Dear all,
could you please help me in fixing these?? :
1- When i open calendar, even if I change the show in "month", it starts always in agenda mode
2- Tomtom (7.910.etc etc) works fine, but I have first to "OPEN" the com4 port using HTC GPS Tool and then launch Tomtom....is there a way to do it automatically?
3- I have a file .mp4, but if I open with WMP I can only listen to the audio without video,...did I miss something?
4- Music TF3d player: there is an easy way to play all the cds (in the folder) without creating a playlist?? I found this player a bit complicated at first sight...
thanks in advance and enjoy your 2009 with the HTC Touch HD
Ad 1) - Same thing here, learned to live with it, unless someone else has a solution.
Ad 2) - I have Tomtom configured to use the Build-in GPS receiver (Setup, GPS settings, configure). Works fine.
No comment on 3 and 4, I use core player.
Have you read the Blackstone FAQ? There is a solution for the calendar bug in manila3d.

Just thought I would start a forum Dedicated to one location to document any Bugs that are known, and possible solutions. So if you have any known bugs, or if you have known tweaks, please post.
I have only had the JASJAR for 2 days now, and notice the following issues:
1. Significant amounts of my old software that was working on WM2003SE will not run on WM2005 for example:
SPB - The screen short cuts work fine, but the rest doesnt, no tweaks to PIE, no battery status, no "CLOSE" fix. This is a big problem, cause everything you open stays open unless you close it all via running programs.
KSE Fax - didnt work
Resco Explorer - didnt work
MSVC - didnt work, wont uninstall!!
Pocket Dictate - didnt work
Navman SmartST - didnt work, so didnt get to test the GPS port technology.
Flashdash - didnt work, per supplier working on a fix.
PHM Registry editor - didnt work
2. Text messages dont appear to be deleting, they come back on reset
3. Mortgage calculator due to VB Runtime not supported
4. Couldnt activate MS Reader even though its a microsoft product!!
5. No backup software which is a pain when you are installing software to test, and then cant install it, or your not certain its properly uninstalled
6. No VGA output, or cannot locate how to display on alternative screens such as data projectors. I got the back pack with the XDA II, but cannot find an option here.
7. Serious slow downs due to applications not closing
8. Seem to be a problem with the Blue tooth headset activating the voice command when its switched off.
9. calculator is still the basic model, not the advanced version you can get on your PC.
10. Cant find the registry hack to show the date not just the time.
11. Couldnt get avantgo to work.
12. Explorer still takes a very long time to explore the windows directory, and still doesnt allow a properties view on it.
Some of these might be because I simply couldnt be bothered tweaking some of these, or looking at possible fixes.
I can also see some serious memory issues and the need for a good SD card is going to be important. Speaking of which, allows the ability to automatically/select install to SD card, which is a bonus, dont need cabinstall anymore. Even so,
BUT OVERALL, I think its a nice device, only just released, nice and clear screen, great functionality, good WIFI without serious battery drains compared to what I am used to, BT Headset works usually. I am still to get the MMS and GPRS operational, and dont know anybody that can use 3G yet.
Synchronising music with WMP10 is a good feature, and it can be setup to synchronise your videos and pictures I think.
So, what do the rest of you think please list your bug bears, and if you see a fix great, and any suggested tweaks or software that does work on your devices would be great. Hoping for a long and fruitful post of consolidated tweaks and bugs.
resco file explorer on wm5
I upgraded to resco file explorer 2005 (half price if you last purchased 2003 version after 1 yr) . Try that version if the 2003 version does not work.
some of the stuff mentioned are not really bugs (resco explorer 2k3 works for me,slowdowns because of multiple apps running-> you need a task manager for this)
right now, I'm still waiting if this will ever support USB hosting (but I doubt if it is). I'm quite confuse with how tekguru came up with the conclusion that Universal can act as USB host. i tried inserting an external harddisk using the stock usb cable+female usb A+usb A, nothing happens
hey
i beg to differ...
the phm registry works just fine..
ive tweaked the date and time into the top bar thru registry
ive also changed the calendar softkey on the screen to run and display file explorer
resco explorer 2005 works just not the network part of it...
spb pocketplus with battery bar at the top of the screen works aswell
WM2005 Tweaks n bugs
Thats interesting, I will try to download updated versions then rather than those kept in my library and try again and will advise.
Does the "close" operation on SPB work ok?
Where did you locate the registry tweak?
I think I was using Resco 2003, a few have noted 2005 works ok.
Cheers
for closing app i bought this application called handyswitcher... i also know the close app in wisbar advance 2 also works i havent tried spb close app button..since i have the other two
spb 3
I downlaod and installed spb3. it seems to slow this thing down, but it does have the task manager.
the biggest bug I have is with skype, it just closes down suddenly?
magic button task manager is lightweight and its freeware. I'm having problems with WA2, I'll just install it later when a more stable build for wm5 will be available
avantgo installation
I have found that u can install Avantgo by doing the following:
1. Go to Avantgo website
2. Register
3. Download old wince version
4. install it on pc with pda connected and activesync active
5. upgrade to pocketpc version
6. do an activesync syncing (after choosing ur free channels)
thats it, u get avantgo on your system, but beware, it takes internal disk space...
Greetings
Nabil H
PS I guess M$ removed Avantgo from Rom because it offers now pocketmsn on universal and Avantgo competes with it, the old IE/Netscape story...
Can i ask you poeple with the new EXEC, or branded version, Looking at the pictures the microphone and speaker are on the same side as the LCD screen. If its closed (like a laptop) do you need to open it and spin the LCD round (like a tablet PC) in order to use it as a phone for a voice call
Thanks John

