I-mate & caller ID picture patch

Just in case you don't know. Looks lke there is a small problem with the caller ID. Carrier Devices (I-mates) have released a patch. I installed it and not a problem. Looks like other MDA/O2 devices might have the same problem but no offical release and don't think this patch works but for imates. Read the posts @

Please download the patch from
http://www.imate.com/imate/files/Gitex_Update.cab. Please copy this file to the i-mate Pocket PC and run the file using File Explorer on the device. Backup or synchronize with your PC any data on the device.
Perform a Hard Reset by holding down the Power button while using the Stylus to press the small hole on the bottom left of the device. The Hard reset does erase all user data on the device, so backup or synchronies your device to your PC first to save your data.
Align the screen and perform the cut and past training, and set
the timezone. Then a list of operators settings should appear. Chose one and then accept the Arabic EULA. Let all the applications install, the device will reset automatically when this has been completed.

Actually it is related to the Country Code and Area Code. I have mine working. Goto Setting, Connection, Advanced and Select Location. Put the appropiate country code and area code and it should work well.

Fixing 0 IMEI

Hello. I've been getting a lot of emails on how to do that and i thought i should make a thread here.
Now you got to have the original box in which there is the imei written. I don't take any credit for this guide as i didn't write it but i found it somewhere here but it doesn't exist anymore. I'm not responsible for any damage may happen to your phone. I did it several times after flashing official 2.3.5.
It has worked fine with my IDEOS X5 U8800.
1. Tools
a. Drivers for U800 32bit win 7 (tested and work )

2. Enable debugging by USB in the settings.

3. Go to ProjectMenu -> Background settings -> Usb port settings put the Manufacture mode and corfim.
4. Go again to ProjectMenu -> Background settings -> Qualcomm backround open settings put the background open. Password 0 and corfim.
5. Go again to ProjectMenu -> Background settings -> Log setting -> Log switch put log on and corfim.
6. Now conect your phone to pc and install the drivers.

7. Instal DFS and run.
8. Click Ports, select the port with the signature DBAdapter Reserved Interface (double click) to close.

11) Select Programming and in the IMEI write yours and press Write.

As soon as the IMEI restored change:

This procedure did not work for me. I found it a couple of weeks ago in another thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1591997) and gave it a try (numerous times) without success. I was able to complete all steps up until actually writing the new IMEI. I attempted to write it a couple of dozen times without any success. It appears to work but the lMEI never actually changes.
I also found another procedure using a program called NVedit but it would give me an error stating the NV location was set to read only (I forget the actually wording). It seems that my phone has the location that contains my IMEI locked in some way that nothing can change it. So I gave up on that phone and am using a different one that I bought on eBay, brand new at a dirt cheap price ($27.00).

are you rooted? i remember having these issues when i flashed 2.3 after 4.2 rom. u first need ti flash 2.2 then 2.3 and that should work

Yes, I am rooted.
I started out on 2.2 way back in the beginning. Then I flashed 2.3.5. That's when I lost my IMEI and replaced the phone.
But I wanted to keep experimenting at getting it working 100% even though I had a new working, rooted, and customized phone. Using 5IromToolBox I restored a backup from the new phone to the broken phone just to see if it would work. Then I flashed Stallion-51-ICS custom ROM. It is a GB based ROM with look and feel of ICS.
When I run the procedure in this thread, everything looks as though it has worked, but the IMEI never changes. So what did 5Irom do differently that it was able to restore the backup from a different phone but I cannot use DFS or NVEditor to write to the locations? The back I made from the new phone and restored to the old one is Consumer Cellular so I suspect they have locked something out that 5Irom is able to get around but other tools don't.
On another note, just for the heck of it I tried to upgrade to ICS from GB and it fails on the first update step. Go figure.
If I could find a full-flash procedure for the pro and 51 versions of this phone I suspect I could resolve all issues. Who knows?
UPDATE: I went through the whole process again and noted a point I forgot to mention. In DFS at the bottom of the screen EQF is yellow, not green. I don't recall exactly what that means but in reading through the DFS doc, it states that writing a new IMEI is not possible as long as EQF is yellow. When I enter my IMEI and click on the WRITE command the response is "MODECHANGE OfflineD OK"

it should be green! what i would do is to flash 2.2 then 2.3.5 and follow again the steps very carefully! maybe u ever flashed a partition and it's not the default one? i can't really help you :/ try this and if it doesn't work make a thread in the q&a section

