgfsFromDump.exe G910_Software_IT/prg/G910SW.bin out.bin
ImgfsFromDump 2.1rc2
Compression DLL does not support compression type '\AMSS\products\7'!
"
...could someone help me?
Hey all,
I've built my first ROM a couple of days ago (details here) but I'd like to add WWE as language too. (And maybe FR, GER and ITA too).
Also I'd like to updrade to the newest WM6.5.X build (current is 23103), but I'm scared I'll lose drivers or whatever that will (in the worst case) brick my device or make my ROM worthless. And where can I download the latest WM build?
Thanks in advance! I really appreciate your help,
MadMatt

Hi all.
I'm creating a Windows Mobile Rom.
1)---I want to create a rom modifying my smartphone's rom and NOT creating a rom from a clean one (it will be almost impossibile).
2)---Which kitchen can i use?
3)---Where can I download the latest Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Builds? (Da-G's download don't work anymore on Mediafire)
Thanks
Try OS Builder as this is the most advanced and all in one solution. But be aware that if you start from an already cooked ROM you may face many kinds of problems because many cooks have applied methods to prevent dumping their ROMs.
Good luck!

Thanks for you reply!
But, to pass from Winmo 6.0 to Winmo 6.1 or 6.5, do I need 6.1 or 6.5 builds (xip, sys)?
Where can I download these build?

Oh well - you are much on your own with this old stuff now. Usually you cannot do much to the XIP (Kernel) parts as they are largely HW dependent. SYS is part of the ROM anyway and so part of regular cooking. Lookup the forums for your device and download what you can get. If it is an exotic device your chances are ~zero to get anything useful. If you have no experience in cooking it is a very long way to succeed (talking in weeks and months of learning!) - and there no others fighting the same problems any more. Look up the introduction link from my signature to get an idea of how things are connected.
What is your starting point (HW, ROM) and where do want to go?
TOBBIE, in practice I want to use Os Kitchen (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=628948) because it's very simple to use.(I can alredy use it).
I downloaded but when I open it, I have the first screen (that showed in the thread). Is written: "....please, select an official rom update file..." It refers to an update Windows Mobile Build for cook the Rom.
So I searched Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5 Builds. I found 2 very good Builds from Da_G :
-6.1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=547314
-6.5 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=544445
But ALL Links don't work and I ABSOLUTELY need this Build, without it, I can't cook...
Sorry, I have no experience with OS Kitchen. I have only used OS Builder finally and a very old device specific batch-kitchen before this.
Thanks, Can i give you "THANKS"?
But with wich build did you used to cook?

Well first you need to split smartphone (no touchscreen) from touchscreen devices.
I have cooked only for smartphone -> see my signature kitchen and stuff is all there.
Then find a stock ROM for the right type (smartphone or touchscreen) with largely similar properties (screen resolution, maybe also CPU/Chipset).
Can't you tell which device you want to cook for?
I want to cook for my Toshiba Portege G910 with WinMob 6 Professional.
It's touchscreen, it has Qwerty Keyboard, it has Wvga Resolution 800x480. There is not even a rom for this device.
But I want to cook in Italian language, (I'm italian )
This will be tough I guess. Mind that a new ROM will not change the kernel, so any of the new memory schemes introduced with W6.1 and WM6.5 will not apply even if you put a new OS on top of it. So basically you will not gain speed with a new ROM. Adding a language is a tricky thing but is possible, see my signature, even without cooking an all new ROM. So is there no Italian on the device at all?
Oh, I'm sad for this: no extra speed
When I bought, my phone had italian language.
The Toshiba Portege G900 is very very similar to my G910. Also the G900 has WinMob 6.0 Pro.
An Italian guy made a Winmo 6.1 rom for the G900 (in italian language), and now the G900 is very very fast. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4h23pR6JbI
I want to this with my G910, IT'S possible. Salvyc83 do this
(But now he can't help me)
Search for speed tweaks on WM6 if you are happy with the device otherwise. The effort to cook a well running 6.1 is enormous and it is not guaranteed if you get it faster on the UI then.
There are various registry settings to play with which can make the UI faster responding (cache for icons or fonts).
Good luck!
I need too to learn cooking roms. I will follow this thread.
