xperia will not wakeup - XPERIA X1 General

in last 4-5 days it happened at least 3 times, when my phone was kept idle in my pocket ,the phone went to sleep mode and power button could not wake it up only resetting after removing battery cover could do so. this is making x1 very unreliable as one doesn't know when the phone has gone to sleep mode in pocket. otherwise i was very satisfied with the phone and thought it was best wm i used ever. as a precaution i re checked power option and un marked the switching off device options. i have read that this was common occurance in many wm phones. any solution?
thanks

Ive had that happen too. I noticed it was only when I had the TF3D panel installed and active.
Do you have TF3D too?

no i have not installed TF3d.

What did you install then?
In my experience it happened with TF3D installed as well.

it seems that i have found temp. solution. i have change my email setting to download mails every 5 min. now in last 5 -6 hrs there was no problem.

I had the Standby of Death SOD this is when the phone fails to come out of standby with a power button press. This issue only affects some people on some networks. I'm not sure if its a network problem or a software problem but as only a minority of people have it, I suspect its mainly a network problem there is a software solution.
The solution is to change the phone settings band option from auto 3G/2G to either 3G Only (WCDMA + UTMS 2100 in Europe) or 2G Only (GSM + AUTO) depending on your requirements.
Also read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2where the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously this only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.

I have this prob too, using energy rom and hard resetted, but the prob still there

Try my solution it might work for you if its to do with the sim/radio/network rather then a particular installed app. If you never had it on the original ROM then the ROM you flashed with might have introduced the problem and I'd advise flashing back to the original if possible. If not its worth trying my solution it worked for me on HTC Tytn II with HTC ROM and HTC Touch Diamond 2 with HTC ROM.

No return from standby mode...

Hi all!
With the latest Dopod's ROM it was nice for the first month, but now I have strange behaviour.
Sometimes the device does not return from standby/suspend mode. It does nothing at all if I press the power button. The LEDs are blinking as usual and if I call my mobile from other phone, I got no answer signal, whi my Prophet does not ring at all, means that GSM part works. Any alarmas and notifications fails to appear, as well.
I noticed, that the prsence of any extra unclosed applications increases the chance to hang. So far, I have no idea how to workaround it...
Any ideas? Is someone have the same problem?
It happens to me with my JAMin with both the old and the new WWE rom. somebody exolain it with the backlight settings, but nobody really understand why it happen
Someone alse have this problem?
I also had this issue for a time. I performed a hard reset and it stopped happening, so I am going to assume that it probably had something to do with some of the software that I had installed on it. My money is on SPB PocketPlus. I've not installed it since the hard reset and it hasn't happened since.
Any extra ideas?
I have the same behaviour since the very first day i upgraded to the latest rom.
I find that it happens regularly if it does, meaning you soft reset the device to get access again and then sure enough one hour later again the same behaviour. I have been on travel the last weeks, where i did not have a chance to sync the device and I have not experienced this behaviour at that time.
Maybe it has something to do with the Sync Process.
I hope we can dig into this a little more because it is really annoying. Especially if you consider that the phone does not ring anymore so you never know if someone calls or not.
Cheers Ulf
Password?
Have you set a password on your phone? If so, then remove the password and see if it makes a difference.
Yes I use the Password Funtcion on the PDA part and also for the SIM card.
I will try to turn off the PDA password and see what happens.
I keep you posted.
Thanks for the suggestion.

turning off the PIN function has solved the problem. The effect is reproducible.
Raised a next question though:How to protect from your wife sniffing into your private appointments without using the PIN?

I have no used any passwords, but has the problem. I've noticed that it happens when the phone is charging. But not only that.
i had the same issue...i read before somewhere in the other forums...(maybe this forum but couldn't find it) to adjust the backlight and standby time to the same value..that fixed mine and hope will work on yours.

Thanks great, so far it helps. If I got the bug agait - I will post. BTW, on the Dopopd's 2.15 it is the only reason for softreset, all the rest works fine!
I have the same problem with prophet touch IX and VIII.
Sometimes, after the device was set to standby (or the display was disabled after some minutes), I can't enable it by pressing the powerbutton.
It seems to have contact to the GSM net (you can call the phone, but it won't ring).
ActiveSync also recognizes the phone, but won't connect.
Maybe this happens less often with battery ~70-100%, but I'm not sure.
The problem occured some weeks after installing Touch IX, and didn't disappear after changing to Touch VIII.
With pdaviet 6, there wasn't anything like this (only the known bootscreen-freeze-problem).
Any ideas?

