VPA Compact II software broke - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Hi! My friend has a VPA Compact II that has a problem: the phone has a Button ROM (I don't know wich version) and when he turns on the phone, it remains stuck with the screen that shows the IPL and SPL version.
Can the phone be fixed? Please, tell me how to fix his phone!
Thank you very much!

What does IPL/SPL say?

I don't know exactly. I know for sure that ROM version is 1.5.4.2. That's all... Sorry!

Reboot (push in the soft reset hole with your stylus). Watch carefully, during boot sequence all info will be displayed (IPL/SPL/GSM/OS). Report what you see there.

DEAD: Update with Prophet ROM to Charmer (MDA Compact 2)

Hi there, maybe anyone out there can help me. I did an update with the newest german Rom Update for the Prophet to the Charmer, because a read that it worked for someone. Well, update works, but after reboot there's only the startscreen of O2 with the 4 red numbers, and then nothing happens...
What can I do?
Greetz B.
lol, sorry but that was a stupid thing to do!
try getting it into bootloader to reinstall the original rom

Resets itself...

I have a strange problem. For no reason my O2 Mini S soft resets iteself. Any clue why this happens and how I can prevent it? Thanks.
Update the rom if it is a pre-aku2 rom. The older roms had a habit of doing this.
Thanks...
Thanks for the tip. Now this is what scares me have read some horror stories and some nice ones after ROM updated... so I am still thinking... :?:

Should be a straight update if you use the latest o2 rom, no need to unlock your device if you know your never going to use non-o2 roms. V unlikely to have a problem if you go down this path.
Siemens SX66
I dont know how close these phones are to one another, but I have the SX66 and for the last week or so, it just out of the blue, will soft reset itself... It is Very frustrating... I have even done a hard reset back to factory specks,,, and it still does it...
I am totally lost here.

Ok. Thanks for the confidence. I have downloaded the O2 ROM from their UK site, and currently my ROM says: ROM 1.1.7.5/Radio Ver: 01.08.10/ Protocol Version: 4.0.13.18/ExtROM Version: 1.1.7.105. I think this is a German O2 because the keys on the keyboard are of that layout. So will it be a problem if I upload a ROM from the UK site? Thanks.
On your device check settings\device info. If your rom ends in WWE then that is english then the one from the uk site will be fine. If it ends in GER then you need the german rom from the german o2 site.
Ok but...
OK but I don't see any of those abbreviations next to any ROM number... In anywhere else I can check? Thanks.

I have not found anywhere else. But if your menus are in english it will be a WWE rom. Keyboard layout may be german but can be changed afterwards by a reg tweak if its a problem.

Any assistance here???
Successful Upgrade but...
I did successfully upgrade to the UK version of the O2 ROM Ver. 2.21, but not there is a strange problem sometimes the phone just hangs after going on standby, I can see the greenlight blinking for the phone signal but it wont come back on when I press the power button. I have to remove the battery and then it restarts. Any solution to this problem or is it a bug? Thanks.

Dead Dutch HTC 3300?

Hi Guys,
I have searched the forum, but no solution for my problem. I had a dutch htc 3300. My device is not unlocked. I have tried to flash the pdamobiz rom to my device and since can`t get by the splash screen. STUPID!!! I can get into the bootloader but I need the original dutch rom to flash. Can anybody upload please? Cannot do anything with it now.
If I am right, there is no way to unlock the device in this situation!?!
Any suggestions?
thanks
Exact same issue a couple of hours ago.. see my Help Desperate post below this one.. it worked for me.
how
What exactly did you do? I did not understand your thread. How did you unlock your device?
What is meant by this:
not your flashing one, but clean bootloader, by hardreset followed by record and reset
thanks
Wait
Hi Guys,
Is there not a solution? Do I have to wait for HTC to release a dutch rom upgrade? I still don`t understand why the Pdabiz rom killed my device?
Please help me out
thanks

