Hi All,
My 838 Pro has lost the rubber piece that holds the stylus in place. Rather than continually replace lost styli, can anyone suggest a place/part number/any information where I can get this part to replace?

I have a replacement screen fror my Alpine. I located a site a while ago which showed in text and photos how to open up the xda IIi, but now I can't find it and I don't want to break anything guessing, any help would be appreciated.

Can you please tell me where did you get the replacement screen ? I bought Alpine 5 days back and suddenly its screen is not working anymore. (PDA is fine only touchpad is not working). I can install all softwares and it works ok, but no more touch sensitive.

I got the screen from here, http://www.runpda.com/ , it cost £93.00
including shipping. But I got stung by UK Customs for £38.00 Tax, rip-off, so it cost me £131.00 in total. I've bought from this part of the world before and not been charged by taxman, its just the luck of the draw.
Someone suggested this place in the UK, but I had already ordered, if anybody tries this one, post costs etc for everyone. Mobile Repair Centre in London. 177a North end road 0207 610 3103.
I used this manual to open case, all the instructions are ok,

they only bit that is confusing is the opening of the black plastic cover, basically follow manuals instructions to open cover by pen holder side, then slid a thin piece of plastic in the gap and slid along (I made a plastic tool from cutting a thickish plastic bottle). In the picture it looks like you place it in the SD slot, this is not the case, just slid along the edge of the gap you have created by the pen holder. :lol:

Forgot to mention, that the internally the screen just pushs onto a connector on the motherboard (just pull gently upwards to remove). I would disconnect it and reconnect it, and put your Alpine back together, just to see whether it was loose or not) Please ensure you use the write screw drivers as the screws are very small and you don't want to round them off), you need a mini philips screwdriver and a T6 size Torc screwdriver.
I'm not sure where you bought it from but if it is retail, then I would exchange or get your money back, if like me you bought privately then I hope my info helps you.
After the first 2 weeks the device usage, the stylus started to fall out its placeholder.
does anybody have similar problem and the tricks on solving it?

Hi, yes very common problem
After only two weeks you could exchange the device (took 3 months before my stylus became loose) but it is a design fault with the wizard
Quick fixes include - tape around sylus, blue tack placed inside, bit of a plastic bag stuffed in etc...
More complicated fixes include taking device apart and replacing faulty plastic part

I have been using my qtek 9100 for three days, and the stylus has just fallen out and gone missing! I really do share your pain, as this is unbearable as the screen is to small for fingers.
u can buy a replacement stylus off ebay for cheap in china, i ordered 2 for emergencies myself.
Hi guys, after one year using, my Universal still in strong form except the stylus always fall out if the unit is pointed down, any trick to tighten it without open the device? TIA.
I've applied couple of layers of cellotape just above the ring. It has been quite reliable and has not fallen out since then

once lost my stylus and bought 2 replacement from ebay
the first one broke
second one was inserted, but couldnt' be taken out.
1 hard snap and only the upper part came out.the remaining was left inside the hole for stylus.
Any clues on how to remove the stylus?

Get yourself the universal's service manual (search for it and/or go to the uni's wiki), open it up and you'll have an easier time to take that piece of stylus out.

Quite easy to solve
Stylus for Uni is located in the back cover and has no backing, therefore all you need to do is to remove the back cover and turn it over to access the stuck stylus. While you are at it, you can fix your loose stylus problem, there is a thread with photos on that in upgrades, I think.

I really need everyone's help. I had to do some repairs on my TyTN II and some of my screws got stripped and lost. Now my phone is sitting in pieces because I am missing screws. I have called HTC and they do not sell screws. I have also looked online and I still no luck.
