They have it all. You get a device holder. There are several to choose from Portrait or Landscape, with charger or not, ect. You pair it with a vehicle mount. If they have a custom one for your vehicle, they are very good and snap in place. Checkout the 2003 Ford E-series. That is my van. The vehicle mount is in the perfect place and snaps into place.
I like this one http://www.expansys-usa.com/d.aspx?i=176580 because it gives you 3 connections in one package.
Hey dlweston, prolipusa isn't working. At least not the link you posted.
Typo?

The expansys link is to a product by brodit. Proclip is the US arm for brodit distribution. No markup if you buy from proclip.
yes, the proclips are expensive but awesome. I bit the bullet after getting my fuze and glad I did. Fit perfectly into my car and I like the options they give you.
Wow, that's a great solution.
But looking at the pics it makes me think of something that hadn't ocurred to me.
Is there an accelerometer in the Fuze so you only have to tip it to change to landscape? I noticed all the proclip images show the keyboard slid out and thought that might mean that it HAS to be slid out to go landscape...
Thanks!

Hi! iam planning to buy a cradle(with gooseneck option) for jasjar to use it in my car. i have looked for few options but if some 1 has had them can guide me better as to buy which one? i have had a talk from some 1 called david soppelsa(from U.K, using bryson as his id on this website) . He is selling brodit cradles..i wanted to ask if some one has brought the same from him? How are the brodit cradles? Your suggestions would be highly suggested.
Nish
I have a brodit passive cradle and it is great holds it very secure
I use the proclip (brodit versions in usa). I don't like the goose necks as they tend to move/vibrate a lot. The proclip have specific mounts for specific automobiles which fit and take only a couple of minutes to attach.
Allows you to use the universal in either landscape or portrait mode. I hook a cassette sound adapter to the uni's headphone jack and listen to mp3's or listen/watch tv via orb.com over my car speakers.
thanks for suggestions guys, but i have an suv ford endevour and they dont have a clip for that.. so no other option then goose neck..has any 1 brought any stuff from the above named guy?
Nishant
You can connect the Brodit/Proclip holder to a windscreen mount - there are conversion adapters between the HR system and Brodit.
You can also send a request to ProClip/Brodit to include the Endeavour in their offering.
Greetings @all,
first sorry for my terrible English.
The Ameo (Athena) is a great device and i really love it,
but there is something that let me go mad.
I´can´t find a GPS Patch Antenna for the device.
T-Mobile tell me that they can´t help me.
HTC doesn´t Answer until now.
Does any one know wich kind of Patch-Antenna I need for the Athena ?
I tried until know a Patch antenna for the Thypoon 3500, a MCX-Antenna and a MMCX-Antenna but they all doesnt fit. MCX was really close but still didn´t.
I need one because in my Car i have a Front Window with heating.
For any answer or hint i will be verry happy.
Jack
Are you SURE you need one? My ford has front screen heating, but the GPS works perfectly! The chipset seems to be pretty darn sensitive! I'm not sure the connector - in fact, which aerial socket is it on the back, the left or the right?
Look in the artemis forum
Look in the Artemis section. The premium package came with one, and I kept mine after selling the unit as non-premium. However, I have really not had to use it on any device yet.
There's a thread in there with part number etc.
Thanks, for the quick reply.
@Digital.Diablo:
sorry but i´m sure i need an external, i already tried it and i became no Satelites - I tried it with the programm Falk Navigator Pro SC and i´m driving
a Ford Focus Turnier with a new front screen heating. The Original one was heavy damaged by a stone.
@victoradjei
I will try the one for the Artemis with the Ameo(Advantage/Athena) and i will Report if it fits. I don´t find in the Artemis Forum the Name of the Connectorpin. Did you know its Name (for example: mcx )?
Greetings
Jack

It might not be that you need an antenna.Check all of your settings! I am not familiar with your mapping software,but there is a thread somewhere regarding problems with other map software and how they solved it.
I can use mine inside of a 10 story building with Tom Tom on it and it works excellent!
Hope this helps..................Later
mine doesn't work in nearest and costliests car or on foot in most heavily wooded either(more important for me).
so If the parch antenna works please let me know. I'm loathe to carry around my bt gps, it's something else I'd need to carry an extra charger for!
unfortunatly, Artemis hasn't MMCX. I have GPS Shop and i checked it out.
@hdbueller:
well, outside the car i have no Problem to get a Sat fix.
also oh the rear window anything is fine, Tested it earlier just for fun.
@fards: I already tested mmcx and mcx both didn´t fit
I tried this product´s:

and

@MrHagen: you wrote you have a GPS Shop. Could you check wich one fits to the HTC Athena/Advantage X7500/T-Mobile-Ameo ?
@all: by the way, a lot of thanks for all your replies
Right now i wait for the Artemis Patch Antenna, in hope it will fit.
I will report, promise

