Phone doesn't remember my WIFI account settings - Touch HD General

The phone doesn't remember my networkkey so I have to write it in all the time. Isn't there a way to save the settings? Maybe an program witch stores and handles the settings?
Many thanks for any help!

Try to disable the Firewall, specially the one comes with Anti-Virus software

Dont get me wrong. I can connect to the Wifirouter just fine if I type in the networkkey manually every time. Thats what Im trying to avoid. There must be a program that can store and manage all connection data?

That is odd. I think the only thing that would do that is if you installed something new. But you already said, you did not install anything. My only recommendation is try to uninstall any programs of yours that requires internet access one at a time and see if it will restore PIE functions. One of them might be the culprit. Always perform a soft reset after each uninstall then test PIE. Because if you don't find out which application is causing the coflict with PIE, it does not matter if you do a hard reset and install everything from the start, because you are not getting rid of the problem by doing it that way you might encounter the same problem in the future.
Give us a list of all your installed applications and where you installed them, to the SD Card, Ext ROM, or Main Memory. Someone from this site might recognize something. Sorry if I did not help.
Hello, have you tried using opera or some other browser?
Are you connecting through 3G/GPRS or via activesync/wi-fi - and if so does it work the other way?
How about your connection settings - e.g. VPN's, modems wich network connects to work, which to internet.
Do you have any sites IP addresses in your exceptions list?
If you are at work can you connect to any directories on your file server, or any intranet sites?
Cheers
ok opera works but i dont want to pay for it, lol will try the uninstalling of apps, but i have it in my head that it could have started on the first, im on o2 and their free gprs ended on the 31st march, but then the fact that everything else is working kinda rules that out, i have went through my device connection settings, i am gona put it down to either a registry setting has changed sumhow by either sumthing i did or by sumthing an app did, or its a conflict with another app, thanks for ur support guys, will try out the sugestions tonite, thanks

Wizard using Wifi

Hey,
I have a G4 Wizard, Model Wiza100(With a Camera). I'm using a generic MDA Windows Mobile v6 rom. I recently bought this phone off a friend, mine broke and I didn't want to pay 100s for a rather crappy go phone. I do not have the Data Plan for AT&T and was wondering if there was a way to configure my wizard to NEVER automatically connect to the internet. I'd also like to find a way to have it be able to browse while connected to wifi. Thanks guys, -Strife
Bumb. Any help guys?
Go into start, settings, connections, tap manage existing connections, general tab and tap delete settings. I think this should remove internet connections settings and you wont be able to connect.
Your phone shouldn't connect to gprs anyway unless you open your web browser or other app (like weather program) without being connected to wifi
Sweet, thanks man. I never really need to use the internet on my phone, I was just skeptical of downloading weather addons and such because I didn't want it to access the internet. Also, everytime I let someone use my phone they end up opening internet explorer anyways. I guess we will see the bill at the end of the month, but this should stop it. Thanks again.

Then download apps that let YOU decide when things get updated.
Also, you could try using NoData from MoDaCo (free registration on site required to see/download attachments). Pay attention to their warnings, though: you must have GPRS settings installed for it to work
It'll basically render GPRS inoperable unless you absolutely NEED it, then you just run NoData again, and enable GPRS, and Bob's your mother's sister's husband.
Sweet, thanks for the heads up. Seems like I had No Data on my phone from the MDA Rom. Alright cool, well now I know how to use No Data. Thanks again!

How to prevent phone from using certain connections?

Hi,
I have a Windows Mobile 6 Standard based phone (actually an HP one called IPAQ 514) and would like to configure its connections.
What I want is that my phone does never connect to the internet by my phone provider but only with WLAN and Bluetooh. This means I want to disable the internet by my provider completly. Is this possible?
The setting should be used for all applications on the phone and also for those I'll install in the future. Currently I removed GPRS connections, except for MMS and I removed "DFÜ" (German). Anything more to do?
How to set up Internet Explorer?
Thanks for your help in advance.
Greetings,
Andreas Balzer
I don't want to go online through my provider either so I simply deleted the media net profile on my phone. Not sure how your HP works, but something along those lines should work.
if you want better controll, you can leave all dial up/gprs connections in there for moment when you really need it, and just disable and enable the one you need. this is simple small utility, which do the trick - modaco no data - http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility/

My TD2 is going online (EDGE or HSDPA) by itself!

