Problem with basic phone call function

Hi all the buddies out there...
Did anyone experience problem with making calls and receiving incoming calls? I tested the ROM without any add on application installed. When I call my mobile, the first attempt will not be able to connect and it will end up into my voice mailbox. Second attempt will wake up the phone and get connected. Sometime, first few calls will be also failed.
About making calls, sometime I can't dial out and need to try few times. It make me very frustrated with the problems of the basic function of a "phone". I really appreciate any suggestions or fixes you may be aware. Many thanks.

Make sure you hardreset with NO/YES/YES options.

Thanks for your reply. Of course I do hard reset everytime I upgrade my BA code and when I wanted to clean up my phone. This is a normal procedure.
I believe everyone who is using it as a phone will not live with the phone function problem. I would appreciate whoever ever experienced this problem and have the work around method can share with me. Billion thanks and hope I can really get a solution. It is really frustrating...

i read your previous posts (re WM5 roms), and it is puzzling why your unit exhibits problems on calls even then...
is your radio already v1.15?

I did not have any call function problem with the earlier version of WM5. Ever since I upgraded my WM5 to newer version, I started to have the phone's problem.
I tried to downgrade the radio firmware from 1.15 to 1.13 to 1.12.
1.12 so far give me the least problem. I experienced drop calls occasionally, but huge reduce in incoming call problem. I still can live with sometime cannot make outgoing calls. The most important, people can reach me more consistently.

I had this problem on Orange UK; a new SIM card fixed it. Try borrowing a SIM card from another phone and see if the problem still exists for you.

had changed to a new sim card but problem persist..I think will just throw away my BA...

Wouldn't be cheaper to go back to WM5 or WM2003SE, instead of [FONT=&quot]throwing[/FONT] the BA...?

I experience the problem with Radio 1.12.
When I upgrade to 1.15, the problem is gone.

i have my tytn 1 WM 5 for about 6 month now, and since then i have this problem,the calls either incoming or outgoing disconnet most the time
its rare if a phone call didnt disconnect
when i asked my tytn provider by the phone he said its propably from the network it self.
i called the network provider "vodaphone" they introduced 3G broadband to their service recently here in egypt, and they said they cant find any problem and i should change the mobile as a test to see if that will happen also.
but i have my suspesion about that " U " icon and the "G" one
i feel its related to them as mostly they seem to be changing from one to another during the disconnection, i dont know if during the call or befor it ir what .. or may be im mistaken !
i dont know what to do
format my tytn ? i did that and didnt help
change the mobile to another 3G mobile to test the network ?
call my HTC provider again ?

i asked the HTC provider for WM 6 thinking that the new software might solve that problem ,but they don't have it
i said but on the net there is alot of WM 6 for tytn , they said its for Urope version not here
iam in egypt and my tytn language is english but arabic enabled , with both languages on the keyboard.

huge problem with my touch cruise 3g and net

first of all i am sorry to start a thread with a problem
i looked the forum w/o similar problem to this (please correct me if im wrong)
i plead to you developers to help me ,im stuck, depressed, and angry from my cruise
here it is :
i have touch cruise that i bought 1 month ago ( ONE MONTH, DAMN!!)
FIRST IT WORKED fine for few days , then the bigbang:
when i have (H) OR (3G) IN RADIO : no calls at all, its like phone is off, everytime i try to call ,the call end and then bleebed twice (end call tone)
cannot receive call either?? ( yes, HSPDA OR 3G is enabeld,, and band settings are set to auto)
when i disable hspda or 3g ( or set band to (gsm only) ,it works fine with G, E, or standard gsm
but not 3G ( NOW FEELING MORE DEPRESSED).
i cannot connect to internet : even in G,E,OR standard gsm
it says : connected, ---> connecting---> opening ,,,,then it get STUCK in 1 kb or 2 kb for ever-----( shows 1st line or two in google page but no more) then an error message ( there seem to be aproblem with your connection,,BLAH,BLAH,BLAH).
- I TRIED AUTOCONFIGURATION AND MANUAL TOO, NO USE ( not a settings or configurations problem)
- note : i tried my chip on my nokia 6680 and it is working like a charm ( internit, 3g, everything) ( not a chip or service problem)
- my friends ( have o2 life and touch dual ) have exactly the same settings and connecting from exactly the same place and service with no problems
- tried to move from area to area (even city ??????<--- desperate huh?)
with no use.
- THEN: I GOT EVIL : flashed new rom (bebe .67) - thanks btw- and newest radio for touch( cant remember the name ( 61 something, but was the best reviwed one)---> guess what?--> no useeeee
tried murata radio --------> you know what. ( by the way the reception strenght is exellant, thats not the problem)
flashed mobiz room ----> suicidal feelings ( yes ,no use)
flaSHED udk ----> nothing, natta
still stuck
returned to original radio---> its like cruise is telling me : GIVE UP DUDE, WHAT ARE U ,NUTS? IM NOT DIONG IT ,OK.
-before that i did dozens of hardreset, softreset ( almost every day or two)
pleeeeeaaase guys u r my only hope ,before i crash my cruise ( i mean it)
- i am ready to pay ( or donate)if necessary ( just tell me how, paypal not supported in my place , just give me another way and ill do it ,
i got sick of this

