WLAN + Bluetooth = FAIL - Touch HD General

Why is it that when I have WLAN switched on and try to speak using my BT handsfree I only hear interference???
Man it sucks!!

i do believe they operate at very similar frequencys however why that isnt a problem on other bluetooth and wifi enabled handsets i do not know.

I noticed this the other day too. Whilst connected to my router via WIFI I tried to bluetooth a file to another phone and my WIFI link dropped.
Surely they can both live and work together happily!?!

Strange - I don't have this problem. I regularly use wifi and BT together with never any problem.

Try to change the wlan channel in your wlan router. My router has 13 channels. I guess your router has also more channels. Set an another channel so will be more place between the bluetooth und wlan frequency.

wifi and BT
Well on my notebook (toshiba) when activating bluetooth first time with wifi on, I got information message, that as mentioned at the top, they operate on same frequencies, therefore, they can (but must not) interfere.

I will try that! Thanks for the tip.
EDIT: Tried several other channels and seem to have found a working one. Many thanks!

I´m happy to hear that my tip was the solution for your problem. Have a good time with your HD!

Wifi router working for anyone?

I have a vodafone uk hd2 and have been really impressed with it as a product. I have not had any luck with the supplied wifi router software, I go through the minimal setup and press start and as far as the phone is concerned the router is up and running, the problem i have is that neither of my laptops can see the router.
Has anyone had any luck using it? Is it possible that vodafone have disabled it somehow?
Alternatively so i can manually add the router does anyone have the following details that would be setup automatically;
wep in use? is it 128 pass phrase or 40/128 key?
open system authentication or shared key?
im guessing the wep index would be 1?
Thanks
Search .. it was discussed 10 times already.
Thats as maybe but none of the several threads have a real answer as to why some people have it working and others dont. It also seems that the functionality can be effected by soft reset which isnt ideal at all. Also i havent been able to find any of the above original settings that i asked for in the threads hence the post.
Works for me
Hi,
works great for me - just have to make sure that you're not connected to WLAN with the HD2 when trying. Disabling WLAN, then starting WIFI-Router does the trick for me.
Good luck !
I am on vodafone and wifi router works perfectly for me. It worked when I had the stock 1.43 rom and it works with all the cooked roms I have used since.
i did notice it only works with 802.11g not with 802.11b devices like PSP or some other phones..
Is that really the case that it only works with 802.11g devices? Im fairly sure my netbook isnt new enough to have 802.11g and as such probably wont see the router. Has anyone found a way to get the router visible to 802.11b devices?
Wonder if u have enable the N band function . I think Wi fi router will not work properly when it is enable. I did numerous testing with my laptop and iphone . When n band is enable on HD2 , Iphone can surf net thru HD2 but not the laptop . When n band is disable , device can connect no problem ..... So , to get wifi router to work , just have to stick with g band until someone can solve the issue .
Just to add on my previous post , I tried using WMWIFIRouter , also come back to same result ....

The N band doesn't work anyway on the HD2.. better turn it off.. just because there's a parameter in the registry doesn't mean it works..
I have a N router at home and while it looks like it's doing N and it states "auto" instead of 54mbs, it still connects to the narrow band channel on the router..
N Works

N Works. I have a Linksys WRT320N router that can operate on N only, and the phone connects fine (at regular 2,4 ghz, the new 5 ghz doesn't work). Didn't speedtest.
I tried the standard sharing prog and wmwifi router (different versions) and can only, with a lot of effort, get my laptop on the net through the BT of my HD2. I have the N tweak on. Also did the trying in range of the router.
Any chance it's the computer you are trying to connect with? Tried with my work computer, but couldn't because our Dells have computer to computer(adhoc) connections locked out for security. Does the wifi router function show up as adhoc or access point?

