I've bought a new Asus DSL-AC52U: dual band wifi AC router and seems that only my Z1 with this Resurrection Remix v1.5.2 (nougat) every 20/30 min, or 1/2 hours..., loses the AC WiFi and i've to switch off and on wifi to get it again, other devices like smart tv and pc on wifi ac haven't this problem. I've tried everything router related... asked for a replacement and had another new. On the 2° router done a firmware upgrade/downgrade, restore, change bands&channels, set a static ip for the phone, read the router logs but nothing useful, asking in forum/googling... NOTHING. All seems to be due to the phone. I apologize for this general description, it would be difficult make a logcat because the disconnections seem to be random and can't be reproduced... someone could help me, please?
Hello again now to your problem. Did you use DHCP server from this Asus router or static ip? If DHCP please try static and see if disconnect happens too. Also which band did u use? 2.4 or 5GHz? I never had problems with ZUK Z1 on different wifi access points like Cisco 1602i,2702,1131,1242 on 2,4 and 5GHz. What I want to say: the zuk z1 works well even on expensive wifi access point or integrated routers.

Hi, as i said i've tried almost everything, included set static ip for phone but without success. The 2,4 Ghz band of the router it's ok, no loss of signal, included for the Zuk Z1. For the router there are no other elements that could disturb the signal or damaging it in any way. I keep it even over a cardboard box for a better distribution of the signal. Today i had the possibility to try another 5 Ghz hotspot in an university and seems that Z1 remained connect, even if for a second it seems not able to load pages on chrome, but 2/5 seconds later it did it. Same behaviour happens with my router, but the phone doesn't recover connection (so pages doesn't load) and often i found it totally disconnected from router... i don't know, is very strange and mindblowing, i repeat that other 5 Ghz devices haven't this problem, even a brand new Sony Android TV... so seems not a totally router fault.
Surfing online there are various cases of people that loose the wifi signal while screen is off and in general problems with the wifi ac, i hope someone can help me.

Ok, so the problem is only with the 5Ghz radio. Have you Auto channel? Maybe changing the channel to a fixed one can improve stability. You can give it a try.

I'm out of ideas as I don't know what options are the router have.

My Nexus 10 works fine on most WiFi networks, but there are a few places where it fails. The N10 sees the network which has fine signal strength. It goes to the "Connecting" state, waits 30 seconds or so, and then drops back to "Saved".
I would think the network had non-functional DHCP, but I can connect with a Lenovo notebook instantly from the same place to the same network and AP.
The router that causes the problem is a Cisco 1200 series AP, operating vanilla 802.11g, with an open network, in the 2.4 GHz band.
I have tried all the Wi-Fi-related options in the N10, and removed and recreated the connection. I have found nothing that helps.
Has anyone that has seen this issue found a solution?

Seen this a million times, and it's one of my lingering dislikes about Android (although to be fair, I've seen the analogue -- much less -- on my iPad as well). Toggling the Wi-Fi state on and off like mad (or Airplane Mode) usually does the trick for me...eventually. Have you tried rebooting the router (relatively sure you've have, sorry) or using an app like Wi-Fi Analyzer from the Play Store to see if there's any channel interference? Mobile devices don't always deal well with overlapping channel use.

I cannot reboot the router because I have the problem in a public place (an airport). I do not have the problem with my own router.
I do use a WiFi analyzer, and there is no interference issue. The AP is on a clear channel, and the signal is very strong.
So the only and best solution it to turn Wi-Fi on an off rapidly until it works? Really?????

Never said it wasn't stupid. It's possible that the airport is using a network hack to facilitate its captive portal (I assume it uses some kind of gateway?), and Android is really bad about network "misconfigurations."
After the upgrade to Lollipop on my Yoga 2 830, I'm noticing that the wifi gets no internet access even while connected every so often. I have to turn off and turn back on the wifi for it to reconnect. Is anyone else having this issue? I don't have any issues w/ any of my other devices connected to wifi.
I'm not on static IP, no issues with the router. I didn't have any issues on kitkat. Please share if you also have this issue. Thanks.

Hello!
Did you try connecting your device to another wifi network to see if the problem persists?
I have noticed something similar happening with my Xperia Z ultra after it upgraded to lollipop. I realised that it was happening only on the older wifi routers (I use an ancient Linksys WRT54G), but seems to have no problem with the newer ones.
Changing the channel of your wifi router might help alleviate the problem. I am not certain if it would work in your case, but if you do not have another router handy, this just might do the trick. If you are looking to change the channel, an easy guide is available here.
I hope this helps
I've got a Netgear AC1900 nighthawk with a netgear ex6200 range extender. The tablet is primarily connected to the 5ghz band on the nighthawk. I do have other routers but they are older. I might have to try to take it to work and see if I lose internet access.
I've changed the bands around and it does help. I've rebooted the router, rebooted the tablet, forgotten the wifi and so on. It's still happening after some time. By the looks of it, there are others that have experienced this on other devices. I haven't done a factory reset. I would prefer not have to go through the setup again.
Hi, I would like to ask You friends if anyone experiencing the issue described in that topic?
https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Moto-G4-Moto-G4-Plus-Moto-G4/moto-g4-plus-slow-wifi-speed/td-p/3385956
I'm struggling with it for few days and I can't fix it :/
What router are you connecting to, what frequency (are you connecting via 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz)? What's the speed of your broadband link?
Might be worth scanning your area with Inssider or another Wi-Fi scanning program to determine if you have any Wi-Fi interference from other routers or devices in the vicinity.
My broadband is slow (5Mbit) but if issue appears the speed is decreased also over LAN. I also have high ping to my router (over 100ms).
I have not any interference with other networks.
After reboot a phone or switching on/off airplane mode resolves issue for a while. Ping to my router returns to normal value. (1-15ms)