Yeah, I knew that it should be green. The bottom line is I do not have the 2.2 image to flash. I would have done that a long time ago if I had it. All I have is the DiskImage backup that I made off of my new phone. When I flashed it onto the old phone it starts, displays the Consumer Cellular logo for about ten seconds then shuts off immediately. As far as starting a thread in Q & A, I did that weeks ago and got nowhere fast.
Any link I have found for the original 2.2 for -51 and pro is usually a broken link. or it takes me to download that stupid iLivid program that doesn't do squat to get the files I need. I did find a DiskImage file that somebody made and posted but it is almost 4 gig in size. You are supposed to use Pink Screen to load it but Pink Screen only gives me access to the image directory and it's only 256 meg.

I believe in the wiki section there are links to default 2.2 and 2.3.5. The ones I found a long time ago were from Blefish, although I'm not sure. Good luck!

I try to download the "Drivers for Android 32 and 64 bit win 7 (not tested )", but its a dead link. I run win7 pro, and somehow the 32 bit driver doesn't work.
Would like to try the 64 bit driver. Could u reupload it, please?

I just did a repost cause i veen asked a lot of times I don't have the files and I don't thinks drivers are needed. You could just install huawei's suite for PC

Iv recently installed the Blefish CM11 rom for U8800 and its works fine. Only issue I have is IMEI=0. I can make and receive calls and even use the mobile internet.
My question is - Is there a way to edit the IMEI no on KK4.4.2 ROM through entering in the engineering mode?
or else, will have to start from the beginning (stock rom process as mentioned in the OP).

Hi,
I haven't found out the way to fix it yet.
Only way I got to fix is to redo the stock rom, root, save the imei and the reflash the custom rom.
The reason for the imei issue was changing the partitions

Moto X Play Frozen Software Keys and other errors

Hi All,
I'm currently experiencing the following issues with my Moto X Play :-
- Home & Multitasking buttons not working
- SD Card reader not working
- Apps cannot be installed(even though there is plenty of disk space)
- Quick settings drop down menu is not pulling down
- cannot receive phone calls but Internet(whatsapp) calls work
- cannot switch to front facing camera view
- Developer options are enabled but cannot access developer options menu. error message:"Developer options are not available for this user".
- google accounts only contain sync's for chrome, google play music and inbox - even though other apps are installed.
I've tried the following solutions without any luck:
- hard reset - when trying to access recovery the screen get's stuck on a dead android image and the volume/power buttons are useless.
- factory reset - factory reset protection (FRP) is in place.(tried all the hacks but no luck there)
- flash factory image - when trying to unlock bootloader i get the following error message:

(bootloader) Check 'Allow OEM Unlock' in Developer Options.
FAILED (remote failure)
finished. total time: 0.028s
I obviously cannot 'Allow OEM Unlock' as developer options is not working.
Only bonus is that I can install apks - so any solutions via that route may work.
My Device Details are:
Moto X play (XT1562)
Android 6.0.1
Build Number: MPDS24.107-52-11
Security Patch Level: 1st Jan 2017

Have you actually succeeded to do factory reset? Did you go through all the initial Setup after that (setting language, wifi details, signing up to google, etc)? It looks weird but maybe for some reason you can't get out of setup mode, so install Activity Launcher, find Setup Wizard on the list of all activities and launch com.google.android.setupwizard.SetupExitActivity.