you dont need to open the lid. there's a Send/End call button at the side to make the call. problem is you dont have a way of knowing who's calling. that's where jabra bt800 or akon hbh660 BT headsets come in handy
thanks for the reply GM, that makes sence to use a Bt headset that shows caller ID, But as to answering it with the external buttons, and if the thing is closed wuth the screen inside, cam you hear the caller if you dont have a headset

Tekguru didn't come up with it - quite the opposite in fact. But he reported that ANOTHER site was reporting it worked
Microsoft Voice Command 1.5 has issues... it requires a manual install using the .cab file and seems to mostly work but causes problems with WM5.. and it won't uninstall.
also, I have found that you cannot copy text from a note and paste it into the body of an email using the tap and hold method. you must press fn+space bar to do it... this is a bug in WM5.

You can hear the caller anouncement with voice command installed.
the skype issue is caused by active sync
active sync turns itself on non-stop, I am constantly having to return to running programs and turn it off. skype needs memory, so it crashes when active sync is running.
Is there a registry tweak to stop the 'auto-on' feature of skype?
as for spb3, it does slow this down and make it buggy. I am losing it.
can't you just turn off auto sych into your AS?
NO Announcement with incoming calls. Its so low you cant hear sh..
no turning off active sync in options
the 'option' to turn off is simply gone.
Hi everyone,
Well, I finally made the plunge and am loving my HTC Advantage. Truly delightful. I'm slowly making progress but there but I have a few issues that perhaps someone can help me with.
--Note: I am on TMo USA and migrating from a MDA (Wizard), just couldn't find any love for the "Wing".
--Also note that I have thoroughly read this forum and tried everything I can find. Also lots of googling.
1. I am running MrVRealVGA as widely recommended. This is great, and I've got lots of things working. EXCEPT:
a. I've tried the suggested skins for the dialpad, but none are at all functional with RealVGA. Any suggestions?
b. Likewise, hard to find a good Wisbar skin. I have one that "mostly" works (SWDeluxe) but the folder icons are way big, as are the icons on the task menu.
c. The Comm Manager is also an issue, but I use PhoneAlarm which can mostly handle these chores. I'm using the SWDeluxe theme which looks pretty good.
2. Buttons. I would really like to add additional assignments to the OK and Start buttons since they are so handy. Neither AEBPlus or DoubleLauncher seem to be able to work with those. Any suggestions?
3. I am having the same problems with GPS as others report. Will try iGuidance tomorrow, see if I can get any love. No luck at all with Google Maps. Will report back...
4. Also no luck with TV Out using the 4-in-1 cable; but I haven't really spent enough time mucking around.
Otherwise, the transition has really been easy. The keyboard is not as bad as some suggest, although backlighting would be a plus. Browsing the internet is great and VueFlo is "interesting." Solid signal reception (GPRS and WiFi) compared to the Wizard, and it seems reasonably responsive, even with VGA. And that huge, bright screen is great!!!
After lurking on this forum for a few weeks, I'm glad to now be a full-fledged member!
OK, I got the answer to question #1a, from another thread. VijayBigPhone does the job! Nice solution from one of my heroes!
Welcome to the boards, I would suggest for number 4 you just need to play around with it a little more.
I just tried mine then and love it, quickly connected it to the LCDTV (VGA input) then settings, TVOUT > On > VGA output > OK > LCDTV in PC Mode > Voila....beyond presentations I didnt think it would be a worthwhile feature, but I might I actually read ebooks now that I can see them in full glory of 5" VGA (which is nice) or 32" LCDTV.