That high ping and slowdown does appear to point to interference on the 2.4 Ghz frequency (if that's what you're broadcasting on). Do you see the slowdown regardless of where you are in relation to the router?
Do you have Bluetooth on, btw or have any Bluetooth accessories nearby? Bluetooth does broadcast on similar frequencies to Wi-Fi and might be interfering, do you still get the slowdown if Bluetooth is disabled? Cordless phones and microwaves will also interfere (but not show up on a Wi-Fi network scanner).
My ping to the router (a TP-Link W8960N) over 2.4 Ghz, channel 2, is 39 ms but I get the full speeds of 4.5 Mbps expected; we had to move to channel 2 as it was the least occupied. I am about 5-10 metres away and this is through 2 brick walls.
Yes, I have bluetooth off.
I also noticed that when this problem occurs, bluetooth can't find any devices.

What firmware are you on? Does a reboot, a cache wipe or a factory reset (note, a factory reset will wipe your personal data) solve anything?
Also, are any of your other devices/computers affected by this? Perhaps reboot the router and see if this issue persists?
I did not tried only factory reset, but others users in linked topic wrote that they tried it and.. nothing ;(
I tested Wifi also by Moto G2 and it works very well.

I previously had an Asus ac1900 with no issues on my S8 but upgraded to a TP-Link Deco mesh. I've been having tons of issues whenever all 3 mesh units are plugged in only on my S8. All other devices operate fine. On my S8, literally every few minutes, I get the exclamation mark and lose internet but have full WiFi signal. Sometimes it repairs itself and other times I have to cycle WiFi. An Honor 8 right next to my S8 at the same time has no issues. If I unplug 2 of the mesh units, obviously I lose coverage but the S8 is completely stable. I've tried all the WiFi settings on the phone. Anyone else or any ideas?

1) Have you tried to connect to 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks?
2) Forget the connection and re-connect again.
It might be that phone doesn't hop from one router to the other or has a hard time deciding which access point it wants to connect. I have a regular Netgear router, but a good one, so no issues.
Check if your router has a firmware update - helps sometimes.

No firmware update and no control over bands with any of the new mesh routers
Bump
I have the same problem too on my S8+. Hopefully this will get addressed.
I have the Deco mesh router and have the same issues. None of my other devices have problems, just the S8. So frustrating!

Try this if you haven't done so already... I was having the exact same issue. I changed the wpa/wpa2 setting from AES/tkip to just wpa/wpa2 tkip only and haven't gotten any more disconnects on mine. I was Rock solid last night and usually lose internet connection multiple times a night. I had found that in another forum so I thought I'd mention it here.
I may go back and try AES by itself tonight to see how it acts. AES is the more secure method.

You cant do this on the new mesh routers
I'm having the same problem with my Asus RT-AC66U router; I'll try changing the WPA setting tonight. My Pixel never had any issues with that router though.
I've got an unlocked US model S8.
Anybody have issues with Google WiFi? I was considering picking up a 3-pack...

Didn't know that. I'm using the Comcast cable modem/router and also Linksys E3200.
Last week, I upgrade my home router from Netgear AC1750 to TP-Link Deco M5 and experience the same thing. Both S8 phones lost the internet and with a notification of "Internet may not be available". That is when WiFi still connected. I even change the phone Wifi IPv4 to static IP instead of DHCP and DNS server point to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, still the phone lost the internet connection once in awhile at home with the new TP-Link Mesh type router. It appears that the Wifi issue is worst or only with the Mesh type wifi system. None of the other devices at home have this issue including the old S6 phones.
I have the Orbi 3200AC and I was having the same problem with an S8 I picked up from Craigslist. Did a bunch of tests on it and Verizon ended up sending me a replacement for it and this one has been good. No idea what set it off.
Solved!
I have an AC1900 and having the same issues on the my Galaxy S8+, disconnecting frequently. Switched to Tkip security but the speed is limited to the 56Mbps. so I get the logs and see that somehow the router is detecting my phone traffic as DoS attacks. I disabled Port Scan and DoS Protection option on the the WAN setup!!! and it worked!!
Hi there,
i found that all 5GHz wifi will disappear sometime and only 2.4GHz wifi were left even the signal is very good.
Not only mine but also my neighbor's 5GHz wifi was gone too so i can confirm that there is no problem with my router.
but it can be solved by restarting WIFI in setting menu.
is that a hardware bug or software bug? have anyone facing this problem too? :crying:
ps: using stock rom 4.5.5 & stock kernel
I've too, but disappear and restore itself.

I have the exact same issue, I have 2 separate routers, one upstairs and one downstairs. The one upstairs is a 2.4ghz router and the one downstairs a dual-band router with separate SSID's for the bands, sometimes when I come downstairs I can only see the 2.4ghz SSID not the 5ghz one.

but the 5ghz one shown when u restart wifi, right?
Have you guys already contacted OnePlus about this? I have a few days ago, and I'm currently still in touch with them to find out why this happens.
I for example have the problem, that sometimes the data throughput using 5 GHz networks is absolutely zero, no data is transferred at all (tested with iperf3) and then sometimes it resumes but other times I have to disable WiFi entirely (disable background scan to do that) and reconnect and only then it would start communicating again.
BTW: I'll include a link to this thread on my ticket with them, so that they can see I'm not alone with WiFi issues on the 5 GHz band.