ok, now try and get N speed with only one antenna...
Ok Ive got a similar problem with the wifi router and vodafone
everything works hunky dory wifi router turns on, computer connects all is good only when i try and access a website i get a http error 403 forbidden message as if voda have restricted access i have no idea how this would be possible though.
Ive tried many site same result and many browsers chrome, safari, ie, firefox and opera
same thing
the strange part is that tweetdeck and skype work while the browsers don't
HHMMM
anyone else experienced this problem
As I'm on O2 I was quite keen to flash a new ROM to get the wifi router working as they did the dirty on us by ripping it out of the 1.43 they shipped it with...suffice to say that I'm not overly impressed with it after the couple of trials I've made using 1.66 ROM as the speeds its capable of generally fall short of what you get if you simply connect it via usb and use data sharing..bear in mind that I've only tried it twice so far and as such I may refine my opinion with further trials in different locations but as I was hoping to avoid repeatedly connecting leads to the usb socket it's a bit of a blow sooner or later, wear and tear will be an issue to think about.
my findings
had a play with the router, just to see and initially thought it wasn't working.it connected, but wouldn't pass any data.
25 minutes of my best network technician skillz later still no joy... that is until I remembered the laptop has a fixed ip and default dns server address set. as soon as I set them to automatic, bingo, fully working.
did a speed test from the laptop (mobilespeedtest.com) and got just under 900kbit over 3g. winner!
The connection only shows as 802.11b, but that's fast enough for the 3g connection so no worries.
the only down side is that it's adhoc, so the wifes n95 doesn't see it..but then again thats possibly a blessing In disguise!
EDIT as mentioned by the poster below, I had three connections present, (wap.o2.co.uk, mobile.o2.co.uk and paymonthly.o2.co.uk) and the router wouldn't work on them all, though I forget now which it would and which it wouldn't.
I never tried with 1.43 O2 ROM, but after flashing to 1.66 stock rom I just tried this.
For some reason I have 3 internet connection options:
1) Pay monthly contract
2) o2 active
3) mobile web
My standard connection is "mobile web" so I tried this first, and my laptop couldnt see the HD2 as a WIFI router. I then tried the "pay monthly contract" option and it worked straight away.
Now under my Notifications screen under O2 3G UK, I have two connections running, and the download speeds running the same as my home broadband due to the HSPA connectivity available through the phone.
Anyway, I just thought I would share this with anyone it may help.

Problem with Asus AC router, Z1 loose connection

I've bought a new Asus DSL-AC52U: dual band wifi AC router and seems that only my Z1 with this Resurrection Remix v1.5.2 (nougat) every 20/30 min, or 1/2 hours..., loses the AC WiFi and i've to switch off and on wifi to get it again, other devices like smart tv and pc on wifi ac haven't this problem. I've tried everything router related... asked for a replacement and had another new. On the 2° router done a firmware upgrade/downgrade, restore, change bands&channels, set a static ip for the phone, read the router logs but nothing useful, asking in forum/googling... NOTHING. All seems to be due to the phone. I apologize for this general description, it would be difficult make a logcat because the disconnections seem to be random and can't be reproduced... someone could help me, please?
Hello again now to your problem. Did you use DHCP server from this Asus router or static ip? If DHCP please try static and see if disconnect happens too. Also which band did u use? 2.4 or 5GHz? I never had problems with ZUK Z1 on different wifi access points like Cisco 1602i,2702,1131,1242 on 2,4 and 5GHz. What I want to say: the zuk z1 works well even on expensive wifi access point or integrated routers.

Hi, as i said i've tried almost everything, included set static ip for phone but without success. The 2,4 Ghz band of the router it's ok, no loss of signal, included for the Zuk Z1. For the router there are no other elements that could disturb the signal or damaging it in any way. I keep it even over a cardboard box for a better distribution of the signal. Today i had the possibility to try another 5 Ghz hotspot in an university and seems that Z1 remained connect, even if for a second it seems not able to load pages on chrome, but 2/5 seconds later it did it. Same behaviour happens with my router, but the phone doesn't recover connection (so pages doesn't load) and often i found it totally disconnected from router... i don't know, is very strange and mindblowing, i repeat that other 5 Ghz devices haven't this problem, even a brand new Sony Android TV... so seems not a totally router fault.
Surfing online there are various cases of people that loose the wifi signal while screen is off and in general problems with the wifi ac, i hope someone can help me.

Ok, so the problem is only with the 5Ghz radio. Have you Auto channel? Maybe changing the channel to a fixed one can improve stability. You can give it a try.

Unstable wifi when using bluetooth

Hi
I have bug: when I'm using Bluetooth (connected to my miband 2) my wifi is randomly disconnecting. Is this normal? I'm on stock 7.0 eu phone.

It can be with some devices... BT and 2.4Ghz WiFi can interfere with each other since both run in the 2.4Ghz range. Change your router/AP's WiFi channel or connect at 5Ghz and the problem should go away.

Just log into your router and set the WiFi channel to the highest number available (11 or 14 depending on region) and test... If it's not better try 1 or 6. Worth a shot.
Good luck.

Wi-Fi connection problems when using Bluetooth device

So I just bought a TWE last week for my Nokia 6 (TA-1021), and I have noticed that when I connect that device to my phone it sometimes has a hard time connecting to our Wi-Fi network, or if it does connect it sometimes display 'No internet access'. Strangely, the problem goes away the moment I disconnect the Bluetooth earbuds. Now, this only happens on that specific device. I have a cheap Bluetooth speaker as well but my phone can easily connect to the Wi-Fi network. I have seek for Nokia's chat support but the solution they gave me wasn't for long term. Does anyone also has this kind of experience with their device? And does anyone know how to resolve this problem?
Bluetooth frequency range overlaps with Wifi 2.4GHz band. So if BT device working frequency clashes with Wifi 2.4Ghz channel your access point using you will have connectivity issues. You can try re-configuring your Wifi access point and selecting another channel. Or ditch 2.4Ghz band and use 5Ghz only. I had a similar issue with UE Boom speaker and ended up using 5Ghz band for wifi.