I'm happy to report success with iGuidance. It would not autodetect GPS, but I manually selected Port 5 and it did work. Acquisition is not as quick as I was used to with my external hockey puck. Seems to be a cold boot each time. On the other hand... no time for trying to find where I put my hockey puck the last time, no time for setup, charger, etc., and no messing around with BT connections, so this will definitely work!
Still no luck with Google Maps.

I tried to install iGuidance 3.0.1 on my Advantage yesterday. I tried installing to both the Microdrive and main memory. The program seemed to install normally, but once installed would not run.
What version of iguidance are you using on your Advantage? Where do you have it installed?
TIA (from a Newbie)

I will answer my own question (in case anyone else has the same problem.)
I received an email back from iNav Tech Support saying:
Please make sure you have installed the appropriate map file on a SD card. W/o a working map, iguidance program can't be launched.
Also, there may be the same gprs conflict between iguidance and your new ppc phone. To determine if this is the case, try turning off the gprs/evdo wireless data connection on your new ppc phone first and then launch iguidance again. If it launches fine, then you may turn your gprs/evdo connection back on.

I had already installed iNav maps on my SD card.
I installed the iGuidance program on the SD card. It wouldn't run. So, I set my Advantage to Flight Mode, and tried again. Sure enough, iGuidance started right up. I turned Flight Mode off, and iGuidance ran normally. Now, iguidance will start up without having to shut down the wireless connections.
I still would be interested in feedback from anyone who has upgraded to version 4 of iGuidance. Is the upgrade worth the expense? Have you noted any significant changes in the program?
Re: Iguidance - another option
I have 'Destinator' installed and running with no problems on my X7501. I note that IGuidance may no longer be selling maps for Europe although this may only be in the USA. I used Destinator in the UK on my Dell Axim this summer and in the USA earlier this month on my Advantage.

For those of you using iNav...the shortcut for iNav points to a "starter application" that detects the resolution, chooses the VGA or QVGA version to run, and deletes the other version. This can cause problems if you use RealVGA and later change the system resolution, as the appropriate executable has been deleted. The solution is to use a File Manager and change the attributes to "Read Only" for the VGA and QVGA iNav applications.
Also, if you use 128dpi and iNav...the starter will open the VGA version, but the QVGA menus work better in 128dpi. For this resolution I created a shortcut that directly points to the QVGA version.
HTH.

Open Google Maps...Menu--Options--Track Location Settings. Select Set by Windows if you are using the WinMo External GPS applet. Select Set Manually and set your com port/baud rate (Com 5/9600 for x7501) if you are not allowing WinMo to control the GPS. I have Google Maps installed to Main Memory.
That having all been said, I find that Windows Live just plain works better, and allows me to set the map cache to the SD card.
Enjoy.

I have had no issues with Google Maps other than the location off, but until I discovered Com 5 using the HTC GPS Tool, I couldn't get any of my other applications to use GPS. Having discovered Com 5, GPS is working just fine. Though I would like to figure out how to GPS stamp my photos - I don't have a P10 in my registry for the camera.
Google maps has been working for ages.
You can easily enable the GPS photo by using schaps advanced configuration tool version 2.
If you use michys roms you can install this over Schap advanced config3.
Hope this helps
Really newbie here - I've been reading all the forums for a week and still have problems.
Have an HTC tilt - Cingular/ATT - 8925.
So far, works good but - I was trying to use "bloover" / "btexplorer" / "sbth" and no luck. Install went good but trying to start them from Java, I get an error :
" The MIDlet could not be instantiated: java.lang.NoClassfFoundError "
I do know that this could be fixed, not sure how.
Any help, suggestions (never worked with java before, edit registry).
I also like to mention that after a week of studies and tries, "youtube" on HTC (at least on mine) does NOT WORK - tried everything - nothing works - won't play video. Error: "RealPlayer : Media file type not supported." And regardless a few threads - there is no "Video Sites" icon on "Programs".
Thanks and please don't redirect me to "JavaBible" - I couldn't understand it. All I need to know is if there is anything (and if yes - what - to make my programs run - maybe a different midlet manager).

??? Are you sure you've deployed the TCPMP plug-in? RealPlayer has nothing to do with YouTube.
And, do you mean Mobile YouTube or the regular one? For the former, you'll need HTC Streaming Media (but it may not work with you if your connection is NAT'ed); for the latter, the TCPMP plug-in.