MDA PRO will not wake up from standby

Hi.
This problem has been posted before, but there was no answer, that worked for me. I was wondering, whether anyone has found a fix in the meantime:
My MDA crashes almost every night when it's in standby and can't be woken up by pressing the POWER-button.
Sometimes, this even happens during the day when it's connected to the computer, goes to standby and then is disconnected.
Only a soft reset will solve the problem.
I don't really have that much software installed, especially no Today-screen plug-ins.
However, I had task switchers such as switch and tswitch installed, which didn't work for me and thus has been removed. I have the impression, that after uninstalling these, my problems started.
One of these - I don't recall which one - has a today plug-in which monitors battery and memory capacity.
However, it seems that programs on my MDA never get completely uninstalled. The unistaller always says that it can't completely uninstall the software and whether I'd like to remove the program from the list of programs installed. So what I did was clear the device manually... maybe that was a mistake...
Any thoughts on this?

I have exactly the same problem. First I had no battery charge and then after replacing the battery, I have this problem.
Any ideas please?
Is it a hardware fault and I need to return the device?
Cheers,
Joe
I have a same problem too, but until today i don't find any problem solving. Please help.
I've had exactly the same problem with my T-mobile MDA pro. I first returned it to the shop but the tech department could not find anything. Gradually the problem got worse; in the end it would not power-up at all and I had to perform a soft-reset each time. Even with only the factory default software running. Returned it the second time and got a new machine; problem solved. So it definitely is a hardware problem.
Could this be a battery problem?
This may be dumb, but ..........
This may be wildly off but I've had two problems that looked a bit like this with my XDA exec. Sometimes when I go walkabout with the wifi left on, even though I've switched off the pda, it will refuse to wake up afterwards. This has happened a few times, but never if I switched off the wifi before going on the move. I wondered if it was trying to connect and entering some hangup state. I have heard it beeping in my pocket as I walked past wifi points and it wakes up. Obviously it isn't consistent.
The other problem happened when I first got the pda while I was carrying it in trouser pockets with the on/off button exposed (ie not in the closed end of the leather cover. It appeared to be hung up and wouldn't wake up (apparently) but all that had happened was that the backlight had been switched off by an extended press on the on / off button. That may sound really stupid, but without the backlight in some lighting conditions the screen just appears dark. I sorted that one, by ensuring the end of the pda with the on / off switch is always in the pouch and safe from being squeezed in my trouser pocket.

its a problem with the voltage control Unit on the Mainboard. My solution for my Jasjar was to install Pocket Hack Master and then disabling the CPU scaling of the Bulverde in the settings. Before turning your unit off or closing the clamshell make sure the speed is underclocked at 312 mhz..you can always set it at 520 while using it. Hope this helps!!

same problem here. sometimes i just press meny meny times (very fast) the power button and the screen turns on. other times i have to soft reset.
clemsyn i'm not sure i understand your solution. do you say that every time i want to turn of the screen i have to start PHM before, and set the speed to 320?
if this is the solution, wouldn't it be very annoying?
I've got exactly the same Problem. I've already changed the battery, flashed Original Rom, WM6 and so on. The strange behaviour of my Mda Pro still exists. After a while, the Pro switches off (Standby-Mode) and most of the time, i can switch it on with pushing the Power-On-Button. But if the Pro stays in the Stand-By-Mode for a while, i cant't bring "him" back to me. Only a Hardreset works (most of the time, i have to put in the Power-Supply, otherwhise, only the red light flashes one time when i push the reset-button).
The problem first appears, when i flashed the original Rom to WM6 (with all steps i had to do: upgrade bootloader to 1.01 and so on). Downgrading to Bootloader 1.00 didn't solve the probs.
At this point, i'am a little bit confused.....i need help
P.S:
Hopefully, my first post is not the last one

I've just read this Thread. Very good informations. So i'll try it with an original Battery...i will post my experience asap.

Hello Clemsyn,
I tried this with Pocket Hack master. First it worked and i started walking, and singing throough my house again.
And now, after a few days, it gives me the problems back. No difference if it is automatically set to standby or with the power button. sometimes I still need to reset.
Hack master gives an error when restarting, so I am sure it was switched on to this 312 speed and blocking the scaling of my Qtek.
I am tring to find a railway to put my head on!

I think we all have the same problem and no one has found the solution to it ? what a shame i-mate couldnt come up with a patch or upgraded ROM which will work hazzle free..
I have to soft reset everytime when my phone goes to standy mode and doesnt wake up.
I am sick of this **** , planning to sell my jasjar ....any takers ?not really here tho.

