any ideas where can i find parts? and how much is it
They crop up on ebay sometimes. You're looking at a cost which amounts to about a 3rd of the cost of a new device, if not more.
The screen is only seen on the athena and is not produced en-mass like many qvga screens are, mainly because very few people own them and only t-mobile carried the device (on a limited scale) in Europe.
Prepare for a very sore wallet, unless you're insured. And don't try to fit it yourself or you could wind up paying out afresh.
See how much HTC would charge you to fix it first. If it's not worth the amount, connect that bad boy to a LCD and backup everything you need. In the case of it not being worth the amount for repair, I would part it out and sell them on ebay. Most people are in need of various items for the phone (including housing). Just my 2 cents, but I would check with manufacture first to see how much they would charge you for a new screen.
http://www.globaldirectparts.com/T-Mobile-G2-s/6531.htm
this site sells OEM parts for T-Mobile G2/Desire Z(maybe) i bought OEM Battery Cover because i scratched the sh*t outta mine
Since this stuff is OEM the parts are expensive
Why are they not trusted? I have used them many time, the only drawback to this site is that you have to typically buy in multiple quantities.
I own a small cell phone (mostly IPhone) repair shop, outside of this company typically not being the cheapest and the issue with buying in bulk, they are ok.

thanks for the post and the quality of the parts, are they good?
Those prices are pretty cheap for individuals. As a ex tech dept manager for a cell company, I can tell you that bulk is only way to get stuff cheap in the cell world (and any other product). I remember this site and they do good work. I might get an extra backhousing myself. Thanks for the reminder!
I hate to revive an old thread. So, I have been looking everywhere for the part that has the LED flash on it but I can't find it anywhere. I looked at the link above, htcrepairparts, and even ebay but can't find it anywhere.
They had a booth in my local mall pushing this product:
American Express (you don't have to have an AMEX card) has a program called "Premium Return Protection." It costs $49.95/year and allows you to return any number of items up to a total of $2500 for up to SIX MONTHS after purchase for ANY reason or NO reason. They even pay the return shipping.
This means you can buy your Tablet, Cell Phone, Clock Radio or a $600 Coach Wallet and return it up to 6 months later just because you want a newer model.
Limitations are you can't get more than $2500 in total refunds over a year and the refund can't be more than $600 per item. It must be purchased on ANY credit or debit card (not just Amex), must have been new and must still be working. I do not believe eBay purchases are covered but I am not 100% sure.
Basically you are paying 2% of the max return amount for this privilege. So if you only (for example) use it to return your tablet you have paid $50 for 6 months use and now you can get the newest model without taking a beating by selling it.
This is not insurance, you are purchasing the right to return an item for up to 6 months. It does not cover damages. The item must be in working condition when you send it back to Amex.
Use your tablet (or anything you buy) for 6 months and when something newer/better comes out send it back for a refund.
Some AMEX cards already include this coverage for free but it is only for 90 days up to a maximum of $300.
Once again, you are covered if you purchase using ANY brand debit or credit card, not just Amex.
I've "read the fine print" and can't see any downsides other than the $49.95/year fee because I KNOW there is something new I am going to want 6 months from now. It's like a $49.95 rental fee for 6 months use for $2500 worth of stuff.
https://www295.americanexpress.com/premium/premium-return-protection/home.do
That's kind of interesting. Will look into it a bit more as I plan to upgrade to a Kal-El tablet as soon as one is released.
full term
Can anybody post full terms?
Just note that you should buy the device after you do the premium purchase protection enrollment. In other words this is not valid if you have already bought the tab.
You need to return the current tab, add this protection and then buy again.
Looked at the list of the eligible items. Did not find tablets (even computers) in it.
But cell phones are eligible (though it is not clear if smartphones are).
It doesn't seem to even list cell phones. Has the page been updated since first post? I don't think this is meant to cover electronic items. Otherwise it would be open to loads of abuse as 6 months is a very long time for most electronic items. Strangely they offer an inclusion and exclusion list with many categories not falling in either. I'm assuming the exclusion list is the default for anything not listed.

You should look at what is NOT eligible not what is. Listing all INclusions are impossible, EXclusions are what you need to be concerned with.
From the terms:
That perfect item no longer perfect? With Premium Return Protection, you're covered. We'll take eligible items back when others won't.
So if you're having second thoughts about the digital camera or designer dress you purchased, don't worry. Your favorite items are covered - clothing, electronics, jewelry, accessories and much more.
Limitations
Items not eligible for a refund are: animals and living plants; one-of-a kind items (including antiques, artwork, and furs); limited edition items; going-out-of-business sale items; consumable or perishable items with limited life spans (such as perfume, light bulbs, non-rechargeable batteries); some jewelry (including, but not limited to loose gems and pearls); services and additional costs (such as installation charges, warranties, shipping, or memberships); rare and precious coins; used, altered, rebuilt and refurbished items; custom-built items, textbooks of any kind; downloadable purchases (including software, music, books, newspapers, magazines, movies), health care items (such as blood pressure machines and diabetes equipment), wedding wear, tickets of any kind; motorized vehicles (such as cars, trucks, motorcycles, boats, or airplanes) and their parts; land and buildings; firearms; ammunition; negotiable instruments (such as promissory notes, stamps and travelers checks); cash and its equivalent; and items permanently affixed to home, office or vehicles (such as garage door openers, car alarms), Adult videos, equipment and related paraphernalia.

