Just wondering if anyone has heard of an ETA for the car kit like the g4700 from Seidio for the Tilt?
I'm waiting on them to release that then I'm ordering a damned butt load of accessories from them.

Thanks for the reply seidio!! How does "we are working on" translate into time? I mean within a month, half a year, a year, etc??!!
I would like to know before I start searching other options. I'm eagerly in want of a hands free system.
Thanks,
Alan

I need this so badly. I had one for my 8125 and it was awesome. I'll definitely be ordering this when it comes out.

any news!?
It looks awesome...but $120 for a cradle? Ouch.
I had one of their GPS docks for a Treo 650 and it was a piece of junk. When it worked, it worked well but the design for the power input jack and crappy power cord (with no retention system) made the dock a pain to use.
Hopefully their lofty price of $120 means they've learned how to make a better product and now need to charge more to recoup that R&D. Nonetheless, I still have that old GPS dock if they'd like to offer me a competitive trade up!
It's the combination of jacks that makes it worth the cash. With my 8125 I had a near-factory level of integration with handsfree calling (external mic) and stereo audio into my car's head unit. Unfortunately, none of the other cradles have a mic input.
I have to say that I am pretty excited about this as well. If it works as well as everyone says it does this is exactly what I am looking for. When it comes out I am getting this and the slim rubberized case. Hurry up

I'm thinking that he was referring to the 6800 from the link above.
But... I'll be checking every day to find out when it's available. Particularly if like the mogul it will work with extended batteries and with the slim/rubberized/hard shell case!
Looks like Seidio will be getting a couple hundred clams from me.
I don't know about that. The coming soon for the Kaiser/Tilt is gone and there seems to be no answer from Seidio. When people ask about this they get no reply.

Seidio said that the Tilt kit would be _like_ the 4700X one but in another thread they made it very clear that the 4700X kit is not compatible with the tilt. You should cancel your order if you already made it.

HI
Im a student here in london adn i badly need a Shift
I dont ahve a lot of money to spend but i will accept all prices please contact me here or PM me or email me on
[email protected]
Im in London and i can come to Central London if required or can ventrue to surrey or around london if needed
Thanks!
Can I be cheeky and ask - why?
It's grossly overpriced for what it is. There are much better portable laptops for the price/performance, if your needs are fairly modest.
Sorry I can't help - I'm just wondering if it's really something worth desiring!

I'm the same as him... looking for a shift at the smallest price as possible.
The shift is the ONLY ONE that I want right now... every laptop is just too bad for me apart the shift.
Why? The shift is like 2 COMPUTERS... you can use both CPU at the same time .. look on internet with windows mobile part using touch screen features.. and use the vista part as a real computer with external desktop and wireless keyboard and mouse !
What the shift brings us is totally umbelievable ! Sure there are many complaints about speed/reactivity but.. HEY .. have you tried the damn EEE PC ? it's totally unusable !
Overpriced? 2 CPU , 2 RAMS, touchscreen , 2 OS ... do you have found something like this on a notebook? if there were any 15"4 with all these feature the price would be around 3000€ or $3000 .. twice more than the Shift.
You just don't realise how it is to bring a big bag all the time ... the shift is not as heavy as a laptop, it's not as large as a laptop... it's an experience of 24/24h computer .. and no laptop bring that !
And you got SMS + 3G + GPS + Phone (soon).
I don't really know why you think this is overpriced...
And what about battery ? My laptop is just able to do 30min of computing... the shift is more about 3hours ! .. and 7 days for navigating on internet ...
Sure... there are nothing most valued than the shift.
Lol he's completly right, iv been searching those websites like the loot etc (im always outbidded on ebay by about a 100 pounds lol)
So does anyone know anyone selling one?
I'm still not convinced though. I love HTC's stuff, but for the money, and given that most of us have HTC phones in our pockets anyway, why not get the Diamond and a HP 2133?
I'm just concerned about the shift going like the Universal and Athena- too big for a phone, too specialised for a general purpose laptop.
Just my 2 cents, as I'm highly tempted towards the 2133 - little Vijay555.1 likes to watch films on the train, and a little sub-notebook would be a nice idea.
Have you guys considered importing the shift from the States?

the HP 2133 is too big, I think, to carry 24/24h .. impossible to put in a pocket. and the PDA (like HTC Touch, Diamond, ..) have a too small display ... it's hard to have "good" applications with this small display.
yeah .. I have already considered importing from the States... but it's still not cheaper than in Europe ... it always returns to 1200€

heh, the processor in the shift is better than in the hp 2133. the shift is just fine as a plain subnotebook if someone wishes to use it as such. the fact that it has a second processor doesn't mean it makes the x86 any less usable.
i think it is a great device, and not much more pricey than the athena was when it came out!

Has anyone else noticed that the Galaxy Tab uses a connection pretty damn similar to the one on our Streaks? After doing some reading it looks as though both use PDMI and cables sold as Galaxy Tab cables are a damns sight cheaper. So I've just ordered one and hopefully I will have some good news to report, we'll be able to spend a fiver instead of £30 for a cable! Not to mention car chargers.
But if anyone knows someone with a Tab they can test, we might get an answer sooner?

Ahhhh that sux! But I think, had I searched google for "Dell streak with galaxy tab cable" I would have noticed the amount of people that had the same bright spark idea.... (leave me alone, it was late.... LOL)... But since I'm going to have one delivered that I have no need for, I'm going to see if I can mutilate it enough to fit
It does annoy the hell out of me, how they can use a "standard" and make it proprietary.

It certainly isn't mate, think I'll get me coat now ha ha, I don't how they can be PDMI, that's what I mean about changing standards, it would be like a company adding an extra contact in USB and still calling it USB, im not going to give up....

Slacker G2 apparently has the same cable as the Streak, since their dock works for charging and connecting to computer. The only thing the dock doesn't do is audio out. But to get one cheap you have to be in the States. $18 free shipping.

Yup. And did a factory reset after.
Mine came with a pair that work. I'm surprised yours didn't. Pardon my asking, but are you sure? They are wrapped up quite small in what might just look like a spacer in the packaging. Either way, crazy that others aren't compatible. I pretty much exclusively use BT, it was only a lark that I even tried them.

would make sense if the phone is designed to put out a digital signal only and since that is generally better quality it seems likely they would utilize it. it's probably like Dolby ATMOS and stuff in video devices can only be transferred over HDMI as it needs a fair bit of data bandwidth. also if you are using Dolby ATMOS on the phone the phone will almost certainly be putting out a digital signal for the headset to deal with.

The sound quality blows anything else out of the water for a phone and it works on PC/Mac, et al.