3G H network problem
I upgraded to radio 1.64.08.21 a month ago. Everything works fine for a month, till friday. Saturday my phone was off and I used gps for 40 min. Sunday start problems: I can use phone only in gsm band, in this way I can connect in edge or gprs and make calls, otherwise not call are allowed (two bips and the call is terminated) and no data connection! I have a dualsim adapeter, but with another sim card same problem! I try murata rom but no luck. Same issue! One more thing: saturday my battery was drained to zero, if it means something!
Nobody help us? Do We need to give our TC to htc assistence!?!?!
(I made this post also in all polaris radio)

and yes, i dont want any help from those htc support , all they are good at is repeating your words like parrots

I suggest to put the original ROM and RADIO and after that the original SPL ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1962153&postcount=79 ) and go with it to warranty... if you changed so many roms it means it is not a software problem i think.
Did you took out the battery and put it back in?

downgrade..
downgrade your radio rom to Murata (1.58.21.23)..
don't forget to backup your data, because Murata Radio does hardreset after downgrade..

3G H network problem
I tried Murata and original 1.58.21.23 rom, no luck! I read something related to the sim holder: It could be the cause of our nightmares! In fact I have a dual sim switching two sim, both 3G. The first day I buy polaris it works well switching from first sim to second and viceversa. The second day it doesn't works anymore. I can switch sim only after a soft reset for one times and after first switch only second sim works. Thinking an incopatible dual sim holder I buy another one where the manufacturer say good for the cruise: same result!!!
Now, after the network problem the sim switch without problem!?!? I think is an hardware issue...
P.S. I have changed only radio, Rom is the original italian!

Exist and persist! I called htc customer care to send them my tc... I hope it comes back quicly a maybe a new one!

my htc same proplem but i find the proplem in the of ( sim card base ) i send my mobile to warranty then the eng. say me this a defect in factory . then after chang base sim card the 3G is good . but the new base sim card is a different old base

they told u : its hardware problem ( in sim card base or something like that)
and they replaced ur device ?
and now its working perfectly ????

My tc now is sended back to assistence. Mine worked well more than 2 months without problem, then it died! Mystery of technology i guess.... I'll notice you when it's back!

The problem occurs (according to the many reports I see here and in other forums) also with other units (like the Kaiser/TyTN II).
I had the problem myself with a Kaiser and they final solution was a change of the mainboard (on which occasion I returned the unit for refund because the mainboards were out of stock and a delay of weeks was announced).
The symptoms you describe point exactly to this problem.

Hi! So did somebody solve the problem finaly? Who manage to get device back fexed and what was the exact problem? I got the same problem with my O2 - mostly same I can tell... Cause in my case just EDGE and GPRS does not work - and it conserns just one operator.... Other opererator's sim cards work properly.... Changing sim cards of my own operator one to another does'n help.
Can somebody confirm that changing simcard base will solve the problem?

Just want to add that problem with my O2 occured in several weeks of using and I didn't change any settings and flashing rom or radio befor - so I think this is hardware.....

I just sent my polaris to warranty ( cellecom)---> pronounced : silly - come!!
im waiting now
im calling daily , they even know my voice now
hope to get my polaris soon .
i will post the updates as soon as i get it

from other replies , i think the problem is more than just an sim base
it has something to do with mainboard ( very poor quality hardware )- i think some one said (belguim company)
your best choice is to use ur warranty ASAP. ---> dont forget to put back ur original rom and radio and lock device back

I finally gave up and sent mine back to htc
they said it was the main board. they said that they would send back to me 3 to 5 days after they receive it. it took over 2 weeks but when all said and done it works great now and they did say they had to replace the main board. i sent it in right after the murata was discovered. I really wish i could have tried it to see if it would have fixed the problem. but anyways I have a new board to break now hehehe

Second problem with my Hermes

Hello, I post this problem in sepparate thread because it's completely different from the first (the slider).
The problem:
When the UMTS network is enabled I can make and receive calls without any problem. If I turn the UMTS/3G off from the menu or if there is no coverag I can't receive calls . If somebody calls me he receives recorded operator message "the subscribers telephone is not switch on". After that I receive notification that somebody called me.
I have flashed the latest radio rom, but no change .
Please give me some ideas

it's not your phone but your phone company's which equipment have the issue
nothing you can do well apart from changing phone company

It's OK, but how other Hermeses works with this network ?

all gprs able devices would work the same way with your network

Which Radio ROM did you flash?
The best is to flash the shipped Radio ROM back to your phone.
This one should work on your phone.