That refers to the flashing Tmobile boot screen that shows and stays.. it wouldn't boot any further.
If you press record (left top side of your device, small button above the volume slider) and hold this while pressing reset you will get into the real bootloader mode (a tri-colour screen) that allows you to do a USB connect.
Now go to: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Artemis_Upgrades
and download the following ROM for your T-Mobile device:
T-Mobile English T-MOB005 ARTE***** 1.13.110.1 9/22/06 1.13.110.101 1.13.0000 02.49.90 4.1.13.25 (direct link: ftp://xda:[email protected]/art_tmouk_11311001_024990_wwe_ship.exe)
Just run this exe while in that bootloader (tri-colour) mode.
Good luck, that did it for me.
Not T-mobile
Hi,
Thanks for your reply. But my device is not T-mobile branded. It is a original HTC.
Tried your method but does not work.
Will have to find someone with a dutch rom I think
I am out of ideas
*bump
I have the same problem.. I can get into bootloader screen, but I can't find a T-Mobile ROM to flash.
Anyone with a working link to a T-Mobile ROM? The link was removed from this page..
Thnx

What language was your original T-Mobile in? I presume Dutch since you live in Holland. Unless you had your phone unlocked before you tried to flash it, you can only restore the same ROM. Unfortunately there is no Dutch ROM as far as I know.
So how did you solve it? Thought you had this problem 2 months ago..
And yes the original language was Dutch..
Im contacting T-Mobile right now, and they should have a NL version but the site is down atm.

Personally I never tried to flash my phone, maybe you read an answer from me to someone with a similar problem.
T-Mobile can provide you with the correct ROM, but I don't think it can be found at their site. Well, it was not there last time I looked anyway.

Hmm you were right.. it was somebody else.
The ROM should be avaible @ http://www.t-mobile.nl/software but that site isn't working at the moment. They told me that the only thing I could do now, is going to a T-Mobile shop and let them send it for a fix.
So my hopes are on a PM that I send to the author of this post. Perhaps he's able to give me the original ROM.

Mmm, I think he was looking for a T-Mobile ROM in the English language, so you cannot use that because it has a different signature. Unless you're phone is unlocked?
nope..
But I can give it try anyway..
Want to use the fixing by T-Mobile as a last resort..

I just checked their Dutch site and it is up and running again. Hate to disappoint you, but there is no original complete Dutch ROM for download, only an update with a Blackberry Client.
You may find a ROM for a MDA III though, be careful not to use that one because that is a different model, also known as Blue Angel. It has a sliding mechanism and a keyboard for example.

MDA III Update...
I also have my P3300 f*cked up...
Thnx for the link!
But this doesn't work if your MDA is in bootloader.. this program needs an ActiveSync connection
Hmm...
I'm thinking about sending it to HTC voor repair
I'm going to do one more thing and that's is backup the OS
from a friend that also had a HTC P3300 NL and hope to make
a ROM file...
So let's hope that will work!
But if you made a backup you still need to connect to your MDA while it's in bootloader...
If anyone knows how to do that...
Yep i know... i've tried everything! with mtty.exe and nothing
works.
See below the reaction from IMEI-CHECK:
Hello,
sorry to tell you the BAD NEWS but you REALLY can not fix the phone yourself.
You only have 2 options to get the phone fixed:
1) you find the "ORIGINAL HTC P3300 DUTCH ROM Update" and flash the device from bootloader (most likely not available)
2) you send the phone to repair
Sorry to tell you but there are REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY no other options.
The mistake from you was to use the risky ROM update without CID unlocking the phone BEFORE.

IMEI-CHECK Team

Hello,
I've a broken HTC P3300 (Dutch). The story is this:
It has no sim-lock but it does have a CID-Lock.
I update my Dutch HTC P3300 to this ROM:
- PDAMobiz_Dopod_P800W_AKU301_v1.1.2_PowerMap
and that whent great. Everything worked. After this i saw another ROM and i installed it:
- Tom HTC Artemis Rom v2.00.01 PDAVIET
and the update whent fine, but after hard reset it stops at the HTC Logo with the version numbers.
I only can get to the bootloader and do some thing with hyperterminal (mtty.exe).
When i want to install this ROM:
- HTC_1.12.405.01_026790_WWE_SHIP
it says that i get this error after 2%:
ERROR [244] WRONG MODEL ID
When i use art_tmouk_11311001_024990_wwe_ship.exe it says i have the WRONG VENDER ID.
I have made a backup with aWizard and have these files:
-HTCLogo.nba
-OS.nba
-Radio.nba
-Splash.nba
-boot.rgu
and a folder ExtRom that is empty...
Can you help me with this? I hope so!!
Thanks for your help!