Now that you mentioned it, the audio does act up when using my Bluetooth devices near my wireless mouse, which also uses 2.4GHz band.
But as I said before this only happens on my true wireless earbuds, and not on my Bluetooth speaker. Does that mean that my speaker uses a different frequency?

Bluetooth operates in range 2400 to 2483.5 MHz (79 channels having 1Mhz width, plus two guard channels), while Wifi 2.4GHz operates in range 2412Mhz to 2484Mhz (12 overlapping channels of 20/40 Mhz width). So your speaker uses one of those 79 channels which does not clash with your WiFi, while earbuds use some channel causing interference. Unlike Wifi you cannot configure your earbuds/phone to use another BT channel to avoid clashes with Wifi.
As I said before you can try reconfigure your access point to use another 2.4GHz channel. But in my case reconfiguring Wifi AP did not help too much, because I have a noisy neighborhood with lots of access points operating in 2.4GHz band, so selecting available channel not clashing with bluetooth and not deteriorating Wifi performance appeared an impossible task, so I resorted to 5Ghz band.

I see. That really puts me at ease. I thought my device was somewhat broken.
Oh, I just received the December patch yesterday and my problem somehow disappeared. While writing this I am using the aforementioned wireless earbuds and so far, it doesn't do that constant connect and disconnect.
Probably earbuds/phone auto-selected another BT channel after the phone update.

Link found to WiFi 5GHz problems

So like everyone else I have the 5GHz wifi problem. If I'm not in the same room as the router you can forget using 5GHz. So I found the link to the problem. I just don't know how to solve it. I connected to the 5GHz in a trouble location while having mobile data and Bluetooth turned on. Internet speeds were terrible to the point the speed test would barely run. I turned Bluetooth off, and the speed test are right on par with my old phone, and 5GHz is working fine while Bluetooth is off.
5Ghz is not meant for long range though, 2.4Ghz takes care of that..
You should be able to obtain a signal within around 30feet, potentially more, but it'll drop off at that point.
2.4 carries a lot better..
Could it be to do with the channels that the phone may be using for WiFi??
Turn off all WiFi devices and Bluetooth in the room and see how the test goes.
Very strange.
I am a bit confused as to why people are reporting needing to turn BT off to operate 5GHZ Wifi. BT operates in the 2.4xx space. If you are saying turning it off resolves your problem this points to either a greater hardware/software issue or that you are not operating in 5Ghz at all.
I understand how 2.4 and 5 work as far as range and bandwidth goes. I tested this theory in the same spot my old phone would get 100mbps down (what I pay for) while connected to 5Ghz Wifi. The OnePlus 8 Pro while connected to 5Ghz in the same spot with Bluetooth enabled would cause the phones speed to drop to around 5mbps down and sometimes to the point I get nothing and losing connection. Now if I repeat the same scenario but this time I disable Bluetooth the connection is stable and speeds are 90-100mbps down. I repeated this multiple times sitting in the same location. Yes I understand that BT uses 2.4Ghz. I'm not saying that you need to turn BT off for 5Hhz Wifi to function. What I am saying is some how on this phone, and reported by others, the 5Ghz Wifi on this phone does not function properly. There have been zero solutions or reasons why that I am aware of. My post was pointing to a possible reason why and the fact that it is a hardware/software problem and maybe the right person could look into. I have no reason why the BT being on and off affects the 5Ghz Wifi on this phone and not the 2.4Ghz but it does. And my old phone was a $300 Samsung A50 that I was testing this phone against in my post. I tried to find what channels the phone uses for WiFi but was unsuccessful. If you find the channel lost I would be more than happy to switch channels and see.

It ends up it is an issue with the channel. Before I bought the phone I had manually set my router to channel 153 because auto kept putting me on the same channel as my neighbor. The OnePlus will connect to channels 149 and 153 but isn't really functional. I had to select one of the UNII-1 Channels. Once I did that 5Ghz worked and is functional and stable. The sad part is the reception isn't nearly as good as my $300 Samsung. Maybe they'll improve that if they can. I'm still bewildered why turning off Bluetooth allowed channel 153 to work.

Turn on auto channel on your router. You're going to have issues unless your entire network and devices are moderated perfectly.
Auto does the job