Hello, I was on vacantion last week. Thank you for your replies ! I've tried most of the radio ROMS and it seems to be a hardware problem. I've opened the phone and there are 3 issues:
1) The yellow element in the center of this photo seems to have broken corner ( maybe it's antenna switch ):
2) Some 0 Ohm resistor is shorted with wire ( may be this is not problem ) :
3) There are two missing capacitors near the flex cable connector:

HTC P3450 Network Connection Problem

I am having a problem with my HTC Touch P3450 phone for the past 2 weeks. Although the GSM signal looks good, I am not able to make/receive calls. I am on "Phone" mode (not Flight Mode or similar). Everything else (WiFi, programs etc.) works fine.
My operator is Turkcell and I live in Istanbul, Turkey. The phone was purchased from the United States.
I have done a ROM update to ROM version 1.17.707.2B WWE but the problem still exists.
Has anyone else experienced this kind of problem? I suspect that this issue has something to do with the 3G upgrading process going on in Turkey.

Can you try to use your friend's sim card and see whether it works.

Also I cannot take any calls, when I call myself from another phone it goes to voice mail as if the phone is turned off.
I guess it is a hardware problem then.

I think its time to change your phone's radio. go to the elf-upgrading section to find out more.

Hi, i have the same problem. When I make a soft-reset on my Elfin it has signal, but just 3 or more minutes after i cloud not make any calls and if someone try to call me they receive the message that my cellphone is off. Rigth now i am performing a radio upgrade and i will let you know if this is the solution for the problem, if you are done with this please let me know how to solve this.

I am from Bangalore,India. i was using BSNL SIM for 2years. suddenly one day the Sim was dead. i thought sim problem so replaced 2 times after that got AIRTEL Sim. now its working fine. the problem is with 2 or 3 carrier operators. STRANGE!!!!!!!!

I have been investigating this issue on and off for a few months now on one of my elf’s. I originally bought this phone off eBay to test stuff, and found no signal was being received when I got it. The auction did say this so fine. Checkmend says it is not blocked in any country, and is not stolen etc. Therefore, it is definitely something on the phone opposed to networks.
The phone can pick up signal, it noes networks exists, and can identify them, however, when registered and "connected" it does not pick up messages, and when I try to make a phone call the signal completely drops.
I like others have tried many roms. I have even tried every signal radio. I have also tried 6 different working Sims across a number of operators.
Basically, I think this issue is hardware, I mean, there really isn't anything else that I can think off. I have done some reading, and I *think* it may be down to the PA chips. There are 2 off these in the phone, one for Radio signal, and the other for Bluetooth, and wifi. (I think that is it).
These are located just above the battery on the back of the circuit board from what I can see, protected by 2 parts. One removable (two top screws - also contains the speaker) and one fixed into the middle part of the body.
I've done some playing, and it seems may be easy to break, either by dropping the phone, or even possibly by something as little as keeping the phone in a pocket and sitting on it.
I am not sure where I can go from here. I may need to investigate this further, but it is looking like it is going to be a dead end, considering I am not able to BGA solder to replace it, and expect the cost in doing so outweighs buying a new phone. I'm going to look into signal amplifiers, and see if I can find one that’s not just a piece of tin foil, and actually works. It will be interesting to see if that will improve the signal far enough for the phone to be usable once again. I may even just try with some kitchen foil, or by plugging in an external aerial (which I do not have yet, and may be costly, and therefore no point). If the external aerial works, I guess the chip could only be damaged, and not able to get enough strength itself.
This is only a theory on what I think is wrong with my Phone, and may be different to what everyone else’s is. But i thought I should put it out, to see if anyone else is able to confirm/kill my idea. It is a theory after all, they are made to be proven!
If anyone else has any ideas, feel free to pitch them, I like hearing what others are thinking, and it may be possible, although I admit very unlikely, that we could find a resolution to this issue!

I think it can't harm to try, be sure to follow the right procedure.