Go to the link in the OP and at the very bottom click on "Terms and Conditions." I am waiting for my "membership packet" to arrive and see if there are any "gotcha's" in it. Worse care I will cancel the plan and get a refund on it.

Absolutely. I repurchased my Tab at Amazon and sent back the new sealed one they sent me against the first order so they don't get stuck with one that was opened.

damn, how long have they had this promotion? where can you even buy these things, especially brand new.
I call and asked about eBay items. The CSR said as long as they are new, it is covered. Also, anything that doesn't fall under inclusions/exclusions is by default covered. I'm still a bit skeptical... too good to be true?

Your response is exactly what I was told by the Amex rep pushing this at the mall on Thursday.
Since this is NOT insurance, damaged items are not accepted so they are able to resell of lot of this merchandise. It probably ends up on eBay! It seems they work with companies who take the returned merchandise and resell it. That plus the $50/person fees they get and the still limited amount they will pay you out ... they won't suffer. Also most people probably won't even use it after they pay for it. It even covers restocking fees.
Hmmm this is pretty interesting, and I probably would have considered it. But I've already got my Tab, and it's perfect so I don't want to end up returning it and getting a new one and have it end up having light bleeding issues or dead pixels.
Lol, I work for Coach.. There is no $600 Coach wallet (for men), though!
I just signed up. Hope this is legit! If it works as I expect it to, this is Godsend!
Wow. This program is very useful for a person like me because I always want the new thing.
So I called 3 different times to make sure it's legitimately useful. Electronics like ipads and tablets just have to have their original packaging and they have to look and work like new. So keep it in a case and save the box, don't tap dance on it an you'll be good. I gave an example about getting an iPad for my mom but she used it once and it's sitting in a box somewhere.
I just have to return my 10.1,enroll, and buy a new one. Ice Cream Sandwich drops around Thanksgiving and so does whatever Amazon is coming out with. This is future-proofing my purchases. Can't beat it.
Now....since the bionic looks like it might not be worth the wait, I might get an unlocked Galaxy S2, and return it to get an Ice Cream Sandwich Nexus 4g. My OG Droid is getting long in the tooth.

Ditto. I was thinking about the 10.1, but I was debating waiting for whatever the "next one" will be (which can become an endless loop with technology). This gave me the confidence to purchase without worry of having buyers remorse in 3 months. Thanks to MisterEdF.
Does anyone know if best buy charges restocking fees on tablet returns? If no restocking fees i may take this option and buy another cool tablet during holidays

Mods can you move this to the GN3 Q&A subforum instead of the GN3 General as I feel it might be better suited over there.

It seems most people are buying a case, though a specific case I'm looking for isn't out yet (sview, kickstand, wireless charging). I'm willing to wait and go nekkid until such a case comes out. In the meantime, I'm definitely going to get insurance on it since the phone is expensive. What is the point in getting a case to protect it if you have insurance on it too? I can understand the screen protector, but not the case too. How often are you going to drop it that it might break without the case? I haven't had a case on any phone I've owned in the last 4 years and I've only broken one screen. However, I now have a 2.5yr and 10mo old thieves who grab and snatch my phone in the blink of an eye, so I know it's going to be dropped more often.
I'm probably going to get Worth Ave. Groups insurance after comparing and shopping around, but not the typical cell phone insurance plan you see on the site ($67/year with a $50 deductible). Rather, I'm going to get the College Plus plan. I spoke with the lady from Worth and she said that as long as you're enrolled in a class (physical or online) with 1 credit hour you're good to go. Or, if you or your spouse work at a university affiliated place, then you can qualify for the plan too as an educator. My wife works at a university affiliated teaching hospital so I can sign up under her. Bottom line, the college plan takes out a policy for a set amount of money. You pick your deductible and length of coverage. For example, a $2000 full coverage policy with a $25 deductible for 1 year is only $72. 2 years is $142, etc. Bumping up to a $50 deductible brings it down to $65/year (which is actually $2 cheaper than the cell phone only plan). They cover basically everything except losing it, though if it's stolen you have to provide a copy of a police report. The kicker here is that it doesn't only cover your phone, it would cover your wife's (assuming her name is on the policy too), and:
Computers
Desktops, laptops, keyboards, mouses, printers, word processors, software*
Electronic Devices
Cell Phones, MP3 players, video game systems, etc.
Electrical
DVD players, televisions, refrigerators, microwaves, etc.
Musical Instruments
Guitars, Amps, violins, etc.
Sports Equipment
Golf Clubs, skis, skateboards, etc.
Clothing
Coats, shoes, jeans, sweaters, shirts, purses, etc.
Furniture
Chairs, tables, sofas, beds, etc.
Photographic Equipment
Cameras, lenses, etc.
Jewelry
Rings, watches, etc.*
Bicycles
Bicycles*
Textbooks
School supplies, calculators, art supplies, etc.
Linens
Sheets, towels, etc.

