[REQ]3G in Comm Manager - GPRS and UMTS only (not Auto) - Networking

hi guyz.. i've been searching all entire universe how to change my Comm Manager 3G option to make it GPRS / UMTS only (not GPRS / Auto) ... in fact i've been searching the settings in registry but no good to me.. i'm afraid if i'll brick or caused me to HR my Touch Pro if i over-change my registry it comes to dead end to me
So i'm begging to experties out there who can help me or guide me how to change the registry or create a small apps that can allow me to change my band network either GPRS or UMTS (WCDMA) only.. either it applicable in Comm Manager or an independent app..
or else, i have do it manually, Start>Settings>Phone>Band>[change]
Currently i've found Comm Manager Pro that meets my need but the app is too big and eats my memory bcoz it has other functions which are unnecessary to me (and its not free too )
thanks to all xda's members attention.. and sorry to make this request too long to read..
God bless you

Any '3' UK Network users here?

Undoubtly there will be some
Just wanted to ask if you guys changed/did any settings to make the Hermes to make it work better with the network.
I'm also planning to upgrade to WM6 and i need to save the GPRS and MMS settings to 3 so that it will work again, currently mine are all vodaphone ones as i have a vodaphone version of the hermes.
Also we're not able to use the '3' portal that is normally on a contract handset right?
Thanks in advance
Jason
bump? anyone please?
Not on 3 anymore, but do know that the portal can't be loaded on the Hermes, irrespective of the version you use. It's something to do with 3 not the phone, their pages are just not compatible.
As for the settings, they've been posted on the site already, use the search facility. You can also try www.filesaveas.co.uk.
thanks for your advice latinoxxx.
i have seen the settings posted twice here. therefore i dont know which one to use.
please could someone paste the correct ones down. it will save me from asking again if i get it wrong
thanks in advance for the help guys. really appriciate it.
sugest you try THIS. Its the settings setup program from HTC:
[*]Under Network Settings Wizard click the "Download Software" Button
[*]On the next page tick the box, then in the drop down menu which appears select "Network Settings Wizard-UK" then click "Download"
[*]Save the zip file, and run the .exe it has inside it (make sure your Hermes is connected to activesync).
[*]Select the three network and i think it should setup your device with the correct settings?!?
Try that out??
thank you so much mr vanx, you dont know how much i appriciate this.
btw, someone has started a thread about "Call for Operator Settings for ALL NETWORKS "
maybe if you add this tool there, it may save a few posts and guarentee that the settings are correct since they are form HTC and given by the operators themselves.
thanks again

How to: Use GSM instead of 3G by default?

I was wondering if anybody knows what registry to change so that on a hard reboot, the rom uses GSM by default instead of using 3G. Thanks
I know this is not fancy, but you can call rogers to turn off access for 3G...that's what i did
good luck
????
What about a some kind of tweak software??
wow, someone revived such an old thread. Actually, you only need to change a registry settings from Auto to GSM.

[REQ/IDEA]find network in one click

Hi all,
I often have to work in different countries and when I cross border coming home with my car, the phone keeps being on the foreign network for quite a while- meaning roaming and huge costs - before automatically changing to my provider.
If I want to make a call and avoid costs I need to go in comm manager/settings/phone/network tab/ and finally click find network.
That is 5 clicks.
Is it possible to have an exe I could map to a soft/hard key to automatically launch "find network"???
I searched the board but couldn't find anything.
thank you for you answers.
brad
Hello,
just asking again sorry. Anyone can help?
Is it possible to launch "find network" from phone settings with a small software or mortscript? similar to wifi or bluetooth toggle but for finding cellular network.
Thank you for your help.
Brad
I'd like to have something like this too. Anyone can help us?
ok.I think I made what you needed.I attached it at the bottom.Just unzip the file, and copy it to windows/start menu/programs.Every time you lunch it,it will display the network connections
Ps.If you use less than 7 programs in the quick menu, the you can copy it in windows/start menu and when you push start,it will show you my shortcut
Thank you very much. Now I try it

So.. Did you set it to:
Qualcomm MSM72xx (CDMA)
or
Qualcomm MSM75xx (CDMA)
or
Samsun (GSM)
I'm talking about the setup part for WMLongLife (the application that you found)
You will need to set it up to make it work.
What settings did you use on your HD2 ? mine just keeps crashing after installation. And the whole device is slow now and battery runs out fast lol.. it should be one of the gsm ones..
It seems to work with the bottom samsung (gsm)
i use the samsung (gsm), i seem to be runnign it fine im not sure ive came across any issues yet, could it be another app messing with this one for the peopel with issues
Please can someone share all settings for this app. What check boxes did you check/uncheck etc.
For me it does not look like it's working the way it should.
I do get a popup asking if the application is allowed to access "internet", but after using the application it does not terminate the connection. (even when set to 15 sec.)
Also when I start "Band Switcher", and press the button "Disconnect data" it does not drop the data connection.
I've set the Radio Schip Model option to Samsung (GSM).

Disable 3G

I only have one obsession. How to stop 3G connection. Definitive.
I set "My work connection" but everything is connected. I want just GPRS.
How do I make this?
Hello, what I use already for quite a while is a 2G/3G switch in my communication manager. So that you can control 2G/3G yourself.
Install attached cab file on your phone.
And next put the 2 symbols in windows directory (use total commander for that). I resized them from original. Should they not fit let me know.
Now you should find 3G switch on 3rd place in your comm manager.
It's almost perfect now. Thanks a lot!
I found 3G-button in the Communication Manager but does not say anything. Only ON / OFF and those icons. How could occur and some writing?