MDA Compact 2 Upgrade Error (95%)

Hello,
I wanted to upgrade my MDA Compact 2 to AKU3.
I started the update tool, like described in the forum here. The progressbar
on my MDA screen appears and when 95% are reached the update tool give me the ERROR [302]: UPDATE ERROR.
The reset of my MDA gives me only the 3color Boot-Loader Screen with the following Numbers:
IPL 2.06.0001
SPL 3.08.0001
and RUU in the right top corner.
Has anyone an idea to solve this problem, an downgrade to the old AKU2 can also not be done, because i get always the error about an wrong vendor ID.
I read a thread, to unlock CID, but this is not possible in Bootloader Mode, or?
thanks
Michael
SOLVED
Hello,
I solved my problem!!
I installed the Radio ROM Upgrade:
ftp://[email protected]/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/Radio_ROMs/Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.69.21.exe
and it works.
There is maybe at 95% the Radio ROM Upgrade, and this worked not with the AKU 3.3 Image.
greets
Michael
I have the same issue. It's asking me for a password when I click on your link.
@optical, read the FAQ
@mwulz, thanks a lot ;-)
I got the same Problem. Does the link also work with the T-Mobile MDA Vario?
I don't want to crash my MDA Vario...
Thanks in advance
No, it won't help you. It's the radio rom, so it will not fit your wizard. You can try to flash any radio rom for wizard or any splash.
@mwulz
Thanks to you, I had the same problem (95% Error) and my mda compact II stoped working. With your tipp it works again!

Problem with K-jam stuck on splash screen

I have G3, My battery was over in the middle of an hard-reset...
Then my wizard is always stuck on the IPL/SPL screen and when i try to hard reset i get error "format is failed".
I tried to flash button rom and also Xda_MiniS_LaunchROM_v154102 but still the wizard stuck on splash screen (with the picture) but the OS doesn't start...
When i was trying to flash wizard love rom i got error 300 something like invalido, so i replaced the nk.nbf of the button rom with the one of the wizard love rom and then it succeed. but heaven with the wizard love it's still stuck on the splash screen... i have no idea what is the operator of the device because i bought it from someone (second-hand) and there is not any sign of the operator on it... so i can't flash the original rom...
With the wizard love rom it desplay the following at the splash screen (with the image):
IPL 1.05
SPL 2.16
GSM 02.25.11
OS 2.26.10.2
I return and say that when i try to hard-reset i get error "format is failed"..
I can get to the bootloader so i don't think that my wizard is bricked..
Sorry about the bad english...
I will be grateful for any idea, PLEASE help me
Try the Wizard > WM6 thread. You'll get more info there than here regarding flashing....

what's the make/model of your phone,is it T-mobile Mda,At&TT cingular 8125,Qtek 9100, or O2 xda minis S.You can find all the official stock Roms here in this link, download the specific official Rom of your phones make and flash in the bootloaders mode.If you are using any Sdcard or miniSd card, remove it before flashing and get the battery fully charged with wall charger before starting to flash.

I don't know what is my device opertator because i bought it from second-hand...

Probably, but not definitely. Most will have something in their respective threads to tell you if they were tested on G3 or not. It's good to be alert about this, though, because if you are successful in flashing to the wrong ROM, you could end up with an expensive brick.

all official stock roms are basically for both G3 and G4 devices, they are safe for both, they include IPL/SPL for both the devices, while flashing an official rom,it will determine the version and will only flash those ipl/spl which are suitable for that version,so its safe to flash official rom to either a G3 or G4 phone.
cheers!
I having problem to flash these roms..
I don't know my device original operator at all...
Maybe should i try the Mini SD backup solution from here:

??
Thanks on advance..!