I have the following problem: my HTC Touch Diamond 2 (from T-Mobile) is going online and stays online for hours until I notice and disconnect.
I can't be sure, but it's possible that Mobile Shell is the reason, because I don't have any other running applications. Is this maybe a built-in feature of TD2?
Is this a known issue? Any hints or tips? (ActiveSync and GMail are set to synchronize manually).
yes look in the Options of mobile shell
its the weather Programm that uses these autoConnects all the time
ive had the same "problem" as well...
if u have SPB Traveler too, then uve to look in every single programm option
SPB Traveler options
SPB MObile Shell options
SPB weather options
take out the automaticly updates...
fixed =D
I've checked Windows Update and Weather Update. Both are off.
I've found that I have a suspicious widgetmanager.exe running on my PDA. Is this coming from Opera? I'll kill it and see if it helps.
Maybe it's the (totally useless) PushInternet service of Opera.
Here's how you can stop it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=532948&highlight=stop+pushinternet
But the problem is that sometimes you want to browse some saved pages.
There are some saved pages that still require connection to update something.
And the phone goes on-line automatically WITHOUT asking the user. This annoys me a lot, since I have a fixed traffic amount and I don't want to spend it unawares.
I solved this issue by modifying a letter in my default connection.
This way, when the phone tries to go on-line automatically I get an error message saying it cannot connect. Now, depending on my needs, I either dismiss the message to stay off-line or fix that modified letter to go on-line.
To modify your default connection:
Settings tab, All settings, Connections tab, Connections, Manage existing connections, Click your default connection, Edit, Next, (here change the "Access point name" -- my last letters are .ro and I delete the "o"), Next and then Finish.
Maybe this solution is a bit rough but it works for me and I'm happy .
What's the problem? I have always a data connection open on my phone, 24 hours a day. You only pay for the amount of data, not for staying online.
I was referring to traffic.
The phone transfers data without asking my permission.
> You only pay for the amount of data, not for staying online.
The phone is connecting to the Internet automatically upon necessity. The fact that the connection is open means that some program or service had the necessity and transferred the data (at least one byte, but likely more). So the traffic is not zero in this case.
Another reason is that I pay 7EUR per every day that I connect to the Internet + the traffic price.
And reason #3 is that I want to know and control what my phone is doing and not otherwise.
I'm still observing the situation, this widgetmanager.exe is likely the source of the problem, but can't confirm it 100% yet.
Try SPB Wireless Monitor, then you can see whats connected, amount of traffic etc.
No need of buying, just use the trial for 15 days
Thanks for the tip. I have used it. That's how I know about widgetmanager.exe downloading something. I keep it killed and wait for the problem to reappear. After 24 hours I'll know if it's widgetmanager.exe or not.
I like your solution and I am going to give that a try. Thank you.
widgetmanager.exe was the reason. It comes with T-Online ROM. Thank you everybody for your help. Issue closed.

Disable Wifi Access! Any suggestions please?

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum, and was wondering if anyone can help me out. I have an Acer S200, and due to restrictions at work, we need to disable internet access from our mobile devices.
I have read various posts that state that this can be achieved by disabling wifi access by altering the registry keys, however none of the methods that i have come accross seem to apply to my Acer S200 mobile 6.5.
Sorry to be a pain, but does anyone know how i can do this?
Thanks in advance everyone.
alan
What are you talking about? Disable wifi? Why do you start it at the first place?
Internet access on mobiles can be done by active synch, data connection, wifi. It 's up to you to disable them by comm manager and active synch.
Maybe I get you wrong. What exactly do you need to stop?
Hi fresco,
thanks for the reply. Well, the organisation wants to prevent the devices from having the ability to connect to the internet.
I understand that there may not be a complete solution, but at the very least I would definitely like to disable wifi completely, since this is what I've read others have done. The devices do not have data connection plans, hence this option isn't a problem.
Apparently I can disable the wifi by altering the registry keys? Any ideas anyone?
Thanks.
hiya...
any ideas guys?
can anyone direct me to anything that could be remotely useful to the above?
Thanks
Hi alan,
let me get this straight. You work at an organization that has unencrypted wifi access
but doesn`t want it`s employees using it?
If your company`s wi-fi network gives access to the internet to anyone that connects to it why doesn`t the IT manager set a password to the network or enable mac filtering (prevents unauthorized devices-mac addresses from connecting to the network)?
I don`t know how you would disable the wifi chip from the registry
but if i were you i would buy a second phone for work use only.
SKTools
Try SKTools maybe there is a solution in the app.
You can disable the WiFi in registry:
Go to "[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\State\Hardware]" and change the WiFi string to 0.
In the Comm. Manager the WiFI is disappeared and you are not able to connect.
thanks brainmaster.
the method that you suggested only removes the wifi display from comm manager, however that can easily be bypassed using the windows menu, to open wifi.
thanks...
then delete that one from the windows menu from Device > Windows > Start Menu