Sounds like your windows are metallized. You could try driving with you're windows wound down! Let us know how you get on!
After Long Time waiting the Artemis Patch Antenna arived on Saturday,
I Tested it and damm doesnt fit. The Connector looks right but didn´t fit through the case. The hole ist too small for the connector.
Has anybody an Idea where i can find one that fits.
Greetings Jack
If i get a chance I'll ask gpsforless.co.uk
If they don't know but have a selection in stock I can call in and test some out on the way home from work if they'll let me..They aren't far from me

That's cool or maybe not...
Spoke to gpsforless last week, they hadn't got a clue what it was likely to be, not had a chance to call in yet as been working odd hours.
Connector: MS-147-C(LP)-2 HTC list that as the same as the P3300/artemis, Jack was your original patch cable a branded HTC one? it's the same item if it is.

Hermes car kit for the Kaiser?
Can anybody tell me if the current Hermes car kits will fit the Kaiser?
I contacted Proclip and the said they have them in production and will have them no later then November but hopefully sooner. They are in my opinion the best out there.......no I don't work for them!
www.proclipusa.com
Brodit said a similar thing to me in an email. A couple of weeks.
Of course they did -- Proclip is the US distributor for Brodit.
For what will probably be a less expensive solution check out http://www.4ustuff.com/product.php?mode=9&search=htc+tytn+ii -- they're a manufacturer & sell only in the wholesale market.

