stupid question; when i download a hotfix to my hd to be installed, it saves it as an .exe file. after i click on it to install, can i delete the downloaded .exe file from my phone? or will it affect the hotfix if i delete it?
thanks.
You can delete it after installation

If it has installed itself on your himalaya, uninstall instructions are in the thread

Start>Programs>File Explorer>My Device>Extended Rom
Install Caller_ID_W..
PHP is a language which runs on the webserver. so when you click on download.php you actually start a service on the server, which gives you the requested file.
now these CAB-files are pocketpc cab files ad are kind of setup programs for PocketPC , so you have to copy the CAB to your pocketpc and execute it there.
You can execute it by putting it in your extended rom, modify the config.txt and hard reset (I hope you know what hard reset means/implies)
or simply by tapping on it in PPC file explorer. In this case the CAB will disappear after installation. But if you have a previous version of Caller_id installed, you best uninstall it first : by editing the registry as explained in the forementioned thread, deleting as much files from the previous thread as it allows you to, soft reset, and delete the rest of the files.
I sure hope you understand all this, because if you don't know what php is, don't know what PPC CABs are, then I would advice you not to mess around too much with your PPC internals.

i know what is cab file.
but i wanted to know weather the file is in zip format cus win zip doesn't recognize it and even when i paste it on my ppc it doesn't install it simply says (there is no application associated with ''caller_id_wwe'' run the application first, then open the file from with in)
sounds like something corrupt during download
clear your internet cache and download again, don't unzip/unrar it, just copy the complete CAB file to your PPC
almost everything is installed with cab, so it would be weird that no association exists. Or during the copying to PPC maybe the conversion went wrong.
I'm really guessing now, just keep trying.
here's the upgrade link:
http://www.socketcom.com/support/support_wlan.asp?Type=SDIO
how come i can't download it? the zip file link doesn't work.. MAN!!!!
What ZIP file?
ftp://ftp.socketcom.com/wlan/SDIO_WLAN_142F.exe
yup its an exe file.. my bad.. anyway it's temporarily unavailable now. however if you have the file can you please post it here?
thanks
Here it is..

Hi!
Anyone knows where's the cab file? I need to have it install in the EXT ROM.
Thanks
It's somewhere on your computer..
Check temp files or program files folders..
Search for .cab files created or modified in the last 24 hrs...

Hi Bonzo
Nope. Can't find it on my PC. I mean the cab file for this SDIO WiFi update.
If'll to unzip it there's no cab file for it unlike the earlier update.
try renaming the exe to zip
many avtivesync install's are
selfextracting zip files and you can open them
if you rename them
Thanks Bonzo
CAB Files
Here are the CAB files, one is the driver, the other one is the application.
HI.. my xda2 bottom outlet/socket/chargersocket is broken. and the repair store said they cant fix it anymore because the connector w/ the mainboard is also broken.
i have 2003SE and thank goodness i stil have a backup of my xda in spritebackup. so everytime my xda reformats, i just restore it.
but my problem is, i only have few programs/games installed. and i want to install more. can i still install more? what do i have to do? can i still install wm2005?
thanks..
you cant install a new rom without activesync i believe
but you can install programs
just copy the cab files to a sd card and run them from there
most activesync install programs from windows can be renamed to zip and opend and then you can copy out the cab files

Yes. The cab file is like the "setup.exe" on a PC and is safe to delete after installation.
Or better yet, what I do is keep all the latest versions of my favorite software in a folder on my storage card in case I need to reinstall or hard reboot or something.
when I download the files, I don't have cab files. For instance, I downloaded the CHTEditor. It downloaded as a zip file w/ the .cab extension. when I click it to unzip, there are no cab files. Just some kind of file w/ the little windows icon next to it. Is there some way to download the .cab file for editor (and all the other files that do this to me) ota?
I think you are in the wrong forum. It's not a HD2 problem but a windows problem. Maybe a Mod will move your thread to the right forum.
if you "run" a cab on your pc it opens like a zip. instead copy the whole cab to your phone and run it.the phone sees it as an installer.