Having big problem with SPV M3100 freeze/sleep of death

It seems that a lot of people with the Hermes has the phone crashing/freezing/sleep of death to varying degrees of seriousness. But most of you have solved the issue by offloading programs, etc.
My device from day one has crashed/frozen regularly & still doing so right now.
Upon reading about users with the same problem I assumed it was a piece of software but no matter what apps I had loaded or unloaded the phone would freeze, usually after waking up from sleep mode. Sometimes it wouldn't wake up at all & other times it wakes up only to freeze again.
Right now I've nothing loaded onto the phone just plain hard reset & set up 3G & wifi & even removed the sd card but guess what it still freezes up.
I've noted that 99% of the crashes occur under these circumstances. When wifi is activated & the phone goes into to sleep mode without deactivating wifi, when I try to wake it up it'll freeze & not wake up at all or sometimes it will wake up but then freeze up again.
Maybe you guys can try it. Just activate wifi & let the phone go to sleep. Wake it up & see if it hangs. Please bear in mind though that it doesn't do it everytime.
Another thing I noticed is that when the phone freezes up it also gets very very hot which is a bit worrying.
This one single problem has spoilt what is actually a great device. I'm not sure what to do with it as I got it off ebay sim free. I've tried all the available different rom but no change. I'm beginning to think I might a defective wifi module or some other hardware issue.
This is a ROM problem, wait until newer ROMs come out and they will fix the sleep freeze issue.
This is happening to me too with my Cingular 8525 on the Black Majic Rom with WM6. Very, very frustrating! Maybe there's a program that can automatically turn off the wifi when I accidentally forget to turn it off?
I have Dopod Lite and I have option in Wifi Setting/Powersafe mode, where I can set Auto turn off after few minutes

wizard dies on sleep mode

I have a strange problem with a wizard. it works perfectly intil it goes to sleep mode. it dies. I cant re-operate it in anay way except by resetting it.when it dies . it seems that it works good. the light flashs normally.and when somebody calls he will find me avaliable.but the unit dosent ring or answer or hangup or anything.totally death.reset it . works fine again.
i tried to maintain it many times.but I cant fix that problem. tried to change the lcd shield. the backup battery .but with no result
any ideas from pros?
What version of Windows Mobile are you using and have you tried going back to an OEM version?
Aye, my Wizard has had the same problem from time to time. It can usually be fixed by re-flashing your ROM.

Hang-up in standy mode

Hi all,
Dont know if this is a known error in the original ROM but my telephone crashes when it is in standby mode.
It looks like the problem is in the power manager.
SPECS:
Diamond 2
OEM UK ROM
Test Steps taken:
- in power manager auto standby mode OFF
: No problem phone stays alive
- auto standby mode OFF, manually brought into standby
: Problem after 5 - 10 minutes, phone does not come out of standby mode, reset needed
- auto standby mode ON
: same as above
- auto standby on, and manually brought uinto standby
: same..
this doesn't sound like a HW problem to me, but is there a known sollution ?
Thanks in advance..
Grtz.
i had the same problem before -- but with o2 stealth. and i was able to fix it by disabling the password lock in settings. i'm not sure if this will also work on diamond2. no harm in trying.
The sounds a little bit like the Standby of Death issue except I only used to get it every couple of days because I would spend a portion of my week in a strong 3G area the SOD coincided with me being in a weak 3G area. Try this

Hi
Disable the phone radio so it isn't connected to the nework, then try again, does it still fail to come out of standby? With a stock ROM which you say you have anyway do a hard-reset to wipe any programs or settings you may have made and try again, does it still fail to come out of standby?
If yes it is a hardware problem, most likely faulty RAM that can't keep the contents stored in standby mode when it's being refreshed at a lower rate and voltage.

Phil

Good thinking Phillip, If he can reproduce the problem consistantly within 5 - 10 minutes then the phone radio might not be at fault in this instance, the quickest way to tell would be to disable the phone radio as you quite rightly suggest.
In my limited expierience with the SOD I could not reproduce it at will within 5-10 minutes, it just happened randomly 2-3 times over the course of a week and coincedently when I was in a weak 3G area (not such a coincedence! after all)
Admittedly I had the SOD only once again on my Tytn II in the 1.5 years after I changed the phone band settings from auto to GSM only, so it can happen for other reasons but it should be very rare indeed.
If you read this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=540943&highlight=standby&page=2 the resolution was to get a new SIM.
Obviously everything I've written above only solves the problem when the crash is because of the sim and/or settings which impact the sim. To rule out a software cause its best to start with a hard reset.