Not bad, eh? I know when something is too good to be true, it usually is. They are A+ with BBB, and most reviews online I find are positive. The only thing I can find that might be a negative is that the turnaround time on a broken device isn't as snappy as other places. I definitely wouldn't get a new/refurb unit overnighted. If I broke my screen, I'd take it to a local authorized repair facility (10mins away), have them fix it, pay my deductible and be done. They said typical time from a broken device to having it either fixed or having a check in hand covering the replacement cost is 5-10 days. I can live with that as I'll likely just go back to my old phone during that time, no biggie. Does anybody have any experience with Worth that might be able to steer me away?
Thanks
Seems too risky to try them out and your low post count doesn't help shore up my river of distrust.

Your post does seem rather over enthusiastic for a discussion on insurance, which could lead many to think you are a shill for the aforementioned insurance company.
Not saying that you are of course, but I can see why some might think so.

Yeah I could see how that might look a little shady. Sorry. Def don't work for the company. I think they're based in OK, and I live in NC. Just thought it was a good deal that might be too good to be true and was looking for somebody else's personal opinion of them.
Looking to purchase a Nexus 6P but I am very hesitant right now. Probably should have picked it up when it was on sale a few weeks ago but kept going back and forth due to price and couldn’t make up my mind if the 6p is worth switching to from a Note 4. Have a Note 4 and OnePlus so I have some experience using both stock Android and TouchWiz. I can admit stock is somewhat smoother than toucwiz but hated the OnePlus due to lag after taking a picture. It was infuriating. So I came back to my Note 4. I do plan to pick up the Note 6 if sd card is brought back as i like to go back and forth between stock and other android variants. So that’s why I couldn’t make up my mind if the 6p is worth getting. Anyway I digress. My main concern is how Huawei is in reference to warranty and device repair. A few of my friends who bought the device said they did so from google so they won’t have to deal with Huawei in terms of warranty. I also usually buy devices secondhand on Swappa or Ebay as you can get some pretty good deals. However, I think I want to go new this time in case I have any issues. I have a BestBuy 10% coupon so I could get the 64GB from them and pay about $530 total after taxes. Or If I buy it from the google store it will be about $589. Do you guys think the Google customer service is worth the extra cost and not having to deal with Huawei? Is Huawei as bad as in thinking in terms of repairs/customer service? Also is the extended warranty from nexus protect or Square Trade worth it as I know some people did have to sometimes swap a few phones before they got a good one.
Just a warning, you'll want to check that your coupon is usable on phones. Best Buy's 10% off "anything" coupons come in a few different versions, and at least one isn't valid got things like laptops, phone, game consoles etc.
Thanks

ok will do so. I'm starting to read abut the Nexus 6P Bending issue and becoming even more hesitant. Decisions , Decisions.
In regards to bending I wouldn't worry too much. Any metal body phone off this size has some risk of bending, but as long as you take reasonable care of it and keep it in a case it will most likely be a non-issue.
With a solid case, the risk of bending is very greatly reduced. Like mentioned above, check the coupon, Best Buy can be a bit tricky with wording.
I love Google's customer support, but, once my order completed properly (it did not clear due to daily limits the first time, hence needing to contact Google), I have had no need to contact them. Anyways, Google often tells people to contact Huawei with device issues, so you may end up discussing a problem with Huawei anyways. Huawei does offer a free screen repair upon contacting them, too, in many cases (from what I hear).
For protection & peaceofmind use Speck Candyshell case...ftw

Not if you get the Nexus Protect program on it. I ordered my 6P from Amazon at first, to get a little better price. But then started reading about all the horrible customer service instances with contacting Huawei directly. So I ordered one directly from Google with Nexus Protect, for peace of mind. Returned the Amazon one unopened. This way I always deal with Google, who seem quick to respond and help (mostly by exchanging the phone, it seems), and should never have to deal with Huawei.
If Huawei ever hopes to do well outside of China, they had better do something about their customer service, IMO. Maybe what we read here about them passes for good service in China, but does not stack up well at all compared to the other flag ship smartphone brands.
If you do get it from Best Buy, you will be able to get Geek Squad Protection on it for 7.99 a month plus a $150 deducible. It covers literally anything that could happen to the device. As long as you have a device to bring it, they will give you one.