I'm glad it worked. It just happens randomly on some devices (not only Moto) for some mysterious reason - maybe it's update related, but I'm not 100% sure.

[YT3-X90L] Lock state - locked - Recovery image needed

Hello XDA-Community,
I've got a Yoga Tab 3 Pro YT3-X90L from a customer.
He was telling me, that he wanted to unlock his device with the pattern, mismatched for several times and now its locked and requires the owners google account. Or something like that. He never had the owners google account. He told me that his seller has activated his device for him. And he has no clue who it was.
Now here is my part.
I've researched and obviously it's a FRP. The owners google account information are stored in the FRP-Partition. And this partition won't get deleted with a simple factory resett.
What i've tried so far:
1.) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nCzrnnh2K1w I was able to follow this tutorial to minute 9:08. But the option "Email and password" is not there anymore. I guess they patched it with 6.0.1.
2.) I tried to flash a stock rom or twrp with LenovoDownloader(QcomDLoader). The stock rom file is: Lenovo_Yoga_Tablet_3_YT3-X90L_ENG_S200028_1609230146. even its a german device this file was the only one i could find. But the LenovoDownloader won't recognize my device. The windows stays white, no entries. I guess i installed the correct driver for this device and Windows recognizes them as removable device if i plug it in via usb.
3.) I've tried to use adb and fastboot boot oem unlock. But this commands aren't working in locked state.
4.) With a trick i could open the Settings and was full of hope to active the developer options to set usb debbuging to active. But this developer options aren't available either with this "user".
5.) There is an apk for showing the "Email and password" interface. I could install it, but it force closes right after starting it.
6.) I've tried several tools to bypass this FRP: WinDroid Toolkit, D-G Unlocker, Realterm, but NOTHING.
What could i do further? I'm out of ideas right now.
I've read about a factory_update.img but i cant find anything, except the stock rom file, for this device.
Or downgrading the device, so i could use the "Email and password" but. But i can't even flash the stock rom.

Situation:
"Confirm account: The device has been reset. To continue, sign in with a Google Account that was previously synced on this device. "
Explanation:
The device has been blocked by repeated input of the wrong password, pattern, etc. and can only be unlocked with the Google account of the owner.
A factory reset or hard reset does not help here, as the account information is saved in its own FRP partition and will not be deleted when the factory state is restored.
Solution:
1. Connect device to a Wi-Fi and Internet access.
2. Before confirming "Next", select another hotspot here
3. Go to "Advanced Settings" and change the proxy settings of any hotspot to Manual.
4. In the text input field of the proxy settings you enter now any word: e.g. Test
5. Now mark this word and select "Assist" in the context menu.
6. Selecting this "Assist" option opens the Google search application.
7. You can now not only browse the Internet through this search, but also search for and open installed programs.
8. We are looking for Chrome, open the internet browser, go to www.google.com and search for DPC test.

9. After downloading this application, go back to the Google search application.
10. Here we enter "Download" to search for the download application.
11. In Downloads we can now find and install the downloaded app.
12. To allow the installation of this .apk, you must allow the installation of "unknown sources" in the settings.
13. Either you go here on the installation itself on "Settings", or you search for "Settings" on the Google search app.
14. After completing the installation of the DPC-Test program, start it with "Open".
15. The app itself is will register as a device owner and now allows us to set up a new Google Account as owner.
16. If this is set up, it will also be included in the FRP partition.
17. In the event of a new factory reset, the device is reset, the DPC-Test program is removed and the device can be freshly set up in the factory settings.
after the takeover of the owner, the reason for blocking the device was not present anymore and the old owner was overwritten. This will be overwritten in the FRP partition aswell with the new account and the old one no longer queried.

I marked the word and only that is offered on the top right side is : SELLECT ALL - CUT - COPY.
There is no ASSIST option . I don't know, maybe this tablet on my desk has a newer android version with that option removed...
Is there any other solution? Probably will be helpfull for me as well for someone who will have tjis problem in the future
