Hello fellas
my X1 fell to the floor a few minutes ago. Nothing seems to be damaged...BUT Vibration isn't working anymore...and rarely it's working but it's loud and doesn't sound like normal.
Some friend mentioned that the vibration unit is inside the battery...is it true?
Best regards
Andorra
nope, it's not inside the battery. if you flip your phone over facing down, the vibrating motor is just behind the camera LED and to the left a little.

recently the earpeice on the oustide of my M5000 has stopped working when the phone is in the closed position with the screen facing inwards, if i open the phone slightly so that the display somes on the speaker works again, there is no problem using the earpiece when in "pda" mode when the sceen is flipped to the outside.
any ideas?
its starting to drive me nuts as i always ues my phone in "laptop" mode, and make calls with the phone in closed position.
thanks.
Ryan.
sorry to bump, but i cant stand it any more.
I've been thinking about when it happened. i've got a feeling it was after making some registry changes, are there any keys that control how the phone behaves when the case is opened and shut?
i recently installed touch response, and just realised that my vibrate doesn't work at all, with any application. anyone had the same problem? any solutions?
Joel
No burn Motor
I cannot help you to solve your problem, but I can tell you mi case.
I already have installed the Touch Response since I bought my X1, and really I don't have any problem with the vibration motor.
But I read a thread that somebody have a problem with the motor because he installed the htourch on the X1, the problem with this program is because the Xperia do not have a heat sinked LED, and using this app his LED burned and melted over the vibration motor damaged it.
I recommend you if you have this program installed or unistall it or do not use in the bright mode.
My vibration motor is gone too. It only makes a short clicking noise, when it wants to start the vibration, but it instantly dies.
I used htorch, but my LED is still working fine, so I doubt the LED damaged the vibration motor. I never used TouchResponse.
Anyone else got problems with the vibration motor? Perhaps it is just another quality issue... If you do also have problems, please report your version.
My version is 08W47, bought in Germany

The same happened to me (but I had the program tourch button installed). First I noticed that the led had moved sideways a little. This movement increased and after a while I only heard a little ticking sound from the vibrator and finally it went dead. My phone has now been on repair for two weeks.
I miss my phone! And when I get it back I will not us it as a flash light any more!
Hi,
Most of the time my phone is on vibrate during office hours but when ever i get a message or a call the vib is so low that i dont notice...
Any solutions
Thanks

Increase vibration intensity.
settings > sound > vibration intensity.
After i dropped my Note, i realized that the vibration was decreased. The flexible ribbon from the vibration motor was damaged.
I installed a new vibration motor yesterday and all is perfect now.
Maybe same thing happened on yours.

Wow, DIY stuff ? How did you do that?
There are many tutorials on YouTube about disassembling GNote, in fact is not difficult at all. The vibration motor is just beneath a circuit board and it should take only 15 minutes to change it.
The probability to screw up something is almost null
Got it from another thread. Now this is a sure-warranty-void stuff!
Its not that my phone doesnt vibrates its just im not satisfied with the intensity...

Hi guys,
i bought my s4 the day one and it works great for now  but i have a question on the device's vibration. It looks like stronger than s3, so strong that during vibration seems that plastic parts vibrate Is it normal? It looks like an electric razor xD :good:
Also found the Vibra is stronger on the S3
Might have a look to see if the flex/motors are the same and try a swap but not yet
yeh I found when i first got it the startup vibrate (can that be turned off by the way?) was really strong and sounded/felt unpleasant.
Have turned down the haptics and vibrate in settings and now its ok. Except that startup vibrate is still intense.
there is vibration settings, you can choose rhythm (not sure if it's the correct word) and the strength of vibration. just try that

Hi
It seems to be normal! Unfortunately. Some plastic parts vibrate even if you lay the phone on the table... Just knock on the chassis with your finger an the phone vibrates....

I agree with you, on my device happens the same thing, the color of mine is White Frost.
But a friend of mine has bought the phone (color Black Myst) some days ago, his device's vibration isn't strong and knocking on the chassis with a finger doesn't make the phone vibrate.... Should us be worried for ours?
Thank you for your replies.

I know this topic is oldish but I also have one question.
Does your gs4 vibration make a kind of broken sounding noise? I don't know how to describe the noise but it's like if some part inside is loose.
When I hold the device firmly it vibrates normally. I removed the cover and pinpointed the noise source, seems to be the camera or the sim/SD slot.
It's rally bad when you start the device and it vibrates once, or when you spam press the bell or heart beat vibration preview in settings.
It's also just the first few milliseconds of the vibrate when it's really bad I think.
Do you guys have the same thing?
I got the same problem... Thought it was just me...

Is there any solution for the crackling sound coming from the phone when it vibrates??
Replaced screen/digitizer, screen goes dark when making a call & earpiece is silent
So as the title says, I cracked my digitizer 2 weeks ago on vacation and finally got around to replacing it. Having done so, everything works great, all touches register, wifi/lte/texting, no problem. Had to make a phone call today and came upon the issue that the screen goes black and nothing will bring it back. My microphone works but my earpiece (speaker) does not. Once the other party hangs up, hitting the power button brings the screen up like it was sleeping.
As I've gathered from other threads, I'm going to have to tear it down again and make sure the proximity sensor is properly set up and check my cable connections for the earpiece.
Is there anything I should look for specifically while I'm back in there? Thanks all - I've only had it for a month and haven't had time to install a recovery...although I think I rooted it. Don't even remember! But first things first.
