Restoring deleted files on SD Card without card reader?

Is it possible to return incidentally deleted files on my SD Card (@MDA Compact) without card reader? Any PPC soft for this, any bright ideas?? :?:
ThanX
I believe it is possible
First install Card Export II on your PPC, it will make your SD act like a mass storage... it works really good
http://www.softick.com/pocket-pc/cardexport2/
or you can try this free (alpha) program
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/usbmassstoragedriver.shtml
or here http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/usbmassstoragedriver.shtml
I have not tried it.... but you can give it a shot
Second.... Install any software that recovers deleted files on your PC.... lets say File-Rescue Plus
http://www.softwareshelf.co.uk/files/products.asp?type=cat&ID=11
or Tune-Up http://www.tune-up.com/products/tuneup-utilities/
then try to recover deleted files...
Very Important.... to recover files successfully, you should do the Recover operation after files are deleted, and you should not write anything new to your card until you get the files recovered... this is because new files are being written to the same place your old filed were written to, and thus, you won't be able to recover them in case you added anything new!
let us now the results

Thanx a lot, I solve the problem with CardExport + TuneUp combination! USBMSC-Alpha doesn't work.
Why there isn't any programmer to write a PPC software to to undeletle directly? It would be nice without even need to go to a desktop to do it.
you are welcome

How to copy (save) contacts to the memory card?

Is it possible at all?
Could be great if I'll be able to copy (save) sms and/or e-mail messages that way too, but this is not so important...
I've tried to search the forum, but going blind and can't find answer...
Please. help me...
Thanks in advance
You need the latest version of the SIM Manager.
Here yah go:
Thanks!
I've copied contacts to SIM not to the memory card, but at least they are secure now!
Regards
Use this simple app http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-ns-contacts-backup-v1-0.html

Hmm.. how did it do that? There are other informations that a SIM card can't handle, e.g. Home phone, mobile phone of a particular contact? They give two seperate entries? How about restoring?
Anyway, a simplier way to do here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=63479&highlight=
search on here for PDAMobiz extended rom. it has a file in it called PPCBckpContacts.exe ...this works wonderfully it backs it up as a outlook file so that u can import it on ur pc if ud like. now this little app stores ur file on ur memory card!

Format phone before new ROM install

Thanks, that wipes the O.S. but files are still into phone.
I seek a way to format the phone before to install a ROM
As I understand it, the installation of a new ROM wipes your phone completely clean. Clear storage serves the same purpose.
The only way you will get any files left behind is if you have them on a memory card inside the device.
does it just rewrite files or it really format before to install ?
I have changed few ROMs lately but after a fresh install my progs. preferences are
already setted...
A kind of fdisk or format for Topaz ?
perhaps you are looking for MTTY?

You need to change install dir of the cabs. You can use WINCE Cab manager to do this.
no other way??? Reg edit or else...
Hello? plz it would be soo cool
That's the only way. You have to modify the cab (s) and change install path.

Hi find this a pain also. I requested Tom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=5385940&postcount=220 to use two folders inside the autoinstall one. This way we could select which cabs would install in SDCard and in the Main Memory.
Hope he will add this feature.
Hi, whre can i download Tom´s Autoinstall as .cab-File?

Could any of you guys please give this a try as a hopeful solution for Installing to SD using Tom's AutoInstall:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=6608162&postcount=47
I am assuming that Tom's AutoInstall processes '.MSCR' scripts contained in the AutoInstall folder of the SD card. If so, this is similar to the functionality of "XDA_UC" by Noonski.
User benjamminzIS has modified a script used by "SASHIMI" (another great auto-install/configure tool) to make it standalone and able to process files contained in XDA_UC/SDauto folder on the SD card. (Please see the above post for his explanation and download.)
So if you placed this script (also attached) in the AutoInstall folder (as per Tom's utility), then placed all .cabs that are to be installed to memory-card in XDA_UC/SDauto (as per the script/XDA_UC utility), we'd all be very interested to know if it works!...
Please feedback with results.
Good luck and all the best,
Hirshy