I don't -- just providing a preview of coming attractions.
This universal kit works well ... especially when you want the keyboard out

~~~
Something that I dont like this kind of universal holder that uses a "spring", where there is a button to release the grip ... the spring will not tight anymore after let say several months.
And I am really afraid if it is not tight, the car bumps into something on the road and then the beloved PDA jumps out of the holder ! It happened several times.
I am not sure with Brodit / Proclip brand, can you share your experience?
I use one from Arkon and the spring is loose now. So, I removed the spring and glued permanently, cut the grip to make it fit for the Kaiser. It is ugly (really) but it can now hold the Kaiser very tightly.
Never had a car kit before, always had a pocket in my car perfect for a phone. Changed car now though and need some sort of holder. Also want to do away with my Bluetooth headset.
Does a kit exist where you put the phone in the cradle, and it both charges and connects to a car head unit/microphone. Obviously not for the Kaiser yet, but if its available for other phones, it will for this in time.
Know some executive cars have this built in and some companies cater for the aftermarket, but they seem to want hundreds. Am capable of installing said kit, just need a place to buy!
How about a Bluetooth car kit? they are available for most cars and head units (be it third party or factory fit units). and you aren't tied to a perticular phone or even make of phone.
The man speaks the truth - i nearly crashed as i swerved trying to catch my bloody Uni!
lol
dangerous things.. need an alternative!
I like this one
http://www.kidigi.com/Car CHT 9000.asp
as it is much smaller than the mounts which also contain a speaker built into the mount itself. I find these to be fugly and way too bulky.
Also, this is easier to take apart on the end holding the speaker and wire around it so I can run it into my AUX jack in the car. I also have a mic tucked away above the rear view mirror, have wired a spare power socket in the glove box, and tuck the wires under a kuda mount on the dash. It's a very clean look and almost appears original equipment.
All I do is cradle my phone when I get in the car and I have MP3 tunes through the stereo. When a call comes in, I just hit the answer button on the phone and the mic kicks in, while the call comes through the speakers. IMO, better than BT because I can also play my MP3s wihtout having to resort to a downgraded music signal via an FM receiver.
I've been using a very similar setup with my 8125 and also pair to a Bluetooth GPS reciever, which will now be built into my soon to arrive Kaiser Works vey nice.
Downsides? Unless I put some kind of rotation dvice between the kuda mount and the kidigi, landscape mode is a no-go. Could possibly use the seidio model for this at the expense of some additional bulk, but it looks like they have stocked out (www.seidioonline.com). It's also pretty solidly mounted, so if you like the idea of a gooseneck that can be adjusted on the fly, the kuda would not work well.
Was tempted by that, but if i need to run cables in the car to charge the phone, thought i might as well put one to the speakers/mic too. Im lazy too, dont want to get my phone out and turn bluetooth on and off every time i get in and out the car
Jgermuga - So connecting the original cable from that mount that leads to the speaker, to the Aux in on your HU, when the phone rings will it automatically switch to Aux and send the call audio to the speakers or do you have to switch it to aux on the HU and then answer the phone?
I need to switch over to AUX on the HU, but still easier than enabling BT on the phone, especially when driving. Plus, unless BT is turned on when the call comes in, I am not sure there is a way to force the connection to go to hadsfree via the car. My change over might involve manual intervention, but it is easy to just ask the caller to hang on a second, cradle the phone and switch over to AUX.
I find it a lot less distracting than trying to get at the BT screen, enable BT, switch to phone pad, hit softkey for menu, enable handfree, and hope I don't hit any buttons inadvertantly, or wind up dropping the call. I have also had the call go into limbo where I had to end it and redial... Trust me, BT is great for headsets, syncs, A2DP, etc, but I am still not thrilled with how it works in the car.
And having it hardwired is pretty impressive when I hit the Voice Command hot button on my phone, say "Play, Dave Matthews" and off it goes!
I had wizard with which i was using holder from Herbert Richter system.
not being disappointed with the quality I'm buying another one for Kaiser.
gps4less have them on ebay for a nice price.
So, i buy this, cut the speaker/charger off, i then need to extend the cables, one to a 12v, one to a mic and one to my aux in? Never tried anything like this before but willing to give it a shot. Any generic eBay mic do the job?
Car Holder
I have had good luck with Herbert Richter with my Vario and I have just bought the cradle for the Vario III and I imagine it will be just as good, they are great quality and do the job straight out of the box.
If anyone is interested. They do vent, bike, suction based holders so look at other items.
Russ
does anyone make a car adapter that is compatible with a weighted friction mount?
Garmin devices have this thing called a friction mount that is weighted. basically the underside is a soft rubber material that keeps the base from moving, and it is filled with about a pound (1/2 kilo for those across the pond) of sand. the base is very sturdy. i have taken many trips with this base with no movement at all.
http://www.amazon.com/Garmin-Portab...5?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1191742690&sr=1-1
My guess is that Garmin are the only one that would likely make any further attachments as they hold the copyright etc, seeing as the HTC devices are competition for them in so much as the TomTom/Copilot route then I dare say it would only be 3rd party taiwanese/chinese companies that are likely to risk breaching the copyright to make such holders to fit on.
Hi, I'm thinking on buying ORA Car Pack
http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=153768&asource=151727
They sell it for 27 dollars. Does anyone own this? Can someone give me a recommendation? I want to buy a cheap carkit for my kaiser, with 12v power included. I want to have it glue to my car dashboard or to my windshield with a vent mount.
Thanks in advanced
In the past I also bought car kits made for that specific PDA I owned by that time. The problem though is that - during your "PDA-life" - you spend a fortune on this so I decided to go for some "general" system like Brodit or Richter (see http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=156824). The advantage with this system is that you only have to replace the actual PDA holder rather than the complete system when you get a new tech toy - which is also less expensive.
I'm very happy with the Richter system now since quite a number of years.
Christian
Well interesting point of view but the ORA car park system, seems to be a universal type of holder and would as such suit their owners in case of pdas change
I'm curious about return of experiences too.
About that ORA system, but also about the Arkon CM799 http://www.mobileplanet.com/p.aspx?i=147464
which would seem to suit the TyTN II too.
As I'm thinking of having the Kaiser into some kind of hard plastic or rubber protector case, I think it's best I stay away from specific to the TyTN II car kit since the phone would be to thick to hold in the especially designed systems.
One question for you Eurybia though : does the adapter you got for the Richter system allows to have the ability to have the Kaiser keypad opened or closed at will ?
Thanks !
I dont like Arkon product. I bought an active charger before, but after not more than 5 months, the "spring" to hold the PDA was loosen (not tight anymore).
Nope.
And even when I think about this feature now I wouldn't miss that anyway. In times of bluetooth, voice dialing and more or less mainly GPS usage in the car I wouldn't use the keyboard while driving anyway. For me the most important thing is that the unit is fixed properly in the holder so it won't drop between the seats or alike even on rough roads.
My eyes are too bad and my fingers too big to play distant-mice-piano anyway.
Anyway, nor the arkon active holder nor the brodit (or Richter ) active holder costs 27 dollars. So I asked again to see if anyone owns one of this or if someon can recomend an active holder carkit for more or less the same price.
well, just got a kaiser variant (at&t tilt) and have a question.... i was thinking about a proclip/brodit, but also want the seidio rubberized case and was wondering.... do they fit together??? at all?
any help would be appreciated.
edit: nevermind, I just sat in my car for the drive home and realised my car has an mp3 holder that is too small for my mp3 players... but it holds my tilt nicely . I even get great gps signal!
