does activesync 4 save contacts from phone?

Hi,
Today my phone locked up completely and wouldnt respond so i soft reseted it. Still it wouldn't respond, so i had to hard reset. Seeing as that i have synced it with active sync numerous times, will activesync have my contacts stored?
If you copied your contact details from your sim into your contacts in pocket outlook on the universal AND set up the sync to do contacts, then the answer is yes.
if you have synced in the past, and you have choose to sync contacts, then yes, outlook will have an updated copy which can be synced back again.
open outlook and have a look to see if they are listed.
suggest you consider using a backup software for just such an event eg SPB backup.

Deleting Outlook Contacts

Does anyone know how to delete contacts in outlook, I have searched but cant find the answer.
Every time I go to activesync my device it deletes contacts that i have now and keeps giving me loads of old contacts that i uploaded from a phone years ago!
Frustrating stuff!
You can right click on a contact a select delete, in outlook, another option is to set your sync up so your outlook updates whats on your phone instead of the phone updating from your Pc
Hope that helps

How can I sync Contacts with Outlook?

I never used Outlook to sync contacts of my HD2, but today I was going to try and I can't because I allways get one error when trying to sync the contacts.
My device is well synced with my outlook, but contacts don't sync.
I'm using Windows 7.
Any help is apreciated.
Thanks.

Duplicate contacts outlook and device

After upgrading to 1.66 and using myphone to back up, i now have duplicate contacts in outlook and my device and also i hard reset today and synced again, it seems i have up to 4 duplicates of each entry!!
WTF have i done wrong here and how do i stop this happening again?
Sync with Outlook OR myphone, not both!
If outlook is the master, after a hard reset, unregister the phone from myphone, delete all contacts in myphone, sync with outlook, which will restore the contacts on the phone, then register and sync with myphone, which will transfer them to myphone again.
As there's no direct link between outlook and myphone, if you hard reset and sync both, myphone will restore your contacts onto the phone, then outlook will do the same as it can't know the contacts that are now on the phone are the same ones it's gonna transfer. Then myphone sees you have more contacts, so syncs them, and you get a double, etc.
Remove duplicates on PC and phone
To remove duplicates you can use:
1) For your PC: http://www.vaita.com/ODIR.asp
2) For your phone: http://gydarindustries.com/?page_id=4
aha!i get it now, thanks both
Man, i am in a pickle tonight LOL please, read this, laugh and call me a numpty....
I deleted all my duplicates using that app mentioned above on my device. I then deleted all my contacts in outlook thinking it would update to what's on my phone but outlook just deleted all my contacts on my phone!!! How does this work? does it go by what the latest action was or will outlook always update my phone to what's in outlook? If that is the case then everytime i add or alter a contact on my device outlook will delete it. Surely i've got that wrong
I then **** myself having no contacts what so ever, so i thought i'd sync with myphone and get them all back on to my phone, but then i thought, no, wait what if my device updates myphone with zero contacts, i am not sure what way round this all works.
So then i panic but realise that all my contacts i deleted in outlook are still in the deleted items folder so i restored them all and synced it back to my device.
I am now back at square one and am highly confused over what takes presidence when syncing my device with outlook and with myphone, i do however understand that outlook and myphone don't have a connection.
Would i be right in saying that the latest 'action' on outlook, myphone or my device will then be updated to the other?
What i really want to do is, edit all my contacts in myphone, sync to device, sync to outlook, is that possible
i've seen this said on here before, don't mess with things when tired!
apologies for being thick, i'm still getting used to using outlook (from outlook express) and using wm from symbian.

This can be set in WMDC/Activesync. By default, when creating a new partnership/the sync history is lost it's set as "outlook overwrites device". It can be set to "device overwrites outlook" though.
With myphone it's less clear... apparently, the phone overwrites myphone. But, as myphone will restore the phone after a hard reset, i presume it works that way:
If you connect to myphone and the contact DB on the phone is empty, myphone loads phone with what it has. If the phone already has contacts, they overwrite the ones on myphone.
In any case Outlook is the "master" in the default configuration. After a hard reset, delete old partnership on the PC, connect the phone, create partnership, outlook will restore contacts and stuff onto the phone. Then link to myphone, phone should overwrite myphone.
Now that the sync relationships are established, you can edit a contact on myphone, sync myphone -> modifications will be carried onto phone, then sync phone with outlook and modifications will be carried from phone to outlook. But isn't it easier to just edit in outlook directly?

Balls to this, i'm hitting the sack
hi
Hi,
Another alternative is a new service from Scrubly Duplicate Contacts Remover. The service scans and removes duplicate contacts from your Outlook, Gmail and Google Apps accounts. The nice thing about this service is that it gives you the option of viewing the contacts to be merged in advance and picking and choosing the info you want to merge so you have complete control over the merged data. It also keeps a backup of your contacts. Hope this helps

outlook sync woes

hi when i sync my phone with outlook using active sync, it duplicates all my contacts on my phone and on my computer contacts, i now have 3 entrys for each person on my phone and comp, firstly how can i stop this happening and second how can i get rid of duplicates. i would only like to use the sync options for calender and contacts, please help as its really annoying. thanks
Sounds like you are syncing with two different computers or you have an old sync profile still active on the phone? This results.
Options.
1. Remove one of the sync profiles from the phone under Activesync (on the phone not via PC) preferrably the old one.
If all your present PC outlook contacts vanish, dont worry, just look in you deleted items folder in PC Outlook and move the required ones back to contacts.
2. Search the web as there are a few duplicate Outlook item removers around.