But, in the MIDlet Bible (if you mean the one at http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=The (Java) MIDlet Bible ) it's clearly explained you in NO WAY can mke Bluetooth work under the current KVM's.
youtube and bt
First off all, thank you for prompt response.
About BT- eg.-playing and listening music n/a on HTC Tilt but with 3rd party software (bt audio, bt music and so ) music streaming over bluetooth, skype enable and so works - could be a 3rd party to deploy midlets on java?!
Then youtube - I installed Tcmp, then flash player, go thru all the options, even made default player for all files. I was trying to acces youtube from ie - www.youtube.com -
and that's how I got the error. And why is realplayer I don't have a clue. Tried a few versions of tcmp, uninstall and flashed all the time.
It will be great if I could get some heads up or some new links for different players. I'm kind of sure I did it correctly (not once).
Thank you!
I have tried several ways to make this software work. The original post didn't state clearly the procedure and I saw many having some pointer problems. Here is the working procedure:
Installation:
Unzip the WVGA2 into your phone's SD card
Install WVGAFIX2_sdkCerts
Install WVGAFIX2
This will general a program named VModeSwitch in your program list
How to run the program:
1. Put your WVGA2 fix program "VModeSwitch" in the menu list (settings --> menus)
2. Slide open your X1 and make the phone in landscape mode
3. Click start and click VModeSwitch
4. Click 480x640 then click "set"
5. The screen will shrink to 480x640 landscape mode but in opposite direct
6. Now, close your X1, then the VGA will switch to Portrait mode.
Now you can use the phone and everything works with no pointer problem.
Have Fun! Below is the game list that works in my phone
Work in WVGA mode:
1. Arvale II: Ocean
2. Astraware Sudoku
3. Bejeweled 2
4. Bubble Breaker
5. Final Battle
6. Maumau
7. Solitaire
8. Spore
9. Tower Mogul
10. Tradewinds 2
11. Warring Nations
Only Works in WVGA2 Fix mode:
1. Aces Texas Hold'em No Limit
2. Stolen In 60 Seconds
3. Westward
wvga2 fix
I have also installed the wvga2 fix (from 'cuttila' or some name like that), first the certfile. Tomtom6 is now in portraitmode working, but.... any other application (phone, agenda, etc.) is sticking on the screen, I cannot close it, it wont get 'away' until I open another application, which will stick again, I have as well done callibration again but solves nothing. Alltogether I càn use all the apllications bùt on a anoying way. Finally to get rid of it I have to switch off the whole phone. Xperia X1.
Why does Sony Ericsson not come with a nice solution, that would solve a lot of problems, if they make a product with higher resolution they should know a lot of applications just won't work on it. So whats easilier than deliver as well the solution for it.
Waiting for better times.....
Did you try WVGAFix3?
Try it several times and works great for me on my X1
wvgafix wvga2 wvga3
Okay, I downloaded WVGA3.fix to my Xperia X1 into My documents and it looks to work better. But it looks like I should not open my keybord, in other words once you activate the application you should not change from portret to landscape / vertical to horizontal, is asking for problems, menu's stay sticking. Anyway my Tomtom Navigator 6 works OK on it. But if Tomtom is on, it looks like I cannot just have a look in my contacts or other applications, but that might as well be the case if the resolution would not be a problem I think. If TomTom is on the Windows icoon for the different menu's is not available. Telephone anyway works OK. It might be that the sound on bluetooth carkit is a bit worse because of using much memory? I have to try it further out. But having my Tomtom always with me and working is very fine! I am happy with it. Thanks.
Hi.
So far loving my HD2. However, I need some apps to be able to use this phone for work as well as personal.
Any suggestions for the following?
1. ssh client
2. app to transfer dvd to HD2
3. openvpn
4. syncML syncing of contacts and calendar
5. turn by turn gps. i tried garmin XT but it looks like it's crashing the HD2.
6. voip or sipphone client.
also, any apps that are useful or highly recommended?
Thanks

Only works in the US. Many XDA folk live elsewhere, or would like to use GPS nav elsewhere.
Try this one:
http://omm.mine.nu/
Tested it for 3 weeks now, works without flaw (excapt You have to cahnge the xml-file where to download the maps). Maps can be downloaded in bulk worldwide. Got maps before leaving my Cell-area from Egypt, Lebanon and so on.............
To fill Your SD Card with maps worldwide just edit the maps.xml-file with an xml-editor (xml notepad 2007 free from MS) to get maps-cache to SD (original file sends them to RAM and programs own edit function gives an error).
1. ssh client -- Pocket Putty
2. app to transfer dvd to HD2 -- SPB Mobile DVD
4. syncML syncing of contacts and calendar -- Google Sync for mobile
Garmin XT
I can confirm that Garmin XT works great on the Leo. I've been using it since day one I've had the phone (3 months), whitout any problems at all. As a matter of fact, it is now a pleasure to use. On the Tytn II it took ages to start up, On the Leo it's a snap and ver responsive.
Never had it crash my phone (I'm running the standard ROM it came with).
